Sometimes love is all that can save you.
Sheriff Marcus Stone was torn between two identities: lawbringer and outcast. He gets enough pushback from the locals when he’s helping with their petty disputes, but his bright golden eyes don’t do him any favors. Two years on the job and they still don’t trust a Shifter in a position of power. But what could he do but bury himself in his work? … could he do but bury himself in his work? Especially after that horrible night he doesn’t speak of…
Angie Campbell had one God-given irrefutable talent: making dead-end one horse towns palatable for big business and development. Where everyone else saw tumbleweeds, she saw commerce and community. It just needed a helping hand, and that’s where she came in. One look at Charming, Arizona and she knew she had her work cut out for her. But before she could even get the ball rolling, a murder brings her under the scrutiny of the dark and mysterious town Sheriff. He wasn’t much of a talker, but she couldn’t deny being drawn to him…
With a murderer on the loose, Angie’s life is in danger. With Stone’s dark past, his future is in peril. Will they find the beauty in one another or be town apart by the chaos all around them?
USA Today Bestselling Author Becca Fanning is proud to bring you this Fated Mates story, packed with all the action, steam and great chemistry you can handle! more
I am typically a Fanning Fan, enjoy reading her books and like the characters but something went sideways here for me. It’s lightly entertaining to read but there are a few too many ‘well that’s stupid’ to be able to really get into the story line. The characters have potential, but it takes a while longer then you’d expect into the book before you begin to like them.
Good characters and fast-paced plot.Enough action to keep things interesting, and of course, romance to spice things up.
Blood Moon has it all. Romance, mystery, action, intrigue – Oh,and a bear! What’s not to love? Marcus and Angie have great chemistry even when they can’t see what’s right in front of them. I’ll admit they did frustrate me to no end at times with their push and pull, but the mystery side of this one kept the romantic angst in check.
This was one of those mysteries where I was pretty sure I had the answer figured out, but the author injected just enough doubt to keep me second guessing myself. It also comes with plenty of action that keeps our characters on the defensive as they try to figure things out.
This first in the series introduces the not so charming town of Charming, Arizona and it’s resident bear and sheriff, Marcus. I couldn’t help but fall for this gruff on the outside bear. Marcus is a bit of loner, but not necessarily by choice. He’s certainly broken by past loss and punishing himself with his guilt, but inside, he’s a little bit of a marshmallow and wants acceptance whether he can admit it or not. Then we have Angie, who comes to town for a job to boost Charming’s image and put it on the map, so to speak. She’s feisty and somewhat outspoken, which is a source of contention with the Sheriff. As they butt heads, the attraction grows and creates a whole other kind of tension.
All in all, Blood Moon is a solid start to a promising series and I can’t wait to see what’s next for the residents of Charming, Arizona and its lone bear.
Take a city girl, a shifter sheriff and a murder and you have one exciting story.
I received this story, this is my voluntary review.
Blood Moon is a fast-paced read. It is action-packed with vivid imagery. It also offers drama, intrigue, and romance with a hint of humor. I appreciated the emotion-evoking moments that had me invested in the characters. I enjoyed the twists and turns of the story that made it interesting. I was also pleased by the chemistry between Angie and Marcus, as well as the progression of their relationship. Their journey towards happiness was engrossing. Overall, an entertaining read.
I was surprised by the plot of this story. There isn’t a pack occupying this story. There is only Marcus Stone; the sheriff of Charming but not a popular one. The populace knows what he is and hold that against him. He keeps to himself and just doesn’t get along with any of the citizens. He was only the sheriff but he wanted to be part of something; anything more than what he was in this town. He wanted acceptance for what and who he was. His past is full of tragedy and he can’t get beyond the hurt in his heart and mind. Now the mayor has hired Angie to revitalize his sleepy town. Angie is a go-getter with a hard-as-nails disposition and a determination to succeed. There is a chemistry between these two but also that chemistry came with the fact that both got on each other’s nerves.
I had a hard time getting into the story. It had potential but I stopped reading a little more than half way through.
The story line was somewhat original, but the book was full of grammatical errors, which I found annoying. I felt some of the background scenarios could have been explained more thoroughly. The apparent common knowledge of shifters was not explained, just treated as a fact.
