And desperate times call for Cletus Winston.

I’ve been downloading a lot of free romances lately, trying to understand what the deal is with that profitable genre. (I gravitate more to women’s fiction or literary fiction, usually, but I do treasure a good love story.) Most of them I don’t manage to get very far into before I give up, annoyed by the sheer workaday predictability of them — OMG ALL THE TELEGRAPHING. This one, however, caught me and held me from the very first page with a funny, original voice and two really unique, very enjoyable main characters who don’t turn annoyingly gaga the moment they lay eyes on each other. Quite the contrary. It’s also very well-written, suspenseful, and has the kind of hot sex scenes you don’t want to have to read next to that nice lady on the plane. Fun small town setting, too, and I got a real kick out of the whole Banana Cake Queen thing. I suppose it might be considered romantic comedy rather than contemporary romance, but in either case, it’s highly recommended if you’re in the mood for a fun romantic romp.
I like the “Beard” series. This wasn’t but my favorite but still entertaining.
I loved the characters in this and the dialogue between them. I loved the relationship between Cletus and Jennifer, they were two halves of a whole. They were both smart and insightful, Jennifer was definitely the observer and Cletus the one who schemed and nudged people to get where he felt they needed to be.
This was my second book in the Winston Beard series and just as enjoyable! Will definitely be reading another!!
Characters were not made out originally to be pictured as “smoking hot” as is the case in many books. Loved that! Looking forward to the rest of the series.
The Winston Brothers books are all very enjoyable. Cletus’ book is definitely unusual because he’s not your typical romance H. Jennifer is his match is quirkiness. A good story.
I love these “beard” series — very enjoyable.
A great episode in the series! It’s wonderful how the Winston family is so close, and yet all very individual.
Great series and quirky characters, never boring and entertaining, especially in political times!! Want to fall in love with characters and laugh out loud, this book and series is for you!
Best of the beards!
This book is funny and interesting. In my opinion the characters are well written. I’ve read the first book in the series also. Both are some of my favorite stand alone/series books

Loved the characters. Very entertaining and amusing. Can’t wait to read all in the series.
I hate books that to really find out the end you have to read another book. It’s a good book but i want to read the happy ever after.
This book was excellent! The characters were realistic and very interesting and the way the love story evolved was entertaining!!
