Have you had the pleasure of reading a book by Aurora Rose Reynolds? I have to admit that this is the FIRST book by the author, and I am hooked!! Gaston and Chrissie are quite the matchup! This duo exudes charm, witty banter, and an adorable connection of the heart. Baiting Him was a charming read that left me wanting to dive into more from this author!!
Baiting Him was a good, easy to read, insta-love story. It was just the story I needed to read, light banter that made me smile and laugh, little angst, and not alot of drama. The characters are so sweet together. Chrissie works hard at her bakery, she puts others before herself, and Gaston was just the man to see to her needs. I liked that past characters from previous books were in the story. Looking forward to the third book in the series.
I received this from Netgalley.
Wonderful addition to the How to Catch an Alpha series! Aurora Rose Reynolds does sexy and fun SO well!
Baiting Him by Aurora Rose Reynolds is book 2 in the How to Catch an Alpha series. This is Gaston and Chrissie’s story.
This is such a sweet, funny and a great insta-love romance read!!!
Chrissie has started a new bakery in town trying to start anew but things start happening from her past. Gaston/Gus owns bars in the area and he ends up meeting Chrissie in his bar. His eye catches on her and never lets up. Their chemistry is sizzling. I loved the feels, the plot, the humor, and the sweet moments. I enjoyed reading this story alot. I loved the insta-love story tons. There are just a few things that I wish would have been explained/resolved but overall, phenomenal read. I can’t wait for book 3 in this series.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *******
I really enjoyed this one. I’m a sucker for a book with a character that is a baker. Chrissie sounds like someone I would like to work for. Gaston is yummy. Plus you can’t go wrong with a guy who like animals. This shows how sometimes the relationship with our parents is a difficult one, but it’s never too late. It was nice to catch up with the characters from the first book. The epilogue in this one is everything. It made me one very happy reader. It’s a sweet story with heat that will instantly have you sucked right in. I also loved the touch of humor in this book. It’s one enjoyable read.
I am really struggling on how to review this book. I feel like just the fact Aurora Rose Reynolds wrote it should be enough said. But I guess I mean Aurora is one of my top auto buy authors and I love her writing. I love going in knowing the type of hero I’m going to get. And knowing I am going to be happy with the outcome.
Chrissie was sweet and loving and I was a big fan of hers from the start. She knew who she was and what she wanted and I liked that when she first met Gaston she didn’t fall all over herself to get his attention.
Gaston was everything I love about the author. He is sexy but not a manwhore, driven but doesn’t put his work before his friends and family. But mostly he knows who he wants and goes all out to win her over and convince her she’s it for him.
Together they were so cute and the chemistry was scorching hot. Their relationship developed quickly but it still felt natural and I was right there the whole time with them. There was really minimal drama and the whole book was just one big warm fuzzy.
A great read for a lazy afternoon
Club owner Gaston is in shock after meeting a woman who seems to want nothing to do with him. Annoyed that his charm & good looks didn’t effect her like other women, Gaston goes out of his way for a date with her.
Even though bakery owner Chrissie felt the instant attraction to smooth-talking Gaston, the last thing she needs is to be another notch on his belt. When he buys her flowers and won’t leave her alone, she finally agrees to go out with him. With Chrissie dealing with a lot of personal and family issues, Gaston continues to prove she can count on him.
This is a sweet story of two people who fall for each other hard. Gaston and Chrissie are adorable together, and loved seeing more of Leah & Tyler from the first book. Another great read from this author!
Loving the continuation of this series! This author continues to amuse me with these characters and their storylines – cue Gaston and his puppy Lefou! Chrissie and Gaston meet and she’s the first woman to not fall all over him, and it intrigues him enough to track her down and seek her out to attempt to get to know each other better. Hesitant at first, Chrissie finally lets her walls down and they eventually embark on a relationship that lasts a lifetime. I love that this storyline focuses on their time as a couple while handling difficult things that typically happen within a relationship and have them work through them. That alone makes this book somewhat more realistic than others. As always I love Aurora’s storylines combined with her characters, and while this one didn’t have any suspense or crazy aspects of it, it was just as enjoyable as the others! Can’t wait for the next installment in this series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Baiting Him is the second title in the How to Catch an Alpha series. If you are after an enjoyable, sweet and low angst read this is the book for you.
