Never one to play it safe, Mitzy blatantly ignores the warnings of her entitled feline and risks everything. She even cons her interfering Ghost-ma into helping her with an alarming undercover plan. Wow!!! Bars and Boxcars is an amazing book! I could not put the book down. I don’t know how this series can keep getting better but this might be the best book yet. This book is exciting, fun and engaging. The characters are fantastic. Mitzy is incredible. She is witty, smart and so brave. I love how the characters and their relationships grow through the series. This book is an absolute must read. I love it!!!!
Ten stars!
The opening drew me in right away: it took me like two sentences and I was ba-a-ack! Oh how I love this series. And this was even better than the others, how that is even possible I don’t know. Ten stars from me! I kept on reading way past my bedtime. Just couldn’t put it down. So good. The book I started after I finished this one paled in comparison, even though that was pretty good too, but this one was so good it leaves other books behind by a mile!
Mitzy has matured! Well, only a bit, so don’t worry! And oh-my-ghost I love Ghost-ma! But oh Mitzy, Mitzy, what have you gotten yourself into this time! She has such a talent for gettin’ into trouble! You gotta read this, y’all! (I know we’re talking almost-Canada, so if you want to understand this Southern phrasing, just read the book!)
LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! this series. Mitzy has quickly become one of my favorite mystery characters. I can’t forget about Pye, Ghost-ma & the rest of the crew. They are awesome also!
I am always sad when I’m finished with a book in this series, I can’t get enough. Pin Cherry is a place that anyone would like to call home (minus the murders of course!). The characters, setting, & stories are well written. This one involves an old fashioned train robbery, with at Mitzy Moon spin of course. Pick up a copy to see how it all plays out.
OMG I JUST LOVE THIS SERIES!!! I CANT GET ENOUGH!!!! I cant wait for the next one to come out I wish it were out already. Once I open it I could put it down until I was finished fished reading I highly recommend reading you will love it like I did.
The opening of her dad’s new project, modern day train robbers, a missing little boy, Sheriff Erick with his arms around another woman, and a sick Pye.. wow!!! Mitzy definitely has her hands full in this latest edition. It is the opening of the Duncan Restorative Justice Foundation and as everybody talks and smoozes, Deputy Paulsen comes through the crowd looking for a judge for a warrant and Mitzy’s psychic mood ring gives her a vision involving train tracks, she knows that it involves her family and that she will do anything to make sure her dad is not involved. So after this shindig is over, Mitzy is determined to get to the bottom of this but she may have bitten off more than she can handle in this one. This one may cost her life!
This series continually get better and better. It’s an addictive series and always leaves you wanting for more. Absolutely loved it.
I chose to read this book after receiving a free e-copy. All opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased.
I read the first five books in this series, and I really enjoyed them, so I was happy to read this book when it was available.
Mitzy Moon finally has a family since she inherited her grandmother’s bookstore. She’s gotten to know Grams in her ghostly form, and I was happy to see more of her father in this book. All of the main characters are unique, flawed, and loveable. Mitzy is clumsy, smart, and hilarious. Grams is a force of nature. Jacob, Mitzy’s father, went to prison for a robbery when he was younger, but now he’s trying to give back to the community as well as getting to know his daughter.
Mitzy always attracts trouble. She has some psychic gifts that can often get her out of trouble, but they also get her into trouble in the first place. Bars & Boxcars is no different. When her father’s trains are being robbed by a professional gang, Mitzy decides to look into it. The problem is, she gets more than she bargained for.
I always like the Mitzy Moon stories. They’re funny, suspenseful, and there’s always a little romance, especially between her and the sheriff. I’m looking forward to number seven!
Another wonderful book in this series. Each one keeps getting better and better.
Love all the wonderful characters. Can’t wait to read the next one to see what happens next in the love of Mitzy Moon…
Another brilliant adventure with our one and only Mitzy Moon.
Mitzy uses her ever growing psychic abilities to outsmart vicious train robbers, find a missing child and still find time to romance the socks off the hunky Sheriff in the 6th installment of Trixie Silvertale’s hilarious Mitzy Moon Mysteries.
I have listened to the Audible version also. Coleen Marlo really bring the characters to life, and sets your imagination alive.
Buy this book, in fact, buy the series! You won’t be disappointed.
Best book in the series so far. Mitzy and Erick, finally!! I thought this was a good mystery for Mitzy to help solve. She also gets to go undercover for this one. She also shows her 22 year old inexperience in this book when it comes to relationships. It will be fun to watch Mitzy and Erick’s relationship finally go somewhere and grow. I liked how Mitzy is using her sense and powers more to help. Also who doesn’t love Pye, I want one for myself. I look forward to the next book of laughs, good mystery and a little romance hopefully.
*I received a copy of this book via Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
I absolutely love this series. Mitzy Moon continues to grow as a person, which is enjoyable, and each story has something new and isn’t just a repeat of the previous storyline. I can’t wait for the next one.
This book is one of a series, but I felt that it could be read as a standalone, which I liked. I really enjoyed the storyline because it flowed nicely, never any lulls, it was funny, and it had some mystery that needed to be solved.
