Fresh out of college, Ellison Edson has fallen through the cracks of rock bottom. While staying in her family’s vacation home in Colorado, her behavior has finally gained the attention of her parents—but not in the way she hoped. Cut off from the millions she’s always taken for granted, and left alone to fend for herself, Ellie spirals further out of control, making a mistake she can’t take back. back.
Like his twin brother Taylor, Tyler Maddox is a member of the Alpine Hotshots, fighting wildland fires on the frontline. As arrogant as he is charming, Tyler’s nomadic lifestyle makes it easy to contain his relationships to one night. When he meets Ellie at a local party during off-season, her extreme personality and dismissive attitude fascinates him at first, but as his feelings deepen, Tyler realizes that the crippling inner demons of the woman he loves might be the strongest enemy any Maddox has ever faced.

Boohoo Rich kid gets cut off and has to pay back everything that was damaged from a party she threw.
Adult children getting cut off I feel no sympathy.
Addiction was very prevalent in this book and it was used to make a lot of excuses and I just can’t.
The fact that she goes from being a secretary to someone taking pictures on the front lines of dangerous fires it was just too unreal.
I wanted to root for these two but they made it very hard.
I enjoyed the narration.
I highly recommend all the books in this series. Jamie McGuire knows how to get you fully invested in her characters. The books are swoon worthy and entertaining. There are no slow moments you want to skim through. You want to savor the entire book. Every book in the ‘Beautiful’ series are amazing and unforgettable. The Maddox men are easily lovable and the books are easy and read and will keep you up late into the night.
I enjoy this author and LOVE the series but Ellie was over the top for me. I still recommend the book but put your armor on first.
The last of the Maddox brothers. Tyler is a hotshot like his twin. Taylor is the only one who knows what Tyler actually does, all the rest think he sells insurance with Taylor. Keeping this secret is easy, until Tyler goes to a party at the Edison residence and meets Ellison.
Ellie is the definition of spoiled rich girl. She doesn’t have to work, Daddy gives her money when she wants it. Ellie turns toward really bad habits, which eventually catch up to her. Her parents hire an interventionist who has them cut Ellie off and kick her out. Ellie must find a place to stay as well as a job to pay for everything. AND SHE DOES IT. Ellie finds that she is REALLY good at taking pictures and gets a job following the hotshots.
Not great. If you lives her other books-this one may not be up to par. Hard to identify with the main character. Stick with her earlier work-those books are awesome.
I was disappointed in this book. I didn’t like the female lead. This Maddox brother deserved better.
Lowest stars for this book I hate to do it but Ellie’s character just pissed me off and I had to push through this book
I would of loved this book if it wasn’t for the emotional scaring that Beautiful Sacrifice left me with. The entire book I kept expecting Tyler to end up being a dick like Taylor was. Because of that I just couldn’t let myself fall for Tyler, I turned every page thinking “okay this is going to be it”. At the end when it didn’t come I could appreciate the story, but it’s no fun when you are waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Watching Ellie struggle and fail was hard, and I think I like Tyler more for not giving up.
I loved this book. Unfortunately I read it out of order and some characters/family members were a little confusing. I plan to start at the beginning of the series.
Not for the faint of heart. There is a lot of angst but it is inspiring to watch someone build themselves up after falling so far. Love the characters.
I enjoyed all the books in this series and this one did not disappoint. Great read 😉
Oh my word, do those Maddox men love something fierce or what?! I just love how they love their girls!
I kinda had a love/hate thing going on with Ellison. I love that she got her shit together after she hit rock bottom. Taking pictures in those mountains was the best thing that ever happened to her, well besides Tyler. But I hated that she was selfish, self-destructive and just wouldn’t let Tyler love her. That girl just pushed and pulled at that poor man. I wanted to slap her upside the head and tell her to snap outta it! Just let him love youuuuu!!!!
Tyler, I loved him! He just would not give up on Ellison no matter how much she told him she wasn’t good for him. And she told him repeatedly, like 80% of the book. He just took whatever she dished out, stood by her and loved her anyway, because she needed it.
The only thing I wish is that the book had dual POV. I wanted to know so bad about Tyler’s thoughts, but I know that’s not how the author rolls. I’m a sad panda that this was the last one. Too bad there wasn’t like 8 more brothers. I would read them all.
Disclosure: Some spoilers ahead – read this review at your own risk. (Sorry guys, not sure how to put my feelings about this one into a review without explaining things that happened along the way)
Whoa. What a roller coaster. I don’t even know where to start. I love the Maddox brothers and I have really enjoyed this whole series.
I didn’t really like Ellie when she appeared in the other books in the series (I love how they all intertwine and overlap by the way) and I didn’t particularly like her in this one either.
At first I thought oh wow she’s a massive bitch and then she started to get her act together. I’m thinking yeah good here we go, we’ll see the real Ellie and the good side of her will learn to come out. Wrong. I hated how she made no attempt to help herself. She was going so well at the start and then gave up caring.
I hated how she treated Tyler, always with the excuse “I warned you!” – dude grow up, you can’t use that as an excuse for your behaviour. You don’t treat people that way constantly. Part of it was because she needed to learn to love herself, and to get out of the situation her life had fallen into, but still I wasn’t impressed. I also thought Tyler put up with too much shit from Ellie, not something a lot of people would do. Shows another side of loving the bad with the good, but I think this was a bit too far. But typical of the Maddox brothers it shows his love for his girl and how he’s willing to hang around and fight for her or whatever the case may be.
I particularly didn’t like how people helped enable Ellie. Especially JoJo and Paige- taking her to the bar? Seriously? Even Tyler should’ve seen what was going on but he didn’t. I guess you can hide these things really well when you’re an addict, but I still feel that all these people who were close to her should’ve seen what was going on and made an effort to help her out.
Tyler realised this by the end, which was good, but the others didn’t seem to care. I loved Tyler’s character and his trademark Maddox cockiness and love for the girl he fell for, but he’s not my favourite Maddox. Trav and Trent will always be my favourites.
I did really enjoy how Ellie fit in with the hotshots crew and how they all worked like a family. That’s a great side to see in the book. And how she found a passion for photography. As an amateur/hobby photographer myself that’s something I can relate to. I also liked how she is by the end of the book in terms of being a trust fund baby and the fact that she doesn’t really care about that much anymore. You can see it throughout the book, but when she finally stands up to her Mum at the end it’s the most obvious point and the best point.
I really loved having the overlap with the other books way back to Abby and Trav, which has been consistent throughout the series. It gives it that little bit extra I think and shows other sides of the timeline we haven’t seen before.
All in all a great instalment in the series and a must read for Maddox Brothers fans.
(I was pleased to read after the end that Jamie McGuire is doing a novel about a couple of the secondary characters in this book. Bound to be interesting as always)
And when a Maddox boy falls in love, he loves forever.
It’s still Trav and Trent for me, sorry guys <3
