As a newcomer to the alien tribe, I’ve struggled to find my place. It might be because I’m a tad headstrong at times. And yes, I might have thrown a few things at people’s heads. But I had a good reason to pitch a fit – my shy sister was stolen away right under my nose. Of course, now she’s back and mated. Everyone’s happy…except me.I need…affection.Attention.Okay, I’m lonely. Really lonely.… lonely. Really lonely.
Strangely enough, the only person that I think understands what I’m going through is the same blue-skinned brute that stole my sister. It’s wrong to hook up with him, even as a mindless fling.
Except…I’m not so good with the whole ‘rules’ thing.
And he’s not so great with the ‘fling’ thing.

Love, love, LOVE this series and this is one of the best of them all.Maddie and Hassen get their HEA.I wasn’t sure when or if they were going to actually get there for most of the book. So, if you haven’t read the other eight books in this series, I highly recommend them all. Each one gives you a little more of the picture of this icy planet they our aliens and humans have come to be on.Great writing, fabulous sense of humor, compassion and tragedy and sexy, blue aliens who love and protect their mates.Yes, there are sex scenes but they are well written and not gross. Some are even funny, especially this book. Maddie has a great sense of humor.I am excited about the new changes for the tribe and ready for their next adventure.I was happy to see some of the ‘issues’ I had with earlier books explained – ex: why the tribe didn’t stay at the ocean side caves during the brutal season (altho still don’t understand the hunters not ‘fishing’ as a means of adding missing minerals etc to the tribe’s diet). The turn in circumstances this book is leading us is an intriguing one. I’m worried about Asha & found myself thinking about her character & the construct of a social structure that wouldn’t have assigned tasks for each member (she’s allowed to stay in her furs day in & out depressed over loss of her baby).
This is what I mean – those past couple sentences are why I love these books! I love this writer’s ability to create a world that gets me thinking about the situation / circumstances / interactions etc. She may have ‘holes’ that need to be addressed IMO but in general its so well constructed that you find yourself thinking about this alternate universe outside of the time you’re actually reading!
I liked the Hero & Heroine – he was a little more good-natured & bordered on being too eager-to-please than I prefer – she was a little snarky & demanding – which I enjoy. I like strong characters that are more realistic (flawed) in deeds & actions than what’s considered ideal.
Finally – I was disappointed by the book’s cover – I can’t see his horns! I like the blue suede skin & horned descriptions but need a little help from the covers! They’re alien – lets not hide that!I continue to enjoy & look forward to each installment in this light-hearted alien romance. I like its mix of sex scenes, true rhetoric without relentless angst, action scenes, fantasy settings & situations. I enjoy the drama of some of the circumstances. (Cave-in / earthquake). This is one of the few series I’ve read that narrates in the First Person well.
I really like this series. It’s fun! The double POV’s give it a certain flair adding to my enjoyment. It’s a pattern I have come to adore. The books carrie with them sexy hero’s, likable heroine’s, sweet, funny and sexy moments. I also adore the world Dixon has created and the strong cast of characters.
Things are changing on the Ice Plant. The earth wakes up and there is no safe place anymore. I liked the challenges Hassen and Maddie faced as well as the tribe. It was nice to see things shaken up. New struggles and challenges for all.
Hassen disobeyed a tribe rule and is being punished. Here he gets redemption and also finds his mate. Maddie I wasn’t to keen on her, but as the book moves on we see a different side of her and why she is so vocal at the first meet. I liked her change in attitude. I loved these two together. They fit. Got each other.
Rated: 4 Stars
I’ve loved this series from the beginning, but Maddie and Hassen’s story is my hands-down favorite. Maddie is hilarious and yet pretty realistic, in her assessment of her situation as well as her view of herself. She is open and upfront about her needs, while still being somewhat shy and certainly feeling a lack of confidence. As much as she wants to hate Hassen, she understands him, and is drawn to him when she recognizes her own similarities. Hassen is a bit broken, lonely and lost. Yet he’s strong, fearless, and loyal to his tribe. The relationship they build is realistic even though it takes place in a crazy, sci-fi world. Stories like theirs makes me wonder how much better off we humans would be without all the distractions of culture, media, technology, and the seductions/downfalls of civilization. P.S. Holy guacamole, Ruby Dixon can write a sex scene like nobody’s business. Wow.
Barbarian’s Taming: A SciFi Alien Romance (Ice Planet Barbarians Book 9) by Ruby Dixon – This is on kindle unlimited. Maddie is not a girl who should be abducted by aliens. While most of the human who have crashed on the ice planet manage to work their way to resilience, this girl just wants to go home. (To be fair, I would also miss chocolate and books.) Not gonna lie, I went to peek at the reviews to make sure this book gets better because I’m having trouble making it through the beginning…so I’m trusting my fellow blue alien lovers! ……And of course it got better! But woah baby what a curve ball! I made several frazzled and confused meeps. But its Ruby Dixon’s world, and we just play in it! Happy Reading!
