This is a wonderful story of strength, determination, love, heartbreak, and full of emotion. From the first page I was hooked. I never wanted it to end. Going through the pages and feeling all the emotions Sarah felt, and knowing Charlie would always be there to give her strength was swoon worthy. The journey these two go on is worth the read. You will not be disappointed.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
An emotional journal of love, acceptance and overcoming all the odds at whatever the cost. I loved Sarah and Charlie’s story and fell in love with the both of them. An accident affects Sarah’s life in so many ways that she finds herself facing some unexpected obstacles. This is one story that I savored and tried not to devour…it was just that good. Highly recommend for all the feels and powerful emotions.
Beaten Paths is Sarah and Charlie’s story of love, determination, sacrifice, hurt, family, and choices. These two deserved their story and it was not an easy one to read. This author is one of my favorites for her emotionally written stories that I know will leave my heart wrung out after reading and Beaten Paths sure left me that way when I finished. Be ready for this wonderful story that needed to be told and will leave you laughing, crying, smiling, screaming all throughout the book.
I want to describe this book as a companion novel with Gravel Road. You can read this story either before or after Gravel Road in my opinion
I’m going to start this review off with the praise that Stephie Walls deserves. Her writing is one that I have become addicted to. And its all because of how true to life her stories are. Not all romances need to be about characters instantly falling in love, or battling their feelings for one another. No a good romance can be one that is a story about a couple building a real relationship, the real ups and downs that can come with relationships. Stephie Walls makes it so easy to relate to the characters and their journey to love.
Now onto my review…
Sarah and Charlie. If your like me and have devoured all the words written by Stephie Walls, you may recognize these two from Gravel Road. And no you do not have to read Gravel Road before you dive into Beaten Paths, actually you will be perfectly happy reading Gravel Road after finishing this book, since Sarah and Charlies story takes place before it. Sarah is learning to live as normal of a life as she can after a near fatal accident. Charlie finds himself drawn to Sarah after seeing her trying not to break down. He finally notices the girl that he never truly saw before. Their relationship is one that starts off as a friendship that slowly turns into a budding romance. You will find yourself totally swooning over Charlie as you see their love grow. Sarah’s a lot stronger thatn anyone ever thought. And when certain complications arise for Charlie and Sarah their relationship is tested.
I could not put this book down. But, like I’ve said before Stephie is one of my favorite authors for a reason. And its because I can see this story playing in my head like a movie. Now I would like to mention that there is somewhat undertones of religion when it comes to certain parts of this book. But, these undertones aren’t something that I feel took away from the way that Sarah and Charlie’s story. It was just a part of the characters themselves. This is definitely a book that i would recommend fans of contemporary romance to check out.
What a great book. I had the pleasure of reading this for a honest review. This book was amazing. I loved Sarah’s story and what she went through. The highs and the lows. Charlie is every woman’s dream. The connection they have gives you all the warm fuzzy feels and wanting what they have. I wished it was longer! I didn’t want it to end. Stephie is an AMAZING Author.
If you loved Gravel Road, you will absolutely fall in love with this book. Reading this makes me want to reread Gravel Road all over again.
This book is well written even dealing with some sensitive subjects.
Sarah’s story is tough. It’s full of struggle, so many struggles and ups and downs. However, it was full of strength and a lot of love! I couldn’t get enough of how much Charlie loves Sarah. I’ll admit I shed some tears a time or two while reading.
It’s always amazing to have new books to read, but it’s even more amazing to have another book from an author that you adore.
Stephie Walls has given me some of the most intense books ever and I loved every page.
Now she has a new book and that nervous tickle was there.
Beaten Paths is her latest release and tells the stories of Sarah and Charlie.
But let me just say one this. Even though this book is a standalone, I advise you to read Beaten Paths first. This book will tell you a bit about Sarah and the situation that lead her to this accident. Just read it. And then read Gravel Road. You’ll see why…
Sarah had to take care of her sister, and by doing so she sometimes took some decisions that weren’t accepted. One night, after she found out that her sister had run away she went after her and got herself into an accident. Now she needs to recover but…
Charlie is a hardworking guy with a huge heart. He knows only one thing, that Sarah needs him and he will do everything he can to help her.
