To help her brother-in-law acquire land, there is nothing Miss Emma Shepherd will not do. Even if it means pretending to like a man plagued by rumor. Yet that is precisely what she does with Lord Michael Bracken, a reclusive baron who spends his days drinking in squalor. Lord Michael Bracken cares nothing for love and after losing at a game of chance, he is now perhaps England’s poorest baron. … poorest baron. Now, he prefers drinking to being in the company of the best of society. Temptation stirs inside him, brought on by the innocent Emma, whose lips beg to be kissed. Fortunately for him, a snowstorm has her trapped in his home with no means for escape.
The intimacy they are forced to share in such close quarters sparks a fire in Emma that she fears only the baron can quench. Yet, will his newfound feelings be enough for Michael to garner the courage to place one last wager?

The writing is good the descriptions draw a great picture
As with any historical romance it can be quite frustrating reading but quite worth it in the end

This is the third book in the Forbidden Kisses series. You don’t have to read the first two books to be able to follow this story, but it might be helpful just to have a little background. This story is quite the page turner. There is a lot of emotion and unpredictable twists that will hold your interest and keep you reading well into the night. Emma is a very intelligent woman and she wants to prove her use to her family. Her brother-in-law wants to purchase a piece of property owned by Michael, but Michael doesn’t want to sell. Emma comes up with a plan to peak Michael’s interest in selling – and that’s when things get interesting! This is a very well-written and well-plotted story with wonderful characters. I enjoyed seeing this story come together and watching Emma and Michael’s characters grow. It was a very entertaining story and I look forward to reading the next installment of this series!

Emma is an intelligent, witty, sometimes an overzealous helper and a quite beautiful woman. With her family away, she decided to risk convention and visit the neighbor whose land her family had wanted to purchase. Michael is a broken man. The rumor was he murdered his late wife. Because of a snow storm Emma was stuck at Michael’s dilapidated estate not knowing why he left everything go to ruin. During their time together several important milestones were created. Their lives would never be the same. The chance for Emma to find true love presented itself as well as an opportunity for Michael to gain back all his confidence and all he lost in gambling and drink. This is such a good story. A real page turner. This is unlike any historical romance I have read and I am glad for it. It is an interesting, unusual and risk-taking dangerous way to forge forward in life. There are plenty of surprises and many unpredictable twists and turns in the story. You will not be bored nor disappointed. I do recommend this book.
The third book in the Forbidden Kisses series a story that kept me turning pages. This is Miss Emma Shepherd and Lord Michael Bracken, a reclusive baron who both tell each other lies when they meet. One man will do damage to a lot of people through his greed. I enjoyed seeing this story come together. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Emma Shepherd is the youngest of the sisters and only unmarried one as well, The three sisters had run from marriages their step-father had arranged, though sold into marriage is more accurate. Having hidden from all these vile men for the past two years has relaxed them some. All the girls had learned many tools for survival and two had found love, Emma was still dreaming of finding her hero. She meets Michael, The Baron of Bracken when she accompanies her brother-in-law to his home, the hope is that Emma beauty and smile will convince the Barron to sell some land. When it doesn’t work Emma decides to try on her own while the rest of her family are away. On the way to his home, a snowstorm hits and she can’t see where she is when her horse throws her three wolves are waiting for dinner. Backing away sure she has met her end a loud crack and then
she is in the black water the ice had broken, she kept wondering if a hero will come.

Three kisses of midnight.
I loved all the twists and turn in this gem along with the growth of the characters this made for a very engaging read. Emma has a mission and Michael seems to be caught up in it. These characters were all too human with flaws and it made me like them so much. Three kisses of midnight a lesson started at the beginning but perhaps will continue forever. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
