What an emotional, thrilling and perfect ending this book was. Danger, angst, fear, friendships, family and love so much love. “I can’t do this anymore.” Both terrible and beautiful words to hear from the one you love. “My dirty angel.” A little tarnish never hurts anyone and on Jamie and Aiden it’s golden. These two stole my heart from the first book and haven’t let go since. They will forever hold a place in my heart. I adore them and never want to say goodbye.
This is the last book in the series I renamed ” The Hot Geek and the Hotter Agent”. I knew it would be good, but oh my giddy aunts, that was spectacular! It was a roller coaster ride from start to finish. Every question I had was answered, every villain slain, every lover well loved.
Here we get not only Jamie, Aidan, Mel and Danny but two new members – Nic aka Aidan’s roadblock and Lauren aka Jamie’s mini-me. Together they make up a Suicide Squad because what they manage to achieve is almost impossible and extremely dangerous but they all survive with their parts intact.
This story clearly shows how easy it is to frame, blackmail or eliminate people who’ve outgrown their usefulness. Irish and Whiskey are racing against the clock to stop a terrorist from completing his agenda and when the truth comes out in the end there is only sadness that one lonely man who was wronged turned into a despicable monster beyond redemption. Through all the tribulations Aidan and Jamie stay true to themselves and their love for each other and when the fight is over and the smoke is cleared the threat is gone, the life as they know it is over and the circle of life begins anew.
It was a very enjoyable and thoroughly satisfying read! I highly recommend it!
From start to finish, Barrel Proof was a wild ride! I loved the suspense and the romance…ack! Aidan and Jamie just rock the boat with their passion and loyalty. Family dynamics, threats close to home, and a crazy stand off……romantic suspense doesn’t get much better then this!
This series was absolutely fantastic. The author is new to the scene and has only published the three books in this series, but they are a phenomenal debut. You should read this series.
Barrel Proof is the emotional, high impact, AMAZING finale to the Agents Irish and Whiskey series, and it does need to be read in order to understand what is going on. Aidan decides that he needs some space from Jamie following his betrayal, not because he wants to end things with Jamie but the complete opposite reason. He wants Jamie, he loves him, but he knows that his anger will overshadow that. So he requests what should be a simple solo job, undercover at a financial company. What he doesn’t know is that things are coming to a head and he is in deeper than he realised.
Oh my! This book, this series! I have loved every single book (even when Aidan was acting like a jerk). Nothing is said or done without reason, and they all become clear in this edition. Any loose ends are tied up, some in ways that I never envisaged. The story is fast-paced but very smooth. With both Jamie and Aidan at odds, plus Mel and Danny, there is lot angst in this book, so the sexy times are not as numerous. However, this didn’t negatively impact the story in any way. In fact, it would have been odd to do it any other way.
Heart-breaking and heart-fulfilling, this book is the perfect finale to the series, and Layla Reyne now has a brand new reader completely addicted to her work. Without a doubt, absolutely recommended by me.
