It’s always exciting when someone you know (whether online or IRL) publishes a book. I was thrilled for Jasmin, who I’ve known through Instagram for ages, pubbed her first book. While rockstars aren’t my go to, I was still excited to read Baking with a Rockstar. It was a super sweet, swoony and utterly charming debut.
I love a good single parent story. That alone had me wanting to read this book, despite my overall thoughts on rockstar heroes. Charlie was a wonderful heroine and mom. Hudson wasn’t the stereotypical rockstar and I was thankful for that. Their slow burn relationship started off with a meet cute that was absolutely adorable, built into a friendship that made me smile and then a romance that made me swoon. I loved their chemistry and legit smiled my way through basically the entire book. And those scenes with Hudson and Mira, Charlie’s daughter? SWOON CITY.
Favorite Quotes:
This kiss is everything. It makes me feel alive in a way I’ve never felt before—all-consuming and powerful. It goes deeper than just a physical connection, making me drown in the overwhelming sensation of it all.
“I didn’t know what was missing from my life until you showed up. I want you so badly, I can barely think straight anymore.”
This is the first book I’ve read by Jasmin and totally hooked, so hooked I’ve just downloaded and read the bonus chapters.
This book is a single POV from the female main character Charlie.
This isn’t your average rockstar book. Hunter definitely isn’t a hardcore rocker. Hunter is more of a soulful lover. He’s down to earth, loves unconditionally and a real family man.
SOME SPOILERS
Charlie is a single mom, she loves that baby girl with her whole heart. She’s had more than her fair share of grief, let-downs and rejections to last a lifetime, so now it’s her baby Mira, her gran’s best friend and her bakery, she was never prepared for Hunter to enter the kitchen and her heart.
Hunter is upfront with her about his past, he does worry about her and Mira being in the spotlight.
Carlie has a secret from the past, she’s petrified about telling, she doesn’t want to lose him.
When the past comes to light will he still want her? Will they run towards each other or the opposite directions?
Bonus Chapters
Some key events from meeting each other to the future, 3 of which are Hudson’s POV.
Charlie and Hudson are so real and raw. So much emotion with this book. My heart broke for both of them but burst with happiness when they shared their truths. That twist, though! Ugh, I’m in tears just thinking about it! Hudson was so endearing with how he loved Charlie and little Mira. He was genuine and fiercely protective. #Swoon. I loved that we got to see their relationship bloom over time and that while what may have been insta love for one, the other needed time and rightly so. After all, the price of fame is a sacrifice depending on what side your on. Their journey was long but so worth it. I thought that epilogue was everything but the bonus content was so much more. If you loved Hudson before, your heart will melt!
Jasmin Miller is quickly becoming one of my favorite one-click authors! Her ability to grab hold of you and take you on the journey with her characters is undeniable. Her books get better and better every time and I love it! Even now after taking some time to love on these characters I still find myself smiling wistfully and maybe even giggling a little at how perfect these two are for each other.
This is my first book by this author and it wont be my last. I love the cover, The cover and title are what draw me to the book.
Baking with a Rockstar has got to be the sweetest rockstar romance I’ve ever read and I love my Rockstar books.
Charlotte (Charlie) Peterson’s life was pretty much turned upside down a year ago in New York. Her grandmother’s best friend, Hannah, came to her rescue and moved Charlie and her baby daughter, Mirabelle (Mira) to Brooksville, California where she lived, to start over. Charlie had always dreamed of starting her own bakery.
Hudson Mitchell is not your usual rock star. He doesn’t enjoy life in the public. After a nasty break up, Hudson just hasn’t been able to turn things back around. He writes his own music but the words and notes just aren’t coming. He needs to go home to Brooksville for some peace and quiet and some quality time with his family. The surprise was on him, though, when he walked into his house to find his grandmother living there along with a beautiful woman baking in his kitchen along with her adorable little baby girl.
Having her there makes his house a home with the kitchen constantly filled with delicious smells, to the love and laughter between her and her baby girl. Not only is Hudson drawn to Charlie, there is an immediate bond between he and Mira. She instantly has him wrapped around her little finger.
