Deep in the bayou is a place so dark even nightmares tremble in fear. It has been whispered about for a century, and even the hunters of New Orleans don’t trek into the shadows of Madame’s island, a Necromancer more feared than any other. But all that is about to change.A hunter has gone missing.Cass Willow calls in Emma Rose Crane, AKA Mattie Hathaway, to help him investigate the disappearance … the disappearance of his best friend, Alice, but they discover more than a missing hunter. There are eleven other women who have vanished.
Alice tracked the disappearances to a bar, but more importantly, to one man. Emma and Cass trace her footsteps and land right in the heart of shifters who don’t like Cranes any more than the rest of the bayou.
Through a little investigation and more than a few threats, they discover the name of the man who took the other women.

Now, I’ll say right away that this book is a cliff hanger and a delicious one at that. The Bloodline legacy meet Crane’s diaries. Being two awesome series to mingle together and the suspense is delightful. What will Emma think of Saidie and her of Emma. I can’t wait to see what new twist and turns show. I amnleft wondering what great mystery Apryl Baker will show us with Cass. Will the vampire be defeated and how will this effect Emma. Will we hear more about Emma’s past and her powers that were suppressed. I love the way the character are developed, there growth. I just fall head first into Apryl’s book and before I know it left waiting hungrily to gobble the next one up. I would always recommend her book.
Another great book of course. We learn something new about Mattie/Emma once again, and Cass. Tho he will never replace Eli, I’m glad she has another strong family bond, or does she? I was on the edge of my seat the whole time reading this one. With new information learned and new threats appearing it’s going to be a thrill seeing where they all end up.
To Apryl Baker “ We are all in this for the long haul!”
Yet another amazing addition to the series. I struggled to put this book down and cannot wait for the next one. I would most definitely recommend this entire series.
I loved it, loved it, loved it. This book had me so caught up I finished it in less than a day and then read it several more times. Emma finds out more about her abilities and discovers new ones. We have a new supernatural in the crew that doesn’t even know he’s a supernatural. There are more things that go bump in the night, and one is now stalking Emma. Get it. Read it. Love it.
I absolutely loved this book! The author did an amazing job combining 2 of her series. If you haven’t read the Bloodlines Legacy, stop what you are doing and pick those up asap. I promise you will thank me later and not be disappointed.
So many questions were answered in this book (with answers I never would have imagined). Mattie/Emma truly has her hands full in this book with so many different supernatural beings I could not put the book down!
Love these series! I’ve been reading since Ghost files. I love seeing how much Mattie has grown and all of the new people she’s meeting along the way. I cant wait to find out what happens next! Actually about to restart from the beginning again.
Absolutely love Maddie/Emma she’s gutsy and will always stand up when needed to. I can’t wait to learn more about Cass too! Love these books and if you’re looking for a good read these are where you should start!
Blown away! Don’t be disappoint Bayou Secrets is short because it’s part one y’all! It was amazing. You get so sucked in and the whole world around you disappears. You are there with them in a New Orleans. I read it twice so find the clues! Then I reread all of Legacies, Ghost files, and Craine Dairies! If you didn’t read them BUT THEM NOW because you won’t be disappointed and there are clues!!! I LOVED IT! Impatiently wait for Part 2! #myfavoriteauthor.
You can’t go wrong with Apryl Baker. She is an enchanted story teller with a gift for character development. I have been emotionally involved since the original Ghost Files, and I pray the story doesn’t come to an end any time soon.
Bayou Secrets is an installment in The Crane Diaries universe that takes the hunters to the darkest, deepest bowels of Necromancer country while on a rescue mission for a fellow hunter who has been kidnapped. Little do they know that this disappearance is just the tip of the iceberg and they uncover a serial killer. Can they catch the serial killer? I’ll admit that I came into this series a little late in that I hadn’t read all the installments leading up to this one. I felt a little lost, but not so much that I wasn’t able to pick up on the primary story lines. It was apparent to me that Emma and Officer Dan have been through a lot and they have a very strong bond. Cass is a very intriguing character and provides good opportunity for some interesting story development. Looking forward to seeing where things go from here.
This book is amazing and brings in chacters from another series into this universe as well. I love how they melded the two series together! I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book, Apryl always knocks it out of the park with each book she writes and this one is no different.
This series continues to amaze me with each new part that unfolds. I am dying to see what all Marty/Emma becomes. I love the relationship that continues to grow and tighten between her & Dan, and the fact that she continues to do so much with her life without constantly having to have him right by her side. Of course she loves when he is there to help but she is kick ass all on her own. The side characters are the best, and I love the interactions with them all.
I’m loving this series so much maybe even more than The Ghost File series
It is truly a can’t get enough of read looking forward to what comes next
This book is absolutely amazing! I love how the story line keeps building up to something big while never compromising the quality of the characters or information! I was on the edge of my seat at the end!
In Bayou Secrets Emma Crane may have finally met her match with Kristoff. We learn Cass may not be who he thinks he is, and the hunters learn they aren’t as protective as they thought they were. Book five of the crane diaries is still as action packed as the beginning of the Ghost files series, it is a two part book so I will be not so patiently awaiting the rest of the story. I love Apryl Bakers writing style and the way she paints a picture with her stories. I always feel like I am watching a tv show when reading her books. Just make sure you read the other 4 before this plus the novella Silas so you won’t be lost prior to reading this story.
I was a little disappointed that the book was so short, but then I realized its part one of two, so I am excited to have more to look forward too! There was a lot of action and a lot of reveals and lead-up-toos.
But in some ways the books are starting to get repetitive. Not only do we always have to read the same lines from every book that catch us up on the past. But it seems like its always got the same layout; big super bad evil and Maddie getting seriously hurt almost killed. Her vulnerable body always has me worried. Will it not be a big bad that finally kills her, but her own body giving out to all her powers?
I kind of feel like this should have been the book that came before Red Church. Because it seems like it shouldn’t be that hard to kill Kristoff after she’s already killed a primordial evil.
That said, I am still looking forward to reading Bayou Revelations. And love that it’s a crossover.
I am a Ghost Files / Crane Diaries fan for life!
Great story from Apryl Baker again! This is a great continuation series from her Ghost Files series and book 4 of this series. The overall arc of the series moves along nicely in this book as we get more information about Emma and Cass as well. This book is also linked a bit with Apryl’s Bloodline Legacy series. (Definitely read that series too because it’s awesome, but you don’t have to in order to read this book)
This story was really good, all the character depth and growth is there and all the emotions too. Apryl’s characters just come to life. Please be aware this is a Part 1 book, the second half of this particular story comes in Apryl’s next book. Normally I don’t like when that happens, but this firsthalf ended at a natural break point and wasn’t abrupt in any way so I’m ok finishing the story in the next book when it comes out. And I can’t wait for more interaction between the Crane Diaries characters and the Bloodlines Legacy characters!
Another amazing journey, featuring a crossover. I could not put this book down. These stories keep getting better and better!!!
The Crane Diaries: Bayou Secrets has Emma Crane and her friends Cass and Ethan clashing with an ancient vampire when her newest investigation of a missing hunter leads her to a mysterious island deep in the swamp. The island and surrounding bayou are full of hideous monsters, the kind of monsters that make other monsters cower and hide in fear, but Emma is determined to save the young hunter, Alice from being the next victim of a serial killer vampire. Will Emma and Cass be able to reach Alice before it’s too late? This one had me turning pages feverishly, wanting to find out what happens next!
This book was great from start to finish. I am glad I found this author when I did because she has such a way with her characters that makes you emotionally involved with them. I can’t wait to see what happens next and will be first in line when it comes out.
