From the world of the Lost Souls ParaAgency series comes a bad witch with good intentions.Hi! My name is Lola and I’m a bad witch. At least, that’s what they tell me. I can’t remember anything past the recent Winter Solstice. Focusing on the past never did anyone any favors, so I’m taking my fresh start and helping others. I’ll prove that people and witches can change for the better. And other … And other bad witches? They’d better watch out. I’m coming for them.

This book hooked me from the beginning with the humor and mystery.
Lola, a “bad” witch, has magically induced amnesia to keep her past hidden from her. She’s protected from using her magic by an amulet. When that gets lost, she decides to head out of town since the Lost Souls ParaAgency is watching her, and she doesn’t want to put the witches she was staying with in danger. On her way out of town, she runs into a rat that she can understand and finds out she was cursed by a witch and used to be human. Feeling compelled to help, Dara, the rat, Lola ends up sticking around for a bit until she can get some fake documents to hide her identity and move on.
Lola and Dara’s exchanges are laugh-out-loud funny. Dara is egotistical and somewhat snarky, which is such a great addition to the book. The shenanigans that happen while the two of them are working together to uncover who turned Dara into an animal and how to turn her back are the best parts of the book. There are also several potential love interests, but nothing is explored in this book. But maybe something would be touched on in future books.
The overall storyline is a lot of fun because it’s light and mysterious but also believable even though the book has some fantastical elements. Some side-plots keep the pace moving very quickly and with no lulls. I would’ve liked more backstory on Lola and the Agency, but that might be explored in other books.
Overall, if you are looking for a quick, funny, and exciting book, then Bad Witch Takes the Case will be a good choice.
A real pageturner
Great story! I laughed out loud at the rat! I loved the banter between Dara and Lola. They form an entertaining duo! Bad witch has some truly good character traits and I really liked her! She has just enough of a wicked edge to make it interesting, but not too much; she’s still likeable! I loved that her intentions are really good!
What an amazing book, a real pageturner. Fun fun fun! It’s not a murder mystery, but a different kind of mystery. Real fun! I won’t say more for fear of spoiling. This is a spin-off from the Lost Souls ParaAgency series, so there are references to that series. I do believe you could easily read this as a standalone though! Although, you might want to read the prequel crossover short story first, O Come, All Ye Witches. There’s a link to that story in the book.
I really loved this story! Lola trying to find herself and to not be the bad witch any long is a really interesting storyline. She had many opportunities to revert to her post amnesia ways, but caught the darkness fabulously! She even kept her cool with Dara, which is saying a lot! Fun read!

This is a new series by K.M. Waller. Although the author mentioned at the beginning that this book could be read alone without having read the cross over book, I would highly recommend it. The book is full of excitement that no bad witch should have.

Bad Witch Takes a Case: A Bad Witch Cozy Mystery by K.M. Waller is an awesome story that I have read. This is book number one in this awesome start to a brand new series that I am so hooked on. I can not wait to read the rest of this awesome series. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about cozy mysteries and mysteries.

I had a great time reading this book! A bad witch with no memory, people spelled into animals and a great storyline to boot! I read this book as a standalone but I’m going to go back and read the author’s previous series. It was also nice to read a mystery that isn’t a murder mystery, refreshing change for me.

