A romantic seven-day cruise is the perfect start to bakery owner Hannah Swensen’s marriage. However, with a murder mystery heating up in Lake Eden, Minnesota, it seems the newlywed’s homecoming won’t be as sweet as anticipated . . . After an extravagant honeymoon, Hannah’s eager to settle down in Lake Eden and turn domestic daydreams into reality. But when her mother’s neighbor is discovered … neighbor is discovered murdered in the condo downstairs, reality becomes a nightmarish investigation. Victoria Bascomb, once a renowned stage actress, was active in the theater community during her brief appearance in town . . . and made throngs of enemies along the way. Did a random intruder murder the woman as police claim, or was a deadlier scheme at play? As Hannah peels through countless suspects and some new troubles of her own, solving this crime—and living to tell about it—might prove trickier than mixing up the ultimate banana cream pie . . .

I love the recipes too.
I really liked this book, but I still wouldn’t give it 5 stars. It was great, but not huge hit for me. However, when I can, I will read more from this series.
This is a stand-alone story, But I feel I should’ve read the others in the series before. Only to help with small details-thing characters bring up regarding previous stores. Like how everyone knows Hannah is investing the murder separate from the police.
I loved having recipes in the book!!
I don’t like the relationship between Ross and Hannah, and by the end, I had every reason to feel the way I did.
The “storytime” with Lisa at the Cookie Jar, that was just weird.
And how does Hannah make any money at that place?! It seems like they were giving away food all the time!
*I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I recommend this author’s books very highly. The author never disappoints.
Too many recipes, not enough book.
This was an enjoyable mystery in which the main character juggled work, family, friends, etc. I figured out who did it, but it was still entertaining. The recipes were interesting, too.
A decent cozy read with lots of recipes.
I read this book when it came out in 2017. I love this series and was so excited when Hannah had gotten married. Now tragedy has struck. Can’t wait to read the next in the series to find out what happens with Hannah’s husband.
I like cozy mysteries stories
I think the series is great and very entertaining. Occasionally the characters personalities don’t seem very realistic, but they’re still a fun read.
I liked very little about this book.
I always enjoy the latest murder mystery in Lake Eden. Hannah is a great cook and even when I figure out the whodoneit, it’s a fun read with yummy recipes and this time with an extra mystery.
just like the rest of her books good clean reading with a story to keep you guessing
One of my favorite authors. Includes great recipes, too.
Love all the characters in this series and the recipes are a great bonus.
Fun escape reading with new recipes!
Hannah and Ross spend their honeymoon on a romantic cruise. When it’s time to return to Minnesota there is excitement waiting for her. Her mother has heard and murder and seen the aftermath. The mayor’s sister has been murdered and the clues to the perpetrator are scant. Mike is quickly frustrated with the lack of movement on his case. There are a few potential suspects, but they are quickly crossed off Hannah’s list. Amid her work on this murder mystery Hannah is plagued by unexpected emotions with regards to her new husband and married life.
First, I am still in shock that Hannah randomly married Ross. I know they had a past, but Mike was a better choice. Second, I feel like the latest book in the Hannah Swensen Mystery series is on the right track. The last couple books were good, but they were missing something. This book kept my attention and despite trying to stretch it out, it was over too soon. If you are new to the series this book can stand alone, but I recommend you go back and begin with book one. And if you are a fan of the Hallmark movies that fine, but the books really are better. Read them. I can’t wait until the next book because the cliffhanger at the book really was a great hook.
I think the author tried to fix something that wasn’t broken. I hope this issue is resolved in the next books.
While I love the beginning books in this series, I don’t like the twists the author has started adding at the end of her books starting with book 16. The good twists are fine but I hated this one.
Love all her books
Joanna Fluke’s last 3 books are getting far afield. Too much boring dialogue (oh, this tastes good…blah, blah, blah), and marriage is a stretch.
