Jude Bennett’s firm hand is everything I need…except maybe Archer’s gentle touch. I’m in a downward spiral…see what I did there? When the band manager, Archer, hires Bennett to keep me from screwing up while the band is on hiatus, I may have finally met someone who won’t take my attitude lying down. With the three of us cooped up together for weeks on end, I have a feeling things might get … might get interesting.
Archer
Downward Spiral is my baby. But it’s obvious I haven’t done a great job because they’re falling apart. There’s only one man I can think of who might be able to get Jude back on the right track, Bennett. Unfortunately, he’s also the man I let get away sixteen years ago and haven’t gotten over since.
Bennett
Control is kind of my thing. Which is probably why I’m the best in the business when it comes to getting out of control celebrities back on track. When my ex calls and tells me he’s desperate for my help, I can’t turn him down. Between the infuriatingly sexy drummer with no idea what kind of trouble he’s asking for, and my ex looking better than ever, there’s no way this isn’t about to get messy.
* This is an MMM romance with mild D/s play and mild daddy kink (NO age play)

Beat of Their Own Drum is the third book in the Replay series, and it deals with some heavy issues. Jude has been a troubled character since the beginning of the series, and we finally find out where his pain is stemming from. Jude’s journey is painful, but the love and strength he gets from Archer and Bennett was beautiful. Even though there is a lot of angst, the author balances it out with the romance between all three men. I really liked how the kink was incorporated into the story and how it really completed the relationship between all the men. This book was wonderful – from the storyline to the character growth to the steamy, kinky moments. I loved it all.
This one is my favourite in the series. I really love Jude!
Wow wow wow!!!
What an awesome read. I love everything about this. The way we meet the guys, the flashbacks to the past, and the pace at which each step of these guys to get together. Then you have how Archer and Jude learn about Bennett’s lifestyle and their own desires and wants. All of that comes to the perfect place to leave it before we get Benji’s story. Man it’s going to be a hard wait for the next one.
I enjoyed the previous installments in the series, but Jude’s story hits all the right notes for me. Just right level of D/s, just right levels of Daddy kink, just enough sex but not so much it overwhelmed the story. Highly recommend. Be sure to read the others, too.
Beat of Their Own Drum is book 3 in the Replay series. It can be read as a standalone. I haven’t read any of the other books in the series but this one made me want to check out the other books.
Jude is the drummer for Downward Spiral. He’s spinning out of control and a little lost. His band manager is Archer. Archer has tried to kept the guys in the band on track. He decides they all need a break. Archer hires his ex Bennett to help him get Jude back on track. We get pass and present in this story which is helpful in understanding Archer, Jude, and Bennett. All three characters have layers. They all have their issues they are dealing with and together they can help each other.
OK I’m behind the times because this is the first book I’ve read in the series and I want to go back to read the first two now. I love this book because it’s a second chance book but it’s just more then a second chance romance as a second chance at life. Buckle up, you are in for an emotional ride with this book. I believe (don’t hold me to that) this is the authors first foray with BDSM themes and I do love Daddy kink. These three MCs fill the roles in the BDSM world perfectly: Bennett (the Dom), Archer (the Daddy) and Jude (the brat). The dynamic between the three is off the charts. I highly recommend this MMM book!
This is book three of the Replay series, and for maximum enjoyment I do suggest reading books one and two, with the returning characters and the way this is written, it would just flow better. With the first two books we see just how much the band relies on Archer, and just how dedicated he is to the guys. Somehow along the way the guys have lost their way, with depression, drugs, booze, prostitutes, writers block, they seemed to have hit that downward spiral (pun intended). Archer decides that to help Jude and the issues he is dealing with, he will call in someone that will be able to get Jude back in shape and clean again. But calling Bennett is actually one of the last things Archer thought he would do, after all he is still in love with the man. The two parted ways years ago knowing that they may love each other, but they can not give each other what the other needs. Now the three end up going on a vacation to get Jude out of the city and some down time. Bennett starts to realize that maybe, just maybe, the problem they had years ago, Jude is the fix. Will Jude embrace being a sub, or is that out of the question? Can Archer see the three of them starting something big?
So this was a really good read. This was a bit of a first for the author with the foray into BDSM and I think that for her first try this was really good! Nice steamy scenes, not too much drama but enough to keep us entertained, and I loved the bit of Daddy kink thrown in! I give this 4.5 stars and am ready for Benji’s book!
Wow, just wow. I loved Jude, Bennet and Archer, watching them work through things, to get to what’s best for each of them, was breathtaking. I loved Jude’s insecurities, it showed just how human he truly is.
I’m not a big fan of triangles because I don’t believe you could love two persons equally. But this story was believable and left me feeling giddy and happy that such love does exist.
