Their love didn’t stand a chance-or at least that’s what Violet believed when she received a plea for help from the sister she’d never really known-so she snuck away like a thief in the night.
Now Andre travels the world setting up new medical clinics, and Violet has finally found the family she’d always craved and the roots she’d never known she wanted. When their paths cross unexpectedly, it’s not the reunion either one imagined. But they’ve never stopped loving each other, and after the dust of anger and hurt settles, passion ignites even hotter than before. As the end to Andre’s time at the Cape nears, reality sets in, leaving them no closer to a future than they were before. Violet and Andre are forced to dig deep to discover if they’re destined to live apart forever or if true love really can conquer all.

Bayside Escape, the sexy second chance romance from Melissa Foster is available now!
Melissa Foster does it again. There isn’t a book yet that I have read by Melissa that I haven’t fallen in love with. I was so happy that Melissa didn’t waste the whole book trying to get Andre and Violet back together. Right at the beginning they profess their love for each other. Yes they have many other problems to overcome but that happily isn’t one of them. Andre is the best person for Violet. He knows exactly how to get her to open up and to come out of her shell. They are both brilliant people that complete each other. You will never be disappointed picking up a book from Melissa Foster and reading it.
*I received a free copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
I will admit that Violet wasn’t my favorite character in the Bayside series. Violet exemplifies the word badass. Swearing, gruff behavior, black clothes and a motor cycle—yes-that’s Violet. Her behavior bothered me but, Violet loved her sister Desiree and would do anything for her. I knew underneath the tough talk and black leather there was a story waiting to be told.
Bayside Escape is one of my favorites Melissa Foster novels. It’s so much more than I expected. There are a lot of family and trust issues and so many secrets. Violet keeps a huge piece of herself separate from those who love her. Learning why she’s led a double life adds so much depth and emotion to the story.
Violet and Andre met in Ghana when they volunteered at a Physicians Around the World clinic. They shared everything and were passionately in love until Violet left in the middle of the night. The reason she left? Her mother, Lizza, lied to her and told her Desiree needed her. Neither Andre nor Violet has forgotten what they shared.
Andre arrives to Desiree’s wedding as Lizza’s date and this sets the stage for a fabulous, passionate story for Violet and Andre. I loved that Andre accepted Violet and acknowledged her creative side and the tender, emotional side to her personality.
Loved this passage:
‘It was the understated strength and confidence he resonated that had drawn her in. His ability to soothe or tale control with a single glance, a single sentence. When they’d met he was a busy physician with no time for bullshit-Trust me or trust. There is no other option.’
This book has all the feels—it’s emotional, passionate and heartbreaking. Violet and Andre’s story captivated me from the first few pages. Andre is Violet’s true north and their journey home is a excellent read.
The appeal of Violet is that she holds nothing back. Her boundless energy, fiesty spirit and smart mouth are how she copes with a broken heart. Why is it that the people that exude such strength on the outside tend to be covering up the bruises they carry on the inside? Andre and Violet are a wound that never had the chance to heal. Their relationship is messy, endless and in need of more than a bandage. The wounds cut deep. The pain has a life of it’s own. For Andre, Violet is the one who walked away and left him with a broken heart. For Violet, Andre is the man who has the power to break more than her heart. Bayside Escape takes a mess and turns it into something beautiful. Unforgettable is too tame a word to describe this couple. Soul – stirring is more accurate.
Audiobook Review: Bayside Escape (Bayside Summers Book 4) by Melissa Foster (Author), Devra Woodward (Narrator), Aiden Snow (Narrator)
In the past I’ve had the pleasure of reading Bayside Escape. Violet and Andre are my favorite couple. For me that’s something special, because I never forget a character or the way my heart feels when I meet them for the first time. This couple is hard to forget, no matter how many times you revisit their journey. Emotion bleeds off the page and takes root in your soul. Foster continues to outdo herself, each story she writes is better than the one before. Woodward and Snow turn haunting to magical. No one does unforgettable, like Foster.
Ms. Foster has a way of making the world within her books come alive. The characters become your friends and family. Ms. Foster allows us to catch up with those friends and family with each new book added to her series’.