I hope Monica and Gabe get their own book.
I received an advance copy of this book. I am voluntarily giving my honest review, and I plan to buy this book when it becomes available.
Baking with a Rockstar by Jasmin Miller is an adorable lighthearted rom-com that you will not be able to put down. The story builds slow and keeps you in suspense waiting to see just what the backstory is behind the two main characters and whether it will pull them together or push them apart. Miller is an incredible storyteller with this standalone Brooksville Novel, and I look forward to reading the next in the series One Short Summer.
Charlie and her daughter Mirabelle have moved to Brooksville, California to start over. With the help of a family friend Charlie is going to be able to open her own bakery and everything seems to be on track until she meets Hannah’s grandson. Hudson Mitchell comes home from his glamorous life of music and fame to find a beautiful woman and adorable baby cooking in his kitchen. His grandmother didn’t mention having a house guest and there is no way Hudson is going to throw these two out. As Hudson and Charlie spend more time together, they can’t deny the chemistry they have, but Charlie has a little girl to think of. Hudson adores Mira and Charlie but doesn’t know how to have them and keep them safe and separate from his career. Charlie has a secret and wouldn’t hold it against Hudson to run back to the bright lights of L.A. once he finds it out. Will Charlie be able to continue Baking with a Rockstar once he learns her secret?
I was hooked from page one. Charlie is perfectly awkward. Hudson is perfectly perfect. Who can resist a sexy rockstar? The chemistry between them is electric and yet it is so incredible sweet and gooey.
A real heartwarming story.
I was FINALLY able to start your book a few days ago!! Which I finished, at midnight last night because I could not put it down !! I absolutely love it!! It really did have me at hello !! It was cracking me up and had me literally laughing out loud through the whole book There were so many times I kept looking at the percentage of how far I was in the book, worried as I got closer to the end!! Worried for what else was going to happen, and worried how it was going to end !! It really is a great book and I look forward to reading it again !!
I loved this book! It is a rock star romance, but not in the traditional sense. Hudson is a rock star, but we don’t see the fame, concerts, or life on tour. We do get a little paparazzi drama, but it’s not over done. I really liked that about this book. We get to see the somewhat normal side to his life. He meets Charlie and her cute little girl Mirabelle and that was it for him. There is a little drama with his ex but it is not drawn out. I loved Charlie. She is like most women with doubt and fears constantly plaguing her. Fortunately, with the help of Hudson and his amazing grandmother Hannah, she is able to move past them. Charlie suffered a tragic loss and heartbreaking betrayal within the span of a day, but she got through and is a stronger person now. I loved how Mira is written. I can see her actions as if she were in front of me. This book combines my favorite things, hot rock star who is amazing with kids, baked goods, and a happily ever after! I hope we get Gabe, Monica, Delilah, Rose and even Mira’s story!
This was such a sweet book. Hudson is the dream guy that you want to read about. Charlie is the single mom, getting ready to open a bakery in this small town she’s moved to from New York. And sweet baby Mirabelle was just the perfect addition to the book. Seeing the way the rock star treated the little cutie is probably my favorite thing about this book. I definitely recommend picking this up. Looking forward to reading more books from this new to me author.
What a beautiful book. This book is more than the title. It’s a story of trusting again and falling in love with the right person. It’s so good.
Charlie is practically starting her life over again all the way across the continent. After a horrible accident takes everyone she loves away, she ends up staying with her grandmas friend Hannah Mitchell. What she doesn’t expect is the owner of the house to be a rockstar. Even though she doesn’t recognize him, she feels something for him immediately.
Hudson Mitchell is taking a break for his rockstar career and came home to two new people who were staying in his house. As soon as he sees Charlie is whole world changes. Once he spots Mira, his heart is no longer his.
We get a sweet romance with lots of fun characters. I can’t wait for more from this author.
Highly recommended.
This is one of the sweetest love stories I have ever read. The author is a wonderful storyteller and this is such a beautiful, heartwarming romance.
It had me under its spell from beginning to end. I just loved it! It reminds me that love can conquer things if given the chance.
