“What a wickedly powerful read! The connection between these characters is felt in every interaction!” London is everything I should stay away from. Sweet, perfect, and my best friend’s girl. She’s also pregnant with his kid. A kid who will never know its dad – because of me.She spends her life fixing things…and I spend mine breaking them. The woman has this whole messed up theory that she can … messed up theory that she can heal me, but I’m not just damaged, I’m irreparably broken. Wow what a book that will absolutely pull you through the wringer. I’ve read almost all of C. M’s book’s and my heart will always love those Irish boy’s. This book just like her other’s is a story of a boy (Abbott) who fell in love with a girl (London) he thought he wasn’t good enough for that she deserved better.
He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man.
Something happens that he blames himself for and as they’ve grown up Abbott has grown bitter and has hardened his heart, but London she see’s the man he is and who he can be if only she can convince him.
“He who accepts his failures and learns from them, can overcome the beast and be the man he was destined to become.”
This book was one emotional rollercoaster of a book. I didn’t want to put it down the whole time. This is a must read.
“London, you’re the air I breathed when I was suffocating. The light in my world when I saw nothing else but darkness. You saw me when I couldn’t see myself. You saved me…”
This is just my opinion and my review
Audio Review:
Beast (Savages and Saints, Book 4) is well performed by Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St. Claire. These two have so much chemistry between them they fall right into the characters and bring their lovestory to reality like. Childhood friendships, battling inner demons and a chance at love. The two epilogues were just perfect. A entertaining listen with fabulous narrators.
Another amazing story from this series! The story is wonderful. The characters are great! London is so gracious and Abbott is just a black sheep of his family. They have been best friends forever. They thought they could never be together..each for their own reason. That second epilogue?!?! OMG. How adorable!
I loved following Abbott along on his journey. He has had it hard and bad until that’s all he thought he was. I enjoyed watching his transformation. London is just different. She isn’t sad or down about Kyle. She is just moving forward. That includes her infatuation she has always had with Abbott.
I listened to this on audio. Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St. Clair are the narrators. I could listen to these two all day! They play off each other so well and I love their character voices.
This is the fourth book in the Savages and Saints Series. I love this Series! London and Abbott (Beast) are childhood friends. I love how they get their chance at love together. This story is beautiful and sweet. Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St. Claire did an amazing job with the duet narration. I enjoyed it.
~~ 4.5 BEAUTIFULLY BEASTLY STARS! ~~
“I’m a beast, tormented by my sins…”
I have loved every standalone book in the Savages and Saints series by the gloriously talented C.M. Seabrook, but after the big climactic showdown in the third installment, I was chomping at the bit to read Abbott’s story in BEAST!
In my opinion, there’s nothing more intoxicating than a redemption story featuring a black sheep hero with a checkered past, and when said hero is hopelessly in love with his best friend’s girl it’s an embarrassment of riches. Oh, and did I mention that the heroine has a bun in the oven and that Abbott holds himself responsible for her baby daddy’s demise? Talk about angst and drama galore!
THE PREMISE:
Abbott Savage, a fighter in and out of the octagon, has always left a path of destruction in his wake. His downward spiral began with a life altering mistake that he made years ago and the guilt, self-hatred and remorse has been eating him alive ever since. As such, he has always known he’s not good enough for his childhood best friend, London McClain, who is sweet as sugar and the only bright ray of sunshine in his life. So, he made the ultimate sacrifice and set her up with his best buddy, Kyle, a man who was more worthy of her love. And while it gutted him watching the girl he loved find happiness with another man, he knew stepping aside was the right thing to do. But now his best friend is gone and London is pregnant and alone and in dire need of a hero. A PROTECTOR. A man to shelter her from the storm. Abbott knows he’s the last man she needs, but no matter how much he tries, he cannot walk away from this girl who always manages to see the best in him no matter what. Can London finally tame the beast inside of him and grant him a chance at true redemption and forever love? Or will the sins of his past destroy them both in the end?
MY MUSINGS:
C.M. Seabrook captivated me from start to finish with BEAST! Take one big, muscly, bad boy hero and mix him in with a sweet, kind-hearted damsel in distress and you get a recipe for PURE PERFECTION!
This book is chock full of many of my favorite tropes but it is FAR from a cookie cutter tale. On the contrary, the author crafted a passion-fueled, poignant story about hope, healing, forgiveness, the powerful bonds of love, friendship and family, and the beauty of second chances. I really enjoyed the way she executed this tumultuous, tender-hearted love story, and the manner in which she juxtaposed flashbacks into the present to home in on the H&h’s tumultuous history, and expose the devastating dark skeleton in Abbott’s past, added even more emotional layers into this uber provocative tale.
