I was excited to read the next installment in the Hill City Heroes series. I enjoyed the interaction between Gwen and Jensen. I am looking forward to the next book as there are many more characters whose story needs to be told.

I found this book awesome to read had me entertained from the beginning to the end. Having well defined and engaging characters made for a smooth flowing storyline.

I read this book as a standalone. It seems like a series that needs to be read in order. There were so many characters, I spent a lot of time lost trying to figure out how everyone is connected. With that being said the story is enjoyable. It’s very fast paced, and flows well. I’ll most likely go back and read the first book, just I get a better understanding of the characters.

This is the second book in the Hill City Heros series. I have read book one, this can be read on it’s own but I recommend the series. A fire station full of alpha firefighters, it’s only the job calls that are burning hot. This book is the story of the newly appointed Fire Chief Jensen Keetes and Gwen Carlson, a long time coworker. These two have always had an attraction to one another but they are coworkers and teammates first. Things are changing with this Hill City arsonist and its bring out more heat and fire in the station as well as the city. In this book we not only continue to figure out the Hill City arsonist but it is also a journey to see if a work relationship can become more between Jensen and Gwen. I cannot wait for book three for both another pair up of these wonderful characters and the hope of finding out who the Hill City arsonist is. Enjoy!

Book two in the Hill City Heroes series and this series is just getting better. I know I want to read the next book. This is newly appointed Fire Chief Jensen Keetes and Gwendolyn Carlson’s story. Will we find out who the Hill City Arsonist is in the next book. This story has suspense, drama, danger, kidnapping, one very evil man, and romance. Gwen and Jensen flirt for a good long while, then finally begin to date and enter into a D/s relationship that crosses the line from personal into work. It becomes real serious real fast. The arsonist is still around, as well as a copycat, and some of the women have been threatened. The action and suspense from the first book continue in this one, as well as the D/s relationships which all the firehouse characters are involved in. I really enjoyed this, as much as the first book. The characters are supportive of each other at work, and are truly good friends all the time. This does not end on a cliffhanger; however, there are some issues that will carry forward. I’m looking forward to the next book.

This is the second book in a new series and I thoroughly enjoyed it While it is a full story for Gwen and Jensen you also still have a lot of other characters that are obviously going to be future stories plus there is the n underlying story that I still has not been solved While this book doesn’t end on a cliff hanger as such it is obvious that there will be more stories to come
Gwen Carlson is a paramedic at the station that is managed by Jensen Keetes. There is an attraction between them in fact she has crushed on him for years but with an arsonist on the loose who is escalating all the time and with it looking more and more like an inside job Will they have time to see where their relationship can develop When a copycat arsonist is captured will it throw the original arsonist into a tail spin making all the women of the firefighters targets.
All I can say is WOW!
There are some scenes in this book that will just grab you all I can say is WOW! This one is steamy with the touch of the submissive/dominant vibe. It really must be an interesting firehouse! The chemistry between the characters is off the chart and so entertaining to read. Loved the book I really hope you check it out. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Oh my gosh! This was the worst written book I’ve read in a long while.
I liked the blurb when I first read it, so even though the author was new to me I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately the execution of what could have been a decent story was sorely disappointing.
Right from the start the whole set-up, the relationships between the different characters, the names, the dialogues and everything was just a mess. It seemed like the author herself couldn’t be bothered to learn the names of her own characters or follow their conversations throghout the book. The constant referral to a character as ‘the other man’ or the ‘other woman’ made my skin crawl every time.
The narrative was uncomprehensible from the start without any introduction of characters or any useful references at all. It felt like I just dropped right in the middle of a story everyone else but me, the reader, was privy to.
And for the love of God, if you decide to use words of endearment from a different language please make sure you actually know that language or at least ask someone who does!
I’m a fan of BDSM elements in a story but this book was very much lacking in this respect too.
If all that wouldn’t be enough, there were those awfully irritating grammatical errors, yuck!
This book definitely needs a lot of work, it’s confusing and annoying, unfortunately unreadable in its current form.
I don’t think I’ll read this author again.

I received this book as an ARC from Booksprout and this review is my own.
This book needs a lot of work before it becomes a book that anyone should be reading. The story itself, the plot, would be fine with the sentences, paragraphs, narrative, and dialogue all worked together towards the same end. The book is haphazard in its layout, confusing in the way the narrative and dialogue drive the story. It took me until around 20% before I finally figured out who was who and how each character related to other characters and to the story itself.
Characters show up unannounced and there’s nothing in the narrative to even tell us who they are, let alone their full names or what their function in the story is. I am 75% through this book and I’m still scratching my head, especially when two people are speaking in one paragraph and there’s only one set of quotation marks. The author flip flops between calling people by their first names then their last. She refers to Jensen in two different ways between two pages, but never explains that “Keetes” is also “Jensen” is also “Chief”. There’s nothing that gives a reader insight into Gwen’s character, her background, or the relationship with her former Dom or even Jensen, who I think is trying to become her current Dominant, although as hesitant as he is, he’s more a sub than a Dom. We don’t get a real glimpse of any character in the first third of the book, which is why I didn’t make it as far as I would have liked.
This book needs a hard edit by someone who understands word usage and the D/s dynamic. Most of what had been between Gwen and Jensen was in narrative, which doesn’t demonstrate any power exchange. I read the blurb, and was sorely disappointed that no one understood BDSM enough to get it right. It also needs people who are not the author’s friends reading and giving her advice. I was disappointed because, honestly, I liked the idea of this particular plot in a romance. It has been done before, but not all that well. And it wasn’t done well here either.
A Continuing Saga
This is the second book in series, and personally, I think you will understand the characters better if you read the first book in the series first. It just appears to be a continuing saga for me which is excellent. I love it, but the first book needed to be read to get the entire picture.
There is a copycat, and then the arsonist ups his game when copycat is caught. Warnings are sent to women at the fire station and to Sierra though she is a reporter her brother works at the fire station.
Jensen Keetes the new fire chief and Gwendolyn Carlson, who is a paramedic that works with the fire department, has had a crush on Jensen for years.
This story includes frightening situations, several fires, unexplained incidents, kidnapping, life, and death situations, there is uncertainty, mystery, suspense, and danger lurks.
This book will keep you reading and wanting more.
I received a free copy of this book. This honest review was posted voluntarily.
I loved the range of surprises in this book – about Gwen, about the copycat, and about the other character/s I’m not naming to avoid spoilers. I also loved the character development and how the reader feels as though they become friends. The story is good, the scenes are hot – that poker, wow! Jensen reads Gwen so well and the cold scenes, especially the snowball fight, are fabulous. And most of all, this is a book to enjoy and one I was sorry to finish. I look forward to more.

This is a story of an EMT who falls in love with her supervisor at the firehouse. Now, add in the fact that she’s also.a sub who is denying her true self by living a vanilla life. Her boss is a really hot dominant who has been flirting back and forth with her for months. Most importantly, everyone in the firehouse seems to be in the life and makes no bones about showing it. Now you have to add in the fact that there’s an arsonist making their life miserable. This was a really good story and I really enjoyed it. It’s sexy and fast and keeps you interested. Hand, paddle.

I loved this second book in the series. I know they say stand alone, but you have to read the first book to understand this book.
Gwen and Jensen are the focus of this book. They have gotten together and we learn that Gwen is not the vanilla she portrays. We also learn that there is a copycat. The copycat is found out, but once he is taken care of the arsonist is ready to play. There is a HFN (happy for now) but I can’t wait for book 3!
