Bad Traffick – a review by Rosemary Kenny
Ex-hitwoman Leine Basso is a hardworking bodyguard, who gets involved in the seamy world of people-trafficking, with sellers, buyers and enforcers bringing treachery at every turn.
She saves an innocent young victim from a terrible life of degradation and misery at great risk to herself, but cannot shake off the guilt that there will always be many more who haven’t been that lucky.
A very thought-provoking book.
One more in the series. Once you start you have to read the entire series. Can’t get enough.
Another great book in series by Berkom!!
An action packed thriller that showcases Liene Basso’s investigative and physical skills. Lots of plot twists and nonstop action. Liene is easily one of the most intriguing protagonists, on the same level as Jason Bourne.
Excellent characters. Good story lines. Love the series
Good realistic characters. Good story line. Makes me want to read more of her books.
A trafficking ring kidnaps a child, Mara. A woman claims to be Mara’s Mother and the sister of a famous actor, Miles Fournier. Lenine Basso is hired as a body guard to keep Miles from harm. Will a DNA test prove the women is really Miles’s sister?
Lenine is trying to find Mara and see if this woman is really the Mother she claims she is.
Mara is a homeless young girl who is abducted by sex traffickers. When she escapes, they have to find her because the buyer has already paid for her and is impatiently waiting to get his product.
Security specialist, Leine Basso, takes on the job of protecting A-list actor Miles Forunier. Shortly after taking the job, Miles is delighted when he contacted by a woman saying she is his half-sister. But she has a problem that she wants Miles to help her with. Her daughter, Mara, has been abducted.
Miles is so happy to learn he has family that he promises to help find Mara. Leine is not happy with this situation. At all. They find out that Mara was taken by sex traffickers who want her back. Leine has to find her before they do.
This was a gripping thriller that takes us into the world of human trafficking. I hesitated to read this book because I thought it would be too upsetting. But it wasn’t. It was informative and a really good story. I loved how Leine was such a strong, competent woman. It was funny how she tolerated Miles and his child-like ways. I loved Mara. It was amazing how she took care of herself at such a young age. I do wish that I had read the first book in this series first so I had some back story on Leine.
Even though this is a difficult subject to address, I didn’t want to put this action-packed book down.
Good mystery. Liked the characters. Kept me interested
Leine Basso is a great character and I’m definitely a fan.
I’m still reading it but I am loving it. VERY GOOD!
Fast read, good action and excitement. It is clear that Leine does some dumb stuff to push the story in a couple of directions. A super assassin standing in the open and getting caught gawking at the detective. Not likely. A woman shows up and something is not right, but that’s ok with Leine. And she was a super assassin? Uh, no. However, the illogical contrivances to further the story didn’t kill the decent flow. It still was a nice light fast read. (Oh yeah, after reading some of these ebooks, it is very nice to have an author who gets the book proofread.)