And Omg! I FREAKING LOVED the chemistry between Abbott and London. Their connection was undeniable, their destiny written in the stars and their love scenes were deliciously steamy, tantalizingly torrid and infused with so much depth of feeling it took my breath away! And prepare yourself for quite the adrenaline rush, because the journey these two embark on together is pulsing with heart-stopping emotion, high stakes drama , palpable sexual tension, and sizzling passionate intensity!
The character development was also stellar. Gah! I swooned so hard over this broody black sheep! Abbott’s so deliciously primal and ferociously protective…but sob….at his core he’s such a dark, tortured, broken soul. For years he’s been harboring a tragic secret from his past that has led this wild, untamed beast of a man to erect an iron fortress around his heart to keep his loved ones from getting too close.
“He carries his darkness around him like a shield, his damaged heart a sword that he uses to wound those he cares about.”
But his time for trying to drown his pain in women, booze, fighting and dangerously reckless behavior is about to end. Because London needs him to step up the plate and there’s NOTHING that he won’t do for this girl. So, for her sake, he’s determined to turn his life around and claw his way out of the darkness. But it’s easier said than done…
Meanwhile, London has been infatuated with Abbott since he rescued her from playground bullies at the tender age of ten. But even though her feelings morphed from hero worship to full-fledged love as they grew older, and the attraction was more than mutual, she reluctantly moved on with his best pal because she feared they’d never have a shot together. But deep down the dimpled, dark-haired beauty has never stopped pining for him even when she eventually found happiness with Kyle. Which turned out to be tragically short lived. London knows that playing house with the “beast of Port Clover” can end in more heartbreak. But now that Abbott’s vowed to stand by her throughout her pregnancy and beyond, she is determined to risk it all to fuse his broken pieces together and help make him whole.
I CHERISHED this heroine! Despite all the hardships she’s endured in her life, the pretty, pure-hearted nurse is a true survivor and radiates so much hope and goodness. She’s the light to Abbott’s dark and I adore how her belief in him never, ever wavers and that she refuses to give up on him even when all the other Savages have pretty much washed their hands of him. But can her love alone eradicate the dark demons from his past?
Sighhhh. While the road to HEA was not always easy for these best friends turned lovers, and they had quite a fight on their hands at times, ultimately the payoff was oh so sweetly victorious! I also thought the author did an INCREDIBLE job of weaving the Savage family and all the other secondary characters into the fabric of the story, and the Moody and Theo cameos were THE BOMB!
BOTTOM LINE:
BEAST was absolutely riveting from start to finish and proves yet again that C.M. Seabrook is a TRUE CHAMPION in my book!
Highly recommend!
Can this beast get past the demons that torment him and find the love he deserves? Abbott and London are childhood friends who needed to overcome some big hurdles. I loved their story, and I found myself liking Abbott despite his actions. Wonderful angsty romance!
Beast will pull you in and you will not want to stop listening. Abbott wants his deceased best friend’s girl, London. But they are best friends as well. Will London ever see Abbott as more than a friend? It is well worth the listen to find out. The chemistry is intense even though they deny it. The struggles ,emotions and list are all so real. It is easy for a reader to feel all the feels along with the characters. There are twists and turns and the ending is so healing.
Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St. Claire bring out these characters. Gunnar narrated Abbott as I imagined him. Gunnar is able to bring out the strong, alpha in Abbott, yet still bring out all of his troubles and emotions. Jenna narrates London as the strong, independent woman I imagined her as. Theses characters are very complex and both Gunnar and Jenna narrate them with ease. I enjoyed this narration.
Beast
Savages and Saints, Book 4
By: C. M. Seabrook
Narrated by: Gunnar Qualen, Jenna St. Claire
I have patiently waited for this book and it is well worth the wait! CM Seabrook brings us Beast! Appropriately titled, we start the book with Abbott, still in self destructive mode, and pining after his best friend’s widow. London, pregnant and watching after her childhood best friend, Abbott, these two have a chance to find love. This is a mixture of some of my favorite tropes, with childhood friends, and second chances at happiness. Seabrook gives us such a great story, with history of their past relationship, a chance to see what each one is made of, and if they will find their happily ever after. It’s moving, has redemption and passion, giving us all the feels we love to have.
Gunnar Qualen and Jenna St Claire give an amazing performance. These two nail down the complexity of the characters and give each their due. Qualen is perfect as Abbott. He is growlie, yet vulnerable and he adds some real feelings to this alpha male. St Claire picks up on London’s strength and pulls out her feelings with real emotional tugs. I loved their performance!

