They call him the Bane. She calls him her hero.Maude never considered herself weak-minded, not until she woke up hearing a voice inside her head. Now she’s dealing with alien captors, a bio-mechanical organism infecting her body, and two brutal suns frying her skin. Oh, and time is not on her side. Her sole ally is a towering Teras alien who steals her breath with his brilliant smiles and heated … smiles and heated gazes. She desperately needs to get home, yet her savior is stealing her heart.
Therion Borac is many things. His mother’s darling. His father’s hellion. His house’s bane. Never an honorable man. When his house calls upon him to rescue an abducted human woman, he’ll eagerly save the lady but won’t hope for anything more. With crime lords and powerful Teras organizations threatening Maude, he knows she’ll need a scoundrel at her back more than she’ll need an honorable man at her side. For Maude, he will gladly remain the Bane.
Bane is a science fiction romance with action elements, crude (oh, so crude) humor, tender moments, and steamy close encounters. Contains explicit themes and is intended for adults only. No cheating. No cliffhangers. Characters battle for their hard-won HEA. Enjoy!

I loved/hated/loved this book
Do you remember the first time you had a sour sweet. You screwed up your face and then took another…. well this book started this way for me
The story is told with references and language that is not always clear and I confess that I almost put this down but this had nothing but good reviews.
…..So deep breath…..stick with the book and read another couple of chapters.
Wow! As you continue to read, the details become clearer and story more addictive
Great characters, a great story and so glad I did not put this book down.
I missed the first book and now off to read that to see what I missed. I will follow this author and eager to see what follows
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and loved this book so much that I bought the book, read and bought the first in the series so I can support the author…… and pretty much read and bought everything else she has written on her own or in collaboration with Honey Phillips
The start was a bit puzzling and what looked like captured slaves trying to escape turned out to be something completely different. This story is about aliens from planet Teras saving humans who appear to possess a specific talent that marks them as distinguished and desirable. Everyone is playing a role, well every Teras, because Maude, the human has no idea what is going on. The Teras in charge of her rescue is Therion and he quickly falls in love with Maude. However Maude has her heart set on going back to earth because she desperately needs to be reunited with her sister. Things get overtly complicated specially since Maude is suddenly very much aware of her need to be near Therion. I absolutely loved this story. I love that Bec writes amazingly rich stories that make you feel as if you are part of the story.

Therion is such an amusing character! Love him so much!
It starts slow but then lives up to its promise, although the story is slow to start, once it gets going, it really rocks! The characterizations were complex and well written, I loved the dichotomy between Therion and Maude and how they naturally complement each other. I loved the first book in the series and looked forward to reading this one, they were both interesting in their own ways. I’m looking forward to the next one, where maybe the energy shells will reveal some good news for Seph and Maude. Therrian was beautifully irreverent and completely fun to read and Maude was just a nice person, regardless of her predicament. I loved them, you probably will too!
This was a fun and exciting adventure. Therion and his motley crew that was his family go and save Maude. When they get back to their ship she realizes that her younger cousin is there but is all grown up. The shenanigans that Therion goes through for Maude are funny and his family is a hoot.

First, I’ve lol til my side hurt reading the book. The hero Therion makes me chuckle none stop and so does Gummy, who isn’t what he seems and it goes an amazing twist in the mid to the halfway point of the book. it shocked me that I didn’t figure it out. Still, think Gummy is a bad*** though. The story itself is intense, you’d have to read the second book, and the first and then this book to really understand Therion. From start to finish I enjoy reading the book and I enjoyed it better reading the three together.
I love the hero, love gummy and I’m mah with the heroin but I love that she understands Ther. If I could I’d give the book over five stars.
So would recommend this book to any SFR reader who needs a giggle and laugh.
Brilliant!! Bex McLynn has crafted a world with the intrigue of the days of knights & ladies and mashed it up with a futuristic alien romance! Bane is a multi-faceted masterpiece. Therion is of House Borac. He’s a younger brother to the Thane. He’s Irreverent and a ne’er-do-well of many talents. Then enters Maude who awakens on a desert planet with a “spider” of alien tech attached to her. (You’ll come to love Kora, the spider.) Coveted human and a technopath, of which she is unaware, Maude is being held prisoner as her captor prepares to auction her. Therion, caught and sold as a slave, arrives to rescue Maude. It’s a favor to Seph from book 1. Therion is hilarious always talking about scheduling a riot with the guards and captives. The Bane doesn’t expect to grow attached to sweet Maude, but as the story unfolds that’s what happens. As a human, Maude is an opposite to our other human, Seph, who has an actively aggressive persona. Bane has many layers. Some of my favorite parts were the tactical maneuvers of escape and destruction. This book is so much more than a love story! It’s witty, intelligent, super steamy, and all about family. Well worth the wait! 5 stars
I loved this one the best. So imaginative. Love Gappy and Gummy! The spider is just brilliant. I have a deep suspicion about Xander. When are we going to get some movement towards Earth. I feel like it’s just getting drug out, for effect. Love Maude and Therion. This was so well done. I won this in a giveaway and I was not disappointed. I can’t wait to read ThaneCuller!!! Yes!!
This is a fantastic follow up and much anticipated sequel in The Ladyships series.