This book had me laughing and crying and I could not be happier with their HEA and how everything played out.
This was such a sweet first time read from a new to me author, Jasmin Miller. Rockstar and single parent romances are quickly becoming reads that I’ll gravitate towards and Baking with a Rockstar was such an adorable read.
I love a great rockstar romance and the more you read, you’ll quickly see the different personas that the hero can take. Sometimes angsty with a bit of that alpha inside of them. It definitely wasn’t the vibe that Hudson was emitting, he was such an endearing character that was literally sweet all the way around. And he’s just so smooth about everything it’s nearly impossible to not fall in love with him. Swoony for days!
Charlie is a heroine that you’ll absolutely adore, definitely a strong character that is totally rocking the single-mama life and starting her own bakery.
Everything between Hudson and Charlie just felt so natural. I liked that they easily transitioned into this sort of roommate life together and then watching their relationship grow was the absolute best.
I gotta say, after reading this, I’m definitely looking forward to anything else that Jasmin has up her sleeve. She weaved such a sweet and endearing story with some twists that’ll have your jaw on the floor. I love being surprised in my romances, I can’t say that it happens too often, but when an author can do it. I’m instantly a fan!
I appreciated that this wasn’t such a heavy read and one that I could simply enjoy in my pjs and fuzzy socks with a cup of coffee! Too much detail?
Jasmin, you have a new fan and I can’t wait for the next book in this sweet little world!

A perfectly sweet treat…
I had my own version of Baking with a Rockstar today. I love my baking days and it was a Snickerdoodles and choc chip/M&M cookies, listening to Pearl Jam and the Foo Fighters kind of day. For me, it’s a chance to shut out the world, put my headphones on and bake yummy treats. It’s a win-win in our household, my boys leave me to my baking therapy, and they get sweet treats at the end. I completely understood Charlie’s passion for baking, and I agreed with her that it’s therapeutic and relaxing.
So, Baking with a Rockstar playing in my ear definitely put me in the right zone. Now, to be honest, I don’t think I had the right Rockstar in my ear, though. I was listening to sex, drugs and rock and roll, and I was reading the sweetest Rockstar possible. I’m not saying Eddie Vedder or Dave Grohl can’t be sweet, but I honestly couldn’t picture either of them being as sweet as Hudson. I guess I expect rockstars to be a little jaded, self-absorbed and distracted.
I think there’s a fine line between perfect for each other and too perfect, bordering on unrealistic. At times I felt Hudson was a little too perfect. He was patient, kind, sweet and thoughtful towards Charlie and Mira. There seemed to be no hesitation whatsoever when it came to accepting that Mira was Charlie’s focus. He stepped up to the plate so quickly when it came to caring for Mira and including her in Charlie and his future, I couldn’t help but question it. It was all just a little too easy and “happy families” too quickly.
For the first half of Baking with a Rockstar, I know I was pulling a sour lemon face and my eyes may have rolled a time or two. Frankly, I’m a wee bit disappointed in myself. I pegged it all wrong by judging Charlie in an unfair way. I was convinced I knew all about her and judged her for being a silly, irresponsible and naïve woman. I had a bit of a WOW moment that made me stop reading and reflect on my narrow-minded and judgemental ways. This significant moment when a few things were explained, changed the whole book for me. I couldn’t help but look at Charlie differently and the twist in my reading journey made me enjoy the story even more.
This is not an overly steamy book and I was even starting to think it was going to be a clean, slam the bedroom door in my face (THE HORROR!!!) kind of story. There is an intimate scene or two, but they were tame and took a long time to get there. What was lacking in steam was made up for with sweet gestures, thoughtfulness and consideration. Hudson was all about the romantic gestures, affectionate kisses and the connection. It was very sweet.
If you’re a fan of stories with a single-parent finding love or looking for the sweetest Rockstar in history, I highly suggest giving it a try. I enjoyed reading Baking with a Rockstar and I look forward to reading more from Jasmin Miller in the future.
Stacey is Sassy, received an advanced copy of this story. The copy provided is not the final copy and may be subject to edits and changes.