The great character and storyline development kept me totally engaged throughout the entire book! I always enjoy reading what this author writes!
This series has put me through the emotional wringer! We finally get our Hero, Abbott’s story, of why he continues to spiral seemingly, out of control. We’ve glimpsed his dark side in some of the other books in the series until now, we don’t know what demons he’s been fighting. He and our heroine, London, have grown up together as best friends in their small town of Port Clover. They each develop “more than friends” feelings as they grow older, but Abbott doesn’t feel he’s worthy and believes London deserves someone better than him, like his best friend, Kyle. When Kyle dies unexpectedly, leaving London alone and pregnant, Abbott steps up again to help his “good friend”, London. Will Abbott believe her if she reveals her deep love for him? Will he let himself believe her? So many feels in this story…heart-wrenching at times to feel Abbott’s guilty pain….
London and Abbott have been best friends for a while. Abbott has loved London but he doesn’t think he is worthy of her. He has secrets from his past that he hasn’t dealt with yet. He drinks and has numerous women but when London needs his help he must straighten up and help her. London’s fiance’ dies leaving her pregnant. London has loved Abbott for a while but thought he didn’t feel the same. But now she needs his help. But wrong assumptions and not communicating are damaging their relationship. Can these two come clean with each other to further their love?

4.75 stars
Abbott Savage has always felt that he was the black sheep of his family and as the youngest brother, he sometimes went out of his way to prove it. London has been Abbott’s best friend since the time they were kids together and she has always loved him. As the two grew up, they were there for each other but just as friends as Abbott believed he was not good enough for London. Yet when London finds herself pregnant and alone, Abbott wants to step up and help. After everything Abbott and London have been through, will they be able to make a relationship work? This is one emotional read and brings to mind the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast. The reader just cannot help but fall for the complexities that make Abbott who he is; the good, the bad and the ugly but all is not as it seems. This is a beautifully written second chance love story.

Wow, what an incredibly emotional read.
This book is absolutely beautiful and emotional. It brings to mind Beauty and the Beast only this beast is self-made and a cage fighter through and through. Abbott rescued London from the boys that were teasing her when she first moved to Port Clover when she was just a little girl. That’s the day they both lost their hearts to each other without ever knowing how the other felt. They became best friends, but when tragedy struck Abbott blamed himself and withdrew inside and became a beast at the young age of fourteen. He kept London at arms length and even pushed her towards his best friend, Kyle. When tragedy strikes again Abbott finds himself self-destructing all over again. He drowns himself in booze, women, drugs and fighting just to stay away from London. Can this beast of a man ever forgive himself and claim his beauty? Or is he destined to be alone forever? Grab this truly intense emotional read and find out today. Great read and I highly recommend it.

London is alone and pregnant after his boyfriend gets killed.
Abbott has always been in love with London. And now that she is alone and in need of help, he just can’t ignore her anymore and the feelings he has for her. He has lots of doubts because all the wrong things he has done in the past, but his love for her and the need to protect and take care of her are stronger than the thought that he is no good enough for her.
I love C.M. Seabrook’s characters, mostly her men. They are so badly damaged deep inside of them that they don’t allow people to know what is really in their hearts. However, there is always a woman who can see through them and see the good in them.

This is book four in the Savages and Saints series and in this book we get Abbott and London’s love story. Abbott and London have been best friends since they were kids and he has secretly loved her for years. Beast is an emotional get the Kleenex ready kind of read and I loved every delicious page along the way to a beautiful HEA. C.M. Seabrook creates characters that are believable, strong and well developed which makes me feel as if I truly know them.
London meets Abbott when they are kids and she’s being bullied. After he takes care of the bullies they are best friends which continues to adulthood. London has always had feelings for Abbott but it seemed like he friend zoned her so she tried to move on. She started dating a guy he sets her up with and everything is going well until he dies leaving her pregnant and alone. Abbott feels like he is to blame and tries to help London but its hard when he wants her for his own. When he moves in to help her with rent and the baby things change between them. Will Abbott let his guilt keep him from claiming his woman?
This is an amazing story that will draw you in from beginning to end. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend it to any book lover.

Wow, what an emotional roller coaster! This book is superbly written. I love a second chance romance and this story pulled me in from the first page. It is very sweet, well-detailed, very emotional, and will pull on your heart strings. The twists and turns and ups and downs add to the overall quality of the story making it an exceptional read. The characters are strong, broken, and I could not help but love and root for them. Their chemistry is off the charts, the sex scenes have sparks flying everywhere – together they are the perfect match. I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

3.5 stars
There was a lot to like in this book and it would have been 4 stars but for the opening scene. The push and pull of their relationship was a lot and not my favorite but the ending was sweet enough to make up for it. Enjoy.
***I decided to review an ARC of this book.***
Abbott Savage has been in love with London McClain most of his life but rightly or wrongly, he carries a tremendous burden of guilt about things he has done in the past and feels unworthy of her. He also blames himself for the death of his best friend who is also the father of London’s unborn child. London has been in love with Abbott since the moment they met as children but settled for his friendship, knowing it could never be more until one night that changes everything. Beast is a beautiful love story and a great addition to the Savages and Saints series.
