Audiobook Version:
I read book 1 in the Riley O’Brien Series first and am glad I did. I felt that reading this as book 2 in that series was perfect in the timeline. I loooooooved this story. Getting to see Ava Grace and her journey with Trinity was fantastic. I have become so attached to the characters. The writing was fantastic, the perfect amount of love and heart ache, like the perfect country song.
The Narration was spot on. Ava gave such life and personality to each character. She is fabulous with always giving us voices that at distinctive and clear to follow. Always a pleasure to listen to.
Love this! Absolutely moving on to “Coming Apart at the Seams” now!
I love finding new to me authors and Jenna Sutton became a new favorite with Barreled Over. Ms. Sutton’s writing is polished and smooth and her storyline well-paced and engaging. The characters are wonderful and OMG the banter between Beck and his friends, Gabe and Ren, and Ava Grace with her friends is amazing. This book has the perfect balance of humor, emotion, heartbreak, passion, friendship, and love. Neither Beck or Ava Grace are prepared for what starts as a professional arrangement turns personal. Both of them have secrets that threaten to destroy what they each want but fear won’t last. Beck has overcome his past to follow his passion of brewing bourbon. While Ava Grace is one of country music’s headliners. One lives in the spotlight and the other hides from it because of his past. Even when they try to stay away from each other, the couple’s banter is sensual and sexy. I did not want this book to end, and I am anxiously waiting for more in the Trinity Distilling series.
I listened to Ava Lucas’ narration of this amazing book. Her voice transported me into the story, from Ava Grace’s Nashville home to Beck’s California. Her vocal variety added dimension and personal characteristics to each character and the sexy Southern dialect of the main characters made this such an enjoyable. I can’t wait to listen to more books by this author and Ava Lucas in the future.
I absolutely loved this book. This is the first book I’ve read by Jenna Sutton and I have ordered her previous books after reading this. It’s the story of Ava Grace, a country music star and Beck, a bourbon distiller. They meet when she partners with the distillery and sparks fly. Can he overcome his fear of the public spotlight that follows Ava Grace? Is being together worth the sacrifice of privacy?
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
I adored this story. I loved all the characters. (I have to go back and read Quinn’s and Amelia’s story now). Beck was so humanized in this story. His fear of getting hurt again by another woman (first his Mother and then a live-in girlfriend) was so touching that I couldn’t stop feeling for him. Ava Grace was the complete opposite. She was so loving and giving that she touched a special place in the heart. The story of how these two completely different people came together for their HEA, was a fantastic read. It was hard to put down (I did fix dinner at least!) I was completely enthralled right from the beginning page here. I was so sorry to see the ending but the Epilogue was a beautiful glimpse in their future.
Yes, there were sex scenes here but they added to the story, they weren’t the whole story. There were some “F” words but at least the author didn’t use slang or vulgar terms to describe body parts.
The story was written in a dual POV. I love this. Since I haven’t experienced what these characters have been though, so I don’t know how I would react. At least, I know what the character is going through and why. I took a class once, and one of the main things I learned was if you haven’t been through something, you don’t know what someone else is feeling when they are going through it. It is so very true. I appreciate the author’s giving me these details.
I will also mentioned that the author was very good at giving us the reader a thorough detail of the process of distilling bourbon. It was fascinating to read. There was never a boring section or should I say, a section that went over my head here. I will have to purchase a bottle as some of the ideas for recipes sounded to good to pass by!
I look forward to more stories in this series. I hope that Kyle and Mercy get a story soon.
Every now and again, you read a book that frustrates you… but you love it! That is this book for me!! “Barreled Over” is about Ava Grace, one of country music’s biggest stars, and Jonah Beck (known to friends and family as Beck), son of the family that is synonymous with bourbon. While Ava Grace is battling her record company who wants her top broaden her fan base of just women, with wacky ideas of how to do that, Beck is trying to make a name for himself. Together, they can help each other, and find love at the same time!
Everything about this story is adorable and funny, with great characters. While the two main characters have some not-so-great things in their in past and I understand why they are the way they are, I found myself almost liking the secondary characters more than the main characters. As this is my first book by this author, it felt as though I should already know some of the characters. It didn’t detract from the story, but it did make me wonder if I was missing out.
The chemistry between Ava Grace and Beck is wonderful. They have great banter and the chemistry is instant. What I loved about this book is the bourbon lessons you get! I know it’s not the point of this book, nor is it meant to be the focus, but I thought it was fascinating and a nice addition to the story. I am intrigued to see where this series will go, as I enjoyed getting to know Ava Grace and Beck.
