Beautiful Beast is a light tale of lust and love, about a beautiful dancer who keeps a wild beast locked inside him, and the man who sets it free.
Kevin used to hold himself back, trying to keep his less conventional desires to himself. With Joakim, he feels free. It’s almost as if Joakim can read Kevin’s subconscious, touching the right places at exactly the right time, and whispering the most … whispering the most shameless things…filthy, and oh so satisfying.
Falling for Kevin is easy. Joakim can feel it happening and he’s powerless to do anything about it. With every touch, his desire grows. Men have chased him for his money and status before, but Kevin doesn’t seem to care about any of that. Maybe this time, Joakim should let himself fall, and hope the landing will be soft.

Sweet and deliciously dirty, Roe Horvat’s stunning new novel Beautiful Beast, is the ultimate opposites attract romance. Fourth in his Those Other Books series, Mr. Horvat explores a wide range of personalities, relationships, and story lines. While each title could be read as standalones, the characters do pop back and forth. I get a kick out of seeing the friends interact, and in the case of Beautiful Beast, fans of this series are going to enjoy watching as these two friend groups finally converge!
Something absolutely magical happens when Roe Horvat writes a romance. Whether it’s tender and emotional, or just down and dirty good-ole erotica, Mr. Horvat gets deep into the hearts of his characters and shows us what can happen when two people truly connect.
While he’s been focused on his career, Joakim has watched all his friends find love. Coming up on forty, this shy, bear of a man, is lonely and tired of pick-ups and one-night stands. After crossing paths with a captivating young man while shopping, Joakim decides to give Grindr another chance. He can’t believe his luck when he comes across the profile of the cutie from the shoe store!
Kevin is unsettled and lonely. Between moving to a new town, and having all his friends abandon him for loves of their own, Kevin’s apartment, and his life, are empty. After weeding through the random nonsense on Grindr, Joakim’s direct message catches his attention.
I love seeing how these two navigate social media to find each other. Reaching out tentatively, with nothing to lose, both men are hoping the other will reply. Without the constraints of a face-to-face meeting, they’re able to lay out their honest expectations and see if they match. This is one heck of an adorable courtship.
Messaging back and forth, Joakim woos Kevin with some exquisite dirty talk and the men agree to meet in person. After fumbling through first date awkwardness, these two find their connection and the sparks begin to fly!
Roe Horvat excels at writing physical love scenes and Beautiful Beast is filled with gloriously intimate and erotic sex. I’ve adored every one of Mr. Horvat’s romance novels and, so far, there’s no end to his imagination. No two relationships are similar and none of the pairings have the same style of sex. With unique characters, intense and deep emotional connections, and a lovely story line which flows throughout the series, Horvat’s The Other Books is utter perfection!
his is seriously one of the sweetest, sexiest, lightly dirty books I’ve read in a long time. I adored Joakim, enjoyed Kevin, and thought their relationship was balanced between tenderness, steam, and detail. The setting felt real as did their relationship because there was chemistry in every aspect. With pretty much no angst and no big-mis to get in the way of their romance, this was a light-hearted story with a whole lot of bedroom action to spice it up in all the best ways.
With the way the synopsis was written I was actually expecting a lot more k-ink, or at least a slightly darker kind than what we got. There was a bit of D/s and some fantastically dirty talk, but overall I felt it was pretty tame. Well, except for the fantasy they acted out, that was wonderfully smutty. Yet even in that moment there was an immense amount of care and concern for one another because they modified parts of it for what both men were emotionally comfortable with so it’s clear in every interaction between the men that there’s just as much heart as there is eroticism.
I really enjoyed the writing and that I was immediately drawn in to Joakim’s point of view and his need for Kevin. The way he put himself out there and held nothing back from their relationship except his wealth and the way Kevin appreciated everything Joakim offered, it’s clear very early on that both men need one another and are such a wonderful fit. Their messages back and forth were heartfelt and provided something real for both of them before they ever met in person. From start to finish I was invested in the men and their story.
Such a beautiful book, I loved ever page. The plot is great, the writing well done, the chemistry explosive.
