What if your family was a lie? What if your name was a lie? What if your whole life was just a pack of Beautiful Lies?
If Ridley Jones had slept ten minutes later or had taken the subway instead of waiting for a cab, she would still be living the lie she used to call her perfect life. Instead, she’s in the wrong place at the right time to unleash a chain of events that begins with a mysterious package on her doorstep. A package that informs her that her entire world is just an illusion. Forced to question everything she knows about herself, Ridley wanders into dark territory, where everyone is hiding something.
Sexy and fast-paced, Beautiful Lies is a true literary thriller. Lisa Unger takes us on a breathtaking ride in which every choice Ridley makes creates a whirlwind of consequences that are impossible to imagine.

Lisa Unger is one of my favorite authors and I read every book I can find that she has written. You will greatly enjoy this book and all of her others. I highly recommend all of her books. If you want to sit down and read you will enjoy her books and not want to stop until the last page
I found Lisa Unger as a judge in the International Thriller Writers competition on this book. Wonderful job–compelling characters, unusual situation, and a deliciously cryptic plot. She went on my auto-buy list and with successive releases has remained there. A gifted author with a lovely writing style.
This was the first book I read by Lisa Unger and it was a great book. I listen to audio and I couldn’t wait to read the sequel Sliver of Truth. Great read.
I really enjoyed this book, especially the main character. She felt like my best friend, right from the first page. It’s the first time that I bought the second book in the series before finishing the first. Couldn’t wait to read more by this author.
I like Lisa Unger’s books and this was no exception. As usual, you really don’t know what will happen next. Very well-written.
I loved it couldn’t put it down
This was an engaging read, nicely written and paced. I liked the 2 main characters and their dynamic, the plot was plausible enough, and I could live with the fact that the enemy was largely undefined.
Went on way too long…so many “chase” scenes
I enjoyed this book.
Absorbing, thought provoking, sentimental , identity seeking richly woven novel.
4.5 Stars. This book is the first in the Ridley Jones series. Already a fan of Lisa Unger, I was excited to discover this one in my tbr stacks. Ridley Jones is an intense and insightful character. I enjoyed the rapid paced suspense of this story. Certainly makes me want to check out others in the series.
I read more of Ungers books after this one. She had me…
It’s based on real life situations
Wow! This book was completely wonderful and I’ve ordered three more of her books. It was a page turner.
Very interesting read. I could tell where things were headed pretty early but my investment in the main character kept me interested all the way through.
This author has a beautiful way with words. I enjoyed each paragraph in the unusual story of a young lady and fate.
Enjoyable, well written.
This was an easy read with a decent mystery element. I couldn’t really seem to make myself care about the characters, but if you’re looking for an easy read and some escapism (although suspension of disbelief was a bit difficult here at some points), this book was alright.
Reading it now. Still not sure if the good guy is really a good guy. That’s what I like about this book – it keeps me guessing.
It was not my favorite. Slow moving in parts, author explained the plot which was not necessary. Pretty far fetched and didn’t make all that much sense to me.
