She tempts Bane to distraction. And distraction is deadly in his world.
Buttoned-up and meticulous Dr. Ryan St. Cloud never thought she’d find herself in the mix of a motorcycle club, let alone one full of terrifyingly badass vampires. Or how intrigued she is by their dark and enigmatic leader, who seems balanced on the knife’s edge of killing her…or claiming her.
But Bane’s choice is harder than it seems, because when that danger hits too close to home, he’s forced to choose between her life and everyone else’s…

Vampires, motorcycles and magic! Bane’s Choice offers heart-pounding action and sizzling heat!
Alyssa Day never disappoints. Smoking hot characters, can’t-put-it-down storytelling, and page-turning action, make this book a do-not-miss! Highly recommended.
Vampires, motorcycles, humor and heat? Yep, it’s a winner. I’ve loved Alyssa Day since the beginning, and she’s only getting better!
This is the first book in a new series. Vampires are the focus of this new MC story but the MC part is in the background.
Bane is a three hundred year old vampire who hasn’t met his match until now.
He gave her his best lustful villain smile. “Well, fair maiden. You’re asking a lot of questions. You know what the cost is for each one.”
Dr Ryan St Cloud is feisty, sassy and not afraid of anything even Vampires.
“This isn’t good,” Luke snapped, glaring at Ryan. “Thank you, Captain Understatement,” Ryan snapped right back at him.
“Maybe you could just pee on my shoe next time,” she said sweetly, moving out from beneath his arm. “I’m sure that would mark your territory.”
Evil Warlocks, werewolves, vampires and more inhabit and want to run Savannah. A supernatural war is brewing.
The only thing I didn’t like about this book was that 70 % of the book the characters were angry at everyone. Not sure that was called for.
**I received a copy of Bane’s Choice from Entangled Publishing and Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review. My opinions are mine alone and not solicited.**
Bane’s Choice by Alyssa Day is the first book of her Vampire Motorcycle Club. She’s a new author to me and when I read the preview I thought MC and Vampires sounds interesting. It’s that and a little bit more with a Warlocks, Werewolves and Fae thrown into the mix to make it MORE interesting but with a bit too much of the fantasy creatures. All in all it was a good read and I give it 4 stars.
Dr. Ryan St. Cloud is shocked to find out that one of her patients is now missing but the people who’ve taken him try some of their magic on her and it doesn’t work so she sets out to find them. Little does anyone know that she’s talented on her own and is clueless as to why because she’s quite capable on her of taking care of herself. But can she guard her heart from Bane?
Bane knows that the Chamber and their minions are in New Orleans but why and when they start targeting all of the night creatures he’ll have gather some of his own to fight them. But why do they want NOLA other than it’s mysterious people?
This is book one of a new series, the story is about Bane and Doctor Ryan. This story is an MC trope mixed with paranormal, making this story quite interesting. There is a lot going on in the story, especially because it starts in the middle of it and then you get the hang of what is going on and their background. I did have some questions that still need to be answered somehow in the following books. Ryan was a character I liked and truly want to see what will happen with it all, the worldbuilding is still a bit undeveloped for my taste, and I would’ve liked a bit more between Bane and Ryan before they get involved as I thought it was a bit rushed, overall I think it’s an interesting start to a new series.
Bane’s Choice is the 1st book in this new series by Alyssa Day and I enjoyed it. The minute I saw vampire and motorcycle club I knew I wanted to read this novel as a MC club with vampires was not something I’ve read before. It took me a little while to get into the story at the start but when I did it was an interesting read. There was a lot happening in this novel from the building romance between Ryan and Bane to the fight for territory between the supernatural factions. The building chemistry between Ryan and Bane was explosive and I loved how different they were. Additionally the author created some secondary characters who caught my interest and I can’t wait to learn more about them in coming book. This was an enjoyable read and I would recommend it to all lovers of paranormal romance.
Warriors of Poseidon by Alyssa Day is one of my all time favorite series. So when I saw that she was writing a brand new series, I jumped at the chance to read an early copy. Plus Vampire Motorcycle Club is an eye catching series title.
Although it wasn’t exactly what I was expecting. I have read plenty of motorcycle club books and this is not that. Is there a motorcycle club? Yes. But it is nothing like a “typical” MC. Bane is the head of the club. He is a vampire that has been alive for 300 plus years and he doesn’t have emotions.. until he meets doctor Ryan. Ryan brings out a lot of emotions in him. Ryan is a human doctor who was in the wrong place and the right time. She was taking care of a patient when Bane shows up and take her patient! Ryan won’t have it.