Mitzy, the main character, was again likable, hilarious, strong-willed, and even more ingenious than she was at the beginning of the series. I like that her character, as well as the others, continues to grow and surprise. I also felt like in this book, we got to really see development between Mitzy and Erick, which adds a bonus to the story in general.
Overall, I think this book and the entire series has a lot to offer. It makes you laugh, it makes you think, and it makes you wish for more.
This series just keeps getting better and better. Mitzy’s father’s railway is apparently the latest target for a bunch of train robbers, who always hit the same line twice in a row. After seeing something which upset her, Mitzy goes to a dive bar and overhears something about the train robbery. Hoping to get more information, she goes undercover (and in disguise) as a barmaid in that same bar. At the same time she is asked for help finding a boy taken by his father – without the mother’s permission. Mitzy (as usual) finds herself up to her ears in trouble. Rescue comes from an unusual source.
Bars and Boxcars is the sixth book in the Mitzy Moon Mysteries and is a terrific paranormal cozy mystery.
I am loving this series and cannot wait for book #7. This book brings Mitzy to realize how much her family and Pyewacket mean to her, showing more of Mitzy’s character growth. There is a cast of quirky characters to enjoy in these books. Poor Ghost-ma gets conned by Mitzy whereas she is usually the one doing the conning. This book has humour, jealousy, danger, suspense, and a touch of romance for Mitzy and Erick.
I recommend this series to anyone who loves cozy mysteries even if you don’t normally read paranormal mysteries. You will love Ghost-ma!!!
I read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book with no obligation.
Another wonderful read! I can’t get enough of Mitzy and the gang in Pin Cherry. Trixie is able to spin a story so well and every book just gets better and better. If your looking for a great read, look no farther and try this series. It will get you hooked. She is a great writer and every book is more and more entertaining. I can’t wait for the next book!
Mitzy’s father Jacob finally has his foundation up and running to help former inmates get jobs and such. But who would guess that the railroad he owns, where he employs some of the ex-cons would be targeted for a train robbery? Mitzy, of course, can’t let that go un-investigated. She takes a job as a barmaid when she overhears some guys talking about the robbery. This time, hunky Sheriff Erick gets Mitzy to sign on as a CI, giving her ‘permission’ to stay undercover to look for the hoodlums. Pyewacket the caracal gets involved, too, as he swallows a clue, leading to an overnight stay at Doc Ledo’s clinic. And there is a misunderstanding when Mitzy prances into the Sheriff’s office to see him embracing a pretty brunette. In the end, Mitzy finds the train robbery clue, gets kidnapped, and saves a missing child. And has her first real kiss from Erick. I enjoy this series a lot!
I absolutely adored this one. 4.5 star for sure! It’s my favorite so far of this series. This one left me on the edge of my seat and gave me so many happy vibes. I love that Mitzy is finding herself a family and friends and become a huge part of the adorable town!
With each book in this series, I fall more and more in love with the characters. I just finished Book 6 today and wish I had Book 7 to start reading right away. This series is so much fun, so thoroughly delightful. The perfect read for these days of mandated shelter-in-place.
You can’t help but love Mitzy Moon. She had a rough start in life, but all that has changed. Yet she remains humble and appreciative of this new life. I love this quote from Mitzy – “After believing I was an orphan for more than a decade, I can’t tell you how much it means to have someone waiting for me – to have people.” Isn’t that precious?
But Mitzy does have a way of stumbling into mysteries. Or better put – she is “an insatiably curious, oddly intelligent, frighteningly accurate, corpse magnet.” This time around she finds herself up against an interstate train robbery gang. I believe this book has a lot more suspense than previous books. I was on the edge of my seat wondering how she was going to get herself out of this latest mess she got herself into.
I loved how this book focused a lot on the bond between Mitzy and her feline pal Pyewacket. They may even bring a tear to the eye. And, of course, we are all eager to know if Sheriff Erick will ever let Mitzy melt his heart.
Full of wit, suspenseful, ultimately heartwarming. I am always eager for my visit to Pin Cherry Harbor. Bring on Book 7!!
Mitzy Moon does it again. This amazing heroin captures your heart and your attention from page one! Mitzy can’t stay out of an intriguing investigation, and a train robbery is too much to resist.
Mitzy’s father has finally opened his facility to help ex-cons find jobs. But right away there is a problem. The railroad that he owns is hit by a team of train robbers. The authorities want to focus on the new hires at the railroad – ex-cons. Mitzy is determined not to let this new project of her father’s go down in flames.
When Mitzy pops in on her favorite sheriff to discuss the case, she walks in on Erick hugging another woman. While drowning her sorrows at a local bar, she overhears something that seems related to the railroad robbery. And the chase is on!
Jacob’s foundation for ex-convicts is kicking off. Unfortunately, at the same time, his railroad has major product thefts. Is it the ex-cons or is this just a coincidence? Mitzy of course becomes involved and picks up work in a dive bar to search for leads.
The is a fun new series. I love the characters. The story lines are always solid. You can start this now, but it’s the most fun it you start at the beginning.