Chrissie the heroine is hardworking, sweet, kind and caring, and tries to take care of those around her to the detriment of herself.
Gaston ‘Gus’ is an alpha but he’s also sweet, kind and caring and a gentleman as well.
The chemistry this pair shares is undeniable and I enjoyed seeing the couple from the first title appear within this storyline. I look forward to future additions to this series.
You know what they say about great expectations, right? Well, I don’t know what they say, but I know that going into a book with them is a risk. In this case, after reading the blurb for Baiting Him -and having read my fair share of ARR’s books- I was definitely expecting something else.
We get the usual set up (which I don’t mind in the least) where the hunky and successful Gaston lays eyes on the sweet and wonderful Chrissy and after talking to her he knows she’s it for him.
Gaston was set on pursuing Chrissy, and even though he was all possessive and protective I found the fact that he kept “giving her time” to acclimate to the idea of them as a couple quite weird. I mean, I was expecting OTT-warp-speed.
I found Chrissy very hard to connect to. I felt her issues were out of proportion to her reality, making her border on dramatic to me. I’m not a big fan of dramatics, and her daddy issues drove me to violence, I mean you’re an adult, deal with the divorce! Ok, so it was a bit more complicated than that, but sheesh!
We still get the romance, and the sexiness and the “I want you in my house” stuff I love so much about these books, but the “danger” aspect fell completely flat for me. It felt forced and ended up detracting from the storyline rather than adding more depth to the plot.
While not my favorite book by the author, I still had fun and enjoyed my time with these characters. Will Baiting Him go to my re-read list? Nope. But I still love Ms. Reynolds’s books and I will continue to read her romances.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book*
I am pretty sure I love Chrissie and Gaston a little more than Leah and Tyler. Well first, the fact that his name is Gaston and he has a dog named LeFou, and he is an alien from outer space (not really, so don’t freak thinking this is a sci-fi lol).
Gaston was smitten from the beginning and did what he could t convince Chrissie that they should see where things go. I love how he was there right there from the beginning and never let up with his pursuit. He dropped everything to be there when she needed him and was just what Chrissie needed in her life.
Chrissie is a workaholic who had her whole life’s perception twisted not too long ago. When life throws you the curveball it threw her, things tend to get skewed and Chrissie just needed someone to help her see it. I love Gaston and Chrissie’s banter.
I loved this quick, funny, sweet book and the characters in it.
Baiting or teasing…
Lol. The meet cute for these two has me sporting a big asz grin! How many people can you say meet this way!?! Also their conversation following that meeting already set up for complete and total swoon. I was an easy lure.
With a man like Gaston, I can’t imagine it being possible to fight that pull. Utterly devastating in the looks department and 100% wonderful in personality, I am surprised our Prince Charming wasnt already tied down.
4 Stars!
Chrissie owns a successful bakery called the Sweet Spot that keeps her very busy. She hardly has time to date, and hasn’t made it a priority since her business takes up all her time and attention. Then she meets the insanely gorgeous and persistent club owner Gaston and everything changes. She goes from not being interested in a relationship, to giving him a chance as he relentlessly pursues her.
Gaston is used to usually getting what he wants, but then he crosses paths with Chrissie who at first doesn’t seem that interested in what he has to offer. He’s intrigued, and wants the chance to get to know her better. From the moment they met, there’s just something different about her, and he won’t give up. He loves her laugh, and how she smells like cupcakes. She’s absolutely stunning, and he wants her to be his. He is up for the challenge, and prepared to convince her he’s worth her time.
Baiting Him (How to Catch an Alpha #2) by Aurora Rose Reynolds is a fun, flirty, sexy romance full of humor and chemistry. I really enjoyed this story, and love Aurora’s writing! I hope we get more books in this series!
Baiting Him is book two in the funny, steamy and highly addictive How to Catch an Alpha series from the amazingly talented Aurora Rose Reynolds! It’s a must read for all romance lovers who are looking for a great, unputdownable story with endearing characters that will make you swoon. I just love how Aurora’s books give me all the warm and cozy feelings I crave when I need to escape reality. This is exactly the reason why she’s been my go to author for years. Nobody writes Happily Ever Alpha romance better than her!