I am going to be honest, I didn’t fully love either of the MCs. It felt like Bane was trying too hard to be a hard man… and Ryan accepted everything too easily and put herself in danger just because she thought she could go up against a vampire. So they annoyed me a little bit. BUT I loved the other characters. I loved the storyline. I can’t wait for the next book!
I got this book from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is book in the Vampire Motorcycle Club series. And in it we meet Bane and Ryan. Bane is head of his territory of vampires and is determined to keep it safe from the death magic that is invading. He is one of the oldest of the vampires and is mostly cold and unfeeling. Until a doctor is thrust into his path that frustrates him but also makes him feel. Ryan is an overworked doctor who never expected her life to take the turn that it does. She never expected to be mixed up with a motorcycle gang let alone for them to be vampires! And she certainly didn’t expect to have such an attraction to a certain vampire in particular. Or to want to know everything about him. But when she is pulled into the middle of the mess that his people are in, neither expects for things to happen the way they do.
Ok so parts of this story I absolutely loved. Other parts I felt almost lost about? It’s hard to explain. I almost felt like there is a prequel out there somewhere that I should have read first, because this book just jumped right into everything like we already knew the backstory. Other than that? I thoroughly enjoyed it! I loved the interactions between Bane and Ryan along with his crew. The banter back and forth between all of them kept me reading and I didn’t want it to end. I think I need more of a backstory type book though about the characters and how they came to be together. All in all, not a bad read and I would definitely read it again. And I can say that I will read the next one as well!
I’ve totally been sucked into this new world. I haven’t read anything by thia author before so I had no preconceived ideas based on previous work.
Although there is an MC mentioned, it actually takes a back seat as such, It’s certainly not an “MC” in the usual sense. Although there is “criminality” afoot, it’s much more of the on the Knight on Shining bike type than Sons of Anarchy in my opinion.
Ryan just thinks she’s a plain old doctor. But there is something very different to Ryan. When she comes across a burn victim who seems to be in the process of being abducted, she tries to raise the alarm. But Bane is more than stumped because she just doesn’t seem to allow his “pushes” to stick. It’s like she can shake them off.
Bane has been around for a long time. He and his sister were made at the same time by his old employer, his sister’s actual bio-dad. They’ve acquired a diverse group in the centuries since. But they all agree that The Chamber is getting too big for their collective boots again.
There is a great mix of family dysfunction, found families, snarky banter, and hot passion. There will be a character for everyone to love. There are lots of supernatural races represented and each vampire has an added extra little talent; technowizardry, flying, etc.
I’m really looking forward to book 2 – I will be TBR that baby asap!
When Bane goes to the hospital to take his mortally wounded friend in the hopes of turning him, he meets the fiery Dr. Ryan St. Cloud. Intelligent, sassy, and fierce, Ryan is the first person in a long time to challenge Bane, and he is instantly intrigued. Who is this fascinating and intelligent woman, and why does she move him so? On top of that, how does she resist his powers, and why does she glow?
Ryan is shocked when she sees a stranger trying to steal her patient. However, she never expected to be thrust into a world of vampires and a supernatural battle for power. She also never expected to fall for the mysterious and handsome kidnapper. As her feelings for Bane grow, can Ryan protect her heart and her patient?
Ryan is such an interesting character and one of my favorites in the story. A human immersed in a supernatural world that was previously unknown to her, Ryan hides her fear and stands up to Bane and his intimidating peers. I like her gumption, her take-charge personality, and her humor. I love how Ryan’s humor and sarcasm not only brings a bit of light-heartedness to the story, but it also breaks down the wall that Bane built around his heart. As the leader of his motorcycle club and head of his household, Bane shoulders a lot of responsibility, and, as a long-living vampire, he’s experienced a lot of loss. Ryan makes him feel things he hasn’t felt in a long time, and Bane makes Ryan feel desired. They fill voids in each other’s lives, challenge each other, and are really attracted to each other, which leads to a chemistry-laden romance. Get a fan, because Ryan and Bane’s sexy scenes are swoon-tastic!
