Two men. Only one can be the best in the ring.Only one can make her completely his.AveryLife isn’t easy when your mother abandons you and the grandmother who raised you is gone. Ethan has been my best friend since middle school. He helped me out with college when I was flat broke, and now I feel like I owe him. So when he starts treating me like his MMA lucky charm, it’s hard to say no. But when … treating me like his MMA lucky charm, it’s hard to say no. But when he finally loses, he blames me—and Reaper, the guy who beat the crap out of him, is the one who rescues me.
I want to forgive Ethan … but I can’t resist Reaper.
Chase
Yeah, they call me Reaper, because I make anyone who fights me wish he was dead. I’m large and in charge with a big house, two cars, and enough money to party for the rest of my days. Life is great—but meeting Avery changes everything. She’s nothing like the ring girls I usually hook up with. There’s just something about her that brings out the protective beast inside me. She needs to be mine, but that cheating asshole Ethan is in the way.
I’ll do whatever it takes to claim her … even if that means destroying her best friend.

For someone who doesn’t like fighting I really enjoyed this book. Very refreshing and read it in record time!
I really liked the premise of this book: Avery’s best friend turns on her after losing a match so his opponent comes to her rescue. Avery and Chase are both great characters, real without being boring and interesting without being over-the-top. She’s had a really rough life and has always struggled, both financially and with being mostly alone in the world except for Ethan, who has been her best friend for years. Chase comes from a more privileged background but he works hard in his career and he’s very generous with the people he loves.
Avery has a lot of angst about Chase’s generosity because of the way Ethan has always made her feel like she owes him something for being her friend. Their dysfunction is the norm for her, so much that she doesn’t realize how bad things are until he does the unthinkable. This was a page-turner and I didn’t want to put it down. I loved the characters and enjoyed their story very much.
Previously I’ve only read the Disciple series of theirs. Don’t know how I missed this one. But I loved it. Chase and Avery have such great chemistry. I loved how fiercely protective Chase was of her before he even knew who she was, just because she was a woman.
Who do you choose? Your best friend or his rival? I enjoyed the book but like a little more backbone in the Heroines. I can see were Avery was coming from and where Avery was going. The journey was hot and well written even if a little predictable.
Great story! This is my first time reading a story by these authors and I was not disappointed. Love finding new authors and exciting stories like this one. After reading the sample I immediately bought the whole series. Chase and Avery are fantastic together, their chemistry is off the charts. There are some ups and downs. This story kept me on my toes, wanting more.
Reaper is as intimidating as he is hot. But he also has a heart as big as his biceps(shhh, don’t tell anyone. It will ruin his fighting cred). Aubrey is light in the dark. Aubrey was difficult to like at first but at the end I loved her to pieces. She makes Chase want to be a better man. The story was absolutely amazing. These authors made characters easy to love and others easy to hate. The story hooked me from the first page and I ended up reading about Chase and Aubrey non stop.
My first Sean Moriarty/Izzy Sweet read and I’ll definitely be going back for more. Chase has a type. He also doesn’t do relationships. His only love (besides his Dad of course) is fighting. He is a star in the ring and that’s how he likes it. Avery wants to support her best friend Ethan, especially his dream to become an MMA champion. How can she explain that the man who beat her best friend is the man who gets her engines running. These two are most definitely steamy together and the story is about way more than fighting in the ring. It is about fighting for your life, the one you never knew you wanted and it is about fighting for what and who you love.
Not quite sure what to say about this book. I went into it with high hopes but it was just bad. There were so many contradictory statements. I don’t mind insta-love (in a few cases) but this was crazy! This story didn’t feel natural. It felt rushed and like it was trying too hard. I didn’t feel any type of connection with the characters whatsoever.
There’s also a difference between a naive character and a character who’s written to be idiotic. Sadly, this was the latter for me. The heroine was ridiculous. Here’s an example (the H and the h have just reunited and he points out a plant he bought for his house…yeah, that was the changes he made…he bought a plant)…
H: “I want to make the house more comfortable for you, but if you don’t like it, we can sell it.”
h: “Sell the plant? I ask. Who would want to buy a used plant?”
*rakes hand down face* That is just the tip of the iceberg, my friends. There were SO many things wrong with the story. I do want to read the rest of the books in this series (I had a friend say she loved them) but I don’t think I can jump right into the next one yet.
I hate to write a review like this but these characters, and their story, felt more cartoon-ish than a Saturday morning!
Avery is just a girl, who’s in school and struggling to get by. She has no family, only her buddy Ethan. He’s always helped her out and supported her until recently. Ethan fights in MMA and wants Avery to be by his side as his good luck charm.
At a fight, Avery sees Reaper for the first time. He happens to be Ethan’s opponent. Even though her BFF is fighting him, she can’t help but be attracted to him.
When things take a bad turn, Ethan shows his true colors and Reaper steps in to protect Avery. Now she’s left reeling and alone. She’ll have to figure out who is really on her side and willing to fight for her.
Reaper and Avery have chemistry that is off the charts. Reaper may be a big and bad fighter, but with Avery, he shows his soft side. He can’t stop his undeniable attraction to her and he’s willing to do anything to keep her. Avery wants a partner but she doesn’t want to be indebted to anyone. Reaper was the perfect man. An alpha, protector but also sweet and thoughtful. These two will have to find their happy medium so they can live their own Happily Ever After.
I liked the story. It stayed interesting enough to keep me reading. I didn’t care too much for Avery’s insecurity and naiveté. She never asked her friend Ethan if he was expecting anything in return for his help. I disliked that she lashed out at Chase yet continued to accept Ethan’s help. I didn’t that Chase didn’t apologize for overstepping his bounds and going behind Avery’s back to help her. There’s a scene where he realizes it was wrong but he doesn’t really tell Avery that. I also didn’t like that Chase made the unilateral decision to stop using condoms. Despite all of this I liked the book. I’ll read more from this author.
