Two years ago Violet Vancroft was a nomadic artist who never wanted to put down roots and Andre Shaw was a prominent Boston physician whose roots ran too deep to unearth. Their love didn’t stand a chance-or at least that’s what Violet believed when she received a plea for help from the sister she’d never really known-so she snuck away like a thief in the night.
Now Andre travels the world setting up new medical clinics, and Violet has finally found the family she’d always craved and the roots she’d never known she wanted. When their paths cross unexpectedly, it’s not the reunion either one imagined. But they’ve never stopped loving each other, and after the dust of anger and hurt settles, passion ignites even hotter than before. As the end to Andre’s time at the Cape nears, reality sets in, leaving them no closer to a future than they were before. Violet and Andre are forced to dig deep to discover if they’re destined to live apart forever or if true love really can conquer all.

Bayside Escape is utterly an utterly beguiling listen!
You can’t help but fall for the emotions that are transfixed via the spoken words so equality read by Devra Woodward, Aiden Snow and written by Melissa Foster.
Your transports the storyline to a whole new depth.and filmic perspective.
Which you can’t just put down. That only makes you fall a little harder for Andre and Violet as a couple.
Hands down a wonderfully raw and sexy listen!!!
This is such a captivating and emotional second chance romance! I love the world that Foster has created that is filled with so much love, quirky and loyal friendships, and lots of steamy passion. Violet and Andre have a history that left them both heartbroken several years ago. They unexpectedly meet again, under shocking and awkward circumstances. Their attraction and connection has never wavered all these years, and it doesn’t take long for them to reconcile. But Andre is only visiting Bayside for a short time. When the end draws near for him to leave, can they work thru the things that separated them in the first place? I loved Violet and Andre and how they worked thru their issues. Violet acts so tough, but is so caring, and giving. On the outside, she and Andre look like total opposites, but Andre doesn’t want his life of privilege, he wants to help those in need as well. It was fun seeing friends I care for from other books and how their worlds harmonize. All this was performed flawlessly by narrators, Devra Woodward, and Aiden Snow. They expertly brought these characters to life, immersing me in their world. I was lost to their story telling, laughing, gasping, and sighing from beginning to end. I loved this second chance romance, and can’t get enough of the wonderful friends and family of Bayside!

Bayside Escape was the fourth book in the Bayside Summers series by Melissa Foster. It was also part of Foster’s Love In Bloom series.
I loved Andre and Violet. Violet had been central in the previous books as the untouchable, hard to get to know sister/friend. But we also knew she really liked everyone, she just didn’t know how to show it. Violet was care free like her mother and had never put down roots for very long. That was the only life she knew.
Andre was awesome from the onset. He met Violet while doing mission work over seas and they fell in love. However, she disappeared without a trace and left them both heart broken. I enjoyed getting to know their past as well as their present. I also enjoyed that Foster took us on their journey with both admitting their love never waned. They had enough push and pull in their relationship that they didn’t need that drama as well. I loved how he approached her and truly loved her for her. I also loved the soft side of Violet that was slowly revealed.
In the end, Andre was perfect for Violet and Foster wrote with depth, dimension and complexity. Timing was everything and the mixture of sweet and sexy made it a five star for my current mood.
And a bonus, we have another big family of friends for the series. I loved how they were meshed together as one big family. I totally
AMAZING!! I listened to this Audiobook and not only was the narration on point, but the story was simply wonderful. It has all the wonderful things I expect from a Melissa Foster book! Andre and Violet are probably my favorite Bayside couple so far! I’m not sure exactly why that is because I love them all so much, but the complexity that is Violet, definitely has something to do with it. I absolutely love all the sides of her! So much about her is so unexpected and it honestly made her relationship with Andre and everyone else so much better and deeper. Andre is also amazing. A sexy doctor who rides a Harley who has a lot more to him than what Violet originally thought. Together these two get a second chance and a new chance at discovering how the other was impacted after their original time together. I totally enjoyed and loved this story, this couple and everything about the entire Bayside gang!
