Five years ago I told a lie that would land Brandt Browning – local hero and heir to the Mentley Mill fortune – in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.I ruined his life with three small words. “He did it.” I didn’t even have to be there to testify in court. It was too easy. But that was five years ago. And now Brandt has been released. He’s coming for me.This time I’m not waiting around. I’m going … I’m not waiting around. I’m going to run so far away that no one will ever find me. The trouble is, you can’t hide from money. Eventually Brandt will catch up with me, and when he does, he’ll want payment in blood.
I’m not strong enough to resist the pull between us. If that man gets his hands on me he’ll realise I’m still half in love with him – and that can only end in disaster.

Exceptional Book #1… original Erotic Suspense, with a fascinating layered plot

Awesome book!
An intriguing story that is well designed and which takes the reader into the prison time that Brandt has served. Not that he was guilty, no, because he got there because of Harper’s accusations. Throughout his prison time, he has thought about what he will do when he is released and that is to go after Harper.
The erotic scenes are beautifully described and look realistic. I felt the humiliation and shame come over from the pages. You hope it will work out between the two because the chemistry is noticeable. And then it comes ….. an open end. Who doesn’t hate that! A preview of the sequel makes you want to read it. Really.

I had a great time and was highly entertaining with each turn of the pages. The characters are well developed and engaging and the storyline flowed smoothly from beginning to the end.

All I can say is I have a definite hate/love relationship with CP Mandara’s cliff-hanger of an ending in this first book in the Enemies to Lovers Series about one man’s quest for revenge against the person who put him in prison for years, despite him being innocent of the crime. And my oh my does it have a lot of X-rated sexual encounters in it in terms of the body parts being handled and described in detail, even though they are without the complete sex act. It is also a revelation of the pain vs pleasure idea that manifests itself in certain individuals and their physical responses to it. I hope book 2 comes out very soon so I can add it to my TBR file. Brandt Browning has spend five years in prison for a crime that he didn’t commit his parents disowned him his friends turned there backs on him. While in prison he suffered a lot of abuse at the hands of his cellmate. Harper is the reason Brandt went to jail when she told a lie and she knows that he is coming for her. This was a tell if revenge a man whose life was taken from him with a lie. Harper had her reasons for doing what she did although in this book we didn’t get to find out why. I also didn’t like Brandt’s parents they wouldn’t help him but they want to control with money. Harper hasn’t had it easy she married a man who abused her she was evicted from apartment and she also has to worry about her husband’s friends. When Brandt begins torturing her she tries to get away, but he catches her. This was a good read that left a lot of questions unanswered. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book.
Another great read from this author!
Argggg frustrating ends in a cliffhanger. I can’t wait for more. None of the questions I was asking myself were answered. I hate spoilers so I’m trying not to give anything away. I heartily recommend not reading this until there is more. This is like someone took a book and ripped it in half. I’ve given this a 2. it is however very well written. If it’s ever finished and put together I’d probably give it a much higher rating.
This book was given to me for free at my request from the publisher or author and I provided this unbiased voluntary review.
Let me first say, I love flowery love stories, so this was definitely a different feel. While the storyline was possible, the relationship dynamics were a painful at times between the two. There is a lot of baggage to unload. I’m hoping that book 2 will offer the reader the needed information.

This story is hard for me. There are other reviews that will sum this story up, but it has dub-con BDSM, friends-to-enemies as a core trope (is that even a thing?!), and a surprise unconsensual M/M scene. That’s just making some highlights.
A disclaimer would be nice so I would know what delicate fun to expect, but alas I know some author’s want to have reader really experience the blah blah . . .
Okay so back to the review. I think I suffered connecting with these characters because the author choose to withhold key backstory information. Brandt is so angry and determined to take out his pain on Harper; all the wrongs he has suffered because of the lies she has told. The ambivalence he had toward her is so hard to understand without knowing what their relationship was in the past, how much they cared about one another, to truly know what was lost. You can’t get that sense of brokenness of betrayal without that backstory. I know that the author will probably give it to the reader in subsistent books, but there needed to more of a foundation in this story to cement what Harper has done and the justification of Brandt.
Both of these characters are just so caught up in their own crap and self-pity that neither one knows how to communicate their way out of a paper bag. They are both selfish and pitiful. Like a train wreck, you can’t help but continue to read the beautiful chaos.

I really liked this book, this Author kept you interested from the first page
He did it
That’s the lie that Harper tells that sends Brandt to prison.
Five years later, he’s a changed man and he’s coming to wreck havoc and revenge on Harper so she’ll recant. Dubcon.
Dark.
Not all the ends are tied up at the end.
This is a story that I was attracted to due to the blurb. It’s part one and it drew me in immediately and I am now patiently waiting for part two. The plot and the characters are brilliant and luckily, it’s not an overly long book so it’s perfect for reading in one sitting.

I loved this book! Couldn’t put it down! Darkly twisted plot and characters!
Loved the book it was great, the story was well written and the characters are interesting. Once I started I could not put the book down, from start to finish you just could not get enough, it left you wanting more with twists and turns with raw passion. The chemistry between them is intense hot and steamy with emotions that makes you feel like you are on a rollercoaster ride of erotic short story.

Brandt is a man who went to prison for 10 years because a young woman named Harper went to the police, he was arrested and tried and sentenced. While she went on her merry way which wasn’t as merry as he assumed but nothing went as he assumed or even hope for and he spent the last 5 years going through Hail. So as soon as he got out he only had one thing on his mind and that was to find Harper and make her recant her story to the police and clear his name but of course his parents had other things on their minds, and the story begins. Harper was informed that Brandt was to be released and she decides to run but not soon enough and she does not use her head she is so desperate and gets caught so easy especially by the man she loves. Suspense and BDSM, action and betrayal. Great story line and the characters are very interesting. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow what did I just read!! There’s so much to tell in this book Brandt is falsely sent to prison for a crime he didn’t commit, and boy did he suffer while in there. Fast forward to his release and what do you reckon will happen, yep time to confront his accuser!, everything is not quite as it seems and this ends on a cliffhanger and I cannot wait for book two!. I’d recommend this book.

Captivating & intense
—>>> This first installment is the slow unraveling of Brandt Browning’s five-years’-worth of focused, minutely-planned revenge on the one person responsible for putting him in jail: Harper Wilkinson. For a crime he did not commit. Five years to develop his dark streak and kinky fantasies all with the intent of unleashing it all on her, as well as the means to do so. But Brandt’s release from prison also gains renewed and unwanted, never mind ill-timed attention from his dysfunctional parents who had more or less disowned him after his imprisonment, which will put a definite crimp in his plans…
Looking forward to more answers being revealed regarding their past, and the events which led up to his sentencing. Harper seems to have been stuck between a rock and a hard place, and Brandt is the knight who came to her rescue, now badly tarnished.
No, dont do this to me a cliffhanger you cant believe, but such a fantastic story you dont want to miss, I dont know where my allegiance is at the moment, but Brandt could be in the lead as Harper had been bad. Cant wait for more.
