As one of the few humans stranded on the ice planet, I should be happy that I have a new home. Human women are treasured here, and one alien in particular has made it clear that he wants me. It’s hard to push away the sexy, flirtatious Aehako, when all I want to do is grab him by his horns and insist he take me to his furs.
But I’ve got a terrible secret – the aliens who abducted me are back, … are back, and thanks to the translator in my ear, they can find me. My presence here endangers everyone…but can I give up my new life and the man I want more than anything?

Yes! I adored these two so much.
It seems like the more I read of this series the better they get. Don’t get me wrong I have really liked all the couples in their own little way, but I absolutely adored Kira and Aehako.
This book is so emotional, yet so beautiful at the same time. I fell head over heels for Aehako because he is not only handsome, but he is also sweet, compassionate, funny, and very loving to Kira in every way. Kira goes from a shy and timid girl to such a strong and powerful woman by the end of the book. I loved the bond and connection between these two, Their story is different in that they have not ‘resonance’, but they feel attracted to each other. It could be a disaster or it could work out. What the resonance means is their cooties don’t or haven’t chosen each other to be mates, but Aehako wants Kira as his mate
I can’t wait to get started on book 4.
I have mixed feelings on this installment. On one hand, I was enjoying the lack of mate bond between them because it felt more natural of a romance. On the other, I’m all for the bonding! The thing I struggled most with is Kira. She turned away from Aehako, who’s nothing but a sweetheart to her because she fears trapping him because she can’t have children, and is scared his bond will awaken with another woman, leaving her alone. Reasonable fears and I’m quite for it. But I found she accepted his words so quickly it was a bit of whiplash. She went from not wanting to trap him, to believing him and loving him in the next. Also, she’s a huge downer character and was a bit eh to read about. Georgie was interesting, exploratory, etc. Liz was hilarious and fiery, making Kira a bit ef after reading about those two.
Still obsessing over this series though and I look forward to Harlow’s book
4 stars!
Yes! This book was definitely better than the previous one by a longggg shot. For one this book had more plot which made the book fast paced and made me accidently read it in like two days (AND I AM NOT SORRY FOR IT).
The two main characters were also more loveable in this one. Aehako is the sweetest of the barbarians in my opinion. Not to mention he made me laugh and smile a couple of times. In a way he reminds me a lot of my boyfriend. Which made me love him even more.
Despite the fact that some of the plot was predictable…I’m not going to which parts because I don’t wanna spoil anything, but yea. I NEED ANSWERS so I’M GOING TO READ THE NEXT BOOK ASAP!
P.S. if you haven’t started the series already… you should but just be warned, it’s hella addicting.
P.S.S. The WHOLE series is on kindle unlimited!
I was really excited for this book because the storyline involves the aliens that kidnapped them from Earth from Book 1 however, it fell a little short for me. Kira has got to be the most boring character ever:( Honestly, she’s everything I hate in a FMC, hardheaded & an over thinker. But it was interesting to read the story of a human who hadn’t resonated. As much as I didn’t like Kira, I think her & Aehako do make a cute couple. I loved how determined he was to be w/her even if she was being difficult. They are a bit bland though. The scenes weren’t nearly as spicy as the other books which doesn’t surprise me.
Kira and Aehako get their story in this book and dang it is sad. Kira’s story is sad and my heart hurt for her. She has a medical history that is having an effect on her. So we know the human females are resonating left and right. She feels as though what happened to her when she was kid id effecting her chance at love. She has sad eyes or so that is what Aehako says. He watches her and tries to get her involved in activities. He does everything for her to get her to talk. It is sweet and enduring and he is adamant that she is his mate. He gets some advise from Liz and oh my word is that funny. So never would have thought that tidbit of info would be in an alien book. However, it was hot as sin. So the question is does Kira get a happily ever after. You need to check it out, you will not be disappointed.
Barbarian Lover (Ice Planet Barbarians #3) by Ruby Dixon – This was a recommendation from TikTok, and it is on Kindle Unlimited. Have you ever wondered what you would do if you were abducted by aliens, retrofitted with a translation device, dropped on an alien planet, and caught the attention of a giant, blue Nightcrawler like alien? I no longer have to because I swear Ruby Dixon met me and based this character on me! Lol! This series has been a weird and fun guilty pleasure so far to the point that I may have persuaded other people to read them even though aliens aren’t really their jam. My love of syfi and romance novels have a cozy little nest in this series! Happy Reading!
I’m so happy Kira found love and an accepting mate in Aehako! He was so patient with her and a fierce protector once he fully claimed her. All of the women so far have been fighters so they are just as protective for their blue barbarian’s as well. I’m really enjoying this series.