I loved this story so much. It was my first Jenna Sutton novel and it will not be my last. The characters were delightful and very much likable. Beck and Ava Grace were both well developed complex characters with intense chemistry. The secondary characters were all big supports and greatly added to the story. Relationships played a big part in the novel both romantic relationships and friendship.
The story had some angsty moments, some laugh-out-loud moments, and some downright steamy moments and I enjoyed every moment.
The story was narrated by Ava Lucas. I loved her voice and her portrayal of the different character. The slight accents she was able to add to the various characters really set everyone apart and gave the country feel to the story.
This was an amazing story and a wonderful listening experience and I would highly recommend it.

This book was just like the bourbon featured in it. Just about perfect, enjoyable, and smooth. There was some angst, and there was some drama, as you expect that in a book about a relationship. There were a couple of times when I wanted the 2 main characters to talk to one another, but that happens in a lot of books…and in life itself, so that worked for me.
The chemistry is wonderful and watching Beck try to deny how badly he wants to be involved with Ava Grace was not only compelling, but emotional and a wonderful slow burn to the first scene in the rickhouse…and his reaction.
I really liked the characters in this book, I believed them and their actions, even when they were not communicating with one another. And, this is always a nice place to find yourself as a reader, believing the characters. It helped at the end, the big break up scene, that you believed them. were they right? No. Did they figure it out? Yes, of course they did. But, did I believe that 2 real people would handle it in about the same way? Yes, I did.
This is my first title by this author, and I enjoyed it. I am looking forward to the next in the series.
When country music hottest star pairs with Trinity Distillery you have one explosive combination. Ava Grace needs to attract some men per her labels demand or they will drop her. So she pairs with Trinity Distillery ran by three attractive men but only one of them has Ava Grace over a barrel and that is Jonah Beck. Can Jonah handle Ava Grace and the publicity she always is attracting or will scandal ruin what they could be? I loved this book and I can’t wait to read more in this series. Great start to a promising series. Must read and highly recommended.
I absolutely loved this book and Ava Grace brought a smile to my face throughout the book with her positive attitude even when things were not going her way. Beck, though, I wanted to tweak by his ear a couple times to get him to out of his funk but Ava Grace brought him around. Ava Grace is a country star and her label seems to think she needs to shake things up a bit and one of the ideas is to hook her up with Trinity Distillery. She is not a fan of bourbon but she is willing to give it a chance and since she has met Beck in the past and they have had “words” the meeting could have been interesting. Jonah Beck was born to make bourbon and that is all he has ever wanted to do. Once they stop fighting the chemistry, wow! Will Beck be able to survive the chaos that comes with Ava Grace? I definitely recommend this one and I am looking forward to more in this series!
ARC for honest review with no compensation
Barreled Over by Jenna Sutton is the start of another awesome series! Can’t wait to read the rest in this series….
Ava Grace is a rising star in the country music scene and going strong until her label gets a new head honcho who thinks she needs to do a reality show and date lots of men cause he thinks she needs to reach more men with her music and less women. She says no to reality TV and decides to team up with Trinity Distillery which makes bourbon whiskey.
Jonah Beck is the man behind the bourbon aka Trinity Distillery with his two buddies. He is a behind the scenes due to his family history and scandal. When he comes face to face with the country music star he finds that his bourbon runs hotter on her lips…
Lots of sexy banter, behind the scene loving, but do these two really mix well or is it just way to make both their careers skyrocket???
I totally enjoyed Barrelled Over by Jenna Sutton, the first book in her new Trinity Distillery series. From the beginning, this book pulled me into this story of friendship, romance, and struggles. Ava Grace Landy, a famous country singer struggled with demands the new boss for her record label wants from her. Her friends Amelia and Quinn, from the Riley series, suggested she connect with Jonah Beck, of the Trinity Distillery to be their spokesperson. Because of his past, Beck is unsure of getting involved with Ava Grace and her fame, despite the chemistry and attraction they have for each other. The more time they share together, the more it’s apparent that these two belong together; head, heart and tail. I loved how Ms. Sutton characterized these two as monogamists and not people who slept around. I also appreciated the way she dealt with the Alzheimer aspects that affects the characters. This was truly a heart-warming love story that allowed the main characters to reach their happy ever after, despite a few detours and stubborn characters.
I really loved reading this book and had trouble putting this book down. Ms. Sutton held me captive, drawing me into her book, making me forget the world around me and not letting me go even after I turned the last page. I highly recommend this book to other readers and look forward to reading more books in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
This is a new to me author, but I will be reading more of her books. It is the first book in a new series. This book features the world of Country music and Bourbon. I enjoyed reading about the process of Bourbon making.
Beck and Ava grace are two wonderful characters and what I loved about them was that they made their own families and were fiercely loyal to them. i did want to smack Beck on his head a few times for being so stubborn.
