Ellie came to me with a bargain. Her life for her father’s, but I didn’t build my empire by letting debts go unpaid. You owe me, you pay. End of story. But this girl didn’t just walk in shaking and begging for mercy- no, Ellie charged in demanding her father’s freedom.
I take her deal, adding my own conditions, of course. I’m not a good man. I’m a beast, and my hunger for her will be fed. I will … a good man. I’m a beast, and my hunger for her will be fed. I will possess her.
But there’s more at play here than just the love of a daughter, the possession of a beauty. Secrets that won’t stay buried. Dangerous desires needing to be explored.
Outside forces want in, want to take what’s mine. And when Ellie finds out the secrets of her own past, she’ll need to decide. What exactly is she willing to risk for love.
An interesting take on Beauty and the Beast
Ellie, the daughter of a diner owner, trades herself for her father to Ashton, local mafia boss, to settle her father’s debts. As the story progresses both characters evolve and begin to learn about each other as with the fairy tale. This story has plenty of meat to it, with heat, heart, drama, and the all powerful HEA romance readers seek.
Erotic read
Because of gambling debt Beast is about to kill heroine Ellie’s father when she rushes in and offer herself to him. A life for another life. The story goes on from there. I didn’t like the first half of the book. Especially the intimate scenes and her punishment scenes. But from second half it became interesting and towards the end the twists and revelations were also interesting. I liked the hero’s jealousy and how his men became fond of her in the end. Beast was a total alpha. Heroine also had strength and she constantly disobeyed him and pushed him. Which was refreshing. The ending was good.
I can’t really remember the story, but as I recall it was fine, with some hot D/s sex. The heroine is a willing participant.
I kept rooting for the girl because he was so cold and unfeeling but I also thought he was hot.
Too much sadomasochism for me. Main male char, Ashland, arc didn’t seem believable.
I am currently reading this book. The ‘H’ is supposed to be a mafia’ish boss. I normally don’t read this genre, but I like the author. I am liking this book because it has a nice D/S thing going on. The sex is good, parts are great, but don’t read this unless you won’t be offended. I have read other series “Protecting His Pet”
and liked it. I will continue to read this author.
Do I call this book dark or not? Whilst it’s not as black as some books I’ve read it is definitely splashing in the shallows of dubious consent at times. It’s a loose retelling of Beauty and the Beast, but definitely NSFW and for adult eyes only. The book became less dark as the relationship grew between Ash and Ellie. They had both grown up in dysfunctional families and lost their mothers, although Ellie’s situation on the surface was happier than Ash’s. His experiences had made him wary of relationships and of course you know that this is only going to lead to problems somewhere down the line.
I liked both Ellie, who had to bend at times but who never lost her fire and spirit, and Ash. He does have some scruples, refusing to continue the really nasty parts of his fathers empire. The darker side of his business dealings were generally glossed over, they wouldn’t have really added to the story other than to make it darker and more grim. I preferred this as it allowed us to focus more on their relationship and understand why/how Ellie starts to fall for Ash.
I believed in these characters, not just Ash and Ellie but also the supporting characters. I’d love to read Peter’s story too …. I’m sure he has one to tell. The story just flows really smoothly, with a writing style that is very easy to read. The pace is excellent, holding my attention throughout and there are plenty of exciting plot twists too. As long as you don’t mind spanking and BDSM scenes then I highly recommend this book.
A new stand alone novel by Measha Stone. It is the story of Ash and Ellie.
Ash is not your typical hero. He is a a bit of a shady type of business, but he does have his own set of morals.. He reminded me of Jax from SOA. Sexy but dangerous. he is not one to mess with or cross
Something that Ellie finds out the hard way. Ellie give herself to safe her father. She is loyal to a fault, stubborn, but with a sensitive heart. She discovers things about herself she never knew. She is able to let herself go with Ash.
They clash, which leads to some very scorching and also funny scene’s.
The story has it twist and turns and not everything is as it seems. It will keep your guessing.
in short. It is a great, well written book with great layered and complex characters.
~WRITING – PLOT – PACE~
It’s not often I get to sneak a non ARC book into my reading schedule but I just knew that I needed to give this one a read. It sounded like a book that would be RIGHT up my alley, and it WAS. It was very well written. The pace was perfect. The plot was engaging and kept me interested throughout. Lasy, it was all wrapped up in an OK ending. I would have liked to have seen an epilogue that gave us a peek at this couple in the future, but maybe there are more books coming and we will see them again in those.
~HERO~
ASH…I liked him. He was sexy. He was scarred. He was tortured. He was alpha. He knew his way around some discipline. He was pretty much all in with Ellie from the start. I would have liked to have seen maybe a bit more softness towards Ellie. Their sex scenes were all very strict and hard. So I found his sudden declaration that he loved her a bit hard to swallow. But overall he was a good hero.
~HEROINE~
ELLIE…I liked her just as much as Ash. She was sweet. Maybe a little naive and a little too accepting of everything Ash was doing to her straight out of the gate. But that didn’t annoy me too much. She was an enjoyable heroine.
~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~
There were a couple interesting secondary characters in this one. I am hoping that Peter gets his own book as he intrigued me a lot. Danny as well. Those two are really the only ones that play any significant role in the book.
~HEAT LEVEL~
High. The sex scenes in this one were smokin’ hot and plentiful. A lot of Dom/sub interactions. Spanking. Belt use. That type of thing. The couple had good on page chemistry as well.
~ANGST LEVEL~
Low. I didn’t find this one particularly angsty. There are a few bumps in the road (mostly near the end) but nothing over the top. There is no OW or OM drama either. Neither were virgins and the past sex life talk is kept to a minimum.
~IN THE END~
I enjoyed it a lot and I hope this author plans to write more books featuring these characters in the future. Therefore yours truly is going to give this one two solid thumbs up.