OMG… I knew that I love this author but after this book, I love her even more.
This book was off charts and you will fall in love with it right away. I just have this urge to read Gravel Road again.
Superb plot, very well written, super engaging, intense and overwhelming.
Each chapter was even more intense than the other and I simply couldn’t put it down. I wanted to keep reading, I needed to keep reading. While going it pieces of Gravel Road kept popping into my mind and everything made sense. All the gaps that the previous book left, we’re fulfilled with the answers this book provided.
The chemistry these two share is perfect and so strong that could literally move mountains.
If I was curious about another character from this series, now I’m even more anxious. Thank God that I know that that book is on the working.
Stephie… I’ve said this a thousand times before and I’ll keep saying it another thousand. You, my dear girl, are amazing, and your words got stuck in my mind, heart, and soul. I’m so blessed for the chance to read your books.I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Beaten Paths is not the first book I’ve read from this author but it is the first of her book that left me disappointed. Sarah and Charlie were okay characters but I didn’t feel the chemistry between the two of them. However, the main thing that hurt this story for me was the pace of it. It was so slow that for me it made the story boring. There were also a lot of repetitive parts and for the life of me I couldn’t figure out why. I know I’m in the minority when it comes to this book but it was not for me. I honestly thought I would love it more than I did because I enjoyed the other book I read from this author. Every book is not for every one and this one was not for me; but with that being said, I will still say to give it a try. Just because it’s not the book for me, doesn’t me it’s not the one for you.
This was a sweet read. I would definitely read more from her.
One moment in time to change your life, alter your destiny and divide your family.
That’s all it took.
She was left half a person, with her dreams in tatters, but there he stood.
Her strength, poise and tears all spoke to his southern heart.
He might not of seen the real her over the past twelve years as they grew up together, but that was all about to change.
Oh wow, what an incredible read!
From start to finish my heart yearned for their moment of tranquility.
Such an inspiring story, that one minute reduces you to tears, and the next gives you hope.
Tissues might be required for this, dont say I didn’t warn you!
Sarah the girl who’s childhood was stolen when she was thrust into the position of playing mum to her sister.
She lost so much but never gave up, her strength is admirable and her courage second to none. Shes nothing short of amazing!
Charlie is very easy to fall in love with. He completely stole my heart, and his actions are better than any words could ever be.
A poignant story, that is both captivating and devastating. A bumpy road beneath a sky of clouds.
Another amazing read by Stephie Walls. She gets better with every book I read of hers thats for sure!
Sarah and Charlie’s story is an emotional roller coaster journey throughout. This is not an easy read, and is not for the feint-hearted. This is a tale about a life changing experience, which can change lives forever, and about love overcoming the odds. This is a beautifully written story which is heartbreaking, humorous, and tragic, which all had me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner. This gifted author has done an amazing job in penning this tale, and I look forward to reading more from her in this future.
This story is about the struggle that Sarah, Randi’s sister from Gravel Road, went through after the incident that occurred. We know how the story ends because we got to see her life through Randi’s eyes in Gravel Road. But this allowed us to see the struggles Sarah faced and her endurance to fight for more, as well as how her love bloomed for her life-long crush.
Being honest here, I really didn’t care of Sarah in Gravel Road, and I was not so taken with her in Beaten Paths, but she did have some redeeming qualities. This story shows her strength and perseverance to grab life by the horns and move forward, which is more than what we could say for Randi during her story. But Sarah also made her own bed. She acted in ways that were not hers to act, which resulted in the fight she found herself in. She needed to be a sister, not a mother. And her father needed to be a father, and not absent for both her and Randi, even with him being a single parent. But in the end they all triumphed and made it through their long road home!
With this story, we also get to see Charlie grow up, even though he was an adult, but Sarah helped provide the stability he really always needed. Their love story wasn’t intense and all encompassing, but it was tried and true and those stories are always nice to read.