I look forward to reading the other books in this series.
Jenna Sutton has never been one to hold back her views and heart from any storyline. So why start now? Barreled Over keeps that take charge tradition going with a little less talk and a lot more action. Sassy women, saucy music and sexy men equal out to a down home good time. Ava has the talent that could take her far, but her heart may lay elsewhere. What happens when the promising country star meets the mesmerizing bourbon maker? Romance with panache.
Barreled Over by Jenna Sutton
Trinity Distillery #1
I have been lucky enough to read a few novellas by Jenna Sutton and remember them vividly so when the opportunity to read the first book in her new Trinity Distillery series was provided I was eager to snap it up.
There are three partners in the San Francisco bourbon business known as Trinity Distillery. In this book we meet all three men and hear the story of Jonah Beck and Ava Grace Landry. We are also tantalized with the possibility of not only the future stories of the other two owners but of two friends of Ava Grace that are bff’s in her life before Jonah enters it.
Jonah grew up in a bourbon making dynasty. His family lost the business but his love for the art never died so with a plan in place, financial backing and his friends Ren and Gabe beside him he took a gamble that paid off. Wanting to increase the number of female customers the three men were more than interested in linking their bourbon with Country Singing Star Ava Grace Landry when she came to visit with the idea and hope of increasing her male fan base.
This was a wonderful story. The backstories of both main characters impacted their lives but in ways that strengthened them. Jonah was less willing to trust, hated the limelight and yet was a man that steamed up the pages, was genuine, true and a great person. Ava Grace knew what she wanted and was not shy but she was also not overly pushy. Ava Grace was a big name but had heart, dedication, a work ethic and was constant in her affections and friendships. As the story progressed I could definitely see the two of them together and was happy they found one another. Sure, there were ups and downs and issues to deal with but all in all the story flowed, made sense, and seemed believable. I felt with the characters – main and supporting – and would gladly have them as friends. The HEA ending was perfect and now I want to read the stories of Ren and Gabe and also the novella I found out has been written for Ava Grace’s friend Mercy and her bodyguard/driver Kyle.
Thank you to the author who bequeathed me this marvelous ARC through NetGalley – This is my honest review.
Quotes that resonated and lingered:
~ Women are like bourbon. A good one is warm and smooth and just a little sweet. But she’s got some kick to her…a bite that makes you flinch. She makes your throat burn and your chest tight, and then she settles in your belly and glows like an ember. ~ Ellis
~ Head, Heart and Tail ~
“Did he tell you about the head, heart, and tail?” Ellis asked.
She shook her head. “No.”
“We put the heart of the spirit into these here barrels.”
“What’s the heart of the spirit?” she asked, looking back and forth between Beck and Ellis.
“The liquid that comes off the stills first is called the head, and it’s too strong,” Ellis explained. “The liquid that comes off last is called the tail, and it’s too weak. It’s the liquid that comes off in between – the heart of the spirit-that’s the right potency.”
4.5 Stars
This is a very good book about two people with issues from their past. They have to learn to except each other the way they are before they can admit that their in love.I love the HEA ending.
She is Ava Grace Landy a country music singer he is Jonah Beck the co owner of Trinity Distillery. She mends a boast in male audience, Trinity needs a spokesperson. He has skeletons that have been hushed for years, and his attraction to this woman is not good for him, but with them being together all the time and she feels the same. Inner turmoil persists sacrifice’s are finally made by both for happiness and the careers they have both worked so hard for.
I was gifted this book by The narrator Ava Lucas, thank you, love your voice
When country star Ava Grace is told by her label that she needs to start appealing to a more male dominated audience, does she go the obvious route and start using her sexuality to do so? Nope, she’s smart and not willing to go that way. Instead, she partners up with a distillery; a distillery whose owner she never imagined would come to mean so much to her.
Beck and his two best friends run a craft distillery in San Francisco, and they’re making a go of it. He has a lot of demons riding him, and the last thing he needs, or wants, is to get involved with a woman so prevalent in the the spotlight. He abhors the spotlight and can’t imagine anything worse than constantly being in it. But, he can’t seem to resist Ava Grace’s charm, and soon they’re involved in a seriously hot affair. How can two such different people make a relationship work? A woman whose life is lived in the spotlight (even if she isn’t exactly thrilled about it) and a man who shuns the spotlight?
There’s definitely a lot of push and pull on Beck’s part, to Ava Grace’s (and mine) dismay, and I felt for her. She was pretty awesome – smart, tough, and strong, and for her to have to deal with someone who pulled her close then pushed her away, was pretty disheartening. Thank God Beck finally pulled his head out of his ass, though, cuz I was wondering if they’d ever get it together.
I really liked Barreled Over and am looking forward to more of this series.
