In this Highland Regency romance by USA TODAY bestselling and HOLT Medallion winning author Bree Wolf, a reticent Scottish laird and a young woman banished from her own clan are swept into a romance neither one of them ever expected.Scotland 1808: As laird, CORMAG MACDRUMMOND knows his duty to his clan. All his life, he’s put their needs before his own, silencing his heart’s deepest desires. But … deepest desires. But then an allied laird makes a request that Cormag cannot refuse. Duty-bound, he offers the man’s fair cousin a place among his people, vowing to keep her safe from the dark rumours that follow wherever she goes. However, the moment he lays eyes on MOIRA BRUNWOOD, Cormag knows that he’s made a grave mistake.
Her soulful, blue eyes and unyielding pride soon steal into his guarded heart, and before long, Cormag finds himself falling under her spell in a way he would never have expected.
Moira has the Sight. Always have her dreams shown her glimpses of the future, and always has she acted upon them. However, one wrong step sees her banished from her own clan, her family, her home and thrust among strangers, who look at her with suspicion and mistrust. Whispers abound of her otherworldly abilities, and some even believe she’s a witch. Moira is determined not to cower, not to yield, and yet, she finds that loneliness is a fate worse than death.
Her heart aches for comfort, for closeness, longing for a chance at redemption…but even more so longing for the laird who granted her sanctuary.
Despite the cold distance that rests in his grey eyes, Moira soon learns that a warm and caring heart beats in his chest as Cormag comes to her aid time and time again. His strength makes her feel safe while his gentleness unwittingly steals her heart and stirs her pulse.
However, not all are willing to see past Moira’s transgressions, and soon Cormag finds himself torn between claiming the woman he loves and staying true to his people.

Mesmerizing!
If you have ever felt a premonition about something and didn’t heed the warnings or even the opposite, you did heed the warnings and felt great relief that you did or didn’t, then you will relate to this tale of a Scottish lass named Moira, who was banished from her clan and sent to another because she misinterpreted her foresight and betrayed her clan. If you have experienced none of these possibilities then perhaps this story will enlighten you and give you pause to think on it awhile. Bree Wolf has written a deep extraordinary tale in these pages. The characters could be very real. The setting in the Scottish highlands could be a true place. The era real or not is very believable. I am left stunned as I continued reading the last chapter, the last scene, the last word. This story was so compelling that I think I will never forget it. I will contemplate on it for a long time. Then I will read it again.
Perfectly charming and heartwarming characters. Interesting plot that kept me thoroughly engaged throughout. Enjoyed every minute of it!
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
I enjoyed this story with a well written storyline and characters that were so well rounded that I was engaged throughout the entire book! I always look forward to reading more of what Bree Wolf writes!
Really enjoyed this book. Love all of them, but this one was very enjoyable.
A story about forgiveness and hope that a better life can be found. Moira has the Sight but ends up betraying her clan so gets sent to her aunt in Cormag’s clan. There she has to find a way to forgive herself and find a future. She struggles to find forgiveness with the people, especially with Cormags friend Ian. Cormag hopes for a future with Moira but complications arise. It has a bittersweet ending but hope for a better tomorrow.
Bree Wolf never fails to amaze me with her beautiful words and stories. I received Banished and Welcomed as an ARC. This is the story of Moira and Cormag, 2 souls destined to eventually be with each other but not without the hurdles life throws in their way. There is a little bit of the unknown superstitious in this book, but most importantly, there is love and romance and the coming together and learning of how to recognize love and accept it for all it is worth.
16. Book 14: Banished & Welcomed The Laird’s Reckless Wife: also Highland Tales book 3: 5 stars
I received a free copy of the full-length clean historical novel Banished & Welcomed The Laird’s Reckless Wife ( Love’s Second Chance Series Book 14: Highland Tales book 3) by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
A story of conflict, love, loyalty, and duty with a poignant but happy ending. Complex, highly descriptive, easy flowing, and captivating but with a sinister and suspenseful undertone in the form of depression, grief, and death. Jealousy and second sight result in disgrace, betrayal, being labeled a witch and Moira’s being banished from her home and the protection of both her brother Alistair and her cousin Laird Connor Brunwood of Greystone Castle in the Scottish Highlands to the lonely protection of her mother’s sister and the clan of the empath Cromag MacDrummond of Seann Dachaigh Tower.
17. Book 15: Haunted & Revered The Scotsman’s Destined Love also Highland Tales book 4:5 stars
I received a free copy of the novella Haunted & Revered The Scotsman’s Destined Love (#15 Love’s Second Chance Series: Highland Tales book 4): Alastair and Deidre by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
A timely and easy flowing, poignant yet heartwarming and satisfying novella which contains the true meaning of family and a family’s love centered at Christmastime in 1800’s Scotland. This story is emotion-packed filled with heartbreak, hope, and a love that endures despite misunderstandings, changes, and challenges. 2 years after the loss of their 3-month-old daughter, grief over the loss of many babies leads the couple into emotional isolation. Just as Deidre fears she may also lose her husband Alistair, the fulfillment of his sister Moira’s puzzling dream promising a great love comes to pass when strangers bearing secrets stay at the castle during the Christmas season.