Here we have Maddie’s story. So we met her in the previous book. She is Lila’s sister. Her sister is back but is now mated to Rokan. Maddie sees this and she is not sure if her sister should be mated. Once they have their talk though Maddie seems to understand. However, while in the cave she sees everyone interacting. Maddie is known to be very loud and angry. She seems a bit lost and doesn’t feel like she is needed by her sister. Hassen is being exiled but he is a good hunter so they want him to continue hunting for the tribe. However Maddie sees him and feels like he would understand her. She also decides that she wants to frequently hook up with him. Hmm, how is that going to go. These aliens don’t think like humans so they do not understand that meaning. Maddie is determined to have Hassen teach her to hunt and stuff. So how will this go. It seems like there is something building but at the same time Hassen is the one that kidnapped her sister in hopes to resonate. Only he may have chosen the wrong girl. Can they tame each other? Check it out to see.
Barbarian’s Touch (Ice Planet Barbarians) A Sci Fi Alien Serial Romance by Ruby Dixon. This is Hassen and Maddie’s story. He was so desperate for a mate he kidnapped one of the new women. Maddie was a pain in the a##e. She’s big bold and loud which normally I love but not on her. Hassen has been exiled and Maddie hates that he kidnapped her sister, but she is drawn to him only to discover that he is her resonate. I love these barbarians with their problems with hoomans.
interesting
Hassen redeems himself in his story with Maddie. They become good friends and I love that they relate to each other once they open up a little. I wasn’t sure that Maddie could be likable, but the story was able to help me see her through Hassen’s eyes. He felt she was fierce, tough, and persistent and he loved that about her. There is a lot going on with the tribe in this book; truly a turning point. There is adventure as Maddie and Hassen are on a journey, and I love that they finally resonate to each other. Drama, danger, banter, and plenty of hot times- this book was a very enjoyable read.
I like this one alot. I have read it several times and will probably read it several more. Very fun and sassy.
I love Ruby Dixon’s Ice-planet series. Her characters are diverse, lovable, and utterly addictive.
Maddie and Hassen are the best forbidden angsty couple on this ice planet! Oh my gosh this story yall was so good. I loved Maddie. She is tough as nails. I understand her so much! She is lonely and scared and just wants to feel wanted. Hassen is the LAST guy she should want but he is the only one on the planet who understands her. She can not deny that she is attracted to him. Hassen is exiled. He must stay away from his tribe the family he has left. He wants a real family more than anything. When strong willed Maddie comes around he knows that she is perfect for him. He must convince her that they could have more than just being Friends with benefits {Pleasure-Mates} they could be everything. They are so sexy! You can so feel their connection. I loved watching these two sneak around and fall in love!! Something Big happens in this book that changes everything. It also pushes Maddie and Hassen even closer!!! I am so happy with this entire book! I loved it and I can’t wait to continue on with this incredible series!
Wow!
Maddie needed a friend that understood her lost and sorrow. That friend happen to be the camp bad boy Hassen. They are both treated like loose strings that could be torn off at any moment. However, as they learn to live with what life have through at them, sparks start to fly.
They become one and save many lives in the process.
This series is just so freaking fun read. That said, I didn’t really like Maddie much the beginning half of the book. Or at all, I guess. She gets better after the big event but still. That said, I did enjoy this one and I am off to read the next!
This book throws a huge twist into how they all will make do on this planet. I couldn’t put it down. This was a little enemies to lovers but a bit more outcasts who found their way and their redemption in each other’s arms. Truly took two characters who I didn’t really care about and made me love them dearly.
Maddie’s story has to be my favorite. She is so relate-able for me! If I was ever dropped on an alien planet without modern amenities, I know I’ll be like her.
She has a hard time fitting in, because she’s a bit bitter about being there and not finding a mate when everyone else seems to be getting a mate. It really hurts her.
Then she mates with the guy who had stolen her sister and she has some issues about that, which is completely understandable! But she is head strong and wants to learn how to hunt. She feels a need to belong and be useful to the people around her. And I get the impression she hopes to prove something to her blue alien.
I gotta say I loved this book!! I was getting rather bored with the series, the storylines had gotten kind of repetitive bit this was like a breath of fresh air. I actually loved Maddie and Hassen, and I thought their romance was super hot and sexy. She’s the curvy girl who’s feeling lost and out of place, and he’s the bad boy who took a gamble and had it blow up in his face. I’m quite amazed that Ms. Dixon was able to pull of such an unlikely dynamic. I mean Maddie was a bit of a b**** and he was this desperate, clingy hot alien who kidnapped her sister. It was so well-written that I didn’t care he’d screwed up so royally. I loved how assertive and openly-sexual Maddie was… again a nice change! I actually went back and re-read their first sex scene because I enjoyed it so much. And the slang OMG it was hilarious 🙂 Also, the way Ms. Dixon completely tore down the world she’d built over the last several books was brilliant. I can’t wait to read the next in this series.
