Lucas Badd…the Baddest of them all, he’s patriarch of the clan, a man with the size and temperament of a grizzly bear whose past holds the keys to not only his own future, but also the way everyone connected to him will move forward as a family. Who can tame a man this wild? Olivia Goode. A widow, a mother, and a woman who is Lucas’s opposite in every way imaginable. If anyone can, it would be … would be her, but the real question is whether she can move past her own tragedy to see the man beneath the grizzly bear exterior, and whether Lucas has the courage to face his demons and become the man he’s spent the last forty years pretending not to be.

“I shouldn’t enjoy the way he looked at me—I didn’t have the heart space for a man larger than life like Lucas Badd.”
Um…I’m rethinking silver fox. Now I’m moving toward #GrizzlyFox or #GrumpyFox with some silver thrown in. Lucas is the father of mountainous grown men that he calls his ‘boys’. Doesn’t it just make you want to start singing #BaddBoys? He was raised in Ketchikan, Alaska so it’s home… a place he’s been running from for 40 yrs. I’ve been so intrigued to finally learn the story behind the estranged relationship between the fathers of the Badd boys.
Lucas Badd is grouchy and surly and so damn funny. He has no filter whatsoever. If he thinks it, he says it, and it’s gonna be explicit. He can’t talk without cussing and that’s not something Olivia Goode is used to. She’s a prim and proper lady. But that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t amuse her when she hears him talking to himself in a colorful way, about colors. How entertaining it was when they introduced themselves to each other and she quipped, “A Goode and a Badd.”
While I did enjoy the banter, there was much more to the story. Both characters had grown children and years of experience, both good(e) and bad(d). They were full of pain and disappointment and broken dreams. Finding each other sparked something that they weren’t even aware was missing in their lives and made them take a look in the mirror and ask some hard questions. Would they be strong enough to overcome their painful pasts and consider starting over… together?
Being over 40 yrs old myself, I really really enjoyed this story about an older couple told in dual POV. I could relate to so many of their experiences and feelings. I might of even shed a tear or twenty. As she always does, the author introduced me to even more amazing characters and teased me with the possibility of more to come. I’m excited to see where it goes next. The line forms here…
I can’t even begin to tell you how long I’ve been waiting for this story to happen. I wasn’t even sure if it would happen, but when it came to the Badd men, there was a big hole in the story that needed to be filled. And the only one who could fill that would the source himself, Lucas Badd aka Badd Daddy.
I had no idea what to expect this one, but it’s definitely the most emotional story yet in this extensive series. I’ve read about 70% of the books in the Badd Brothers series, so I’d say that I know this family well enough. They’re gritty and I loveeeee seeeing these Badd men fall to their knees because of the women in their lives. Their testosterone level is something completely out of this world, no idea how the girls handle it.
Lucas, Lucas, Lucas. To be honest, I have always been unsure about his character since we’re first introduced to him. He definitely wasn’t a role model for his sons and you see sooo much of that pain and anger in their standalone books and in this one as well. Lucas has a long journey ahead of him and it’s not an easy one. He has to change his ways, be a better person, be healthier, forgive himself and make amends with his boys and nephews. I was a bit nervous that the sole reason he was willing to make any sort of change was because of the heroine, Liv Goode. But it’s not the case, yes, she’s one of the reasons, but for the most part it’s coming from a deeper part of himself.
I loved that Liv didn’t give into him so easily. Everything that she’s witnessing with Lucas, she’s seen before with her ex-husband. And there’s no way she’d put herself through all of that pain, again. Her hesitancy about Lucas made their story more real and one element that I appreciated. He had to earn her trust and she had to see all these changes. But she had a huge hurdle to get over as well and that was to take a chance with Lucas.
Everything about their story was absolutely perfect! I wouldn’t have changed a thing and I am sooo glad that Jasinda is still blessing us with more stories from their world!
**I RECEIVED A COMPLIMENTARY READER’S COPY FROM THE AUTHOR IN CONSIDERATION FOR A REVIEW. THIS DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR CONTENT OF MY REVIEW**
Jasinda Wilder
Man, I’m glad Badd’s moving on.
That’s Goode! Keep it up!
