Too bad there’s no recipe for love.M.K. can bake anything for her patisserie—mouth-watering pastries, delicious macarons, buttery croissants. But a broken heart has left her hiding in the kitchen, dodging well-meaning match-ups, rather than trying to find Mr. Right.Until a trip to Las Vegas leads her to the bright, white smile of Clay.M.K. falls hard—fast, furious, sickening-sweet Instalove. And … furious, sickening-sweet Instalove. And it’s the same for Clay. After a first date filled with cats and cupcakes and spiteful ex-girlfriends, M.K. and Clay know they’re meant to be together.
Sound perfect? It is—until an old girlfriend shows up and wants Clay to play Daddy with their son, a baby Clay never knew existed. M.K. doesn’t want to lose Clay, but babies have never part of her plan, especially someone else’s.
There’s no recipe for this.
In Perfectly Played, M.K. and Clay watched friends Flora and Dean fumble on their way to a happily ever after. Now it’s time for their story.

This book is intertwined with Perfectly Played. Same engaging characters and unusual scenario, but from the perspective of M.K and Clay. It is well written and as entertaining as the other.
When the four discover that they all live in Toronto, they are wary, but also excited. Because of her mother and history, M.K doesn’t believe in relationships, but she is very attracted to Clay. And for the first time, Clay sees in M.K., a woman that he wants a relationship with and is no longer interested in his former playboy life. But then a woman he dated for a short while, drops their son, who he knew nothing about, off at his condo. While all Clay can think of is now having ready made family, M.K never wanted children and imagines all kind of scenarios in which she will be hurt and abandoned. Can this relationship survive?
Oops………..now what do we do?
Beautifully Baked is the first book I have ready by Holly Kerr and I enjoyed it. As I had not read the first book in the series, Love & Alliteration, prior to cracking Beautifully Baked open I was not sure if I would be able to follow the story but it can be read as a stand-alone. With that being said I did pick-up Perfectly Played and read it also just to get a bit more of the story of M.K and Clay.
I found this book to be well written with an engaging and fun story-line and characters that are nicely developed and have depth which results in them being delightful to read. The romance is nice but then add in an unexpected bundle from a former girlfriend of Clay’s and boy are there some things, both funny and poignant, that M.K. and Clay have to deal with.
I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading the next in the series.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Once I started I could not put the book down. With two broken hearts with twists and turns hot and steamy like a rollercoaster ride of emotions that makes you want more with the chemistry and romance.
Thank you for allowing me to review your book.

This book is funny, witty, snarky, sweet, tender, thought-provoking, and just all-around great!! A wonderful follow-up to Perfectly Played where we get to see Clay and MK find their own HEA along with the bonus of a son that Clay had not known about prior to an ex-one-night stand showing up with! MK then has to do a lot of soul-searching as to whether she is ready for the type of commitment that involves a ready-made family, especially with another woman’s child! Both Clay and MK grow and mature within the pages of this book and Clay turns out to be a simply adorable father. A totally enjoyable book! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Fun Clean Romantic Comedy
This book is the second in a series. The entire series is fun and worth reading. The plot is not your normal rom/com. There is plenty going on and the journey makes it a page-turner to read. It can stand alone, but it is better to read them in order. I bought this book and I’m glad I did.
I’m a little torn by this one. For me, this book ended before the story was really done. It stops at a point where I was desperately hoping for more. I loved MK and I loved Clay. I adored their gooey sweet, fated mates love story. I just wanted to see more resolution, more of the fall-out from their major conflict. I realize MK has a knee-jerk reaction and that recognizing this allows her to view the situation in a different way. But, the pretty, shiny bow wrapping up their reconciliation feels like it shortchanges both characters out of a valuable opportunity for growth.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.
Clay’s ex hands him his son, Theo and he is gob smacked. MK is trying to do anything and everything opposite of what her family, really her mother expects her to do. She doesn’t want to get married and she definitely doesn’t want to raise another woman’s child or does she?
I loved the romance in this story.
Beautifully Baked by Holly Kerr is the sequel to Perfectly Played, and it’s a fantastic book.
Can M.K. put away her issues about wanting a baby to be there for Clay and his son?
M.K. Donnelly
M.K. Donnelly is a friend of Flora’s and was at her wedding in Las Vegas. M.K. is very different than Flora as she loves to bake and is more into the structure and planning of everything. No kidding, M.K. almost gave herself an ulcer trying to find her current house. She is an excellent character despite all those flaws. Although, maybe she has been rebelling against her mom a bit too much.
What I like about M.K. is that despite everything that has happened in her life and believing that marriage isn’t worth it, she is thinking about it with Clay. She is an independent person that started her own business and wants what is best for herself. What I dislike about her is that she didn’t take time to stop and seriously think about why she believes the things she does.
Clay McFadden
Clay McFadden is the VP of Marketing at his uncle’s business and all-around playboy. That is until M.K. stepped into his life. After that, it’s all been about her. He is a great guy who loves baseball and is trying to be a good person, but he never thought about becoming a parent himself. Well, until his son was literally dropped into his life by a girl that he went with one time. Clay has taken on fatherhood as best as he can, and he loves it. Yet, did he maybe let M.K. leave a bit too soon?
What I like about Clay is that he turned his life around when he found out about his son and wants to raise him even if that is by himself. The one thing that I dislike about him is that he could have fought for M.K. at least asked her why.
Five Stars
Beautifully Baked by Holly Kerr is a great fast read romantic comedy that will surely make anyone laugh out loud. It’s an excellent book in that M.K. finds herself doing something that she has never thought that she was doing. Will it help her in the end? I am giving it five stars and recommending it to all rom-com readers.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

