When Badger Horley, a SEAL, and the rest of his eight-man unit hit an antitank landmine on a routine reconnaissance mission, all were badly injured, but one of his men died. Having only joined a year before, he’d been the youngest member of the squad. Mouse left behind unanswered questions about his life…along with seven team members who aim to see that his tragic death is brought home to those … those responsible.
Badger’s path back to health is a long and difficult one, but revenge drives him out of bed every single day of his life. Someone modified orders the morning of the incident, sending his unit straight over that landmine. At the time the altered route had been given to him, he’d been curious but not unduly concerned. What happened to his squad has brought unwavering clarity: Those last-minute changes and the explosion that shattered his team were deliberate–and he means to catch the perpetrator if it’s the last thing he ever does.
Kat Greenwald watches the man she’s falling in love with fester a little more each time they’re together. Refusing to give himself time to heal, not surprisingly he hasn’t taken to his prosthetic well. As a prosthetic designer, she’s dealt with men and women in endless physical and emotional states. Badger is different. He’s driven, determined and deadly, but she can’t help her feelings despite the negatives. She’s hooked on a man whose sole concern seems to be in getting retribution for the incident that left his team in shards…while all she wants is a future happily-ever-after with him. But when her life explodes, and she’s kidnapped, it’s Badger who steps in to save her…
Still, Kat has a long road ahead of her to convince Badger a life filled with love is always preferable to answers that can only be gained at the risk of dying to get them.

A new series from this author with a similar formula. I liked both Badger and Kat, especially Kat, a really cook occupation and the author did give some info on that (something I’ve wondered about). The story is good, and while there is a HEA for
Kat and Badger there is a continuing story arc that will go thru this series. Liked how the other seal team members were woven in.
I enjoyed reading this book and it kept me wanting to know more. I have read all books available in this series so far. Can’t wait to read the rest! Hate having to wait to continue reading the series. Wonderful reading.
Funny compassionate and you want your own little Jerry
I love the characters and what they faced is very much what could happen. The interplay is well developed as well as the story itself.
Was not a book that I can say I couldn’t put down. The story was okay just the ending was abrupt.
This is a wonderful story of Seals that have come home as wounded warriors. They show that they are still strong and have a lot to offer. Although it takes a lot to recover the do keep going. This story is full of suspense, action, romance and drama. Badger had a lot to over come and a lot to give. Kat was amazing in her ability to stay firm and strong with Badger. She was able to think about all the guys needs while going thru her own drama. While the end finished one area of mystery, it left room for the other suspense to continue into the next book. I look forward to reading more from this series.
great series.
LOVED IT! Getting the next one now!
Badger is an amputee from the war and several of his team mates as well but the youngest on the team didn’t make it. 2 years later he is still trying to figure out who betrayed them. He’s full of anger and vengeance. His therapist is an amputee as well and is trying to help but it isn’t easy. she designs the prothstetics, but it’s hard when he won’t stay off his stump to let it heal. There is a lot going on in this book.
A less conventional romance that makes one think about war veterans and disabilities, some admirable characters.
I enjoyed it.
Loved this book! Really got into the characters and enjoyed the relationships in the book. Thank you so much to the author for releasing this free, as I plan to follow and purchase other books in the series!
My mother-in-law had me order entire series for her. Said they are very good.
I loved the book, Badger and Kat ‘s story was great . A lot of twist and turns you didn’t see coming. Plus I got to visit characters from previous series that I loved. Would recommend it to fans of military romances.
Enjoyed reading this book!
This genre follows a fairly predictable story line but the characters were well drawn.
I just plain liked it
I really enjoyed this book and am now reading the second one.