I am really enjoying this series and this is my favourite so far, I didn’t want it to end. A gorgeous romance, two characters so obsessed with each other they don’t share their relationship with the world.
Don’t miss out, read this book, read the whole series.
There are a few authors whose talented voices can always tempt me to read outside my comfort zone, and Mr. Horvat is one. Beautiful Beast is the fourth book from Those Other Books series, but could be read as a standalone as the character overlap is minimal and doesn’t affect the storyline. Although the series as a whole is characterized by the beautiful blending of erotic romance, sexy and strong couples, and artistic writing, Beautiful Beast definitely leans more toward the easy romance with a bit of kink. While I normally wouldn’t pick up a book that had this couple dynamic, there is no way I could pass it up either.
Beautiful Beast had a wonderfully original meet cute that had me giddy to continue reading. I loved the characters and thought they were thoroughly developed over the course of the book. Yet, despite strong characters and an adorable way of initially meeting, I was shocked at how superficial this relationship felt compared to others in the series. I know, I know. The author specifically said light and lusty, and honestly that’s a perfect description. Perhaps it was also that Kevin and Joakim’s sexual dynamic (light D/s) was something I don’t read much of, but I didn’t take the author’s words at face value and expected something a bit more substantial from the story and romance.
That isn’t to say Beautiful Beast isn’t well done, because it absolutely is. The writing, pacing, and dialogue is gorgeous and flows seamlessly making it an easy, enjoyable read. Joakim and Kevin fit and complement one another incredibly well. There was tons of physical chemistry as well. For those who love some sweet, but sexy scenes, Beautiful Beast has those and more, including lots of dirty talk. However, this is a lighter romance, so there isn’t much angst and conflict and the pull and emotional chemistry that seems to always be a part of this author’s books was light as well. That said, while Beautiful Beast didn’t tick all my boxes, I know it will be a hit among many readers and absolutely recommend it if you are looking for well written, lighter reads with a whopping dose of heat.

4.5 Stars!
Kevin is ready for a relationship and he’s drawn to the slightly older, charming man that seems besotted with him from the start. Joakim has almost given up on finding someone who would like him for himself and not the work he does, until he meets Kevin and while he does tell Kevin what he does for a living, he’s keeping the scale at how he does it, a secret that could potentially create some troubles between them when Kevin finds out.
I really loved Kevin and Joakim, they were just so well-suited to each other, both in and out of the bedroom. I adored the progression of their relationship, it was sweet how they tried to take things slow, but couldn’t really, not with the obvious connection and sizzling chemistry between them.
While I will be the first to admit that I don’t like books with a heavy sex-content, I think there was a good balance between the sex and Kevin and Joakim actually talking and going on dates and building something that could withstand just about anything. Of course, it didn’t hurt matters that they were perfect for each other sexually, too, and that they were hot, hot, HOT together. *fans self*
This was a very low-angst, hot, engaging read. I enjoyed falling in love with these characters at the same time they were falling for each other and if you don’t mind a little power exchange play, edging and lots of sexytimes, this is definitely a book you can’t miss out on.

This romance fit in well with Those Other Books, a series I adore. Kevin and Joakim are a wonderful couple, and I smiled through most of their story. The sexy story was told with the lovely writing style I have come to expect from this author. I was happy that these men didn’t struggle with becoming a couple. The lack of angst worked very well here. I enjoyed how enamored of each other Jaokim and Kevin were, and it was a pleasure to watch them fall in love. I appreciated revisiting other characters from the series. I feel like I know them, so it was a joy to spend more time with them.
I’ll be re-reading this entire series again and again. I highly recommend all the books that are part of it, including this very sexy and sweet romance.
I don’t think this author can write a book that wouldn’t melt the readers’ hearts and put their blood on fire at the same time.
Joakim is a very rich man, and for once he’d want to build a relationship with someone who doesn’t know about his wealth, who’d appreciate him for who he is as a man. When he met Kevin, it was so sweet to see how instantly smitten he was with the younger man. Things got steamy between them pretty quickly, and their needs clicked in a way neither expected. But what I enjoyed most about them together was how their interactions were a perfect combination of insane passion and tenderness.