Bane’s sister Maera is another intriguing character. Like Ryan, Maera is a strong, independent woman who is unwilling to bend to the alpha males that fill her life. She is loyal to a fault and respected by her family. Sharp and fierce, Maera is also vulnerable and loving. Though Maera isn’t the main focus of the story, she leaves a strong impression, and I’m hopeful that her story will be further explored in future books. I also like that Ryan and Maera developed a friendship. Often, women become competition or rivals in romance novels, and I like that the author took Ryan and Maera’s relationship in a different direction.
Other minor characters, like Edge, Mrs. C, and Luke are dynamic additions to the story, and their camaraderie is funny and heart-warming. I also like the plot, which includes a battle for power among the supernatural. Warlocks and necromancers threaten the precarious peace among the vampires and wolves. As the battle heats up, Bane and his family must do everything they can to protect their people as well as themselves, which grows increasingly more difficult.
Bane’s Choice is a well-paced, immersive, and sexy story that will appeal to readers of supernatural romance. The story wraps-up nicely while still leaving some questions unanswered, which I liked. I’m curious to learn more about Ryan. What is she? How does she resist the powers of the vampires? What will happen to Maera and her potential love interest? Will the warlocks cause more trouble? I can’t wait to find out! Thanks so much to Netgalley, Alyssa Day, and Entangled Publishing for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
Believe the Unbelievable
Alyssa Day builds an interesting world of supernatural creatures and magic. When warlocks start settling in to Savannah Georgia, Bane and his Vampire Motorcycle Club strike back. Bane is cold, dangerous, and full of rage. Ready to hunt down and kill any invaders in his territory. The Chamber is a cult of blood magic, and more dangerous than even Bane can handle. So, right from the beginning there is quite a bit of blood, violence, and swearing. Despite Bane’s refusal to recognize his own feelings, he is loyal and protective of his club. Meara, Luke, Edge, Evans, Mr. Cassidy, and Mrs. Cassidy, are all important to him. But it takes the spunky and stubborn Dr. Ryan St. Cloud, to heal his heart. Ryan is a modern feminist, who is both ordinary and gorgeous, with no filter. Their relationship is a bit questionable at the beginning, as Ryan is drunk and believes she is hallucinating, where Bane is possessive. Though, why should consent ever be questionable in a romance, even after genuine apologies? Ryan handles it all surprisingly well, as her job as a doctor is her main concern. They eventually build a relationship on passion, and their protective natures. Growing a lot as characters, learning to value themselves and each other. Bane’s Choice is a steamy, action packed, contemporary paranormal romance.
Bane’s Choice is book one in the new series: Vampire Motorcycle Club by Alyssa Day. The story focuses on Bane a centuries old vampire and Doctor Ryan St. Cloud. Bane is the quintessential, arrogant male who at the beginning of the story comes across as really angry and in need of revenge. Being part of a MC also means that he has a lot of people to look after but at times he can come across quite heartless as he doesn’t really care about who dies in his club except a few close ‘friends’. The story starts strong with us being encapsulated in a paranormal story where all the things that go bump in the night live and breathe in a modern world, but don’t necessarily get on.
We’re introduced to the head strong Doctor St. Cloud when Bane barges into her hospital trying to help his seriously injured friend and tried to glamour the head strong doctor, which just doesn’t work. Here, Ryan enters a world that she never knew existed while questioning everything she knows and her sanity. But like most paranormal books, the human isn’t going to be left alone and she is dragged into Bane’s world, albeit a little bit reluctantly.
There is a lot going on in this novel (mainly due to the fact that it’s the first in a series), not only do we have the building love story between Ryan and Bane, we also have the fight for territory between the supernatural factions going on as well. As a reader I was a little confused at the beginning as you really do jump into the middle of the story before really knowing anything about Bane and his MC, but more info comes out throughout the story which helps to place where people belong and a little bit of their history.
This is an exciting new read with a twist on the traditional MC book. If you like your men broody and your women headstrong, then this is the one for you!
ARC received for a fair, honest and sometimes long review. All opinions are my own.

Bane’s Choice is a wonderful start to a new series. This story is filled with magic, mayhem and love. The characters are engaging and make you want to know more. There is a delightful thread of humor throughout the tale that entertains.
