I have had the privilege of reading all of the Love’s Second Chance books so far and have loved every one of them. Bree breathes life into her characters and plots that you just can’t stay away from the bookstore to wait for the next installment.
I found this story a little difficult to read because of all the angst. I so wanted to bash some heads together to make the H/h come to their senses and tell each other they were in love.
Moira Brunwood is banished from her hearth and home by here very own Laird for actions that nearly cost him his life. Moira was send to the MacDrummond Clan rather than sentence her to death for her crimes. Moira’s aunt lives with the MacDrummond Clan so she is put in charge of Moira in the hopes of avoiding another breach of trust.
Laird Cormag MacDrummond agrees to take Moira into his Clan, even though he knows what grave things she has done. Cormag and Moira begin to form a friendship that one man does not approve of. Cormag’s friend Ian takes an immediate dislike of Moira with every fiber of his being and begins a campaign to have her ousted from the Clan because he believe she will be the ruin of their Clan because she is a witch, a Seer.
As Cormag and Moira move closer together, what will happen? Will Ian succeed in having Moira banished from yet another Clan? Why does Ian hate Moira so much? If you want to know the answers to these and any other questions about Moira and Cormag, pick up a copy of this fabulous book and Enjoy! This is a clean historical romance for those who like clean historical romances.
I received a free review copy of this book from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I absolutely couldn’t put this book down, the characters reach Out and pull you right into their world with heartbreak and love mixed into a romantic world wind of the real struggles in life and falling helplessly I love you will regret not reading this book it’s my new found favorite
Book fourteen in the Love’s Second Chance series a well written story. This is Moira who was banished from her clan for a mistake she can not undo and Cormag, the leader of the clan MacDrummond takes her in. I enjoyed reading. I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing.
This is a nice clean romance written by the good author Bree Wolf. This is the 14th book in the series but it can be read alone. Because of the author’s writing style, while I was reading this book I felt a lot of the feelings Moira was feeling – her fears and doubts. Cormag was the head of his Clan and he took Moria in. Their relationship and story is over a 3 year period. I enjoyed this book like I enjoyed all Bree Wolf books.
A wonderful blend of hope, passion, romance, mystery. They fight the pull they feel towards one another as each learn to trust each other and stand together while in danger and in life.
Fantastic book! Plenty of action and suspense! Romance and suspicion on the beautiful highlands! I highly recommend this book!
This is the first book from Bree Wolf that I have had the pleasure to read. I enjoyed Moira and Cormag’s story. The variety of emotions pulls on the readers heart, and reminds us how important family and friends are to have!!
Other than the over use of the word “still,” the story was well written, with no detailed sex scenes. I recommend adding this wonderful story to your TBR list!!
Disclosure: I received an ARC from Bree Wolf for my honest opinion and review.

I can’t believe this is the fourteenth book in this stunning series, whilst each book can be read on its own characters do reappear & a lovely Breeworld is being built. Strong believable characters with plenty of depth & a flowing story that doesn’t lag have become trademarks of the series. I know once I settle down to read one of the author’s books I won’t want to leave it until I turn the last page & this engrossing read is no different. I found it to be a beautiful emotional tale, which took me through a gamut of emotions & I loved it
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
This is a fantastic story. The way the Author brings the story out. You get lost in the story with all the twists and turns and the Characters are so reL when you read. Its a real page turner, than I couldn’t put down. This is definitely a must read.

Great Highland Tale. This well-written storyline with wonderful characters, had me turning page after page to find out what would happen next. I really enjoyed how Moira’s story brought together characters from previous books as well as introducing us to new ones. Her struggle with loneliness was well handled and I felt so much empathy for her that I commiserated with her sorrow. Cormag is a strong character who is trying to come to terms with his duties as Laird, look after his clan and fight his feelings for Moira. Such a lovely ending.
This story had my eyes tearing up frequently. The way the author described the feelings of Moira made you feel her emotions. She had made a big mistake and had her family turn her out and send her to another clan where she was basically ignored. The laird, Cormag truly cares for her but his duty to the clan keeps him distant. Their story is certainly interesting and has many twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
I love when the bad guy from one book gets their own book and we realize they aren’t really as bad as we thought, often just misguided. This series has several of these stories. I love the act of redemption. We all make mistakes, big or small and we all can change. Moira was one of these misguided bad guys. Her story made me cry several times and I really felt for her. Still her story is a lovely one, even if it is a lonely and sad one at times. Cormag is what I think of a Scottish Laird, often ignoring his needs for the needs of his clan and hiding his own emotions. This story has a lot of complexities, but is beautiful.