Violet has lived a nomadic life her entire life. Her artist mother has flitted in and out of her and her sister’s lives for years. 2 years ago Violet left Andre in Ghana without a goodbye. Andre searched for her but how do you find a woman who doesn’t put down roots. Violet finally found her roots in the Cape with her sister and her family of friends. Imagine their surprise when Andre turns up at their Inn as their mother’s date for a wedding.
Love that Violet is a badass woman despite the fact that she feels totally broken by her childhood. She hasn’t let anyone get close enough to know her deeply. Andre is the only one she ever let in. The author did an amazing job of creating characters that were relatable. I loved all the secondary characters and am looking forward to going back and reading the previous books.
Melissa’s characters come alive in this story! What a fitting story that gives you more insight into Violet, her past, why she is the way she is today, and we meet the love of her life Andre Shaw, who shows up at her sisters wedding along side her mother. Watch as their story unfolds, you will see the effect Andre has on Violet, or as he refers to her as Daisy. You will fall in love and have a new appreciation for Violet and all she’s struggled with throughout her life!
Melissa did Violet right, letting us get to know her better and see what made her who she was today. 5+ stars for this one, grab it asap! I can’t wait for the next book in this series!
Great!
This is a beautiful love story filled with hot romance, compassion, patience, great friends and interesting relationships.
It is well written, fast paced, totally captivating and entertaining and for these reasons alone it is worth a hearty recommendation.
This Bayside Summers series gets better and better with each addition! I love Violet so much and was happy to see this is her story! Love her dry humor and her bad a## self!!
She’s getting ready for her half sister, Desiree’s wedding (her sister even got her to wear a dress for it). Of course, Lizza is late and they are wondering if she’ll show up at all. Their mom is consistent with not being dependable if nothing else. Well, she shows up alright, with Violet’s ex, Andre! And with that, the story takes off with all it’s twists and turns that had me reading way too much and ignoring what I was suppose to be doing!
I’m so in love with these characters! This story was humorous (thank you Violet), raw, sweet and hot!! I look forward to reading more!!
Melissa Foster knows how to create magic with words. The story of Violet and Andre touched my heart deeply. It’s a sweet and sassy romance with wonderful characters and a beautiful set up. Like her other books, this one is heavy on detailing and gives me a vivid imagery while reading. And I love that part so much.
Violet has an unusual upbringing due to her gypsy mother who took her all over the world and let her grow up on her own. But now she is staying at cape cod with her sister Desiree and helps her to run the inn. Now Desiree is getting married and their absentee mom turns up at the wedding with Andre Shaw. The guy Violet left without a goodbye years back as she was scared of all the feelings and commitment. But the truth is they never got over each other. What will happen now? Will Andre be able to drag Violet out of her shell? Will the accidental second chance work out?
In typical Melissa Foster way, the characters have unique personalities. Violet has the exterior of carefree, tough and strong biker girl with all the tattoes and attitude to match. But she is actually vulnerable and scared. She is an artist, a sculptor, a caregiver and just a compassionate girl with heart of gold. Andre may be a prominent Pediatrician from Boston but he is fully engaged in his NGO to provide care to the poor and needy. Violet made him question everything years back while on a voluntary mission and now he travels to less than fortunate countries to give medical care. He is also an artist! This handsome and protective guy is EVERYTHING. You also get the small town charm with a band of loyal and annoying friends. The love story was sometimes bitter and angry. Sometimes it was about heartbreak and tears. But mostly it was about swoony intoxicating intense love.
Reading Melissa Foster’s story always makes me feel like I am watching a romantic movie. The characters and the scenes are so exceptionally well written that I can see them passing in front of me in full high definition glory. I felt I am living inside the book and that’s the best kind of feeling!
Received ARC for honest review.
I really enjoyed this book! It was a nice second chance romance story and I really loved seeing the connection Between Andre and Violet blossom. This was the first book I’ve read in this series and although they are able to be read as a stand-alone, I really want to read the others so I can get to know and understand all of the characters on a deeper level. This was a really enjoyable read, I loved it!
Steamy, raw, and exhilarating! Melissa Foster has such a way of making us feel like we’re best friends with all of her characters too! We’ve always known that Violet had a history she wasn’t spilling, and it’s just come to life before our eyes when Andre shows up on the Cape! Their connection is powerful and the side of Vi that comes out when she’s with him is sweet. The conflict of their story was basically over by halfway through the book, but they were such a cool couple together that I didn’t mind it just being the two of them enjoying each other, and of course she had a whole other side of her life that she had to introduce him to. Really love this couple and this series in general! Looking forward to more to come!