In Bayside Escape Violet and Andre get their second chance at love, but have to work to keep it. I love that we finally get to know Violet better. Andre is the perfect compliment to Violet, but I would expect nothing less of a Foster hero. I think we get a little more insight into Lizza and her motivations, but she still isn’t my favorite person.
I loved getting to catch up with the Bayside family and I can’t wait for the next time!
3.5 stars
VIOLET!!! Man, it’s great to finally see her get her HEA. Violet could sometimes rub me the wrong way throughout this series, but I always knew there was a heart of gold inside. I also knew her story would give me all the feels.
We get to see behind the curtain, so to speak, of Violet’s life. All her friends and her sister know is that she goes off on her own a lot and doesn’t ever give any clue as to where she goes. Due to some incidents early in her time at the Cape everyone assumed she was going out and getting her freak on. That is so far from the truth but was an understandable assumption. Turns out that Andre knows her far better than anyone else even thought they only knew each other for a short time in their past. There was an instant connection back then, and there’s an instant connection when they meet up again. Of course, there are a lot of bad feeling to be aired and apologized for first.
I loved meeting all of Violet’s friends we haven’t met before. Well, we actually have met some of them in other books, just not in relation to Violet. So old favorites were revisited and tied into this part of Melissa Foster’s Love in Bloom universe. A lot of new and interesting characters were also introduced.
Andre is such a caring and warm guy. He very cautiously helps Violet to see that she’s not only isolating herself by keeping her life in separate compartments, but she’s also hurting those that love her. This prompts her to finally open up to Desiree about her feelings going all the way back to when their parents divorced. By doing so, Violet was able to see a different side to that time and her parent’s story and start healing.
There is a lot of love in this story. Andre and Violet (I love his nickname for her!), Violet and Desiree, the whole group of friends at the coffee shop as well as those at Bayside. On and on, there is love and respect for each other and their community. I always enjoy this author’s tales.

No one should doubt by now that I am a HUGE Melissa Foster fan. One of the things I love about her books is how the secondary characters are as much a part of the story as the main characters. Violet has been a secondary character in the Bayside Summers books from the beginning and I’ve always been curious about her story. With each Bayside Summer book I read, I learned a little more about her but Bayside Escape is her story and her time to tell her tale and her time to find her true love and happiness.
Violet has always been a tough as nails, do her own thing, live her own life girl. Now that she lives at Bayside with her sister and friends I get to see a softer (but not too soft) side to Violet. I love how she does her own thing but yet always seem to have advice, an ear, or a shoulder to cry on for her friends. I was excited to see her open her heart and let love in all while hoping that she doesn’t lose her snarky attitude.
Andre is the answer to who holds Violet’s heart and from the first time she sees him at Bayside, there was no doubt that sparks were going to fly and things were about to change for Violet. I was worried when he showed up with Lizza but knew that he belonged to Violet. He is perfect for her. He supports her, loves her, pushes her, and lets her find her own answers when needed. He knows when to ask permission and when to just lead the way. Violets reaction to him is perfect. The snarkiness comes out first then the love quickly follows.
This is the perfect addition to the Bayside Summer Series. With this series, each book is a complete story. The characters make appearances in each other’s books but they each have their own book. The books can be read in any order.
So excited to finally get the mysterious Violet’s story!
Although each of these books can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend at least reading Desiree’s story so you get a little backstory on Violet and how she came to live in the inn with her sister.
It’s Desiree’s wedding and although Vi is a little uncomfortable, she would do anything for her sister. Their mother is a bit of a flake but she promised she would be there for her daughter’s wedding. But what Vi didn’t expect was for her mother to walk in with the love of her life.
It has been two years since she last saw Andre. Violet has always been a bit of a mystery – even to her own sister.
Andre never expected to find his “Daisy” and here she was standing right in front of him – after disappearing in the night 2 years ago. And he was mad. He had been searching for her and here she was right under his nose for most of the time.
This book gets angsty at times, but underneath it all, a second chance romance that moves you in all the emotions.
I adore this series and Melissa. You can never go wrong with a Melissa Foster book.

Avid Reader –
M/F Second Chance Romance
This is the fourth book in this series and while they can be read as a standalone, I highly suggest that you read them in order, as several characters makes repeat appearances. Also, it will help you understand Violet on a deeper level.
