Baiting Him is book #2 in the How to Catch an Alpha series. Aurora Rose Reynolds (ARR) brings us a fresh, fun and sexy story filled with alpha males, strong independent females and lots of romance! Tyler and Leah stole my heart in Catching Him, but look out! Because Gaston – yes, I said Gaston- and Chrissie have taken over!
Chrissie was introduced in Catching Him as Leah’s best friend. She is sweet, quirky, and caring. She owns “The Sweet Spot” bakery. Chrissie meets nightclub owner Gaston (Gus) at Leah’s bachelorette party. What ensues is sweet, fun, sexy and romantic! Filled with insta-lust and insta-love! Baiting Him is ARR at her finest!
“Did you just say your name is Gaston?”
“Yeah”
“Oh my God,” I whisper, horrified. “You’re like the worst villain ever.”
Gaston is the perfect alpha! Charming, considerate and smoking hot! His tenderness and love for Chrissie is swoony and romantic! Of course there is a bit of drama, but nothing over the top. The story flows and filled my heart with warmth. A great pick me up when you want to sit and get lost in a book!
“No one looks like Gaston. No one cooks like Gaston. No one refuses to read a book like Gaston,” I sing.”

I am loving this “How to Catch an Alpha” series. These books aren’t crazy with angst, but rather they are light-hearted, fun, and play around with all the sterotypes that follow alpha romance novels.
I thought that Chrissie and Gaston were so cute, especially at the beginning when she basically told him to leave her alone. There was more to this story than just love, but it didn’t get me too far into my feels and kept me laughing at every turn. The writing in this series is the perfect blend of being sort of ironic in noting the sterotypes used to “catch an alpha,” but at the same time creating a perfectly lovable story.
I can’t wait for the next.
ARR has done it again!!! I don’t know how she keeps coming up with all these wonderful amazing books!!! And the Alphas name Gaston oh I loved it especially when his dog came in the picture!!!! And I was so happy this was Chrissie book. Part of this book absolutely broke my heart. But other parts made me swoon, made me laugh and made me just overall happy. And I would highly highly recommend this book or any book by Aurora!!! -By Tina
Loved, loved, loved!! Baiting Him was a fantastic following up in the How to Catch an Alpha series. Aurora Rose Reynolds has a knack for making me swoon. It’s so easy to fall in love with her heroes. They’re so strong, yet gentle and so dang sweet and caring. I can’t help but give the bf a serious side eye because he’s not even close. Ugh! Book boyfriends are so freaking perfect. Why can’t I have one in real life??
Gaston *le sigh*. Not only is his name from my FAVORITE Disney story but the guy was everything. His and Chrissie’s story was an insta-love of epic proportions. The guy knew she was the one from the moment he laid eyes on her and every bit of her quirky, awkwardness made him fall in love with her even more.
Chrissie represented most women out there. Content with life until a sexy guy shows up demanding to know why you haven’t called and wondering what universe you stepped into because he’s too hot to be interested. I know I’d be a bit shocked if I were in her shoes. But their chemistry was perfect. Instantly they were at ease with each other. The comfortable silences, the heat between the sheets and his ability to read her so easily. They were a perfect match.
This book was a total swoon-fest!!!
When Gaston sees Chrissie, he sets about claiming her. She’s not exactly feeling it, though, because she knows exactly the kind of guy flirty Gus is. But somehow he’s so sweet along with being alpha, and he wears her down. Now what’s going to happen to the baker and the club owner? Well, what happens is a whole lot of sexy and sweet with a side of possessive (but not overly so) alpha thrown in for good measure (hence the series name).
I loved this installment of the series. Gus and Chrissie are the cutest couple. There’s not a ton of angst thank God, but lots of steamy goodness and more than enough sweetness to satisfy anyone.
I loved how Gaston knew what he wanted and didn’t hesitate to go after it. The first time they met was super cute, and I loved how surprised Chrissie was when she found out Gaston told his mom about it. Also, The Sweet Spot is such a brilliant name for a bakery!
This was my first book by Aurora Rose Reynolds and I absolutely loved it!
