With Christmas and a family wedding fast approaching, there’s happy chaos in the air at Waterford Farm. However, not everyone in the Kilcannon clan is caught up in the magic of the moment. Matriarch, octogenarian, and beloved blogger Gramma Finnie hears the clock of her long life ticking far too fast, while her great-granddaughter, teenager Pru, feels squeezed out of planning her mother’s … nuptials.
But when this unlikely duo is tasked with the project of producing the “Somethings” for the wedding – and only have Christmas Eve to get the job done – Gramma Finnie and Pru have a purpose and a plan. They set off to find the perfect old, new, borrowed, and blue treasures, but it doesn’t take long for things to spin out of control faster than Gramma’s Toyota in a snowstorm. Detoured by a stray border collie, thwarted by nature and an elf parade, and trapped by a rifle-toting mountain man, it will take more than the power of the Kilcannon clan to save these two from a Christmas catastrophe. It will take the luck of the Irish, a love story from long ago, and a whole lot of help from the angels to make this holiday merry and bright.
The Dogfather Series
The Dogfather isn’t just one man…it’s a brand new contemporary romance series from New York Times bestselling author Roxanne St. Claire celebrating what she loves most: hot guys, great dogs, big families…and true love. And a portion of the proceeds from every book in the series will be donated to the Alaqua Animal Refuge in the author’s home state of Florida!
Daniel Kilcannon is known as “The Dogfather” for a reason. It’s not just his renowned skills as a veterinarian, his tremendous love of dogs, or the fact that he has turned his homestead in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains into a world class dog training and rescue facility. Ask his six grown children who run Waterford Farm for him, and they’ll tell you that their father’s nickname is due to his uncanny ability to pull a few strings to get what he wants. And what he wants is for his four sons and two daughters to find the kind of life-changing love he had with his dearly departed wife, Annie. This old dog has a few new tricks…and he’ll use them all to see his pack all settled into their happily ever afters!

I cannot wait to get my hands on this new Christmas story from Roxanne St. Claire. Set in her dog-loving town of Bitter Bark, this tail (see what I did there?) gives us a glimpse into Grandma Finny’s past and I LOVE GRANDMA FINNY. Add in the dogs and Christmas and family and all the emotion Roxanne St. Claire packs into a story and I am there for it!
I love the Dogfather series of books by Roxanne St. Claire. Bark, the Herald Angels Sing is her latest and it is as great as all the rest. It is filled with page turning plot twists and wonderful family love. This book is about Gramma Finnie and young Pru who wants to give her mother something special for her mom’s wedding to Trace. Of course, the two of them have to get into all kinds of trouble along the way to the wedding. A special extra in this novella is the story of how Gramma Finnie found her way to America with her husband Seamus. Highly recommend this book and the whole series. So good.
I just love Gramma Finnie and Pru. Gramma and Pru have an excellent adventure and we learn more about Gramma Finnie. Pru is a planner and when her mother hires a wedding planner to do her wedding, Pru is feeling left out. Gramma Finnie is feeling bored and has writer’s block. When Molly realizes what is happening, she give them a task to help with the wedding. While getting their “somethings” together, they end up in the mountains in a snow storm with a dog that is in labor and a scary mountain man on Christmas Eve. The Kilcannon family comes to the rescue.
It was great fun to visit Waterford Farms during the holidays. Add in a much anticipated wedding and things are hectic and fun. When Gramma Finnie and teenage Pru feel left out of all the planning they are given a very special task to complete. That’s when things really get crazy!!
This book was pure fun and good times. Gramma Finnie has always been a favorite of mine so I really enjoyed this story featuring her. I highly recommend this one.
Roxanne St. Claire has a talent for creating worlds and characters that feel like real-life friends and family. This holiday novella connects readers with two of the most loved secondary Kilcannon clan characters. This holiday story has all the seasonal feels that make for a cozy read.
My heart is so full it could just burst right now! This was the perfect story for Gramma Finnie and Pru’s excellent adventure. The wedding of Molly and Trace is fast approaching and Pru is feeling left out and Gramma Finnie is feeling her age or nostalgic or just a bit of writer’s block with the coming of Christmas and all the festivities and the clipping of her wings and no one letting her drive any more. When Molly overhears the fussing, she gives Pru a special task to get the special somethings for the wedding, that must be kept secret. Oh, this is all good until Gramma Finnie decides she should grab her keys and take Pru and drive to the next town over to undertake a task. Soon they are lost in the mountains, find a pregnant dog, and…don’t forget the snowstorm on the horizon. Excellent adventure? Oh yea! All is well and the Kilcannon clan is not far behind.
Even if you have not read the rest of the series (and why haven’t you!) you will love this one! It can be read as a standalone and enjoyed! Definitely worth spending an afternoon with your feet up and a smile.
A story within a story! I cannot express how much I loved this book! It has all the feel goods of a Christmas story complete with decorations, holiday cheer, angels, more than one rescue and a nail biting adventure! Bark is another book in the Kilcannon Series that if you haven’t read, you have truly missed some great stories and wonderful, talented writing by this author.
Pru was feeling left out of her mother’s wedding plans and Grandma Finnie was feeling a bit bored so they cook up a trip and almost get more adventure than they bargained for. The entire Kilcannon clan has to come together as they always do in a family crisis. A peak into Grandma Finnie’s history was a wonderful addition within this story. Thoroughly enjoyed this book!!
