The New York Times bestselling author and “skilled storyteller who never lets her readers down” (Huffington Post) returns to her beloved Beach House series with this ”authentic, generous, and heartfelt” (Mary Kay Andrews, New York Times bestselling author) tale of new beginnings, resilience, and one family’s enduring love. Cara Rutledge returns to her Southern home on the idyllic Isle of Palms. … her Southern home on the idyllic Isle of Palms. Comforting in its familiarity, it is still rife with painful memories. Only through reconnecting with family, friends, and the rhythms of the lowcountry can Cara let go of the past and open herself to the possibility of a new career and love.
Meanwhile, her niece Linnea, a recent college graduate with an uncertain future, leaves her historic home in Charleston, with all its entitlement and expectations, and heads to her aunt’s beach house. On the island, she is free to join the turtle team, learn to surf, and fall in love. Remembering the lessons of her beloved grandmother, Lovie, the original “turtle lady,” Linnea rediscovers a meaningful purpose to her life and finds the courage she needs to break from tradition.
In “this tender and openhearted novel of familial expectations, new boundaries, and the power of forgiveness” (Booklist), three generations of the Rutledge family gather together to find the strength, love, and commitment to break destructive family patterns and to forge new bonds that will endure long beyond one summer reunion.

Good story
I truly enjoyed this book, I especially like how all the characters from the first book we’re still there and you got to read how their lives were moving forward 10 years later. Excellent follow up from the first book.
Just can’t read enough about the Turtle ladies of Isle of Palms. Start with the Beach House and keep reading.
It was terrific. It continued where the previous book left off and took off as if it was the next day. I can’t wait for the next book. I highly recommend it to anyone who has read the previous books. I stayed up very late reading one night. Just could not find a place when I could put it down til the next evening. If I did not have to go to work the next morning, I would of read all night l No and probably finished the book. Looks ve the characters, the location, the Lowcountry, and everything about the story line.

Anything by this author is great. The Beach House series is wonderful!!
Good summer read!
I loved this book and felt right at home since I’ve lived in Charleston (actually on Rutledge St) and spent many a day at Isle of Palms. Mary Alice Monroe made me feel like I was right there. Her descriptions of the area and the people were spot on. A heartwarming read as we follow Cara and her return to her beloved family beach house after the death of her husband Brett. She was only 53 and had adopted a little girl. Since her niece has been unable to find a job after graduating college, she agreed to be a nanny. A beautiful story of love, family, history, grief and restoration. I read a reader copy via Net Galley and voluntarily chose to write a review. I have not read the other books in this series , but will definitely do so now.
Great ‘reunion’ book
Loved, loved, loved this book. Interesting information regarding sea turtles. Highly recommend.