Violet is the snarky, tells it as it is, sometimes inappropriate friend that everyone loves. Despite her upbringing, Violet’s heart is pure and so giving. I loved this book because you were able to see a side of Violet that you normally don’t get to see. She had so much going on and despite knowing that she now had a place called home, real friends and an amazing relationship with her sister, Violet still compartmentalized her life. Still reeling from a broken heart, she knows that finding a group of people who don’t know about her crazy history is comforting.
Andre is almost ready to try and get over his “Daisy.” When he agrees to go to the coast with a friend, what he doesn’t expect is to see Violet, in the flesh. He’s thrown for a loop and his reaction is less than stellar. However, he has never stopped loving and missing “Daisy” and when we learn exactly who Daisy is to him, everything falls into place. Despite his feeling like Violet left him without warning, he tries to understand the situation from her perspective. He still loves her without reservation and because of that love, he realizes what their lives and their love could become.
I loved watching these two reconnect. It was real and heartbreaking, but it also gave the book a lot of hope. I really enjoyed watching their worlds come together and to see the softer side of Violet. I think that all of the characters were really well developed, and it was great to see Violet and her sister connect on a different level too. I do wish that we were given more of a story on their mom. It seems like she’s there and gone and all she does is make things worse. I want them to really get down and dig in with their mom one of these books, because it seems like they would benefit from it.

This is the fourth book in the series – I would definitely recommend that you read them in order, as this one pulls together many previous strands and finally gives us the insight into Violet’s past as well as great hope for her future! I am assuming that you are up to date in my review.
Desiree and Violet’s mother, Lizza, makes an appearance at Desiree’s wedding and brings a most unexpected guest, Violet’s one true love, Andre. As we learn why she left him, how he has changed, and that maybe, Lizza was interfering for all the right reasons, the most lovely romance unfolds. And Violet too, much like a flower, unfurls and allows herself to believe that she will not be abandoned, and can share her life with all her friends.
I loved how she immediately recognised that Andre should share in all her worlds, and finally became confident enough to see how much she mattered to others. There were some really intense moments when she came clean to her friends and she definitely needed Andre and her buddy Justin to lend her support.
Another totally wonderful and engrossing read; thank you, Melissa Foster for never letting me down!

This is the fourth book in the series and should be read in order so you don’t miss anything with this group of friends. This is Violet and Andre’s story and I think it might be my favorite so far.
Violet is Desiree’s sister and she is kinda standoffish, she takes off and doesn’t tell anyone where she is going. Keeps things to herself, doesn’t dress like a girlie girl, and rides a bike. So when their mother Lizza shows up at Desiree and Rick’s wedding with a much younger man, Violet can’t believe her eyes.
The only man she ever loved and the one she left behind. With her emotions all over the place, she doesn’t want to let her friends know that there is a past with her and Andre. But the air sizzles between them.
Andre has tried for years to forget his one true love, but nothing has worked. So taking a trip with the carefree woman he met, to the Cape might help. But when he sees her daughter, it turns out to be Violet, the women in his heart. Andre wants to rekindle the relationship with Violet, but he knows he can’t rush things because she might run again. He is hurt when he learns she has been at the Cape for the last three years, putting down roots without him.
Can Violet and Andre make a relationship work a second time around? Will she be able to explain why she left in the first place? What will happen when she tells Desiree about her other life and what she has been doing? Will she be able to let her two worlds collide? Will Andre be able to leave without her if that is what she chooses?
This story was great, and the pain and heartache Violet felt seemed to come right off my Kindle. I just wanted to hug her and tell her to trust her love for Andre and go for it.
Melissa Foster has a way of telling a story that will bring you right in with this group of friends as if you are there with them. You will laugh and cry with them and in the end, I hope you love this story as much as I did.
Reviewers on the Wicked Reads Review Team were provided a free copy of Bayside Escape (Bayside Summers #4) by Melissa Foster to read and review.
I have been dying to read Violet’s story from the moment we first met her in Bayside Desires. She is one feisty, strong woman who keeps her cards close to her chest, and I always knew there was a side to her she wasn’t showing her family and friends.
