Who ever thought that two rival mafias could put aside their issues to work together? Barshan is a business owner and a member of the Russian Bratva who loaned money to Russell Jerome with the agreement to take over the Janick Jewelry Store, Christophe’s, in the event the loan was unable to be repaid. When Russell arrives at Barshan’s office, he signs over the papers and offers Barshan half of the jewelry store. The problem is that Russell never owned any piece of the store and played Barshan. To make matters worse, Russell also made the same arrangement with a member of the Ukrainian mob. Talli is the daughter/owner of the jewelry store as both of her parents have passed away due to some suspicious circumstances. When Barshan and his counterpart from the Ukrainian mob enter the store, Talli explains that the men have been conned and to leave her alone. Unfortunately, there are threats made against Talli and she needs protection. Barshan steps in and swears to protect her. Talli feels drawn to Barshan and the two of them begin a romance. Will Barshan be able to keep Talli safe? Can Talli help solve the mystery that could possibly bring about a return of the Russian Monarchy? This is one story filled with drama, betrayal and what can happen when one becomes power hungry.
I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
oh wow, I loved Barshan!! He was strong, he was Alpha, he was protective and down right dirty and sexy!! I just couldn’t put this one down once i started and i can’t wait for the next one to come!!
Amazing CHEMISTRY brings them together, will the intrigue, non-stop action, and suspense keep them apart?
I absolutely love this series and think that “BARSHAN” is now my favorite book so far. You can read the blurb to get a better idea of this marvelously unique Bratva/Russian Mafia Romance. In all the books I have read, author KJ Dahlen’s shows this marvelous ability to use words to create characters, though flawed, that the reader is compelled to care about and root for despite, or perhaps because of the dire circumstances of their young lives, and the choices they had to make to survive. Because of this woven web of brotherhood, this “BARSHAN”, the third novel in the series, allows the reader to gain an in-depth look into the life of Barshan the man, and the focus of this third the novel. And because most readers have read the first two novels in the series (although this is not a requirement as they are stand-alone novels and can be read in any order) they have already met Barshan and learned a bit about him. The novel is compelling, I could not put it down. The characters are rich, well-developed, and the changes that they go through when romance and then love are introduced and cherished is well worth the cost of the opportunity. While I received an ARC copy of “BARSHAN” to prepare this honest, voluntary review, I plan to purchase a copy of my own to support this WONDERFUL author and what is one of my favorite series of this year. So, get that glass of wine. Sit in your favorite chair and take a break while you read the HIGHLY RECOMMENDED “BARSHAN”. Happy pages!
** spoiler alert ** Talli is determined to carry on her family legacy after the death of her parents. Barshan thought that he had a chance at another legal business, until he realizes the truth. Someone is out to ruin them, but will he be found before its to late? Will Talli give herself a chance to fall in love with Barshan regardless of his occupation?
Was excited to get another Bratva Blood Brothers book and wasn’t disappointed. Barshan was an alpha man, willing to do anything for the woman he fell for. Loved how despite everything going on, Talli had a lot of strength. Great read and cannot wait for the next book in the series!
WAR IS HELL AND SHE’S YOUR HEAVEN!!!
Holy hell. Yep! You heard right. I could sit here and tell you all about every thing thats going down in this read. I could tell you how hard core it is as the scenes play out like a last second save touchdown. I could. But you wouldn’t get how hard this book is to read and live it. And you have to see it to be3lieve it. K has a style all her own. She can have you in tears in one nanosecond and your back ramrod straight in the next. This read is no different. Her scenes and characters are so realistic its like you can sense the foreboding in your gut cause your there and you can see the blood and gore. But then you see him. And you know you’re gonna make it. You have all the twists, turns and unpredictable surprises that catch you off guard and guarantee theres more to come. You know your brothers got your back. K pulls you into a world so real and emotional your in turmoil. Yeah, you know what I’m talking about. The gut wretching, heart squeezing and the adrenaline rush. And she brings it all together so smooth its like silk. One hell of an author. KJ nails it. Thanks KJ
3.75 stars– BARSHAN is the third instalment in KJ Dahlen’s contemporary adult BRATVA BLOOD BROTHERS erotic, romance, Russian Mafia series focusing on a tight knit group of friends, Blood Brothers, originally from Russia. This is Red Star Security owner Barshan Stanikoff, and jeweller Talli Janick’s story line. BARSHAN can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
NOTE: BARSHAN is the re-release of the authors October 2017 BLOOD TAINTED DIAMONDS
SOME BACKGROUND: Several years earlier, five young boys and childhood friends (Yuri, Sazon, Barshan, Mikial and Roman) survived the mean-streets of Russia only to be rescued and reared by a local gym owner Ivan Russo, who would meet his death by a local gang. Seeking revenge against the gang, local Russian Bratva member and soon to be New York Russian mafia leader Nikoli Silvanic would mentor the five young men until they were ready to take on the world, with the approval of Russian Bratva leader Sergi Constantine. When the time came Nikoli Silvanic would take over the New York territory, while the five ‘blood brothers’ would take over New Orleans. The Bratva Blood Brothers are their stories.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Barshan and Talli) BARSHAN follows the quick building relationship between Red Star Security owner Barshan Stanikoff, and jeweller Talli Janick. Several months earlier Barshan loaned businessman Russell Jerome a quarter of a million dollars, a loan that came due shortly after the death of his beloved wife Claudette Janick-Jerome. Unable to make restitution Jerome offers his late wife’s share of Christophe’s Jewellers, a family owned business currently run by the owner’s daughter, shares Russell had no authorization to offer. Enter Talli Janick, sole owner of Christophe’s Jewellers, and the woman with whom Barshan will fall in love. What ensues is the quick building romance between Barshan and Talli as Talli is targeted by an unknown source.
Barshan Stanikoff suspects he has been conned especially with the appearance of the Ukranian mob. With threats against our heroine’s life including several break and enters, assault and a fire that almost destroys Christophe’s Jewellers, Barshan claims Talli as his own in order to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love. Talli is a strong-willed, talented heroine but the on-going intimidation and threats place our heroine in a life-threatening situation. All evidence points to something to hide, something that is far more precious than anyone could have imagined.
Like the two previous story lines, the relationship between Barshan and Talli is very quick to develop. Barshan’s attraction to Talli is immediate, and within hours our hero claims Talli as his own, much to the bewilderment and objection of the Ukrainian mob. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
All of Barshan’s Bratva Blood Brothers play secondary and supporting characters. The Ukrainian and Russian mobsters must work together to solve the mystery that is Russell Jerome, a mystery that could affect the history of the Russian families.
BARSHAN takes liberty with some of the history of the Russian Imperial Romanov family- a history fictionalized and fantasized by many authors and historians throughout the years.
BARSHAN is a quick read; an edgy, insta-lust/love romance between two people thrown together by betrayal and vengeance, greed and power. The premise is thrilling; the characters are colorful and dynamic; the romance is provocative and tender.
On the down side, BARSHAN does require another round of editing in that there are missing words, and several errors that should have been caught before publication. And, as this is the re-release, there is no excuse for the publication of a book without a second attempt at proof-reading.