Barbarian Lover (Ice Planet Barbarians #3) A Sci Fi Alien Serial Romance by Ruby Dixon. The book started out as heartbreaking as we learned more about Kira and what happened to her but moved back into the wit and fun. The story is romantic and sexy and totally addicting. Ruby’s quirky humour is back and Aehako is our sexy blue alien barbarian to find his story with his hooman. He made me laugh with his antics and his self-assessment at being good at things. These books are such easy reads that I can read in one sitting.
fall head over heels in love with
Aehako
Kira goes from meek to extra tough in this story. Aehako is the alien hero with the charm and the smile and he is 100% lovable. He is exactly what Kira needed. Laughs, heat, and some action are all in this book set on the ice planet.
Fun and sweet. Really enjoyed the story and the characters.
I’m so freaking obsessed with this series! It’s like I can’t enough of it! I literally don’t feel like doing anything but read. Every time I put it down I just keep driving myself crazy overthinking everything that’s happening or what’s going to happen. It’s just gives me this need that I just need to know NOW. It really gets me hooked from start to finish! Once I’m done I’m like man that was a great book, why is it over? Thank goodness I have a few to look forward to!
In book 3 we get Kira and Aehako story! This was such a cute and sweet story! He’s so good to her! So loving and caring. I truly loved him. She’s a bit shy and to herself but he understands her. He takes his time to get to know her, allows her the space she needs.
The story has the everything perfect for a book. they are super funny, intriguing with some light drama. They are short reads (maybe I just devoured them to fast) but are so perfectly written you can’t help become obsessed.
I’m invested. I want to read about everyone. How everything turns out for them. I want to meet the babies. See how that plays out. I’m so excited to find a series that really takes me away and keeps me in world like no other. Books like these is what reading is all about! Great escapes!
Wow! This might be a seriously awesome series, despite how weird the world sounds. I had heard about this series before, but because of its number of books put it off. Just saying, I totally shouldn’t have waited! I mean, this isn’t anything that’s going to become serious literature, but it’s fun, sexy and escapism at it’s best. I seriously enjoyed this one because the resonance wasn’t instantaneous and while fun loving hero’s aren’t my favorite type, I totally dig this one!
Kira comes off as whiny and annoying in this story. And impression totally different than that I had of her in the first book. Of course, the dialogue inside one’s head is often different than the image that they project on the outside. Such is the case here definitely. Also, this story goes totally against the whole idea of the “cooties” choosing a mate for everyone. Aehako falls in love with Kira and basically forces her to admit that she has feelings for him as well. Luckily, their cooties fall in line eventually and all ends well. Oh, after a bit of drama with the return of the alien kidnappers and the crashing of a spaceship and such.
I love this series but this is my all time favorite in the series!
Aw I loved this book. Aehako is cheerful, fun, and flirty and has his eyes set on Kira, who is sweet, if distant and melancholy. She has her reasons, having been awake on the slave ship the longest, and not only witnessing all of the brutality but also being the translator for the group since she got a bottom-shelf grade translator device stapled in her ear. Now, after she finally started to feel safe, her earpiece is picking up alien chatter again, and they’re coming back for their equipment and the abandoned “cargo”.
Kira really comes into her own in this book, developing from a bit of an Eeyore (hey, no judgement here, I’m a bit of an Eeyore myself) to a gun-toting, chopped-off-hand-wielding, space-ship-crushing badass. I’m grinning like an idiot just remembering it. Just read it already!
Barbarian Lover is book three in the Ice Planet Barbarians series by Ruby Dixon. This one features Kira and Aehako.
Their story is different in that they have not ‘resonance’, but they feel attracted to each other. It could be a disaster or it could work out. What the resonance means is their cooties don’t or haven’t chosen each other to be mates, but Aehako wants Kira as his mate
Kira is always sad, sad eyes as Aehako calls her. She worries a lot, is lonely, and has a secret. One that she feels will get her kicked out of the tribe and this secrets is why she has not resonated. I felt so much for Kira. She really got to me. Things aren’t easy for her, especially with this translator that the abductors put in her ear.
Aehako always has a smile and a funny thing to say. He watches Kira and acts the fowl just to see her smile. It was sweet how he tried to get her to open up and how he is protective towards her even though they haven’t resonance yet.
Wow very emotional. This story is a little sad and heartbreaking at times. Those humans that haven’t resonance feel rejected and are doing things to find their place or fit in. They are worried. As for Aehako and Kira, I loved how the romance bloomed and the sexual desires they have for each other. The ending surprised me. I got sad for a moment, but then it turned out happy. I keep getting surprised and sucked into the lives of these women and alien men.
Barbarian Lover was a sweet emotional journey. I loved this couple and the changes that are taking place. I’m hooked and of course have went out and bought the next book.