To enjoy this book and the series to its fullest you need to have read Thanemonger, it’s filled with back story that you NEED to know! And it’s a bloody blindingly great read. I also recommend that if you haven’t you also read prequel novella for the same reasons.

Bane picks up where Thanemonger ends and dives straight into the action…and the wonderful ‘Fucking Therion’ aka Bane is still as ever the wonderful enigma that we met in book 1. I adored this book for many reasons…
the first and for most was we got to look into Therion’s mind…we learnt more about how and why he is, who he is and the reasons behind why he does the things he does… sorry for the vagueness but #NoSpoilersHere…
Secondly the humour that fills the book..the banter between Bane and his family members was brilliantly crafted… I’m mean come on… ‘Gods those two shits were squeezed from the same arsehole’….( and it’s context ) is probably the best line in a book EVER!!! Bane’s narrative was both funny, peppered with vulgarity and emotionally priceless…he is defiantly my kinda guy! The connection between Bane and his heroine, Maude..was beautiful and sweet and hot and spicy. Just bloody fantastic!
Thirdly…and by no means lastly.. the uniqueness of the story arc that is contained in this series is one that is well thought out, original and continues to develop and grow and equally blow my mind with each book that this author releases.
There is a lot revealed in this book , consider my socks blown off! Because I was not expecting the ‘big reveal’ equal parts stunned and shocked and mind blown…this was an unputdownable read and i am so so so so looking forward to the next instalment! Bravo author…You Rawk
*WARNING* contains explicit sexual content
I was a little confused in the beginning with all of the odd names, but once I got that sorted it was all good. I also think the female lead is to naive. I have to say, I the Bane character. Bane is funny, strong, protective, but underneath all of the bravado is feelings of being unworthy and insecure. Gummy was a surprise and my favorite character of the book. I think this quite different from Thanemonger (book 1) because this one has a lot more “funny” to it. Well written. Great characters. Never a dull moment.
This is the second book in The Ladyships series. Since I didn’t read the first book, I was a little bit lost at first with the characters and concepts mentioned but it all was made clearer as the story moved on. Nevertheless, perhaps it’s best to read the first book to know the background (I’ll be certainly reading it).
I won’t describe the plot, just say that I loved the main characters but not from the beginning…I thought the heroine to be the typical vapid “good” person, too good to be believable and sooo gullible, and the hero was totally crazy. But the author did surprise me with the complexity of the characters, they had many layers to them. Maude is underestimated in her compassion and it is actually her true strength, compassion and empathy, and I ended up loving her view of the world and her understanding of people. Therion has become one of my favorite heros; he’s also underestimated by everyone as they think he’s got no loyalty and nobody takes him seriously. He’s crude, crass, unpredictable, totally hilarious, but all that is a mask that covers an unbreakable loyalty to his house, his family…He kept me smiling the whole time I was reading, as well as all the secondary characters (the whole Borac family won’t leave you indifferent).
The story line about the athelas and technopaths was engrossing and I’d love to know more about that, in fact it grows more complex the more you read, so it will make you want to read the next book in the series…I hope it’s about the Culler, my goodness, I loved that one!
So, I highly recommend this book if you enjoy science fiction, an intelligent plot but you fancy something lighter to cheer you up.

Therion is the Bane of Borac – you get little glimpses in Thanemonger that all is not as it seems with him. He’s good at putting on a facade…..the fool, the drunk, the man who visits sex droids……..all isn’t as it seems. By the end of book one I needed his story, badly!!
This one shows us the real Therion, yes he cusses like a little potty mouthed fiend, yes he’s not always the most honest person but all this is for a reason…….you’ll have to wait and see, just like Maude did. She’s almost too good to be true at first but then you see she’s one of those rare people…….truly nice and caring, way underestimated by people all the time.
This one builds more of this amazing world, I’ve decided I don’t have a clue what’s going to happen next…..one reason I’m really enjoying these.
They’re different, fresh and the characters have made me feel like I know them. Ran is one day going to get a story…….once he grows up anyway!
I giggled like an idiot reading this one. Therion is an absolute kick who swears worse than a sailor and could be certifiably insane. Maude, on the other hand, is so sweet and caring that she’s in serious trouble all alone in a alien world. Lucky for her, Therion is right there with her along with her personal guardian angel (kind of). Plenty of action and lots of humor keeps the pages turning and the reader finds that there may be more to Therion and Maude than meets the eye. Enjoy!
Therion’s story is amazing!
The façade Therion wears leads people to disregard him, thinking he’s a fool, spouting crazy ideas. It’s amazing what can be accomplished under that guise.
Therion is the Bane of Borac – what did he have to offer her? He doesn’t give himself credit, even though he finds Maude irresistible. Therion is such an extraordinary personality! How could anyone resist him? Not me! And certainly not Maude. Surely, a match meant to be.
The humor keeps me laughing throughout! There is one scene in which his cousin, Dius, lets Therion know he really doesn’t give a *hoot* about an outcome. The response Dius gets is classic Therion! Never fear, you’ll recognize when you see it! Every page held me in its thrall. I had ‘book-hangover’ when I finished. Other books in my TBR list paled in comparison. What’s next, Ms. McLynn?