Violet Vancroft is not only feisty but she also has a heart of gold hidden underneath that tough exterior that she hides behind. We also knew that she had loved and lost but she never really spoke about it too Desiree since moving to Bayside. But Violet’s world is turned upside down when her estranged mother Leeza walking in with Andre, her ex she left two years ago in Ghana!
It seems to be a shock for both Violet and Andre meeting again after so long and Violet is angry to say the least that her mother is with him. But it turns out Leeza’s carefree breezy spiritual attitude has brought Andre to Bayside with her for the sole purpose of fate to intervene. I hated Leeza when we first met her and I still dislike her, she is too flighty waltzing in and out of the girls lives, but that’s an whole other story!
I love second chances, and Violet & Andres story was heartfelt, when you learn of her reasons for running all those years ago. There love is strong, passionate and hot as hell.
OMG…Vi’s love story is EPIC!! From the first chapter I was turning pages like a woman on a mission to find out more about one of my favorite Bayside characters, Violet Vancroft. Vi is the no-filter badass of the Bayside crew, working her charms to help her sister and friends find love, but never allowing herself to find the happiness she lost two years ago. I loved getting to see beneath the layers of Vi, and there are MANY, and I simply ADORED her hero, Andre Shaw. He was everything she needed and all the things she didn’t think she needed and EVERYTHING she deserved in a man. He was incredible. Foster always amazes me with her ability to take characters that have been hurt, or kicked down by life, and have them crawling back with determination. She never gives up on them, and I will NEVER give up on her as an author. Buy it, love it, devour it, read it again and then go back to the beginning and re-read the series again! I cannot wait for Gavin and Harper’s story and I AM DYYYYYIIIIIIINNNNNGGGGG for Justin’s story! Give me, give me that Wicked man!
4 stars
While I haven’t read any of the other Bayside novels, Bayside Escape made me put the rest of them on the list! Andre and Violet are fantastic together. She’s a hard ass biker Chick, uncomfortable with showing emotion or even feeling it, in fact. Being bounced around your entire childhood with no one to provide affection means Violet sees love as fleeting. Andre, on the other hand, has fantastic role models for a lifetime of love, his parents. He knows it’s worth the risk.
The friend group in this book is one of the reasons Bayside now tops my list of my TBR! Effortlessly cool, ridiculously hilarious and utterly unfiltered, just the way I like my friends! Come on down to Bayside, you won’t regret it!
AnnMarie – Alphas Do It Better Book Blog
What an aptly titled book! Book #4 in Melissa Foster’s Bayside Summer books was the long awaited story about Violet – Bayside Escape. This woman has been one of my favorite characters in the previous books in the series. Violet is the motorcycle driving, tatted, potty mouth, bad ass, take no prisoners sister. She is even MORE. Thank you Melissa for making Violet such a beautiful and amazing human. Broken – OMG – we didn’t realize how broken. But by the end of this amazing story you have put her back together again. Andre is the perfect yin to Violet’s yang. Andre knew he wasn’t letting his second chance with Violet escape. I flove the impact that Violet had on Andre! I love that she showed him how he could impact the world and touch so many other people. A very beautiful and soul-touching couple. I laughed, I cried and I even swore at these crazy people. So many favorite characters popped into Violet and Andres story. I cannot wait for the stories to come with all the crazy people we were introduced to at Common Grounds. This amazing Melissa Foster world keeps getting bigger and bigger.
I loved reading the series and meeting all of them over and over again
Audiobook Review:
Finally, Violet’s story is here and it’s so much better than I could have imagined. She was always this tough woman with a hard exterior. And I thought I understood why but this story showed me I didn’t even know the half of it. She had so much more emotional depth to her than I thought and it was truly great to see.
I loved that this storyline didn’t end where I expected. In fact, what I thought would have been the end, and may have been in other books or with other authors, was barely half the story. I think that was in part because it was about more than just two people finding love. That definitely happened, but two sisters also came to know each other more, even when it was hard. And friends were recognized as family that can give you roots. It was about understanding and excepting love and family in many different forms.
What also helped me love this story so much was the amazing narration. Devra Woodward and Aiden Snow did a fantastic job. Devra was new for me, but I certainly want more from her. Aiden is one I knew I enjoyed from previous audiobooks but this was another perfect example of his talent.