Bane’s Choice is an exhilarating, unexpected, and marvelous introduction to a fabulous new series! It has all the danger, intrigue, and heart that I love in an excellent fast-paced story. I enjoyed the new twists on vampire lore, and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Bane has lived a long life. He is bone tired and his heart has dulled leaving him empty and going through the motions. When he comes face to face with a woman who turns his world into utter chaos, he doesn’t know if he would kill her or kiss her. Either way, he knows he will never be the same again. He is drawn to her unique and pure heart, and he knows he just needs more. Ryan doesn’t know what she did to deserve her world being upturned, but she isn’t sure that it is a bad thing. Can these two work together long enough to breathe some hope into their lives, or will they lose each other just as they find one another?
Watching these two circle each other was a like watching a strange new mating dance. They watched, they circled, and then they struck. Learning to live with a heart they feels again nearly turned Bane insane, but Ryan settled and centered him on her and what they we were becoming to each other. She balanced and energized him. They both brought meaning and hope to the other and proved that life is more then worth living when love is allowed to rule and heal.
I have never read a book by Alyssa Day, but I guarantee that this will not be my last. She is refreshing and challenging, and I want so much more now. I encourage you give this new series a try. You won’t be disappointed.
Okay, gotta admit it. This cover is hot, hot, hot and is what attracted me to read this story, and I wasn’t disappointed. Bane is a three hundred year old vampire who controls the action in Savannah. He’s tough and gorgeous. He’s got a few close friends who he calls family and tries to keep his territory his own through serious force
His whole life is upended when he meets Dr. Ryan St. Cloud, and immediately wants her. Mine — as the vampires say. Curiously enough, Ryan feels a definite attraction to Bane, and when he reveals what he is, she’s intrigued rather than afraid. I liked her gutsy attitude. And these two are really hot together. There’s some nice “yearning” going on here.
There’s really great banter between the characters in this book, especially coming from Dr. St. Cloud. The relationships between Bane and Ryan and Ryan with the other vampires keep things snappy and I just found myself drawn into this story very quickly. Bane’s territory is in danger of being taken over by some other nasty paranormals and the story centers around that, and Bane’s new obsession with Ryan.
I really enjoyed this. The banter is awesome, and the love story between Bane and Ryan was satisfying. I did think the ending was very rushed, and there are many reveals in these final pages and lots of action.
Overall, this was a very romantic and heated paranormal romance. I would like to read more about these characters, especially Meara, Bane’s sister, so it’s a good setup for future stories.
An ARC was provided by the publisher. This is my honest review.
Bane’s Choice
Vampire Motorcycle Club Series #1

Sons of Anarchy meets True Blood in this sexy new series from New York Times bestselling author Alyssa Day.
Bane lost his humanity ages ago. Nothing is more important than protecting his Vampire Motorcycle Club from the death magic invading his territory. The most ancient of vampires, he seeks cold, unfeeling, bloody vengeance…until a frustratingly sexy human doctor is thrust into his path.
When forces in league to destroy him lead him to his future …
This is my first read by the author, and while the beginning confused me a bit, I thought I missed some intel first, but I quickly understood it was intended, to add a veil of mystery over the many new characters.
Bane is introduced as the ultimate alpha, as he cared for nothing than his territory, only the land, not the people. A big bad wolf hunting along the woods he peed in.
When he is so much more, straightly the opposite of uncaring as he promptly demonstrated by rushing to save a dying human.
After one does not survive and live more than three hundreds years without being a bit conceited and high-handed.
And Ryan reveals the teddy bear in him, well a grouchy bear, around her he is bewildered, bewitched. A snarling bear defending his dominion.
Ryan is the conundrum of this tale, why is she immune to him, and the others. Why can’t he swap her memory, his Men-In-Black internal Neuralyzer device does not work on her.
She is no badass heroine, she helps people, care for them. Her heart is her weapon. But Bane awakens the warrior in her, she stands her ground and despite her fears, she never backs off.
I have read some reviewers wondering why they let it pass this “detail”, but the span of time of the main action is at the longest three days. When over this brief period, they hunt a necromancer, they monitor a peculiar vampire turn, and Ryan upsets Bane’s world, her particularities intriguing him.
I loved every second of my reading, I can’t wait to learn more about Edge, Meara, Luke, Hunter and Reynolds, even if he is no vampire.
My only complaint was the climatic battle was not so epic, and the ending a bit rushed.
Outside this, what a fun introduction to a new group of characters.
