Something’s going down at the mall, and it’s definitely not the price of the Vans on Maisey’s wishlist.
Sixteen-year-old Maisey’s first task as Lead Sales Associate at the accessory store seems simple enough: take down the Christmas decorations. But, when one of the display bags topples over, dumping a full set of human bones on a customer, she fears that task could be her last.
Chaos abounds … could be her last.
Chaos abounds at the Valley Mall, as police bungle the investigation and word gets around town—much to the dismay of the mall’s Media Relations Director, who also happens to be Maisey’s mom.
If Maisey wants to save her job—and her mom’s—she’ll have to shift her focus from price tags to toe tags to figure out who the skeleton belongs to and why the stockroom became its final resting place.
Tag along with Maisey and her mom, Emily(Ali’s co-worker and confidant from the first four books in the Press Pass Mystery Series) as they navigate the inner workings of the local mall. A whole family of geeks and nerds that are super cool! The way they solved this mystery was beyond impressive. Maisy is an extremely smart and level headed teen. She kept her cool even when everything around her was chaos. I don’t know how I would have acted in her situation, but I know it wouldn’t have been as well as she did. I really liked the characters. Their interactions were real, especially with how siblings behave. Having Aunt Ali visit was a great way to spinoff the series from her own story. I’m looking forward to more!

Maisey was given the Lead Sales Associate at an accessory store In the Valley Mall. She is mature for sixteen and looking forward to her new role. Maisey is given a long checklist of things to do and it seems simple enough, that is until a bag of human bones lands on a customer. All of a sudden she is being questioned by the police and unsure how this is all going to turn out.
This is a young adult cozy mystery and is the first book in the Mystery at the Mall series. The characters are well developed, interesting and engaging. The story is told from Maisey’s point of view, allowing insight into her thoughts, feelings, motivations and actions. I enjoyed the fact that physical bullying and cyber bullying were included as part of the storyline and handled very well. The mystery was interesting and original as was the way they went about trying to solve it. I found this a fun, light read with interesting characters and touching on some deep subjects. I believe this is going to become a great series.

Reminds of Encyclopedia Brown and Nancy Drew for young people, but a little more depth to it.
Cute mystery. My understanding written for the younger than me people , but fun for anyone to read. Can easily be read in a sitting.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
Sorry for lateness of review. The original seems to have been lost.
Great book
Bag of Bones centers around Emily’s daughter, Maisey, and an incident at the store where she works. A display falls on top of an already obnoxious customer. When the customer escalates her wrath toward Maisey for the incident, it seems the mystery of the skeleton inexplicably becomes a second place focus. Maisey wants to be more like Ali in finding the truth, especially since her Mom’s job and her own are both in jeopardy. I enjoyed reading this story and although it was different that the other Press Pass novels, will be an upbeat series.

Maisey Loukas is working at Valley Mall in the accessory store. Her task of taking down the Christmas decorations seems easy enough – at least until one of the display bags falls over on a customer and real human bones fall out! With suspicion falling on Maisey, she will need to quickly track down what is going on or she and her Media Relations Director mom may be looking for new jobs since the rumors are already spreading! Who owns the skeleton of real bones? And why was it deposited in the store’s stockroom?
This is a fun cozy mystery with likable characters and a story line that flows well to keep the reader entertained while trying to figure out the mystery. Would someone be out to ruin the store’s reputation? Or was there some other nefarious purpose for a skeleton’s alarming presence? Grab your copy and find the answer!
As a fan of theAli Loukas/ Ali McGuire mysteries, it’s fun to see the next generation of intrepid detectives and sleuths at work, along with new technology
The social media brings trouble, resources and triumphs, and the offspring of Ali and her old gang are clever young people- and they seem to be trouble magnets just like their folks.
Friendships, mysteries and twisted tales!

This was a sweet, fun little cozy. Revolves around teenagers but it’s still a nice read for adults. Highlights the shallow behavior of mean girls while also showing how adults seem to encourage said behavior. Love the banter among the Maisie’s family and friends.
This is a light, cozy read which is good for a couple of hours of relaxation and enjoyment. There is no profanity, no violence, and NO sexual situations; just what this reader needs in the middle of this pandemic. I will be checking out the other books in this series for a few more hours of escapist reading. I recommend that you do, too.
I received a review copy from Booksprouts and thank them and the author for the opportunity to read and review Bag of Bones.
*Spoilers* April Anderton’s cute and clever new mystery Bag of Bones can be enjoyed by both teens and adults.
It starts in Lakeside Mall where both young Maisy works in a store and her mother Emily works in the mall office. A bag of human bones turns up in the store where Maisy works and she’s accused of putting them there. It turns out that they are from a biology lab at a nearby college and were planted by one of Maisy’s enemies but finding this all out is a winding mystery trail that makes the book really interesting. And her Aunt Ali Loukas the famous journalist who is visiting helps add to the story. There’s a romantic twist too as Taylor a school friend/another mall employee and Maisy become closer friends. You’ll definitely like this book!

I enjoyed this fun cozy mystery. Maisey has received a promotion and things aren’t looking so promising when a bag of human bones falls on her customer. With the police suspecting her, Maisey must find the real culprit. This fast-paced mystery was a joy to read and I’m looking forward to the next adventure.