Chrissie is out with her friends when she unexpectedly runs into the gorgeous Gaston. The two talk and tease, but Chrissie isn’t ready for anything serious. She has her bakery and she’s dealing with some family issues, so she’s happy where she is and doesn’t need a man. Gaston has other plans. He can’t seem to get Chrissie off his mind and after spending her flowers but not hearing back from her, he decides to go after her is the only way to go.
The two find out they live in the same building and before long the two are inseparable. As the two start to navigate their relationship, Gaston starts to have issues at his clubs while Chrissie is having problems with her own family.
A touch of instalove thrown in while a little mystery made this book a fun, light and sexy read. I most definitely will be going back and reading the first book in the series (which this book can be read as a standalone) and will most certainly be adding more of Ms. Reynolds to my TBR list.
I loved this book! Chrissie and Gaston are just perfect for each other. A cute busy baker who doesn’t have time on her hands meets this hot club owning workaholic and the two of them have this instant attraction. There’s a few things they have to go through but it makes it all worth it with a guaranteed HEA and the biggest smile on your face when it’s over. Highly recommend another 5 star read from the amazingly talented Aurora Rose Reynolds!
One of the worst things an author can do, in my opinion, is to have a series and have the books pretty much carbon copies of each other.
In this case, Baiting Him is almost an exact copy of the first in this series, Catching Him. Just throw in some different character occupations and reverse the roles of a woman wanting Gaston.
There was nothing that really kept my interest in the book, hence why a book that’s less than 200 pages took me more than 2 days to read. I kept putting it down to read something else that caught my eye and then I would go back to this one. I wasn’t so on the “daddy” issues that Chrissie seems to have throughout the book. She complains that she’s an adult and could’ve handled her dad and his other woman like one had he given her the chance, but yet the first time she sees them out together she goes running to throw a temper tantrum in her car.
The other woman that wants Gaston? Please don’t make me laugh. This whole thing was solved within 2 pages and the author waited until the last chapter to bring her issues about. I’m not sure how the author gets that this other woman will do whatever it takes to catch Gaston because all she did was take his liquor to sell herself and make more money…that’s literally it…oh well then tried to drug Chrissie without success, but this is the part where everything is literally solved within a page.
Will I be reading the 3rd book in this series??? Who knows. I’m just glad I got this through KU and didn’t have to spend any money on these or I’d be sorely disappointed.
Baiting Him is book 2 in the How to Catch an Alpha Series, it can certainly be read as a stand-alone but I’m sure after reading this entertaining enjoyable insta-love story you will want to read the first book Catching Him. This book ticked all my boxes, I swooned, I smiled and I loved the characters.
We met Cassie in book 1 she is the owner of of The Sweet Spot bakery, the bakery keeps her busy and she has no time for dates or relationships but that’s about to change because she can’t get Gaston the extremely hot club owner out of her mind and the fact he is persistent in wooing her has her thinking maybe it’s time to give love one more chance…..
Gaston is a man who used to getting what he wants and even though he struggles to understand why Cassie is fighting his advances he still treats her with respect but respect doesn’t mean he will give up on making her see how good they would be together……
If you want a fun entertaining read with characters you will love then this is a must read. I’m loving everything about this series and can’t wait for the next book in the series.
WOW WOW WOW. I am normally so bad at remembering to review but I couldn’t NOT review this book. It was just everything. Strong heroine, alpha but super respectful hero, minimal drama and a great story line. Plus a beauty and the beast reference! I mean what could be better?! Chrissie and Gaston are absolute couple goals and I am so obsessed with the book. One of the best books I’ve ever read!
I love everything Aurora Rose Reynolds writes and was excited to read her newest book Baiting Him. What I love about her books, which have a Kristen Ashley feel to them, are her protective alpha males. This is another wonderful story that is emotional, sexy and fun with a charming hero that I fell in love with, right along with the story.
When Chrissie meets Gaston she has a hard time believing she can trust him. Gaston is different from every guy Chrissie has dated and he seems too good to be true. He is annoyingly protective, caring, thoughtful and charming.
