This is a recipe book and short novellas combined! The recipes are from the various foods and drinks that were mentioned in the Man of the Series books for The Fix on Sixth. I’m not into cooking much but I’m going to try some of these recipes since it sounds yummy!
There are 4 short stories included. Three of them are follow ups on 3 of the couples so far and one of them is about a new couple. We get updates on what is going on in the lives of Reece and Jenna, Brooke and Spencer, and Nolan and Shelby. It’s great to find out more of what each couple has been up to since their stories even though we had gotten some updates on Reece and Jenna throughout the series so far. The new couple is Eric and Tiffany. They have been attracted to each other but they finally decided to do something about it or will they!
I can’t wait for more from the series and hopefully get more updates on the couples that have come together so far as the series goes along!
Bar bites is a collection of delicious recipes based off series and the bar in series! There is also a collection of short stories about different people from Man of Month series and the women they love! This is an easy to read book and even though stories are short it really draws you in! The recipes make you want to cook!
I really enjoyed Bar Bites. I love hearing about the lives of the couples after all the initial coming together angst, to hear how they are working out is such a pleasure. The recipes also look soooo good, I certainly want to try a few. A wonderful accompaniment.
I have to admit…I’m not much of a foodie or a drinker for that matter, but I love the atmosphere that’s created in a bar, and The Fix on Sixth definitely fits the bill when it comes to offering its customers a place to come together for some laughs, some adult beverages, some amazing appetizers, and one heck of a good time.
And because the bar and its crew offer a menagerie of eats, drinks, and merriment, its clientele keeps coming back for more, and it’s this eclectic bunch that has worked together to ensure The Fix remains a staple in their lives.
Bar Bites: A Man of the Month Cookbook showcases a little bit of everything when it comes to what the bar offers, and it also provides updates into the lives of some of the couples who have already graced the pages of this series, offering insights into how they’re working towards their happily ever afters. Readers also get to witness a new couple emerge and finally give into what they’ve been feeling for one another for quite some time.
Bar Bits is an interesting addition to the series because it takes a deeper look into the setting of most of its stories, and while The Fix isn’t always the central focal point, everything that the characters are doing in terms of the calendar is to save the bar, so it’s a cool idea to get a better idea as to why this bar is so beloved as well as catch up with some of the couples as readers head into the final stretch of the series.
4 Poison Apples
Bar Bites is a cookbook with “Slices of Life.” The slices are very short stories (epilogues) with Reece and Jenna; Nolan and Shelby; Spencer and Brooke; and a short story about a couple I’m sure you’ve been routing for. All these stories occur after the Man of the Month calendar is completed and into a new year. Each story was fun and sexy. While you know everyone is getting their HEA, I felt like there were a couple spoilers. Even though you can pretty much figure it out from the books so far, you’ll discover who Brent and Griffin definitely end up with.
So the recipes… They are all from the books including the Loaded Corona and Jalapeño Margarita. All the recipes are divided up per month and some are very seasonal. There are some recipes I’m looking forward to trying. I made the Pinot Punch, perfect for a warm day. The Cranberry Turkey Melt was awesome, but I did use white cheddar instead of Muenster.
This book is a must have if you have enjoyed the food and drinks in the Man of the Month books. While the regular stories revolve around romance and the need to keep the bar afloat, this book is all about the recipes for the food and drink within the stories. I cannot wait to try them in my kitchen. And in J. Kenner style the book also has a few short stories intertwined with some of the most loved characters in the entire series. You need to get yourself a copy of this book!!
So many recipes to all those goodies referenced in the Man of the Months novellas are compiled in this book and I look forward to trying so many of them, especially Pinot Punch which I have tagged for a party this summer. Any who…we are also treated to three epilogues which did the heart good! Reece and Jenna have the baby, Brooke and Spencer decide to elope, and Nolan and Shelby get engaged. Oh my, it is always good to go back and see how the couples are doing. We are also treated to a short story with a new couple we have been watching circle each other. Eric has managed to not get wrangled into the Man of the Month contest even though he is one of the best bartenders The Fix has and Tiffany has finally reached her breaking point or has he. Somehow they end up on a “date” but never actually go on the date. Just what they needed to finally break through.
What a nice extra treat that comes from J. Kenner’s Man of the Month series!!!
Okay, my first thought was, how am I going to review a cookbook? I have never done that before. Then I thought, well I can always turn to my hubby for thoughts since he always is cooking something new. But once I started to dig in, I was in for a surprise! You get your favorite characters and new ones with this book. You get little bit of a story line that will help you understand the recipes. And there was definitely a couple I have to try!!! Bar Bites was exciting to read and I am ready to start cooking with smile on my face. Bar Bites is like bring home a piece of The Fix on Sixth right into your kitchen! Bar Bites is a perfect book to celebrate your summer with!
What a great idea!
Fun recipes from our favorite bar in TX, glimpses into the relationships of some of our favorite couples, AND Tiffany and Eric’s story.