There is no question that Roxanne St. Claire hit it out of the park with her latest Dogfather novella, Bark! The Herald Angels Sing. This is Pru and Grandma Finnie’s big adventure and what an adventure it is. As with any adventure, things do not necessarily go as planned. However, there are a gaggle of Kilcannons and Mahoneys to keep things on track. Granma Finnie is in fine storytelling form, so curl up with your beverage of choice, a fuzzy animal if available, and your fuzzy blankie, and be prepared for a heartwarming ride.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novella.
This is a Christmas novella to go with Roxanne St. Claire’s The Dogfather Series. In it, Roxanne takes one of the youngest characters and the oldest, Pru and Gramma Finnie, for an adventure. They’ve both been feeling left out and despondent. Off they go in Gramma Finnie’s old car. They end up finding more excitement than they bargained for, and of course it involves a dog.
I love both these characters and I loved the story from the past that Gramma Finnie tells Pru as they go along. It was a great touch by St. Claire!
Roxanne St. Claire has another winner with this Christmas story. It gives plenty of details about what all of the Kilcannons are up to as well an adventure for Pru and Gramma Finnie. Enter a romance and a bit of mystery, and of course a dog at the center of it, and we have an awesome Christmas tale.
Bark! The Herald Angels Sing is a fantastic holiday read by Roxanne St. Clair. Ms. St. Clair has provided readers with a well-written book populated with an outstanding cast of characters. Pru and her grandmother Finnie are feeling a little left out of the wedding preparations for Pru’s mom and dad’s wedding. They set out on a mission that turns into a real fiasco. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more from Roxanne St. Clair soon. Bark! The Herald Angels Sing is book 8 of The Dogfather Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a clif-hanger.
This is #8 in The Dogfather series.
Christmas is in the air and a family wedding is coming up fast. Happy chaos is in the air, however not everyone in the Kilcannon bunch is caught up in the moment. Gramma Finner is feeling older, and knows her clock is winding out too fast. Pru, who is a teenager now, is feeling squeezed out of the wedding of her Mom and Dad by the wedding planner.
When Molly understands how the duo feels, she comes up with a project for them to do together. Gramma Finnie and Pru have the task of getting all the “somethings” for the wedding- and they only have Christmas Eve to do it. They set off to find the treasures of something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.
Things start to spin out of their control faster than Gramma Finnie’s car. A snowstorm starts to develop, a stray border collie, a rifle-toting man, and an elf parade are some of the things that are trying to take down the luck of the Irish. Not wanting a catastrophe to mess up this Christmas, Gramma Finnie and Pru do what they have to do to save the dog and the day.
It is a fun & heartwarming story. It was nice hearing the tale of how Gramma Finnie met the love of her life, and the significance of the shamrock pin. I am trying to get caught up with all the books in the series.
great read, great series
What an adventure Pru and Gramma Finnie went on!
Gramma Finnie is feeling her age and Pru is feeling left out of her mother’s wedding planning. So, when they’re tasked with finding the wedding “somethings,” they decide to make a grand adventure out of it. Unfortunately, everything seems to go wrong, but with a little bit of Christmas magic, Irish luck, and a Border Collie named Queenie, they may just pull off a miracle.
I loved Gramma Finnie’s love story and how she met her husband, Shamus. Such a happy ending!
Love this series!!!
Adventure, fun and Gramma Finnie team up for the perfect holiday read in Bark! The Herald Angels Sing.
Loved this story!
What can you say about Granny and Prudence? and the whole Dog Father tribe? Good story for the holidays. Nice read.
for the Holidays, Kilcannon’s style!
What do you get when a slightly conflicted teenager and her bored great grandmother take upon themselves to find the perfect something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue in the biggest Kilcannon wedding to date? Well, we get a fun ride, sprinkled with adventure, humor, wisdom, heart, dogs and most of the beloved characters of the Dogfather series.
General Pru is feeling left out in the planning of her parents’ wedding and Grandma Finnie is feeling a little blue, with a bad case of writers block that had her unable to keep blogging. Grandma Finnie recognized Pru’s conflict and in the most unexpected way, these two got charged with the important tradition of finding the bride’s something old/ new, something borrowed/ blue. Pru wanted something unique and special, Grandma Finnie had just that and in typical Kilcannon’s fashion, a simple task gets complicated, a dog or two needs caring and more breadcrumbs are added to the story of how this family came to be. Pru and Finnie are the best partners in crime, their uniqueness made anyone to long be like them or at least have that special connection with your elders. “Bark!…” happens during the Holidays and we’re gifted with a Christmas miracle, new friends, insightful flashbacks and appearances of all the Kilcannon clan. Overall, I was unable to put it down, one more page was a new laugh, a new awww, simply put it gave me “the feels “.
This is a novella in the Dogfather series ( Book 8) by Roxanne St.Claire and it came into my life in a moment when all family matters are front and center. Roxanne, you gave me normalcy in a difficult time. Your wisdom via these characters reminded me that life is full of joy and heartbreak, misunderstanding and redemption but above all it is about love, where it’s in the form of an earth angel doing a good deed, familiar love or the unabashed loving nature of a fur baby (babies). Bark! The Herald Angels Sing is a beautiful, touching Holiday novella, a read for me.
Great story continues