Love, love, love the LSP novels. Lola is a really great character. She is complex without being overwhelming and she has a good heart. At least she is starting to think that way. While trying to be a good witch, she manages to get in a lot of trouble. Can she continue to follow the right path, I hope to find out in the next book about the bad witch. Highly entertaining and fun to read. Try it today.
Bad Witch Goes Straight
This is a great and fun book to read. It has a very cool plot. Mostly it has all of the feel-good ingredients. It has heartbreak, revenge, talking animals, a mean woman, cooking, love of family, loyalty, and romantic flirting. I am going to love the new series. I received this ARC book for free from Booksprout and this is my honest review.
I loved this book beginning with the first few pages! Lola is a bad witch – a mean witch – who has had her memory erased. She wants to prove that she is no longer bad and her actions are very indicative of a reformed witch. She protects, from the start, the people (the Walker sisters) who have taken her in and helped her. And, the case she takes is to help Dara find which witch cursed her and turned her into a rat. And, why? I’m excited to see what changes she’ll make to show the LSP she’s changed……or has she?????
I have enjoyed the Lost Souls ParaAgency series and getting to see great aunts Walker witches from Burberry get a little more attention was fun. The author gives you a peek into the life of a young bad witch in O Come, All Ye Witches. Though you could definitely read this as a standalone. And this book takes off after Lola has moved into Burberry and gets involved in an adventure with some unusual characters. Lola has a great sense of humor and will keep you interested in the story.
I am looking forward to more adventures in Burberry…with whatever witch is at the center of the story.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author, K. M. Waller, for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
In O Come, All Ye Witches, the great aunts Walker witches of Burberry were helping a young bad witch who had lost her memory. This spin off is the start of a wonderful new series about Lola, the bad witch who can’t remember her past and doesn’t really know what powers she possesses. As Lola ventures out on her own, she stops to help some humans who have been turned into animals. Is Lola really a bad witch? Such fun interactions with a few characters from Burberry from the Lost Souls ParaAgency series. Lola is very witty and it’s fun to watch her interactions with the mean human Dara and their unusual adventures. I can’t wait to see what’s ahead for Lola. A great new series!! I couldn’t put the book down.
Bad Witch Takes the Case is a fantastic book. I loved it. This is a fun and engaging book. I love the characters. Their interactions are humorous and entertaining. The mystery has many twists to keep you guessing until the end. I highly recommend this book and look forward to more in the series.
Cozy Fun
What an enjoyable paranormal cozy mystery! I liked that the author wrote with deep characterization, which actually doesn’t happen often in cozy mysteries. The in-depth look at the main character’s world through her eyes added so much to the fun; hers is a great mind to be in. What a fun idea, too, to have a witch with magically induced amnesia! I’m looking forward to further adventures of this unusual witch.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
This is book one of the Bad Witch Mystery series and the main character is a supposedly bad witch called Lola, who apparently used to drain other witches of their powers, until something went wrong with one witch and instead she herself was left with a case of complete amnesia. She has been placed with the Walker sisters, all experienced witches, by the Lost Souls ParaAgency and was given a magical amulet to wear, that would stop her doing ‘bad’ witch stuff! She is trying to leave the small town, where she has been kept hidden in the Walker house and never really been allowed out, as quietly as possible, but gets caught by two of the sisters. She tells them she wants to leave before anything bad happens, caused by her, after the amulet fell into the toilet of all places! She is convinced to wait for some new ID papers and instead ends up trying to solve a magical mystery.
When she tries to avoid an agency agent by going out the back door of the local diner, she comes across a talking rat, who asks for her help. Seems a witch, or someone who has asked a witch for a spell or curse, has changed a woman into an animal some three days before. This woman, Dara, owns the diner which is renowned for its bad food, points her to another talking creature, a possum, next to a spooky house that has just appeared. Lola has already had a vision about the house and knows she shouldn’t go into it and it is also being watched by the ParaAgency. Lola’s grimoires only contain spells for bad things and she asks for a bit of help, for a spell to transform someone’s shape, but that only ends up with her changing the rat into a cat!
Lots of complaining by the rat turned cat, which goes a bit overboard at times, but is to reflect the true nature of the person hidden within. A good spell gone awry and a sudden attraction of numerous males, all make for a difficult time for Lola, as she tries to sneak out of town. A scary haunted home and black raven in a vision, appearing as if by magic to the town, appears odd but also very dangerous. Lots of fun whilst reading of Lola’s attempts to do good rather than bad and the lack of skills shown by the agent given the job of following her until she leaves town. Easier to start afresh when you can’t remember whatever it is that you did before, which was so very wrong and led to her being on the ParaAgency’s radar. A fun short read and I look forward to reading more in this series and the Lost Souls ParaAgency series as well. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Lola has been told she is a bad witch, but she does not remember anything pre winter solstice. Not liking that, she tries hard to do good. She goes to Burberry and starts to find people have been turned to animals. The characters are quirky and wonderful. The suspense is of the comedic type and the banter sure fits right in. I out right laughed at so many sections, not just a smirk or two. If you need cheering up, this is the book for you. An excellent vacation from daily stress. Can not wait for the next book to see where everyone is at from here.

What a unique twist to have the lead character be a witch with amnesia! Lola’s memory of her past has been magically erased. All she knows is that she was a bad witch and is being watched by a paranormal monitoring agency to ensure she doesn’t fall back into her evil ways. Her leaving town is delayed by discovering that someone has been casting a spell to turn humans into animals. She initially agrees to help reverse the spell so she can earn some extra money, but soon realizes she’s also doing it out of friendship, compassion and the desire to help. This ends up being a story about friendship and the power of redemption as Lola discovers that she has the ability to change and be a better person in spite of her past. Her adventures are just beginning and it’ll be interesting to see what’s next.

Lola found herself with magically erased memories
Allegedly she was a Bad Witch with creepy powers and a scary history
The Walker witches sheltered her as she was recovering. When an amulet binding her powers ceased to be anything but gross collateral damage, Lola decides to leave town.
Apparently, not an easy feat. Lola finds some folks in need, and goes to hilarious extremes to try to assist
Even most of the baddies seem to have a bit of good in them.
An intriguing adventure series

I absolutely loved this story. Cannot wait for more.
Lola is trying her best to be a better witch. She decides that she needs to leave town and the Walker sisters and that is where everything goes wrong or maybe right for Lola. She finds Dara, the owner of a very bad diner, turned into a rat and tries to help her but it doesn’t happen. She also learns that her old house is following her.
Has Lola really become a good witch or is it only a matter of time before she does something bad. Everyone is watching and she really needs to get out of town.
To find out what happens you will need to pick up your own copy to find out the answers and then you too will be wanting to find out more in a second book. Enjoy!
It was a good book. I really enjoyed reading it. The characters were great the plot was great. Looking forward to more by this author