The stories themselves were good reads. Quick, sexy and fun. The recipes are fantastic, and most of them are MUST TRY.
This is a fun way to be introduced the the Man of the Month Series, and a must have for fans.
Final Score – 4.5 Stars!
So many culinary masterpieces had my mouth watering and my finger hitting the bookmark button as I will definitely be trying these scrumptious recipes come summer. The drinks alone … will have me in alcohol induced fog. Not that I care much about that!
Love the little snipets into the future of where our gang is at after the contest. Love is definitely in the air at The Fix and if it isn’t, our weight will definitely be!
Bar Bites is a short but full of amazing food and drink recipes. There are so many that I can’t wait to try and reading the Man of the Month series, I always thought they sounded good. In addition to the amazing food and drinks we also get short little snippets from our favorite couples. Even if you only like one recipe, it will be worth picking up this book.
Bar Bites is the perfect companion to this amazing series!
This was an interesting concept, part cookbook with recipes for both drinks and food and four short stories. The Lobster Rolls and Bacon Wrapped Tater Tots sound good. But then again, everything’s better with bacon and lobster! If you’re looking for something quick to read and new recipes, then this one’s for you.
When I started reading I couldn’t put it down I read the book in one day.J Kenner is magnifysent writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book.
Perfect bites! There are 4 stories interconnected with recipes featured at the Fix on Sixth. We get to check-in with Jenna & Reece, Shelby & Nolan, Spencer & Brooke while also getting Tiffany and Eric’s story. I am enjoying this entire series, getting to feel like I can live with the circle of friends brought together by the Fix on Sixth and this cookbook is a wonderful complement giving more insight into a few of the couples while providing one new romance along with a great mixture of recipes. Truly just a joy to read and enjoy. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Bar Bites J. Kenner
This is a great book that goes with the Man Of The Month series. It starts off with some great sounding recipes that I must try. After a few pages of the recipes we catch up with the group of characters that we have met throughout the series.
What can be better with good reading, catching up to characters of the series….the recipes. I am so happy they were added!
What a unique idea for a book! Take recipes that are featured in the Man of the Month series, sprinkle a couple of short updates and a short story throughout the book and call it Bar Bites. Can’t wait to try all of these recipes, and loved the short stories outlining some of our favorite couples. Looking forward to the next installment!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book
When I first started this book I was going over all the delicious recipes and being foodie I was in heaven but then as being a fan of this series, I realized there was extra in this book. Not only do we get delicious and tantalizing recipes, but we get stories about some of the memorable characters from this series after the Calendar was done. We get to follow Jenna, Reece, Nolan, Shelby, Spencer, Brooke as well as story about Eric and Tiffany. This is the perfect book to own to have some delicious food, drinks and hot romance on the side.
How do you make the series better?!?! You add a recipe book that has the drinks and food from the bar!! Whoop whoop as a foodie sort myself I of course was thrilled to see some of the recipes that are in here. OK no it may not be the healthiest but it looks darn good. Top it off with a quick steamy read about two folks that have been in the background and you have a true gem. Tiffany and Eric’s story has a nice twist to it and yeah it fits right in with the challenges these relationships have dealt with.
Love it food, friends and love what more can you ask for. This is a great read with recipes that make your mouth water. I can’t wait to try them out.
5 Star reviews of Bar Bites: A Man of the Month Cookbook by J Kenner & Suzanne M. Johnson
What’s better than sharing a great meal with loved ones and good friends? Not a whole lot I’m thinking, so to me this was a total winner from the start.
Bar Bites is filled with a few scenes about some of our favourite couples from the Man of the Month series, not to mention a couple of new characters, along with some truly spectacular mouth-watering and inspiring recipes which will leave you begging for more.
Often when you are reading one of the books you will find yourself imagining the dishes and or drinks that are mentioned Throughout the books the culinary delights are often mentioned in passing and many readers, me included have asked for the “secrets” to these dishes; this book is the result.
This book is a great mix of stories and easy to follow recipes that might well inspire your own Mon of the Month experience, I know I am certainly going to have a go at some of these recipes. This was a great combining of three of my passions, cooking, drinking and the highly successful Man of the Month series.
Way to go J Kenner and Suzanne Johnson; I loved this book and know that there are many who will appreciate it.

Of course I’ve loved the Man of the Month Series, but this is so much fun as well….just like bar bites of little foods and drinks there are little teasers of some of our favorite new couples. These recipes come at a perfect time…graduation parties and summer BBQ’s. Can’t wait to test them out…reading made me hungry!
“The man called to her without saying a word. Possessed her without using his hands. Captured her with only his eyes.”
Julie continues to amaze me with her creative writing concepts! You have never read a cookbook like this before…you may need to have a cool refreshing drink on hand for some of these mini slices of stories!
“I think you’ve destroyed me…In the best possible way.”