18. Book 16: Fooled & Enlightened The Englishman’s Scottish Wife also Highland Tales book 5:5 stars
I received a free copy of the historical romance Fooled & Enlightened The Englishman’s Scottish Wife: Love’s Second Chance Series: Book 16: Highland Tales book 5 by Bree Wolf and this review was given freely.
Complex and easy flowing with a few twists and a touch of the mystical in the form of young Blair, this struggle of duty over longing and love provides us a deeper insight into the cause of the broken relationship between Ian and Maggie MacDrummond, and although it did not lessen my sympathy for Ian it did increase my empathy towards Maggie. Ends happily but with a cliffhanger.
Separated by lies, Lady Margaret Brandley, daughter to the Earl of Tynham ruins her life with an unhappy marriage while Nathan Penhale, Earl of Townsend buries his heartache with multiple women and
alcohol until fate and a little help from Blair cause the now widowed Maggie MacDrummond to return to England and confront the man she thought broke her heart.
This story embraces the emotional turmoil associated with regrets, self-question, loneliness, and darkness of spirit. Readers who like lots of action might be disappointed in how much the internal struggles take over this book. However, I identified strongly with both Moira and Cormag. I enjoyed the secondary characters some of which are from prior books in the series. I recommend this book to historical romance readers who like emotionally charged, character driven stories.
Nice story.
This stand alone book in an entertaining series is better by reading all the series as the various characters become more “real”.
The author does a wonderful job of developing rich characters and plots.
I loved the main characters which are given gifts that makes them different than others but makes them stronger as well.
I struggled with the characters that lead to the antagonist’s journey. I did not like the selfishness that they both displayed… she by not standing by her choices and him by blaming others for choices. I realize this is what makes the story work and is well written but I wanted to shake them both! 🙂
I look forward to reading more of the series and by the author!!
I enjoyed it imensely, she makes the transfition from English to Scottish Romance brilliantly.
I love all Bree’s characters and this heroine is no exception. Wasn’t sure her past could be forgiven. Glad it was.
My! I wish I would rate this book higher than 5 stars! It was so well written, the characters so well developed, I never wanted it to end or to put the story down. An amazing story by a gifted writer!!!
It seemed to move slowly to me.
Protagonists find themselves in a chain of events that threaten peace amongst the clan and whether an exiled lady is welcome. A friend of the Laird angrily fumes over Moira’s presence and blames her for his problems. She’s a witch and a threat to the children. Will this man yield to his anger? Does Moira find allies within the clan?
Banished & Welcomed: The Laird’s Reckless Wife is a phenomenal historical romance by Bree Wolf. Ms. Wolf has provided readers with a well-written book populated with a spectacular array of characters. Moira belongs to Clan Brunwood and has visions. When one of her visions causes her to help with an act that could harm the laird and his wife she’s banished. Her brother leaves her with an aunt and Clan MacDrummond. Cormag is the laird of the clan and an empath and believes Moira when she asks for help with a vision. Their story is packed with drama, humor, spice, action and suspense. I loved this book from start to finish and will admit to tearing up a time or two. Banished & Welcomed is book 3 of the Love’s Second Chance: Highland Tales Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I truly felt I have read this story before but can’t find any mention it was part of a bundle.
Interesting character’s and a nasty villain who you are aware of from the beginning. I read book 1 of the series Tamed and Unleashed, book 2 of the series Dared and Kissed will not released until later, and this one is book 3. No idea why they are not listed in order. These 3 are part of the Highland Tales series. I felt lost at the betrayal Moira caused that had her being kicked out of the clan. We get some info on it, but I still wanted more.
No love scenes, a few passionate kisses and he cupped her breast once. Heat level .5 out of 5.
Mostly this is about Moira who has to make her way in a new clan. Everyone is aware her clan kicked her out so she is very alone. The author does a great job making you feel her despair.
Some violence, no cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, several people have a gift of predicting the future or feeling it. (ljb)
The power of love
Banished by her clan for a terrible mistake which lead to betrayal, Moira lives with another clan. Depressed and alone, even though she lives with her aunt, Moira comes close to taking her life. Only one man stands between her and death. An addictive series with overlapping characters, but you can still read each one as a standalone. Clean romance.
A mesmerizing, heart-melting book with twists and turns and enough suspense to leave you breathless or with a smile on your face! In Bree Wolf’s books, something good always comes out in difficult or over-bearing situations. Everyone deserves a second chance in love and life in general, if they have regretted and learnt from their mistakes. Moira has made a grave mistake but she tries to make amends for it, through her love, perceptiveness and determination. Cormag is a man who fights for his clan, is fair, amiable, sensible, but he also fights with his feelings for Moira, an inner battle so overwhelming, so intense… A wonderful book that touched my heart!