And it’s almost supernatural phenomenal that there is finally a real love story in the romance genre with over 40/60 year old characters and then even so wonderfully written and credible.
That’s reassuring and gives hope, not everything ends with 40.
Opposites attract each other and Olivia and Lukas couldn’t be more different, where they come from, what they experienced, what shaped them and what they want from life. But they find themselves in a direct, unvarnished way, in dialogue and with free space for everyone, a new self each for themselves and together. It is wonderful, emotional, exciting and funny.
Mrs. Wilder once again manages with ease to tell difficult topics in an understandable and conquerable way, comprehensible and inspiring.
I love this series in all its forms and am so relieved that we don’t have to leave it completely after all 8 Badd brothers, the 3 Badd cousins and Papa Lukas Badd have found their piece of heaven on earth in Ketchikan.
I am curious to see what all the Goode of the way still comes.
Glad to see that Uncle Lucas finally got a happy ending! Enjoyed the twist with his self growth and the fact that he seemed realistically honest about his flaws.
THIS book was so good. It really tied the BADD series together and gave us some closure. It really really touched my heart as I have a set of twin cousins in my life and one has passed, unexpectedly, so I know first hand the grief it causes the living twin. Loved the characters, old and new. Loved the surprise blurb we were given after finishing this book. You’ll definitely need to read the whole series to fully understand this book. So well written and the characters in it were so believable.
Badd Daddy is the latest five star read in the Badd Brothers series. This is the story of Lucas, the estranged dad of the Badd triplets. We learn the history of his twin brother, his brother’s wife, and the triplets’ mom. And how this all led to his downfall. He meets a lovely woman, Olivia. Will she help him find redemption with his boys, love, and the path to a healthier way of life? Read and find out. Also loved that our hero is of a certain age. We get to catch up with all the Badd Brothers and cousins, and their families. Enjoy!
It was nice to wrap up the Badd series learning more about how it all began with the father/uncle of the boys. Lucas is a little rough around the edges and makes a surprising love match with Liv, who seems to be out of his league at first. Lucas finally decides to work toward making himself a healthier and better person. He knows he is long overdue in making a better life for himself and in making things right with his sons, who he has not been a great father to. The positive changes he is working toward make him able to become romantically involved with a woman he meets at the hardware store he works at. Liv helps him realize that there are lots of things he needs to work on. She is a widow who is lonely and is immediately taken with Lucas’s personality. Their romance does not come immediately, They both have things to work on before they are ready for a relationship with each other. As it happens, Liv is also the mother of 5 daughters who are introduced in this book and who will be the subject of a new series. I can’t wait to see what kind of stories they will have.
From the moment I started this series with Badd Motherf*cker I fell in love. Fell in love with the characters, the town, and how this family was coming together. Actually, through these books, I’ve added Alaska to my bucket list of places to visit.
With each book, each character we met, the pieces of this family were coming together. Pieces that kept us coming back for more. Needless to say, even after you wrapped the series (or so we thought) with Badd Medicine I was always curious with what happened. Badd Family history was an enigma.
Then Jasinda surprised us with this AMAZING story. Lucas Badd. Meets a Goode woman.
Side Note to readers: Badd Daddy is the very definition of bringing a series to full circle and then some. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry (ohhh break out the tissues!!), and then your heart will swell so much it’ll feel too big to stay in your chest.
Thank you for creating this story. Although you owe two boxes of tissues and a dozen hours of life that I willfully gave to read this book that I thoroughly LOVED.
I received a free copy of this book from the author.
If you’ve read the Badd Brother series you know the last three novels focused on the Badd Triplets – Ram, Rem, & Rome. Badd Daddy focuses on their father, Lucas. As it turns out Lucas is the identical twin to the other 8 Badd Brothers father, Liam.
Due to events in his teen years Lucas allowed them to define the rest of his life. He missed out on a lot of his boys life as well as his own life. Choices he made came back to bite him in the butt. When Lucas meets Olivia Goode he wants to make everything right. Not just for her but himself the most.
This contemporary romance is a sweet exchange between two adults that deserve second chances. If only all addicts, like Lucas, would have the same outlook on their life and make the same turn around.
Badd Daddy is another great edition to the Badd family!