Archer and Bennett have a past that never had a closure. I loved how Archer put his feelings aside in order to help Jude. The dynamics of their relationship was amazing in how they complement each other. I just loved how they managed to work everything out in order for their relationship to survive.
Another MM(M) book who will be put into my favourite reads in 2018.

Beat Of Their Own Drum, is book 3 in the Replay series by the amazing author KM Neuhold!
It’s a hot and steamy MMM read. Jude, Archer and Bennett is three very different men, but they create a perfect relationship. Jude, the drummer in the Downward Spiral. Archer is the manager, and is trying to help keep Jude out of trouble. But he needs help, so he contacts an ex boyfriend, Bennett.
It’s well written, filled with angst, friendship and love!! Loved it!
Despite the old song, “It Takes Two”, there are times when three is the magic number as the author so deftly shows us in this story. For me, this story got off to a little bit of a slow start as a result of the flashback scenes employed to set the stage. By midway in the story, I couldn’t put the book down and by the 3/4 mark, I was entrapped in one of the most erotic, intimate, compelling stories I’ve read in a long time. I was so engaged that I put the book down because I didn’t want it to be over.
Archer and Bennet are two men whose love was perfect in some ways yet the relationship just didn’t work because of their too-similar needs in the bedroom. Even though they didn’t make it as a couple, there was never a lack of caring. Each went their separate ways with feelings of regret and neither found anything that came close to the love they had for each other.
It is sixteen years before Archer and Bennett meet again.
I met the members of this band in earlier books of this series and enjoyed the earlier stories. I felt that the author set a beautiful table for this series, set in multiple locations as the band was operating from an NYC base and touring nearly constantly. The name Downward Spiral, unfortunately, describes the current state of this band and it’s members as we join Josh, the drummer for his story. Although Jude is the major character of this story, other members of the band are secondary characters integral to the story, especially Lincoln.
The quick rise to success with unanticipated fame with constant touring has negatively affected each member of the group, individually and as a group, but none more than Jude. His relationship with family and his own self-talk is a catalyst for a self-perpetuating cycle of behavior followed by guilt, followed by more bad behavior. Because he’s been told he’s worthless, and his own father didn’t care enough to hold him accountable, he believes that he is worthless. He increasingly lives up to his own self-image and the image that he believes others hold of him. His self-defeating behavior continuously reinforces his belief that he is worthless. We join Jude, his band manager/friend Archer at a point when the situation has come to a breaking point. Something needs to change. Archer has taken responsibility for everything to do with the band, both personal and professional he finally reaches the conclusion that he needs help. Despite personal misgivings, he calls former lover Bennett who is a highly regarded celebrity handler. For Bennett, life is about structure and rules, consequences, punishments and reward and above all control. At loose ends, Bennett is interested in the challenge but he has more than handling Jude on his mind.
For some, this story could have triggers of self-harm, overdose.
This exciting and deeply satisfying story includes blazingly erotic, explicit sex, consensual dominance and submission and mild daddy kink.
I highly recommend this series, read in order. Although it is possible to read this as a standalone, the reader is doing his or herself a disservice by not starting at the beginning. Pardon me while I start again with Replay #1. This is so good!
The triad of Jude, Bennet and Archer was perfect. Each fitting each other like puzzle pieces.
The dynamic was fascinating. Jude has never experienced unconditional love only indifference. Bennet and Archer are there for him like no one else has ever been.
The path they all take is not easy but it’s very necessary to their overall happiness.
This is probably my fave of the series. The depth and feeling of the characters was amazing. I know I’ll definitely be re-reading this one!
I loved this book.
4 stars!
Kinky Rockstar/ second chance MMM Romance
*I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily reviewed it*
This is the 3rd book in the Replay series and I was unsure if I was going to like this one because of the kinkiness but it was really well written and the kink was on the lighter side.
This book follows band member Jude through a drug and prostitute fueled meltdown where band manager, Archer, is forced to hire his ex-boyfriend and celebrity rehabilitator, Bennett, to whip Jude into shape. Mild D/s and Daddy kink are explored and, as always, love is realized.
What I really liked was that the kink was really well executed. Daddy kink is often confusing for a reader who isn’t into that kink and I appreciated that it was addressed in a really understanding way in this book. What I loved was that their relationship felt organic and it didn’t feel forced. It hurt my heart that Jude went through such a hard time and has spent the last 10 years self-medicating. I hate second chance romances because it feels like so much time is wasted that could have been spent together but the author does a great job of really making you feel the pain and longing.
But maybe the best thing about book 3 is that we FINALLY find out what is going to happen to the band!!! That was a MAJOR cliffhanger in the first 2 books and after you read the book you will know what is about to go down!
Overall, this was a great addition to the replay series. This author really knows how to make you feel. I am looking forward to the next book!