This was a good round-out for Sarah and Charlie, as well as Randi and Austin. Even though we knew the ending, it was still nice to see he middle parts too!
Wow! Just wow! Stephie Walls delivers yet another epic story of family, faith and overcoming overwhelming odds.
This isn’t a sequel to Gravel Road in the traditional sense, since the timeline happens simultaneously. In fact, I think you could read these books in either order with a similar amazing experience.
I love the other side of the coin insight Walls takes in this story. I don’t want to give anything away, but her characters are complex and so very human. You will hit every emotion on the spectrum at some point in Beaten Paths, which is what makes it an epic read. You’re not going to put it down once you start it.
So, to say this book is really hard on the raw emotions is an understatement! While I have not read the first book, this one gives you in depth details as to how things affected Sarah and Charlie. The connection that these two have is amazing as well as Charlie worms his way into Sarah’s world after such a tragic accident. These two have been intertwined with each other for years, however, they are just now connecting. The ups and downs are heartbreaking but also frustrating at moments because you just want to yell at Sarah to grow up even though she is in her mid 20s. However, I cannot put myself in her shoes. Because of all the trauma she endured mentally and physically, one could only hope they never endure what she did. Charlie is just swoon though. He is the perfect gentleman and the kind of guy you want to bring home to your mom. I enjoyed how these two just fell into place and it was a beautiful story to read. I need to go back and read the first one now though!
I was thrilled to see Stephie Walls writing Sarah and Charlie’s story! I could tell from Gravel Road that Sarah went through hell after the accident, but I needed to know the WHOLE story. Stephie didn’t disappoint! Sarah and Charlie went from acquaintances to the sweetest couple ever. They had their ups and downs but ended up with the perfect family.
A wonderful romance read that will give you the emotional feels! I loved Sarah and Charlie’s character, it was an unexpected meeting that brought them together but love gave them a HEA. The emotional feels that is written in this wonderful story did not disappoint. A lot of drama, suspense that will have you invested in their journey of strength, joy and overcoming what others say is impossible. This is a definite must read that will take you on an unexpected rollercoaster.
In true Stephie Walls fashion, she hit this one out of the park!! It was an emotionally charged story of love, heartache and overcoming the odds. It was a total page turner. Couldn’t put it down once I started.
I honestly don’t even know what to say about this book. I have been hoping we would get Sarah’s story since I was halfway through Gravel Road and holy crap we did we get it. I won’t say much as I don’t want to spoil anything in anyway.
This book though has everything. Love, angst, heartbreak, pain. You name it and you will probably feel it one way or another. Sarah and Charlie’s story is unique and one for the books ( no pun intended) I honestly love everything about them and how they came to be. This book comes after Gravel Road but you could honestly read it before and it wouldn’t ruin anything. I highly recommend this book. Way to knock it out of the park Stephie!!
This was such an emotional, real and raw read that I fell in love with.
We met the characters previously in Gravel Road and i have to admit that I was a little unsure but Stephie Walls really did an outstanding job.
Sarah and Charlie’s story was not an easy one but then love isn’t always hearts and flowers and it made a refreshing change.
A beautiful read!!
I am so happy Sarah spoke to this author and had her write her story. We briefly met Sarah in Gravel Road and knew there was so much more to that story. Sarah is Miranda’s sister from Gravel Road and Charlie (Sarah’s love interest) is Austin’s brother from Gravel Road. Beaten Paths is written in dual points of view, so we are in the minds of our characters (which I love). This can be read as a standalone, but you will want to know more if you haven’t read Gravel Road.
Sarah is involved in a tragic accident and is left with months of pain and physical therapy. She’s no longer the caregiver of others but the one left to be taken care of. Charlie walks into her hospital room for the first time and never leaves her side.
This story gives hope after tragedy and when this couple is face with more life changing decisions, I couldn’t help but cry for them. Wonderful story of a man who will fight for the woman he loves and be by her side to protect her and stand up for her when she needs him.
