Some men just have more to offer. Like hard-muscled, shape-shifting Bo Novikov–part polar bear, part lion, pure alpha. . .Ten years after Blayne Thorpe first encountered Bo Novikov, she still can’t get the smooth-talking shifter out of her head. Now he’s shadowing her in New York–all seven-plus feet of him–determined to protect her from stalkers who want to use her in shifter dogfights. Even … dogfights. Even if he has to drag her off to an isolated Maine town where the only neighbors are other bears almost as crazy as he is. . .
Let sleeping dogs lie. Bo knows it’s good advice, but he can’t leave Blayne be. Blame it on her sweet sexiness–or his hunch that there’s more to this little wolfdog than meets the eye. Blayne has depths he hasn’t yet begun to fathom–much as he’d like to. She may insist Bo’s nothing but a pain in her delectable behind, but polar bears have patience in spades. Soon she’ll realize how good they can be together. And when she does, animal instinct tells him it’ll be worth the wait. . .

This is one of my go-to books when I have a bad day. This book has a little of everything in it, from a hero who is so bad with other people he’s utterly relatable in terms of how we can put our foot in it constantly. He just takes it to extremes. He also represents a group of people who get sidelined more often than not.
I like books that take care to represent in a positive fashion–and while this is over-the-top, I know people just like Bo, and as such, it’s utterly relatable to me.
And well… Blayne just makes me laugh every damned time.
This book contains explicit sex scenes, but there’s a lot of good story here, too. So, if you want laughs, some naughtiness, and generally a good time… this book might be for you.
If you have not read a book by thisbauthor- you need to remedy that situation asap.
You can read this book as a standalone- or better yet, read the whole series 🙂 – you don’t have to read them in order, so why not start here 🙂
BO is amazing ( readers meet him in other books) whats not to love about a giant, cereal killer looking guy? And then.. theres Blayne.. hyper, short attention span, with plenty of surprises up her sleeve -Blayne.
This book will have you laughing, cringing, shaking your head, and hot and bothered!
Don’t forget to check out the Magnus Pack as well as the Badgers
5 stars – I loved it!
When Blayne Thorpe first met Bo Novikov he terrified her. Now ten years later she keeps running into him and she realizes there is more to him than the grumpy aggressive hockey player everyone thinks he is. She offers a trade, he helps her with her focus during roller derby and she will try to help him with his attitude.
I adore these two. Bo is such a surprisingly complex shifter. He is extremely aggressive and focused on his career in hockey but around Blayne he relaxes a little. He is still OCD and strict with his schedule but he laughs more and actually starts living. Also I loved his sense of humor that slowly came out as the book progressed. Blayne is the crazy wolfdog that was introduced in the previous books. She is always happy and energetic, at least until someone pushes her too far.
Between the weird and hilarious conversations, their steamy relationship, and their fights for the championships in hockey and roller derby, these were an extremely fun couple who I instantly loved. I am really loving these hybrid couples and look forward to more crazy shenanigans in the next book.
I’ve read many books by this author and more, and this book along with a few others I have read over and over again, their that good.
Audiobook review
I had such a great time listening to this book! I was actually at work with my headphones on and I had such a hard time not to laugh out loud during so many moments. This story about Blayne a wolf-dog hybrid and Bo a lion bear mix breed was the kookiest and the most mismatched couple I’ve ever read and I loved it all. I adored Blayne with all her quirks and her weirdness, she was hilarious! And her interactions with Bo, with his OCD tendencies, with his watch and his lists, had me smiling so much my face hurt. They are completely opposites of each other but they somehow complimented each other.
The actual storyline also kept me entertained. Blayne is targeted by humans to be kidnapped and used in hybrid dogfights. Unfortunately people close to her decided she was too weak and actually too nice to be able to protect herself. I absolutely loved how she proved everyone wrong!! Even though Blayne’s first and actually the second meet with Bo was terrifying for her (hilarious for us), he became instrumental in keeping her safe.
The narrator, Charlotte Kane, did an excellent job with bringing Blayne to life. This was almost a 12 hour audiobook, I listened to this all through my 8 hours at work and then continued on at home, it was just that good!
love this series
Hilarious with a good story line. Not a serious book and doesn’t take itself serious ly. All the characters are interesting.
Love this book! I have reread it twice and plan on doing it again soon.
I absolutely loved it and i would definitely recommend it.
Another great read.
Love Shelly Laurenston books! Always funny, loving, and full of charismatic characters who take you on a wild ride through their worlds.
~ 5 Beast Behaving Badly Stars ~
Beast Behaving Badly is book five in the Pride series by Shelly Laurenston. I absolutely love this series and its quirky fun loving characters. It can be read as a standalone, but this series is best read, at least the first time through in series order, so you can fall in love with all the characters and supporting characters that are introduced.
I adored this book the first time and the second. This series is one I will always read again and again. It is funny, sexy and entertaining. The characters always have something funny to say, they have loads of fun together, and I just love the family feel. Family is so important to all these shifters. As for the story it’s fast paced and hilarious.
Our Leads: Blayne, I love her. She is just crazy, all over the place, and constantly underestimated. Even her friends underestimate her. They have no idea what she is capable of. Bo, I just love him and his fox companions. He is so uptight, schedule oriented, and cranky. You would never expect him to joke, but he gives Blayne as good as he takes. Watching these two was so entertaining, as complete opposites attract.
Beast Behaving Badly was a hilariously, fun, and entertaining read. I highly recommend this series. The characters are so infectious and fascinating.
I never miss a book from Laurenston. Heepers.
