I may be worth billions, but I’m ready to get down and dirty with the local lifeguard. SageI’m a free spirit trapped in an “old money” conservative family. Right before my thirtieth birthday, my father, sick of my bohemian lifestyle, gives me an ultimatum: tear down The Surf Shack in Huntington Beach and build a five-star restaurant. Or lose my trust fund AND his multi-billion dollar company. Jax… AND his multi-billion dollar company.
Jax
As the owner of The Surf Shack, I’ve promised to keep my late father’s shop running while juggling my full-time job as a beach lifeguard. Even if the hot little thing in a business suit tempts me with her conflicting personalities. Is she a business shark in a designer suit? Or a Mother Earth loving hippie who wants to get dirty with me?
Ultimately, we have to decide what’s worth fighting for: love or fortune.
Beach Babe Billionaire is the fourth book in a series of small town romance novels with a splash of humor from a USA Today Bestselling author. If you like strong, sassy heroines, witty banter, and happily ever afters set at the beach, then you’ll love Marika Ray’s Beach Squad series.
more
Marika Ray is an author to watch and read! Everything she writes is a definite must read! I read this book out of order but in no ways did it take away from the book. You meet the characters from the other books but it helps with the telling of Jax and Sage’s story. Jax, a lifeguard who is running his father’s legacy in the Surf Shack (which was built and owned by Jax’s father) and Sage, a rich hippie who is trying to find her way and her dad’s approval.
Sage is sent to Huntington Beach by her father in order to demolish Jax’s shop and build a restaurant. In return she will finally obtain her trust fun and her father’s business. He is a real estate development mogul. Sage wants her trust fund but not her father’s business. She believes she can get what she wants without hurting people in the process. Helping her are the ladies of the Beach Squad.
You learn about Jax and why he does what he does and why Sage is bent on getting her own way. Throughout the book you see Jax and Sage fighting their attachment … they are like fire and gasoline. I enjoyed Jax showing Sage that she can trust him and showing her trust and confidence. He shows her what her father never has and what she longs for.
This book was written in dual point of view and does contain sexual scenes and cussing but it in no way takes away from the story. It is a Contemporary Romance with an Opposites Attract theme. Marika is a wonderful author and this series is a definite summer, beach read. This book definitely makes you want to read the whole series. I enjoy dual POV books and this did not disappoint.
I highly recommend this book and this series!
4.5 stars
This was a sweet and HOT read. It was sweet in the way that Sage and Jax’s love developed and just how sweet they were to each other. Sage gets and an ultimatum from her father. She has to go to California and buy a property, demo it an build a restaurant and make it successful all in one year or lose her inheritance and be disowned. Jax is the owner of said property but he does not want to sell. This business was built from the ground up by his father’s own two hands and is the legacy he left behind for him. It’s a landmark in Huntington Beach. It benefits him to sell since he is working sixteen hour days and two jobs to make ends meet but he can’t. It was his father’s dream. Sage and Jax clash at first but quickly their attraction wins over and they work together to find a solution for both of their problems.
The characters were wonderful and you kind of fall in love with them yourself. This book is a standalone in the series and you do not need to read the other books to get this story but I felt it may help to hear the history of the Beach Squad which is mentioned in the book. (The Beach Squad is a group of friends). I will be checking the former books out soon. The sex scenes are steamy.
The ladies of snark strike again
Marika Ray does not disappoint in her fourth installment of The Beach Squad series. Bringing her signature snark to this reverse Billionaire tale, Ms. Ray continues to keep her readers engaged by providing a lovely and dynamic cast of characters, situations that are unique and realistic, and the HEA people can hope for. This time we meet Sage, a “hippie” trust fund girl, and Jax, a lifeguard and the owner of The Surf Shack a local landmark. As the story unfolds both Sage and Jax find themselves fighting for different things at different times toward the same goal, happiness. Eventually winning the battles that matter: the fight for family, maintaining tradition, pursuing your dreams and gaining love and acceptance. Another stunning addition to the series. If you haven’t read the previous books in the series you won’t be lost; however, these books do provide some an entertaining look into the Beach Squad and the relationships between the characters. This book is a must read!
