This bat likes a good bone… bomb that the notorious serial killer is on the loose. He’s come to enlist Mila’s help due to her encyclopedic knowledge of the notorious serial killer’s crimes.
Too bad he didn’t realize that Mila’s obsession with the atrocities was the daughter trying to make up for the sins of the mother. That’s right. T-Bone’s new partner is the murderer’s daughter. But Mila is adamant that her link to the Bloody Doctor won’t stop her from bringing her mother to justice. They head out on the road, hoping to catch their mark before more bodies pile up. Their mission brings them to the Bloody Doctor’s jail cell where the proof is in the blood.

Mila is a forensic pathologist who works for FUC, the Furry United Coalition. When the Bloody Doctor, a notorious serial killer, escapes from prison it’s perfectly logical for T-Bone, the detective in charge, to partner with the leading expert, Mila. What he doesn’t know is that the vampire bat shifter is the killer’s daughter who has dedicated her life to making up for her mother’s crimes. Together they make a great team and T-Bone quickly learns to trust, and then protect, Mila. I received an advance copy of this book and voluntarily left a review.

BAT AND THE BONE is the fourth book in the multi-author FUC Academy series. Each is a stand-alone, paranormal, romantic suspense story set in the FUC world created by Eve Langlais. You do not need to have read any of those books to start this series – I haven’t, though I wish now that I had.
This is a paranormal, romantic, comedy with elements of psychology thriller since Mila’s mother is a notorious serial murderer who has escaped prison.
I love these characters! Mila is a vampire bat and Agent Thrussell (I’ll let you find out his first name just as Mila did) is a Hairy Coo – that’s a Scottish cow that is raised to be dinner! The witty banter was off the charts funny. I loved the “Edward” (Cullins) jokes that persisted along with so many others that kept me turning the page.
But this wasn’t just funny, it was also hold onto the edge of your seat, fast-paced crime solving at its best. If you like Criminal Minds, NCIS, and CSI as much as I do, you’re going to love this one. Mila even reminds me a bit of Abby from NCIS, though I tend to be more like Garcia from Criminal Minds (one of my coworkers has even called me by her name before! LOL)
I loved this book. I love this series. I want more!!! I recommend it to anyone who could use a bit of a laugh and a distraction, which I think is pretty much everybody.
Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC via Booksprout, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

A very rare combination, Mila’s mother is a world renowned hematologist, vampire bat and serial killer. A heavy weight for any daughter to bear.
Intense psychological thriller and action packed romance. Somehow, the wry and ironic humor works well as a dark stress release.
The emotional connections between the primary characters are touching and more than a little confounding
Great read!

Another great story in the FUC Academy series. This is Mila Starling a forensic anthropologist who studies bones and is a Vampire bat shifter and Detective T-Bone a Highland cattle shifter’s story. They come together when he is looking for information on The Bloody Doctor. What he does not know is that the Dr. is Mila’s Mother and Mila has been trying to make amends for everything her Mother has done. There is an escape from prison, suspense, drama, danger, shooting, evil, villains, twists, and turns, and romance. Mila Starling is a forensic anthropologist and works at F.U.C as an investigator and instructor. asa vampire bat shifter, she works the night shift. One day while she is talking to her bones, when she is interrupted by a handsome R.C.M.P. Officer, T-bone a cattle shifter, who informs her that her mother, a notorious serial killer, has escaped. Their attraction is immediate but the mission ie more urgent.
This is a paranormal romantic comedy./thriller set in Eve Langlais’ Furry United Coalition (F.U.C) EveL World. The characters are fun and interesting. The interaction between the two main characters is witty and romantic. The hot steamy sex scene is explicit so this book is for adults only. The mystery was okay, it flowed well but naturally was secondary to the romance happening. Overalll, I found it an interesting book. If you’re into the F.U.C. World then this book is a must have.

This is a great paranormal romance. I liked it a lot… It is clever and really funny. It is easy to get lost in this book, and not come up for air until it is finished.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, but it will not be the last. This was a very funny book. Great characters, great story. Loved it.

This book is what an episode of Bones would be like if it was paranormal and the characters were shifters. Mila is a bat shifter and forensic anthropologist working for FUC. She’s also the daughter of a serial killer. T-Bone is a Highland cattle shifter and detective for the RCMP and liaison to FUC and seeks Mila’s help when her mother escapes prison. Using her knowledge and insights to her mother, these two race to capture her mother before she starts killing again. The story is fast-paced, funny, and has a bit of romance, action, and emotion and fits in perfectly with the rest of the books in this series.
Calming the storm
Such a fun and quirky read. I completely forgot I was already reading a book and dived right into this story after I read the blurb. I love the way the author took some of my favorite aspects of crime TV and put them together in this catchy little book. The characters are well developed and I connected with them right away, especially the balance they brought to each other. I really enjoyed the action and intrigue that the author was able to bring to the story. She kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end. This is a perfect compliment to the existing books in this collection and I can’t wait to see what the author brings us next.