What I loved most about Baiting Him is the fact that it was about two people finding true love in their early thirties. Thank God there was no unnecessary drama! Both were mature, didn’t beat around the bush and knew exactly what they wanted. It was very refreshing. Although both come from parents whose relationships didn’t work out, they both still believed in finding their soul mate and starting families on their own.
Chrissie is the owner of a thriving bakery called the Sweet Spot. She’s living her dream and working hard. She has no time for a relationship and frankly speaking, life has taught her that guys are not really worth the trouble. Too bad she unexpectedly catches the attention of the gorgeous and irresistible Gaston, the owner of the club where they celebrate her best friend Leah’s bachelorette party.
From the moment he meets Chrissie, Gaston knows that this sassy, sweet woman who makes him laugh is the one for him. It doesn’t hurt that she smells like cupcakes and has sinful curves that make his blood boil. Knowing that nothing good comes easily, he’s determined to fight for her heart. Can he convince the beauty who’s too busy to fall in love to give him a chance?
Gaston and Chrissie were perfect together! Their scorching chemistry was palpable on every page. I loved how they easily fit into each other’s lives. Both had demanding careers but still managed to find time for each other and make their relationship work. Chrissie filled Gaston’s life with cookies, laughter and happiness while he made her feel cherished and safe.
Gaston is definitely one of the most amazing heroes Aurora has ever written. He was protective, understanding and a true gentleman. He supported Chrissie and her career, offering his help along the way. Who wouldn’t fall in love with guy who looks hot, is a fabulous cook and great in bed?
Chrissie was a marvelous heroine. I loved how sweet, loving and loyal she was! I admired her work ethics and really wanted her to find happiness. A kind hearted woman like her deserved a great man like Gaston to love and protect her.
Thank you dear Aurora for giving us another perfectly written book in the How to Catch an Alpha series! You truly never cease to amaze me with your beautiful stories that still make me believe in true love. I will never get enough of them! 5 stars
I haven’t yet read the first one in this series but I find it’s not necessary as you can read this as a standalone. This is the story of Leah’s best friend Chrissie and Gaston. An enjoyable read with a lot of cute moments but also heartwarming scenes that will have you swooning 🙂
Chrissie has her own bakery that has grown over the years and is very succesful but it leaves her with not a lot of time for herself. Seeing her best friend now married and happy, she wonders if life isn’t slowly passing her by. When she first meets Gaston, they get off on the wrong foot but Gaston is determined to win her over. The more time they spend together, the more their bond seems to grow and their relationship is changing. It’s not long before they both realise that their feels have evolved in something more. Will they get the happy ending they both deserve?…
LOVED! I am so in love with this series! Gaston and Chrissie’s story was so adorable! I love ARR’s alpha men, but it’s her spunky women that win me over every time! Baiting Him is another FIVE STAR READ from ARR!
I really enjoyed this sweet and steamy story! The ending had me dropping tears. A well told story with all the feels! ARR’s great sense of humor comes out to play in this book. Along with her ability to create characters with quick wit and entertaining bantering dialogues that kept me thoroughly captivated. Baiting Him is a must read.
I love insta love romances and really enjoyed this one. Chrissie and Gaston were great together, this was the perfect read for a winters day a really lovely feel good romance, I loved it

3.75-4 stars. Baiting Him was a really cute, feel good read. This is Gaston/Gus and Chrissie’s story. They meet when she attends a bachelorette celebration at the bar he owns. He is smitten immediately, while she is a little wary. But he won’t let her get away for long. As they get to know each other, they find they are a perfect match.
Gus and Chrissie’s story was ARR at her sweetest. Gus was the swoony, perfect guy and Chrissie was cute and quirky. I really liked them both. Their story is instalove, super sweet, low angst, sexy and fun. Gus does the chasing, even though the book is titled Baiting Him. There is no big problems or fights or anything either, which I love.
Overall, this was a fun, easy read with a good story. I enjoyed this book a lot! I look forward to more from this series and Ms. Reynolds in the future.
I went through a plethora of emotions with this but the most important one, and you’ll understand why after you read it, is Happiness. That’s the underlying message that Aurora Rose Reynolds gives out in this book. During the process of finding happiness however, I laughed, I cried, I was aroused and frustrated. Through it all though, I was left with a big smile on my face. I loved Gaston and the way he knows who Chrissie is to him and he doesn’t relent.
