All three films in the series, The inconspicuous Guardian, The Legacy Of The Bones and Offering To The Storm were written for the riddle by Luiso Berdejo, possibly best known to horror fans as the co-writer of [ REC ], still the scariest find footage film I ’ ve always seen and besides the third in the series, [ REC ] Genesis which I like a draw. The three films were directed by Fernando Gonzalez Molina .

Reading: Netflix Review: The Baztan Trilogy
I ’ ll be honest. As I ’ ve said before, films revolving around serial killers and female victims, is a story I am fed up with. Unless it does something concern or clever with the plot, I have been known to lose concern very promptly. however, what elevates this narrative from others, is the depth Berjedo layers into the floor, something I presume is taken from the original novels ( which I haven ’ metric ton read ). Amaia ’ s past, the cruelty she suffered at the hands of her mother distillery haunt her, which comes back into her beware as she has to return to the town where she grew up to investigate the mangle .
It ’ s a dark twist thriller, that blends a murder along with the mind of local anesthetic legends in the area very well indeed, leading to a grapple concluding act. In some ways, it ’ s this use of the area along with the history of witchcraft, that gives the story full-bodied layers, as does the well written supporting characters, from Amaia ’ s Aunt, to her sisters, to her team, the supporting characters and besides in her relationship with her conserve, James, besides .
It ’ s profusion that is taken further with the follow-up, The Legacy Of The Bones. Because the filmmakers were intending on making a trilogy of films, they did leave some diagram strands unresolved at the end of the first fib ( again, I presume this comes from the novels ), which take the fib into benighted places as Amaia ’ s discovers more of her families secrets while investigating a case involving murders, suicides and besides the seeming death of young girls or babies. Amaia herself is affected, not only by the reveals into her own past, but besides that she herself has only just returned to duty after giving birth .
once more, the air and details add to the history, which leads to a concluding act that forces Amaia into a confrontation with the horrors of the area and her past once more .
The conclusion of the floor, Offering To The Storm, has the tax of wrapping the history up, while besides, being the darkest one yet. The investigations into the deaths of children and babies, takes the narrative close to horror territory as more of the Baztan regions secrets are revealed, with again Amaia ’ s family heavily involved excessively. This final examination partially does resolve the trilogy well for the most separate, but a plot development here, which I think you can see coming from the former film actually, does, I feel, weaken the main character a bit and besides makes parts of the ending a act predictable .
The draw throughout are excellent. Marta Etura plays Amaia very well indeed, both as a good research worker, but besides when dealing with kin and her conserve. The trilogy needed a potent lead and she is more than adequate to of carrying the series .
Elvira Minguez as her sister, Nene ( or Carlos Libardo ‘ Nene ’ ) plays her partner, Itziar Aizpuru as her Aunt and Benn Northover as her husband conduct an impressive load-bearing cast. They don ’ t put a foot wrong, aided by Luiso Berjedo ’ s scripts .
The music by Fernando Velazquez ( who besides worked on Del Toro ’ s Crimson Peak ) for the three films is very good indeed, adding to the standard atmosphere of the trilogy, enhanced by Flavio Martinez Labiano ’ sulfur ( The Invisible Guardian ) and Xavi Gimenez ’ south ( The bequest Of The Bones & Offering To The Storm ) filming .
As director of the trilogy, Fernando Gonzalez Molina, directs confidently. He allows each floor to take its time to be told, creates an baleful atmosphere throughout as the dark of the stories comes out. Most of the violence happens off riddle, which is apprehensible, considering the victims and submit matter, but what short does happen is well done indeed .
While I was slenderly disappoint with the final movie, overall, I was truly impress with this trilogy. Aspects of the subject matter and the atmosphere recalled to mind the work of John Connolly with his Charlie Parker novels and besides the belgian film, The Treatment ( based on Mo Hayder ’ s novel ).

The ending of the story, does leave some unanswered questions. possibly the author, Dolores Redondo does plan to continue the fib at a subsequently date. If so, then I hope, should they decide to make it into another film, they can bring the key players second, as I for one would be curious to see how the report would continue .
All three are presently on Netflix and I would recommend them, if you enjoy blue thrillers, with elements of repugnance in there excessively .