A follow-up story to Perfectly Played, this story follows MK and Clay. After meeting in Vegas, its a happy surprise that they happen to find each other in Toronto. While they appear to be total opposites, they really do mesh well together. These two have an instant connection and they fall fast. When a curveball from his past becomes part of their present, the reader is left wondering if these two will make it through. Clay and MK fall fast, which makes the likelihood of a fast fall that much greater. A great read that will bring the reader on the roller coaster of emotions that is the relationship of MK and Clay.

A fun, romantic comedy with sweet treats and even sweeter love. M.K. is skeptical when it comes to men and love and for that all thanks goes to her ex. That is until she meets Clay while in Vegas for her friends wedding. When she returns home, she runs in to him again and one thing leads to another. Now they’re an item, but when a blast from his past hands him a baby, M.K. may rethink her decision of being in a relationship with Clay. A great story line with fantastic characters you’re sure to fall in love with.

This book ties in nicely with Perfectly Played, giving readers a different perspective on the weddings that didn’t happen for their friends. I love getting a story for M.K. and Clay. What a wonderful continuation of characters that are so beloved! I hope there are more to come! I received an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review.
Clay doesn’t do relationship. He likes women and women like him but he is against commitment. M. K. an de her best friend Flora promised at seventeen that they never will get married. But when Clay and M.K. meet in Las Vegas something clicked between them. Are they ready for a real relationship? Can they fight their demons and realise that love is wort fighting for? A sweet love story.
This story begins when she is rushing to help her friend Flora make it to her wedding on time. A few problems: the whole thing is very much NOT Flora.
The intended groom is not a passionate and longed for mate. The gown is not fun and funky – and they are in the cliche Las Vegas locale, missing only Elvis. Intended groom Thomas seals his fate forgetting the flowers for florist Flora.
Crashing into Dean and Clay on their exit route could be the start of fabulous things – if they connect again.
Fate seems determined to throw near misses and a host of complications at them. A determined and annoying ex wife surprising baggage proves a particular challenge.
Funny and poignant romance with hurdles to conquer- again and again!

A sensational partner to Perfectly Played, this romantic and comedic novel takes both serious and lighthearted issues and weaves them into a perfect dessert — not too sweet, but just right. Love the author’s writing style, enjoyed the thoughtful characterisation, and can’t wait to read more.
Holly Kerr presents a great straight love story in Beautifully Baked. This book easily stands alone, but it is the sequel to Perfectly Played, another great romance from Ms. Kerr. M.K. and Clay are delightful characters. They are enjoying their romance when a former girlfriend shows up with Clay’s son – a baby he never knew about. Theo freaks out M.K. because she has never wanted kids. To see how this all plays out, be sure to read Beautifully Baked.
At first I was a bit restless having us go back to the beginning where the first book started, but after hearing that there hadn’t been a sequel planned until readers asked, then it all made sense. I loved getting an in-depth look at these two beloved characters from the first book. I wouldn’t be upset if a third book came out with Ruthie (and maybe one of Dean/Clay’s buddies mentioned in here). 😉 There were definitely unexpected twists and turns in this book. I really enjoyed the storyline and the familial emphasis.

I enjoyed Beautifully Baked. I really like the characters. There is a great relationship between the friends and their families. M.K and Clay are so perfect for each other. This book is set at the same time as the previous book Perfectly Played. I like how it gave us some of the other couple’s perspective of the story line and events. This is a sweet romance.