This series has come to mean so much to me. Every book has something special that just adds that something more to the magic. Marika Ray gives us an extra sweet romance sprinkled with bits of humor and loaded with heartfelt emotion throughout in Beach Bum Billion-Heiress. A adored the way this book was simultaneously light hearted and still pulled at so many emotions. Along with the ongoing theme throughout the series of women supporting women and overall message of strong women Sage and Jax’s story is bursting at the seams with enough swoony sweetness to melt the coldest of hearts.
Sage is a wonderful combination of hippy, smart, sassy, and kind. Determined to pave her own way, but also prove herself to her father she’s a woman on a mission. Unfortunately that mission happens to be the surf shack built by Jax’s father. The thing that stood out to me and honestly made me love both Sage and Jax more (and the brilliant mind of Marika Ray) was this could have been nothing but angst and fighting, honestly that’s what I expected, but Sage is such an amazingly kind hearted woman this story became something even more unique with what comes of this.
Of course Jax himself is an incredible guy too. His heart is just as big as Sage’s and the instant attraction between these two is just the start of the beautiful relationship that grows. With the love and support (and meddling) of the Beach Squad at their backs this book is guaranteed to leave you feeling all kinds of warm and fuzzy.
RIDING WILD!!!
I have to say right up front that I really liked the female lead here. With a full balance of nature and all that. This is one hot, page turning bombshell that hooks you from the start and reels you in for the duration. Marika did a beautiful job bringing the different personalities together and it was truly a joy following as they opened themselves to one another. The chemistry between the two main characters were intense from the start. Sparks were flying and they had an instant connection. Maybe I have a small case of hero worship going on. But dang I love that guy. The characters were smooth and well developed with individual qualities that really brought it to life. The strong storyline played out realistically and fell together smoothly and without a crease. I do have to admit that I was really disappointed. I didn’t want it to end. But I consoled myself by reading it over again and again. Yes! Its that good. I love all of Marika’s work but this is the best series. You’ll fall in love with the characters and root for the main couple. You can feel the things they feel. Its a humbling experience to relate to a read so cleverly designed. Marika never ceases to amaze me. Magnificent job Marika, thanks for sharing this remarkable read with us.
I have never been to California but I felt as if I was with Sage when she arrived in Orange County where she rented a vintage VW Bug and drove to the beach. I could see the blue sky, feel the breeze and smell the salt air. Sage immediately fell in love with everything about California and she felt at home for the first time in her life. She loves wearing long, flowy skirts, big sunglasses and her hair in braids, not the confining suit she had to wear for her meeting with the owner of The Surf Shack. Sage knew she had the background to be successful in real estate, but this was not the way she wanted to go about it . She knew very little about the owner and she hoped he would be receptive to her ideas.
The Surf Shack is a Huntington Beach institution and Jax is proud to serve the community as his father did for over forty years. He also works full time as a lifeguard which leaves him exhausted and with no time for a social life. He is envious of his friends who have met their soulmates and are making plans for the future. He may be surrounded by friends and is doing a job that he loves, but he still feels alone. Sage surprised him with her visit to The Surf Shack, but as much as he would like to have his life back, he would never sell the business his father had built with his own two hands.
Will Sage convince Jax to sell The Surf Shack or will she go back home defeated and a failure in her father’s eyes?
How does Jax feel about Sage and will he be willing to take a chance on love again?
The reason I love the The Beach Squad series so much is because Marika Ray allows the reader, with her vivid descriptions of sunny California, to transport themselves to a happy and laid-back place, where we can smile and forget about life for awhile. I always feel as if I have been on vacation after finishing one of her books and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, “Handcuffed Hussy.”
A fantastic story full of different circumstances than a regular romance. The twist of the woman being one with money was great and I loved it all. who doesn’t love a good lifeguard? Must read!