I loved seeing their romance progress, their chemistry and emotional connection get stronger.
Absolutely recommended.
This book is absolutely deliciously smokin hot!
I was pleasantly surprised because this author is new to me.
I couldn’t put the book down. I liked the characters, loved the writing style. I loved the creativity of the sex scenes and some were new that I hadn’t read before. The romance is lovely as well. Wow! HOT!!!
I’d give this gem more than 5 stars if I could and I will definitely will be reading more from this author.
Hot AF but also a beautiful love story.
I only discovered Roe Horvat’s writing a little over a year ago but I was hooked right from the first book I read. His series, The Other Books, captivated me right from the start. The stories are sensual and erotic but oh so romantic. Beautiful Beast is no exception to this trend but it can read as a standalone with no problem at all. There are short appearances by characters from the other books in the series but I promise you won’t feel lost if you haven’t read any of them. You should know, though, that they are wonderful books and I absolutely do recommend all of them.
The blurb describes the story perfectly so I won’t try to restate it in my own words. I will say that I loved this story for the beautiful and descriptive writing that I have come to depend on from this author. The sex scenes are hot and a bit kinky but always there is the trust that is building between Kevin and Joakim. Their relationship starts out as a hookup but both men are looking for more than that so things evolve quickly.
I would definitely call this a low angst story and the author describes it as a “light tale of lust and love.” When the inevitable conflict comes, it doesn’t go as one might expect but it was perfect for this story. Saying more would give too much away. There is a great HEA/HFN for Kevin and Joakim, with no cliffhanger, but I wouldn’t mind reading more about how they are doing a few months or more down the road.
A copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Once again Roe Horvat gifts us an absolutely beautiful, seductive story in this series. There’s definitely a beauty and the beast vibe in this other book, though not in a traditional sense. As always there is this sense of “otherness” and an utterly compelling depth of feeling between the main characters. Kevin and Joakim fit so perfectly together, falling into sync unexpectedly but easily and burning so hot. Things get deliciously filthy fairly quickly as they lose themselves in their need for each other and find out they are compatible in ways they hadn’t dared to even dream were possible. Joakim is adorable, it’s so endearing to see a powerful, rich MC get such stars in his eyes for a man he believes is out of his reach. Talk about tables being turned. Kevin is a sweetheart too, with hidden depths. Yay. He’s in for a surprise when it turns out the world is a smaller place than he thinks though. I loved how a certain secret suddenly got out, and Kevin’s reaction to the implications that soon follow. It made me so happy for Joakim. We get glimpses of the MC’s from the other Other Books and that was wonderful too, Joel and Tyler, especially. All the hearts. All the feels.
Joakim stole my heart from the very beginning. He’s an older man whose confident but can be vulnerable to some. The way he is described he sounds gorgeous in an unconventional way. When he first sets eyes on Kevin he is totally smitten in a stupid but cute way. Kevin is a dancer and when he first sees Joakim he dismisses him until they start to communicate through Instagram messaging and he gets a better view of Joakim and sees him in a different light.
This is very sensual, erotic and sexy. The romance is off the charts. I definitely recommend this book!
This series just gets better and better hotter and hotter. Roe knows how to write these amazing men that you can’t help but fan yourself and fall in love all at once.
Jokiam is single rich and busy. He is sick of people dating him for who is he and his money. When he finds his Cinderella in a shoe store he can’t help but feeling like a star crossed lover when his Cinderella disappears right before his eyes. As if by chance or by faith Jokiam joins grinder and happens appoun his Cinderella.
Kevin is tired and lonely and oh so single. All his friends are paired off and settled down. He will give grinder one more chance when he meets Jokiam he has no idea who he is but what he does know is he can’t help the instant connection between them.
If your looking for something hot low angst and easy to read then I highly recommend this or the whole series as the guy keep popping up. While they can all be read as stand alone they are much better as a series.