This book pulled me in and kept me entranced till the end. The feelings of love, hate, and pain coming out in waves making you want to cry while you read. This was such a beautiful book! I loved the characters’ wholesomeness!

Sweet, sexy & romantic!
Charlie’s good for nothing fiance left her along with her infant daughter Mira. Deciding she needs a fresh start, she heads to California to live with her late grandma’s best friend. There she plans to fulfill her lifelong dream of running her own bakery.
Hudson is a famous rock star, but he’s grown tired of the spotlight. Needing a break and some new inspiration, he decides to head back home. There he meets Charlie and the connection is immediate. The sparks begin to fly and feelings soon develop, but will the past come back to haunt them?
I love a good rock star romance, but this one was nothing like I was expecting it to be. There was no typical bad boy rocker. Just a sweet and caring guy that we know is in a band. The relationship he had with the female lead was a bit rushed for me. They go from meeting to living together to falling in love all within a short span of time. I wish there had been more of a build up there. Also, there was little to no angst and the dramatic scenes, such as with the exes, were cut short. I would have liked a little more detail. A little more excitement. This story is more of a small town insta-love romance, but nonetheless, a very charming and entertaining read.

This is not your typical Rockstar story. Don’t get me wrong, there is rockstar drama, but this is more about coming home and finding yourself again after losing who you are. Baking With A Rockstar by Jasmin Miller is more than your rockstar character and single mom. Heartwarming, funny with a bit of drama, this book is about family and finding that person for you in the most unexpected of ways.
The writing style of this story is fantastic! You just breeze right through the pages. The lightness of the story gives you all the feels. The first person narrative in this book gives you that closeness to the feelings of these characters.
Charlie has taken an offer she can’t refuse and moves across the country with her daughter to a small town in California. While working on being a single mom and starting her own bakery business, she tries to mend and pick up her broken pieces and find herself again.
Hudson is the rockstar of all rockstars and everyone wants a piece of him. Returning home is just what he needs to get his head back on straight. But when he gets home, the quietness he is looking for is not there BUT it may be just what he needs.
Another thing I just love about this book is the secondary characters. They are amazing and I hope we will get to see and meet them again in their own stories.
But can they survive moments like this (yes, it had me laughing out loud)
“I look down at my now empty hands in utter shock before slowly looking back up to take in the crime scene I just created.
The big ball of dough I just threw-without any conscious thought of it landed square in his face.”
OMG, I just died laughing again!!!!
The characters chemistry throughout this story is just wonderfully put together.
I did not want to put this book down, even for a cup of coffee. It was such a lovely and heartwarming story. And absolutely riveting. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book in exchange for a free copy.
What a wonderful feel good story! I really liked this story as well as the characters. Hudson and Charlie are great together proving opposites attract. What a fun story! A rock star who needs a break and a baker who needs a change who meet in a fun way. I really enjoyed everything about this story and loved the ending!
Baking with a Rockstar is by far the sweetest book I have read. Charlie moves to a new town with a baby in tow to open a bakery. A lifelong dream of hers. She moves in with Hannah who is a friend of her grandmother who long since passed away. Hannah didn’t tell her much about the house she was going to be living in til she got her bakery up and going and she definitely didn’t tell her who it belongs to. Hannah’s kitchen at her house is being remodeled, so that’s why she’s there. Charlie almost got married but she had Mira the baby so they were a package deal. Her fiancé called off the wedding. He wasn’t ready for an instant family. Charlie loved to bake when she was stressed and didn’t expect a rockstar to walk into her life. Hudson owned the house and told her she could stay under one condition. A condition she didn’t really understand. So she stayed. Hudson had an ex who he almost married, but he found out she didn’t want kids and we’ll that was the end of that. Hudson loved kids and him and Mira hit it off instantly. Charlie had a deeper secret that she wants to tell Hudson. Will Hudson still want her after she tells him the truth? Will they ever have a life together with him being a rockstar and always on the road? I loved this book.
If you like slow burn stories, this is the book for you. I totally enjoyed the romance between Charlie and Hudson. The characters were wonderfully developed and I fell in love with them all. I truly hope this is the beginning of a series. Highly recommend.