Two years ago, wild-child Violet Vancroft ended the nomadic lifestyle her mother had taught her when she settled into life at the Cape with her sister Desiree. Life and distance had them more estranged than ever, but even grizzly Vi has to admit that she has loved getting to know the grown up Des and all of her wild and crazy friends. Life’s been good … or at least as good as it can ever be when a piece of you is missing.
Dr. Andre Shaw can’t believe it’s her! He attends a wedding, and finds the missing love of his life. He searched for her after she disappeared in the night two years ago, and just when he’s decides to get on with his life, she’s stirring him up again. Does she know how much she hurt him? Did she ever care about him at all? Andre is determined to get answers … whether Violet wants to poor her heart out or not!
Melissa Foster has always been one of my go-to authors for when I’m feeling down, homesick, or overwhelmed with life in general. And Melissa Foster has managed to do it again, as yet another snow storm is heading our way and seriously! Can it not be spring yet! But do I really need spring, when it can be summer in Bayside and I can be lost in her latest release!
So who’s life are we delving into this time in Bayside, well it can only be wild child Violets turn, and to be truthful I have been dying for this book since Desiree’s book and its finally here and I’m literally jumping for joy! So let us start from the very beginning of this book and its finally Desiree and Rick’s wedding and it is too sweet for words, with Violet being the Maid of Honor and taskmaster to keep everyone on track, Violet Vancroft is filled with dread, that either their mother Lizza will either do a no show, or will show up and do something, but like a bad penny, Lizza appears, but bringing someone from Violet’s secret past that devastates her.
When Andre excepts Lizza’s invitation for a break before he goes on another overseas assignment setting up clinics in poor parts of the globe, the last person he ever expected to see was the women who store his heart and left in the middle of the night, but there Violet was! The women he had searched everywhere for, but remained elusive!
Now I’m going to stop my rehash of the story right there, cause I would just give all of the plot away, but I do what to talk about the 2 central characters in this book, and one of them is not going to be as obvious and you would guess. Let’s start with Violet and we could honestly give many labels to her personality: hippy, wild child, rebel, citizen if the globe, but here are some that are not so obvious, insecure, secretive, lonely, heartbroken, feelings of being unwanted! And those last few completely broke my heart.
And then there is Lizza and I will admit I struggle with Lizza’s character, I see that after many years she is trying to right the wrongs, but I cannot get past the absolute devastation she has caused to two young girls, who grew up feeling unwanted and the pain that goes with that, and that truly breaks my heart.
But this book is not a sad book, but one that is filled with love and deliciousness, that captivates your heart and is truly worthy of a least a month-long book hangover!
If you want a story with real life issues and feels, you need this one! Definitely one of Melissa’s best in the Bayside Series. There are so many layers of love and emotions in this story, it’s not just about Vi and Andre. I love angsty stories with feelings that come off the page and from the very first chapter you.feel.evvveeerrryyyything.
Vi is just full of snark, sass, and just says it like it is. Except in this case, she doesn’t say it. She has held a secret, a pain so deep, for so long that she’s literally been living two different lives. Meeting Vi’s other “family” was a shocker. I mean, yeah, it’s totally cool and I love them all, but could you imagine finding out that the person, the friend, the sister you knew had a whole other life!? Whoa! For as tough as Vi is she is equally just as vulnerable. Oh, Andre. *Sigh* This man. I love him so much. How can you not? His heart is so big, his patience and love for Violet is so strong, that it made it easy for him to forgive her. She just needs to forgive herself.
When Vi’s two separate worlds come together and the groups mesh, that’s my fave!! One ginormous happy Bayside family.
Oh my! This book had me laughing, crying and everything in between!!!
Ms. Foster has such a way with words……you just feel like you are right inside the story. Every book I read of hers becomes my new favorite.
Violet and Andre have so much depth and soul and their bone deep love for each other even after so much time has passed just gives you all the feels!
Can’t wait for more!