After a terrible error of judgment, Moira is not only banished by her clan and family but rejected as well. She is grateful to Cormag MacDrummond for giving her refuge, but her strong will and inner strength are challenged over and over as she faces the stares and insults at the hands of her new clan. This book moves fairly slowly but a sweet love grows and develops between the Laird and Moira. As she slowly wins the people of the MacDrummond clan over, Moira does make new friends, but there is an immovable force that blocks her way. This book brings out the powerful nature of loneliness and despair, making one sympathetic to the choices made by those who have had to face them. The book comes to a bittersweet close and although Moira and Cormag win the day, it is not without tragic losses. Although part of a series and we meet up with characters from previous books, this is nevertheless a standalone. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
I love this story. It has drama, heartbreak, and love. This is a clean well written story and I highly recommend reading this book. Moria Brunwood was banished from her family and friends. She thought she was protecting her family ànd miss read her dream. She saw things in her dreams but sometime they were hard to interprete. Her brother took her to Clad MacDrummond to live with a different clan. Corman MacDrummon was the Laird their and lead their clan. He had the gift of reading what others were filling.
This is the latest book in the Bree Wold series. We caught a glimpse of these characters in two previous books. It was nice to find out more about them and see their love blossom. I especially liked the bit of magic in the book in the form of “gifts” each character has. A very enjoyable read! I highly recommend!
A great book with lots of character interaction. Moriah is banished from her clan and Cormag accepts her into his, but his people have fears about her. Cormag has his own secrets that he hides.
Will his clan accept Moriah?
Moira was driven by her dreams to follow a path against her old clan. She realized too late, however, those dreams led her astray. Now she is being banished to another clan, leaving her family and clansmen and women forever. She can’t believe she won’t see her brother Alastair and sister in law Deidre again. It could be worse though, and her Laird Connor did a huge favor to her brother by just banishing her. Will she ever find her way and be welcomed by a clan again?
Cormag felt her presence before he even knew who she was. He has lived with his gift, unbeknownst to anyone, for as long as he can remember. His father called him an empath but feeling what everyone else is feeling constantly, is draining on his soul. He knows he must protect Moira but also feels confused by his feelings so stays away from her.
Moira tries her best to stay out of everyone’s way. She lives life in the shadows but is sought out by the daughter of a clansman, much to his extreme displeasure. Ian has much anger toward Moira and she doesn’t quite know why. He seems to have made it his mission to be her punisher.
Cormag and Moira grow closer over the years, more so when she confides her gift to him. He trusts her dreams and judgment and is proven right time and again as her “interference” rings true more than once. His clan slowly starts to accept her, all but Ian. He seems too stuck in his ways to even give her a chance.
Together with their “gifts”, Cormag and Moira find more in common with each other than they could have ever imagined. They seem to be able to feel each other’s thoughts and desires. Will they be able to be together without repercussions from the clan?
I am a sucker for a good historical piece and once again the author doesn’t disappoint. I voluntarily read and reviewed this story without expectations. I have read every book in this series and while there are some crossover characters, they are all standalone reads. I inhaled this book in 1 day so now I am daunted with waiting until the next release.
Who hasn’t made a mistake in their life but Moira’s mistakes cause her to be sent from her clan and to seek shelter from her mother’s clan. She tries to hide her gift or perhaps it is a curse but if she sees she can prevent she must try to help. Most just get on with their own business but one man blames her for the loss of his wife’s love and wants revenge his close friend is Cormag, the Laird of the Mac-Drummond clan Moria’s new home. Cormag tries to protect her and hide his feelings for her, he will not betray his clan for his own wants. When things start getting troublesome they both must figure out want they really want before it is too late. Moria’s secret is known but Cormag’s is still hidden. Can’t wait to read more of Moria’s family in coming books.
Set in Scotland in the regency period, this story has a bit of fae in it.
Moira has the ability of sight, which has caused her to be banished.
Cormag is a dutiful laird and rakes in Moira.
Will he have to choose between Moira and his clan?
I liked this book.
Well written.
5 stars
I received a free copy of the full length clean historical novel Banished & Welcomed The Laird’s Reckless Wife ( Love’s Second Chance Series book 14: Highland Tales book 3) by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
A story of conflict, love, loyalty and duty with a poignant but happy ending. Complex, highly descriptive, easy flowing and captivating but with a sinister and suspenseful undertone in the form of depression, grief and death. Jealousy and second sight result in disgrace, betrayal, being labelled a witch and Moira’s being banished from her home and the protection of both her brother Alistair and her cousin Laird Connor Brunwood of Greystone Castle in the Scottish Highlands to the lonely protection of her mother’s sister and the clan of the empath Cromag MacDrummond of Seann Dachaigh Tower.
