Camille Turner has returned to her home town of Rotherham to open her new business, a childrens play centre. She said she left to pursue her education but in reality she was driven away by the antics of fellow pupil Dylan Ball, whose parting shot, a photo of Camille in tight shorts, earned her the nickname Camille Toe.After swearing revenge as she left the school gates behind her, Camille is … is reunited with a now older and apologetic Dylan who wants to be friends. She’d tell him to go to Hell but he does genuinely seem sorry. Plus he’s also matured into one sexy male. It’s so unfair.
But does Dylan really want to be friends or is it all an act to embarrass her once again?
Includes a Yorkshire/British glossary to teach you some rude slang 😉

I read this book and I was glad that I did.. This book was fun to read. It has some suspense in it but lots of laughing moments. This is a very well written nice paced book. Not to long but not to short. Camille Turner is back in her hometown now an adult beginning her life. She is not at all ready to face the one person who treated her badly in high school. But things happen that changes all that. Those things make this book fun to read and very enjoyable. You meet her friend Beth and her other friend from school Jack. All of these characters together have some great chemistry. Absolutely loved what happens in this book how bad things come out good in the end. Will be reading the rest of the books that go with this one because I have a feeling those will be just as good. Highly recommend even if you just need a good laugh.
This is a lovely light read which I thought was so funny. Loved it!!
October ’19 review edit –
It has been a number of years since I read Balls and I felt a re-read was in order. I loved this book. As I stated above, I loved how light and easy it was to read and the comedy in it too! There was a long enough gap since the first time I read it to not remember the finer details in the story, which meant that I was able to enjoy the book without knowing what was coming next.
A great quick read and I’m heading straight on to the next book in the series, which is Snow Balls.
Camille and Dylan knew each other growing up but he wasn’t nice to her then, or so she thought. Dylan always loved Camille but every time he tried to show her something went wrong. Instead of telling her how he felt he ended up pushing her away. Years later they run into each other in their hometown. Will Dylan let Camille get away again or will he put everything out in the open and tell her how he truly felt? I absolutely love Ms. Long’s books. They are not only written great but are full of great characters and humor. A definite one-click!
Told from Camille’s POV this story is really cute but moving too fast for my liking.
After finishing University, Camille is moving back into her hometown with a tingling feeling in her tummy. After school she was so glad to leave everything behind especially Dylan Ball who made school life hell for her. Since he posted a picture of her in really tight shorts with the caption ‘Camille Toe’, Camille wanted nothing more than to be swallowed from earth. Now she is back and hopes to have a new start and is successful with her business. When she goes to the bank to cash in a check, she runs into Dylan Ball. The boy from school changed into a hot man but Camille can’t put the anger aside that bubbles up when seeing him because all the memories about how he made school hell for her are coming back. But when Dylan has his mind set on something he doesn’t back down that easily. He wants to show Camille that he isn’t the annoying kid from school anymore. He knows now that what he did to her as wrong, and he is sorry about it.
It’s a nice short story but moving really fast. Some parts were fun to read especially when Camille and Dylan talked and you noticed that he had a thing for her and she found him rather hot but was still mad at him for what he did to her in school. The thing with Jake and Beth and Susie was a lot of fun and the double date as well.
I think this story has a lot of potential but could have been better. Though it’s easy to say that I liked almost everything when Dylan was involved. Gg He got me wrapped around his little finger. =P
Balls by Andie M. Long a funny and witty five star read. This is the first book in the Ball game series and the first book by this author I have read, I am going to go buy everything she has ever written, Andie M. Long may well be my new favourite author and not just because she uses 2 of my favourite phrases Totty and Throat punch (Totty being a northern slang for people you lust over) My being a northerner who now lives in Wales meant that this book made me so happy!! I am literally going to gift all my friends a copy as the book comes with a handy British/Yorkshire slang guide, they may now find out what I have been saying the last 20 years!!
This book tells the story of Camille Turner who was also known as Camille Toe in school after a horrid bully Dylan Balls, nick named her it in a Facebook post with picture attached. After leaving after school, and gaining her confidence in Sixth form and Uni she returns to open a children’s play area. When she left school, she swore revenge on her Dylan but when she sees him again and he is full of apologies and very hot she starts to wonder if he is sorry, or if he is just trying to soften her up to embarrass her again. Que some very funny moments and a pussy called Bob. If you don’t read this book, then you need your head read. It’s a really funny romantic read.
Favorite Quotes:
“I’m forty-five, not dead. Even though I’ve got your dad, I still like to perve at totty.”
“For God’s sake will one of you give your mother a grandchild before she pinches one from someone else.”
“I know it’s not an excuse but in my defense, I remember nothing about the evening. Unfortunately, I was as pissed as a fart. So again, I’m very sorry.”
“‘Jack kissed you? Under the slide?’… ‘Yeah. In the dark. I’m obviously too monstrous to kiss in daylight.’”
“I realize it’s been a long time since a man went anywhere near my lady parts. The only pussy that’s had any play lately has been Bob the cat and his carrier bag.”
My Review:
I barked, snorted, and laughed aloud as I read this delightful little tale. If I could read fun and naughty little stories like this every day, I would spend the rest of my life smiling. Andie M. Long is a new find for me, and it feels like I have stumbled onto treasure. Her writing is crisp, clever, and highly entertaining. I was an instant fan and am already itching to pick up the next one in this series.
A fun, fast read. Not a lot of depth, but perfect for a lighthearted story to keep me amused. Dylan and Camille were just what I needed after a long day. Oh, and Jack’s punishment – while a bit over the top, it was great!
Balls is a short but good read. The main character Camille moves back home and starts her own business running a kid zone after talking to her best friend and realizing that parent’s with young children didn’t have a place to take their kids and hang out when the weather is rough. Shortly after moving home she runs into Dylan Ball, the boy from school who humiliated her on a regular basis. Well this is their short but sweet enemies to lovers story. I really enjoyed this novella. I enjoyed getting to meet all of the characters, especially Camille’s mom Dora and her silent but brooding dad. Definitely looking forward to reading more from this family and seeing how their fair in the future.