This is my favorite out of this series so far! And that says a lot since I’ve loved every other book. Something about Violet and Andre though just really, really steals your heart. Both sweet and full of emotion their story has you cheering for these two to get their second chance at a happily ever after from the moment they encounter each other. They’re both so uniquely wonderful you can’t help but love them and the way they feel about each other will have you falling even further for them!
Violet has a very take charge and tough shell disguising one of the biggest hearts in the world. Underneath that attitude is a woman who not only loves big, she loves hard. Hiding away pieces of herself from everyone in her life as a result of her tumultuous childhood with her mother she’s kept even the smallest details of herself from those she’s closest to until Andre shows back up in her life.
Andre is just full of swoony perfection. His sweet and gentle personality shines brightly with how much he loves Violet. Working hard for another chance with the woman who vanished from his life years before he manages to not only capture her heart but also heal pieces of it too. These two will leave you happy sighing long after you’ve finished their story.
Bayside Escape by Melissa Foster
Dr. Andre Shaw had no idea that taking a break to decompress and going to a wedding with a woman he knew and worked with would provide him with the opportunity to find out why Violet Vancroft left him without an explanation two years before. They got off to a bit of a rough start their second time around but once the air was cleared and they realized they were still in love with one another there was an easy romance to read and enjoy. The two are perfect together and provided me with a great evening of entertainment. I am curious to find out who Justin will end up with as well as wondering about a few other people mentioned in this book.
Did I enjoy the story? Definitely!
Will I read more books by this author? Without a doubt
Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars
Violet is a rough tough female who has had a gypsy like existance due to the fact that her Mom was always on the move. Violet was afraid of commitment so when she actually fell for a guy she ran–. Her Mom pulled a fast one which got both Violet and her sister together–but Violet still had a life none of her friends knew about.
Then the man of Violets dreams showed up with her Mom for her sister’s wedding with the guy she had run from all those years ago–Fiasco-as you can well imagine! Then her Mom took off leaving the guy behind—Would these two ever learn to trust each other again? Could Violet learn to trust her new friends and let them in on all she did that they had no knowledge of?
This novel is fast and furious with a lot of soul searching and a bit of comedy–much like life itself.
Another fantastic book from Melissa Foster! Though this can be read as a stand-alone, it only enhances the overall story if you read it as part of the ongoing Bayside Summers series. This is the story of Violet and Andre. Violet is the tough-as-nails sister of Desiree and in the earlier books in the series you are aware of her as the two sisters take over the family business on Cape Cod. Violet is not your typical girl, she wears black, is covered in tattoos, rides a motorcycle, swears like a sailor and doesn’t share much about her current life or things that happened in her past while travelling with her mother.
When her mother shows up at her sister’s wedding with Andre as her “date”…Violet’s past suddenly crashes into her present. Andre is the man she once (and still) loves and holds the key to why Violet is the way she currently is. It’s a wonderful story that takes you through Violet and Andre getting back to where they once were, through the hurt caused by her leaving, their trust issues and their shared history. Violet slowly opens up to Andre and lets him into all aspects of her life, her art, her creative process and through their shared memories – her walls slowly start to come down. She not only opens herself up to him, she opens herself up to her sister as well as her Bayside friends.
I love Violet’s and Andre’s story. Violet has always been a bad biker babe, but now she is also showing us a much softer side of herself too. Andre is a wonderful man. He seems to know exactly what Violet needs. I love a good second chance romance, and this one is beyond good. It is such a passionate, emotional read, with lots of sizzling heat and parts that will make you laugh out loud. This book hooked me in from the beginning, and I did not want to put it down. It is Melissa Foster at her best, and I highly recommend it.
Great vacation read! Melissa Foster has done it again! If you have never read one of her books you should try one. Her stories have relatable characters that draw you in to the story and they don’t let you go until they are finished.
Andre and Violet met while volunteering overseas. Andre was from a prominent Boston family with deep seated roots. Violet was raised by a hippy mother and never stayed in one place long. Violet receives news from her mother that her half sister needed her. Violet is a badass biker and Andre is a preppy good ole boy. They fall in love and then she sneaks out on Andre and goes back to the states to help her family. They run in to each other two years later and it is like no time has passed. They work through their past so that they can step into their future together.
