When his aunt and uncle disappear from their coastal English town, a man goes down a dangerous path to discover what happened . . . David Booker has returned to Romney Marsh on the south coast of England for a holiday. He’s expecting to spend time helping his aunt and uncle pack up the stock of their second-hand bookshop in preparation for a happy retirement. But when he arrives on a miserable … he arrives on a miserable April night to find his relatives missing without word and without a clue regarding their whereabouts, he gets little in the way of help from the local police, with the exception of Det. Oliver Tidy left me looking forward to reading more Booker & Cash stories.
Very good Read!!
A good read. Kept me interested to the end
Good read. The characters will sometimes surprise you.
Main character got beat up quite a bit which became tedious in the beginning but it kind of tapered off towards the end. I liked the premise.
Enjoyable, bought next 2 in series
I really enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down. It kept my interest the entire story.
Slow. Not recommended
Stayed up all night reading this book… intriguing plot. Poignant main character dealing with a lot of grief and anger as he uncovers his aunt and uncle’s murderer(s) and the reasons behind their deaths.
Unusual, very interesting
watching for more of this series.
enjoyed every minute of this easy to read book
Definitely not one of my favorites. Tends to be depressing at times. I’m not too sure I would want to read another in this series.
REALLY enjoy this author. Very well written great character development. He has written 3 series; total of 14 books…I’m sadly on the last book. Sure hope he is writing more! HIGHLY recommend all 3 series…be sure to read in order!
A bit too over-the-top for me. Some good dialogue, if a bit too glib. The character development of the main characters is good. I found the ending disappointing, just too improbable.
This was a fairly well written detective type story. Kept my interest the whole way through until the end.
One of the best books I have read in a long time. Fantastic character development, and a wonderful use of adjectives!
Well, I found this book to be dry and slow. I had to force myself to finiit. It wasn’t that there was anything really wrong with the book. It just did not appeal to me.
Enjoyed reading.
Surprise ending.
A twisting tale that challenges logic. Too many times I went into other ‘false clues’ while looking in the wrong direction. Could the reason be that simple?