I look forward to more in this series and these narrators in future.
4 stars. This was the first in the Bayside a summer series that I have read. I really enjoyed this book. Violet has hard edges and walls that she has put up over time. Her sister Desiree is getting married and their mom shows up with none other than her ex and love of her life Andre. Andre decided to take this trip to try to forget the girl who up and left him and he is as shocked as Violet is to find her. This is a wonderful story of how love is strong in addition to Violet finding the courage to let everyone really into her life. Since this was the first book in the series for me, there were a lot of different characters in this book. The character list link at the beginning of the book was very helpful. I also liked seeing several other characters for other Melissa Foster series. Definitely want to read other books in this series.
Desiree and Violet have felt like they raised themselves since they were young, because they basically did. Their mother was flighty and never around when they needed her. Years later, Violet, the bad girl sister who wears motorcycle gear and acts like nothing bothers her is put through a test when her lost love Andre shows up from out of the blue with non-other than her MOTHER!
This story was about reconnecting and sharing our vulnerabilities with those you love. It took Violet another possible heartbreak to understand where she went wrong with Andre, but they were able to get it all back AND MORE! it’s hot, hot, hot!
The audio was great, I really enjoyed both voice and they brought the story to life for me.
chemistry, secrets, tears, choices
Overall 5 out of 5 stars
Performance 4 out of 5 stars
Story 5 out of 5 stars
The chemistry between Violet and Andre keeps you in the story. How could he be with her and show up to a wedding with her mother? The journey back to a second chance with the one that got away will make you a believer that true love exist out there somewhere. These two had that chance to cement their romance over time, space, and a foreign country. Something had her run and left him heart broken. Just because she ran did not mean she was not invested in the romance they had.
Love. True love can span time. It can keep your heart true and open all at the same time. Its the kind of love that you want to help you through the hard times of life. It helps you keep your eyes on the prize. Clearing up old hurts and opening up the door to more was just what Andre and Violet (Daisy) needed to have the second chance at making their love so much more than the first time allowed.
Violet finds exactly what she has wanted all her life but once thing changes the course of her life and the direction of her future. Andre was not looking for a love to turn his world around but he found that with Violet. Torn apart by circumstance they both find a chance to reunited and make that love of theirs burn.
Sweet Escape was sweet, endearing, touching. There were tears all around. There were truths discovered. Secrets were shared. Family was more than just blood. Friendships expanded. Melissa Foster knows how to open up a story and invite you to meet new characters and want to know more about them. I look forward to meeting all the new faces (Wicked brothers) meet this time around.
Narration by Devra Woodward and Aiden Snow was spot on. Aiden always brings the goods and make the males sound hot and sexy while still keeping the characters clear. Devra brought me clear and concise female voices and gave a distinction to the males. Hold on tight this one will have you needing some tissue and someone to hug.
*3 Stars*
This one took me a while to get into. I was probably about half way through and still not feeling that I was really into it, so I put it down for a couple of weeks. When I picked it back up, I finished the rest of the book in one sitting.
It seemed to take quite a while to get going for me. Also I would keep trying to place everyones names because there are so many characters in the worlds that Melissa Foster has created, and whilst they can be read as standalones, I’ve read so many different ones all over the place, it makes me lose my concentration sometimes trying to place who belongs where.
I didn’t mind either of the main characters in this, but in saying that, I didn’t really connect with them either. There were so many characters in this book, with all the secondary characters, that there was plenty going.
A bit more angst in this one than in some of Melissa’s other books, but nothing over the top either. not my favourite book of hers, but I still look forward to reading more, and learning more about some of the other characters in this one.
Andre has taken a friends advise and went to the Cape. He needed to get his mind off Violet. Little did he know he was going to come face to face with her at her sisters wedding. In seeing Andre for the first time in years, Violet thought he and Lizzie were dating. Violet is one bad a@s chick with an amazing heart and a lot of secrets. As always Melissa makes you laugh and cry. Oh boy did I cry when Violet and Deseriee had their talk. Such a great second chance love story. I loved watching them reconnect.
I love listening to books while I drive back and forth to work. It makes the traffic bearable. I love the narration of Aiden Snow and Devra Woodward.
