A budding romance, struggling to survive in the most hostile of environments.
River wants Darius from the moment he lays eyes on him. Unfortunately, the Ironshore Clan has zero tolerance for humans. They wouldn’t want a human in their borders let alone mated to their alpha. There would be challenges to his leadership. But the pull he feels is undeniable. He prepares himself for battle because … is undeniable. He prepares himself for battle because whatever the cost, Darius would be his
When Darius lost his wife his life crumbled. It’s taken years for him to pick up the pieces and be a good father to his son. Now that things are finally stable, this delightfully suave bear steps into his world and makes him wonder if perhaps he could love again. But River leads a complicated life and Darius worries about getting his son involved in shifter politics. After all, the welfare of his child must always come first.
This MM shifter romance can be read as a standalone.
I loved Darius’s story. River was just what he needed and in turn, Darius and Parker is what River needed. He felt like an outsider his entire life and that love from them is what he needed to move forward. I love that we also get Parker’s perspective on things. I hope there are more stories coming as I would love to see Jasmine and Kyra’s story.

Really enjoyed this story. It delt with grief, loss, recovery, sobriety, abandament issues, death, love, family, friends, hope and future.
This story has something for eveyone, it will give you insight into self help, and bigotry which can’t be helped because they refuse to see it and to change.
This is a love story but so much more.

I really enjoyed how this book tackled Darius and River’s issues, they came across as such lovable characters even as they struggled. I loved Parker, he brought so much joy to the story. Even though this is book three on the series I enjoyed it just fine having not read the first two books.

Great addition to the series…
This is the third book in the “Bears of Southoak” series and it’s a great addition. While not necessary, I suggest reading the books in order as Darius and his backstory is introduced in the first books. Actually, that backstory is why I read this book. I HAD to know what would finally happen to Darius.

This is a great story of figuring out where you belong. River is the rightful Alpha of a xenophobic, homophobic bear clan, but as a gay man AND the killer of the clan’s prior alpha, he is derided and despised by most of the clan. They don’t like him, fear him, and are willing to pay him to leave. You might wonder why he stays. It’s his right as Alpha…and he believes he has nowhere else to go. It takes meeting Darius, a human, and his half-bear son, as well as a terrible loss, to help River see what is truly important to him and to find where he belongs. They were some sad parts in this book, some drama and angst, and lots of sweet, sexy love. I loved the way Darius found his place, too, in a way, and grew enough to support River and to realize he was using his grief as a crutch as much as he had the alcohol. The scenes with the alcohol, sponsor Meg, and the gravesite were poignant and touching. Great story!

Bearly Breathing (Bears of Southoak Book 3) by Kayci Morgan is book 3 in the series f 4, but the first book of hers I’ve read.
River and Darius have a undeniable chemistry. This male/male shifter/human story is a slow burn tale.
It was very enjoyable!

Both heroes are very likable and have definite strengths and weaknesses. When one was weak the other showed their strength and Darius’ son was a way too mature cutie. Their happily ever after was well deserved. Enjoy.
***I decided to review an ARC of this book.***
Bearly Breathing by Kayci Morgan is a wonderful story to read. This is book number three in this wonderful series that I fell in love with. I highly recommend this story to everyone that loves reading about shifters.

This was a bit of a slow burn and forbidden romance between a shifter and a human and also a single dad romance. River had became alpha and noone in his pack seemed happy about it especially since river didnt fancy women and that was the only way he would be able to have children and what good was an alpha who could produce a child who would later take his place? then river fell for not only a man but a human which was also forbidden among his pack but he couldnt help who his bear chose as his mate and his bear wanted Darius. Darius was a single father and lost his wife in a car accident and didnt realize his own sexuality until he met river and his attraction to river was too strong to deny and he wasnt even going to try fighting it.They knew they would deal with many obstacles with rivers pack hating humans and not agreeing with rivers life choices and then people in Darius’s life weren’t a fan of river or his pack either. They saw river as dangerous and did’nt trust him to be around Darius or his son parker. But Darius and river coukdnt fight they way they felt for ome another and whatever issues they faced, they would face them together. This was a sweet love story between two people who fell in love and fought for their love.It was an easy and quick read with some steamy scenes with a happy ending! I can’t wait to read more from this author!
I enjoyed the book. The story and the characters held my interest. The story showed how prejudices can hurt and how small minded it is.
This was my first book involving bear shifters and I very much enjoyed it. River and Darius had such good chemistry with each other and I loved how precocious Parker was, he was such a little spitfire. It was nice to see a novel like this tackle a painful issue like alcoholism with Darius. Seeing his struggles, the consequences of his drinking on multiple aspects of his life, and the affects on those around him. It was very well done. River’s issues with abandonment and anger were also very well dealt with. I also didn’t know this was the third in a series and am looking forward to reading the first two and others by this author.

The plot was well written and well planned and the characters were so strongly written that I couldn’t put this book down until I finished reading the very last page!
A real page turner. River finally finds a home, and grows up with the love of his adoptive parents. He accidentally kills the Alpha and becomes Alpha. The whole clan is upset and tries to get him to leave. River goes to the neighboring clan to try an drum up some business. While in town River saves Darius from a sign falling on him. River and Darius start to spend time with each other. Darius’s son Parker is always around having fun with them. Parker is kidnapped and River has to decide how to get him back. Can they be a family?

I absolutely enjoyed reading this splendid, entertaining MM bear shifter romance. The plot is well-thought out and written with characters that are distinctive with unique individual personalities.
There is: a alpha bear shifter of the Ironshore bear clan looking for a mate & heir (Rivers), his caring friend (Kyra), a single dad battling with sad memories (Darius), his young precocious son, (Parker), a devious bear shifter (Eli) a rather judgmental bear shifter from a neighboring clan (Jaxon), some twists & turns, drama, devious plans, deceit, prejudice, conniving elders, clan politics, suggestions, business deals, memories, attractions, manipulations, verbal banter, misunderstandings, emotional turmoil, abduction, blackmail, conflict, determination, love happiness, steamy scenes & a well-deserved happy conclusion.
I would recommend this MM bear shifter romance.
Love this story! River meets Darius and knows they are meant to be mates. But he is the Alpha of a clan that hates humans and is also upset with him for killing the old Alpha. Darius has a shifter son, Parker who wants to see his dad happy again. Like the ending.
