The Last War series is filled with multi-dimensional characters, interesting situations, and romance (my favorite!)
This is the second book of the series that I have read by Ms. Grayson. It was as entertaining as book five. The several hours I spent with Loyal and Angel so interesting. Ms. Grayson has created a place that allowed this reader to escape the day to day of 2019. I’m looking forward to finding the time to read books one through four. Very good book with fantastic lead, and supporting characters!
Loved it!
Banderos The Last War: Book Six by Sylvie Grayson
Loyal Hawker is a traveling seller of medical equipment and supplies. After an alliance was made with a member of the military, he has switched to gathering information and he has become an agent of sorts.
Angel Banderos is one of twenty-eight children and the only daughter of Gerwal Banderos. After all the medical experiments that were does in the last war and fewer woman, her life is precious. She is well protected by her father and most of her brothers.
Angels father was severely injured in a fall from his horse and she fears civil war will break out in her family between all her brothers for control of their land. Her eldest brother scares her the most because she believes he has killed one of her brothers before. Angel learns that Loyal has connections to powerful people and knowledge that may help her, and her younger brothers survive. She just needs to make him believe that her father requests a meeting with him. Loyal doesn’t quite believe her story but will use the trip for recon of their holdings, number of men, and Gerwal himself. Loyal finds himself wanting to protect her and her family but also wanting to finish the job at hand. Secret allegiances are found that could make everything crash down. Can Loyal keep her family together or will it all come crashing down by deep family secrets?
I have to say that I was a little apprehensive jumping into a series on book six. At first it was difficult, but the characters are explained and reasoning behind the story line become clear. The story smoothed out and I found myself watching a movie in my head through Sylvie Grayson’s words. Her world seemed a cross between a historical time period and Star Wars and it works! It had pieces from both, and they flowed together to create this brand-new world that is not only colorful but also imaginative.
As with the other five novels in the Last War series, the descriptive narratives of their world, and of the characters and their family groups are terrific. Each of these can be read as a Stand Alone with a HEA! However, there are so many fine characters that build upon their inter-relationships, I urge you to start with the first book and read each one successively, as I have done. I was hooked with the first story and will continue to read each subsequent novel. The love stories are each warm and satisfying without the need for graphic sex and the action is continuous from the beginning thru the end of each book. In addition to a fine story, in a differing world, with succinct writing, there are also supernatural incidences that pop up throughout the series that add just a touch of spice to the story. You will have to find these books by looking up the Author rather than the title, though I don’t know why that is, it is worth the extra effort. I received a review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my honest review