4.5 stars

Bane’s Choice starts the Vampire Motorcycle Club series, and I received a copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I haven’t read books by Alyssa Day before and based on this one, I’m not sure I will.
It’s a fairly typical first book in a paranormal romance series. There’s the main couple, a group of secondary characters that are given enough airtime to make the reader curious about their stories, and a larger enemy that will threaten the wellbeing of the characters throughout the series. Yet it failed to engage me.
Bane is a three hundred years old vampire living in Savannah who runs a motorcycle club with ruthless anger. Ryan is a doctor who believes herself boring. There’s instant lust between them, brought on by her inebriation and his fascination with a human he can’t control with magic. She has a rude awakening into the world of supernatural, but she rises to the occasion and discovers she’s stronger than she believed. Along the way, they fall in love.
I found the love story slightly problematic. It wasn’t that Bane had a tendency to force his will on Ryan, because she soon taught him to ask for consent in everything. But their love relied too much on other characters telling Ryan how wonderful Bane is when all the evidence she—and the reader—got was the opposite. Yet she based her love on the testimony of other people. So I found it difficult to believe in their happily ever after.
Beyond the romance, the story was all over the place. There was a vampire whose turning was going badly; there was a mystery concerning Ryan; there were issues between secondary characters; there were werewolves to deal with and the emergence of the enemy, warlock necromancers who were trying to take over the territory. None of it guided the narrative in any way. The enemy showed up when it wanted to and was gone in the next chapter (that dealt with something else as if nothing was amiss), and the solutions to all the problems showed up on their own at the end. On top of all this, the book was filled with placeholder scenes that didn’t advance the plot and only existed to tell Ryan once again how wonderful Bane was. All this made the book overly long and gave the notion that the author didn’t really know where she was going with it.
I had issues with the characters and the setting too. All the main characters were constantly angry and aggressive, reacting to one another with violence and rage. I found it difficult to understand what had kept them together all these centuries if they hated each other so much. I didn’t find them interesting or likeable, and I don’t want to read more about them. Savannah as a setting was an odd choice too. I just couldn’t fathom why it was of such strategic importance that a powerful organisation of warlocks would start their conquering of the US from there. If the author had utilised the special features of the place to paint a better picture of it for the reader, it might have worked as a unique location, but now it was just a lifeless backdrop that could’ve been anywhere in the world. And the greatest issue of all: why is it called the vampire motorcycle club, when none of the characters showed any interest in motorcycles and—beyond the opening scene—the bikes played no role in the story?
I started out as a fan of Alyssa Day’s Warriors of Poseidon series—the books are all carefully lined up on my keeper shelf in my office—and she’s definitely hooked me with this new series: BANE’S CHOICE. Bane is a vampire like no other, 300 years old, he’s forgotten what it’s like to feel human, in fact, to feel anything at all. Yet he cares for people without being truly aware of his need to do good. When he ends up colliding with a female doctor who stands up to him without fear, he’s not quite sure how to handle her. He knows he’ll have to kill her at some point—she knows too much about his world—but he can’t quite bring himself to do it. At least not yet.
Dr. Ryan St. Cloud has never been a beauty, never taken chances, and generally thinks of herself as “Reliable Ryan,” a good doctor but boring personified, and yet her strange meeting with the powerful vampire changes her life in ways she never imagined. And I can say, without a spoiler, this book has a twist I didn’t see coming, but it is absolutely perfect, and adds so much more to the reliable doctor’s character.
Bane’s Choice has it all, with an opening that sucks the reader into a violent battle between good and evil where the vampires are definitely the good guys, and the bad guys are truly awful. Set in Savannah, Georgia with wonderful, fully formed characters that practically leap off the page and a non-stop plot that doesn’t slow up for a second, it had me hanging on for dear life until the very end.
It’s always fun to read the first in a new series, especially when is as sharply written as this one. There’s humor and drama, some bloodthirsty battles, and the sweetest intimate scenes between the vampire and his doctor that will have you rooting for the two of them, no matter how hopeless it seems.
I will never grow tired of the wonderful paranormal worlds that talented authors create. My hat’s off to Alyssa Day who is completely unable to write a book that’s less than amazing. Five very well earned stars, and a definite recommendation.
Great characters. Book had it all. Vampire MC with a Grumpy vampire who doesn’t know what to do with the glowing human doctor. Warlocks and Necromancers, secret evil society, and helpful MC Werewolves. Great read.