Gaston and Chrissie are immediately attracted to each other and make a great couple. I enjoyed all the interactions between these two characters as they meet, fall in love and have a relationship. Chrissie owns a bakery and she is sweet and hardworking. Gaston owns a couple nightclubs and when he meets Chrissie, he knows she is the one for him. Gaston is handsome and can have any woman he wants, but he only wants Chrissie. I enjoyed this delightful, seductive story.
Baiting Him was a light, easy, steamy read that captivated me right from the start. Gaston was a swoon-worthy hero that took charge, knew what he wanted and didn’t play games. Making him the perfect complement to Chrissie. This story has definitely made its way onto my favorite list. I enjoyed it so much I see a re-read in my near future.
A serious book slump has seen me off of “contemporary” for awhile and concentrating on MC, PNR and Mafia; I couldn’t seem to get into the books. I think this has broken my slump.
Loved the lack of angst, the well paced storyline and amazing characters.
Chrissie’s life is basically in her bakery. When she needs a day off, her mom covers for her, but other than that, you will find her in her bakery. When she ventures out for her best friend Leah’s bachelorette party, she ends up catching the eye of the owner, Gaston. Leary from her parents failed marriage, Chrissie is not really excited about having that fact, but Gaston doesn’t let that stop him, he is determined that they have a chance to have a relationship. Will Chrissie give Gaston a chance?
This was so good! This was the absolute perfect Sunday afternoon read, some drama, some amazing naughty bits and some insta-love with an alpha male, what more could a girl ask for! I give this 5 stars.
First of all, Gaston is the perfect man! He’s gorgeous, caring, understanding and can cook. He is totally swoon worthy. Chrissie doesn’t have time for men. She owns a bakery and is always working. After catching Gaston’s attention at his club, Twilight, he can’t get the woman who is sassy and made him laugh off his mind. Chrissie finally gives him a chance and things move pretty quickly. It was easy to fall in love with them as they fell in love with each other.
A low drama, fast paced story that is full of heat and love.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
This was a great book !
Chrissie does not have time for guys.
Gaston wants to take a bite out of Chrissie.
Let the wooing begin!
Loved the characters + the storytelling !
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
This one was just plain fun with lots of sexy times added in to keep it moving along. It starts off with Chrissie celebrating at Leah’s bachelorette party where she meets the club owner Gaston. He is yummy, too yummy for his own good and she tells him to leave her alone which he does not do and sends her flowers with his number. No, she does not call which really does not go over well but thankfully he is persistent and when they do finally get together find out they live in the same building. Convenient! These two do not do anything in a normal pace and it is full steam ahead which is the only pace Gaston works which is great because they are perfect together. Family drama and work drama all go together until they get everything settled and happily ever after is on the horizon. I definitely love this series and cannot wait to see what is next up!
Aurora Rose Reynolds has done it again, she never disappoints and her books keep getting better. This is the second book in the series and can be read standalone but I wouldn’t because they are both as beautiful as each other. You get to meet Chrissie and get to know her more. If you had read the first book you would know her as Leahs best friend. chrissie meets club owner Gaston while she uses the men’s toilet and from that instant the chemistry is oozing out of the pagers. They both feel it but it is up to Gaston to prove that he isn’t just any other man but the man for her. I absolutely loved it and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to put it down which I didn’t. if you want a fast passed, insta love and heart melting story this is it. Five stars plus.
I absolutely adored this latest book in the How To Catch An Alpha series!!! Chrissie doesn’t have time for anything let alone a relationship. She is consumed with her bakery and what little time she has left is helping her mom through a rough patch. So when she meets Gaston she doesn’t think much about it except for the fact that he is hot. Gaston is persistent and knows that she is someone special and wants to explore their connection. Their chemistry is off the charts and Chrissie knows that Gaston is someone special but can she depend on him when others have let her down.
I was hooked from the first page and hated to see it end. I swooned, cried a bit, laughed and was rooting for them throughout. Their connection was instanteous and the heart knows what the heart wants and Gaston knew that Chrissie was it for him. I loved this book so much and I highly recommend it to all. I can’t wait to read what this talented author comes out with next. Well done!!!
