I was kidnapped on my honeymoon by three masked men.Blindfolded.Bound.Destination unknown.I was told to stay silent and abide by their rules. But they didn’t realize I wasn’t a victim…not anymore. The open sea was my backdrop for nine torturous days. During that time, glimmers of my fate were revealed by a man with the mysterious chartreuse-colored eyes. He should have scared me, but he didn’t.He … should have scared me, but he didn’t.
He intrigued me. And I intrigued him.
He punished me when I didn’t listen, which was every single day. But beneath his cruelty, I sensed he was guarding a grave secret.
I was sold.
And in a game of poker, no less.
My buyer? A Russian mobster who likes to collect pretty things. Now that I know the truth, I only have one choice.
Sink or swim.
And when one fateful night presents me the opportunity, I take it. I just never anticipated my actions would leave me shipwrecked with my kidnapper.
He needs me alive. I want him dead.
But as days turn into weeks, one thing becomes clear—I should hate him…but I don’t.
My name is Willow.
His name is Saint.
Ironic, isn’t it? He bears a name that denotes nothing but holiness yet delivers nothing but hell. However, if this is hell on earth…God, save my soul.

**ARC REVIEW**
3.5/4
This is my 1st book by Monica James .
Willow finds herself finally happy. She found Drew and although it has been a quick relationship, it just feels right. It may be her happily ever after and she decides to marry. Until on their honeymoon everything goes to hell. She’s kidnapped and during captivity she discovers that Drew may not have been who she thought he was…
Saint has a final job to complete and it will hopefully bring back his life as it once was. Until he discovers Willow is not as he presumed her to be. She’s making it all difficult and in the process he’s starting discover feelings that have been locked away for so long.
Willow needs to stay alive, she needs to stay focus and find a way back home. The feelings developing for Saint her kidnapper must be held within. She knows her life will be a lot worst once Saint delivers her to the final destination!
Full of suspenseful moments, the sexual tension between Saint and Willow is on .
This book ends with a bang!!! It’s a cliffy and your going to want to pre-order book 2 at once.
A Dark Romance so captivating, I couldn’t tear myself away! 5 *I need more* stars!
I was drawn to the characters! Willow is a fighter, and Saint is an alpha male, with many layers. Some of the story may be hard to read, but the writing is so well done.
What Willow thought was a fantasy, turned out to be a betrayal! As the story unravels, the more we learn about both characters and the more danger the characters are in. I loved seeing Willow and Saints connection grow.
This story has intrigue, violence, passion, and a cliffhanger that will leave you wanting more! I’m hoping I can be patient for book 2.
“Ironic, isn’t it? He bears a name that denotes nothing but holiness yet delivers nothing but hell.”
Bad Saint is the first in this series from a new to me author. I accidentally found out this book when I was browsing for a new dark romance and when I saw the cover? I was sold right there and then; when you add that deliciously chilling blurb, I just need to read and immerse myself into the story immediately.
I can’t impress how much I loved this book. I was caught; line, hook and sinker with how articulately and beautifully it was written, not to mention the suspenseful, engaging storyline. Right off the bat, we were given an interesting opening of the story and let me tell you, I smell something fishy with her kidnapping.
There was no mistaking the undeniable attraction betwen Willow and Saint. Willow is no damsel; she is sassy, smart young woman and knows when to fight when opportunity comes. While Saint is the complete antithesis of his name. There is no holy bone in that muscular sexy body of his. He is the mysterious, compelling, hot anti hero you will ever see and never get enough of. I was just about dying from all of that sizzling chemistry between them.
I’m still trying to catch my breath from the high of my emotion because that ending is killing me. I need the next book right now!
Wow! What a ride! Bad Saint had me on the edge of my seat and biting my nails from the first chapter. It was a roller coaster ride with so many ups, downs and turns. I was hooked more and more each chapter to find out what Monica James had in store for these characters. I loved that everything wasn’t as it seemed. I’m on pins and needles waiting for the next book to find out what happens.
Well hot damn!!! This one was dark and hot and had me hooked! I loved that Willow is strong and fierce, and refuses to just roll over and cower. Saint is one of those guys you want to hate so bad but you can;t because he is just everything a dark hero should be. These two had me glued to the pages and I swear the next one better be coming quick cause i don’t know how long I can wait before i start begging for more!!
Bad Saint by Monica James is the first installment her the All The Pretty Things Trilogy.
Bad Saint is a dark read, twisted, deals with sensitive subjects and is certainly not for the faint of heart.
Meet Willow Shaw. She’s a young woman with a rough past, but now it seems fate smiles at her, not. She goes from bad to worse without knowing what happens to her and why.
She becomes the abused pawn in a bigger plan and her only saving grace seems to be her abductor.
Saint Hennessy is a man in his thirties, he’s driven and has his own agenda, sorry not sorry, no spoilers here. Only so much, one of them fell in love, the other one tries to be ice cold and unaffected. Saint is the perfect antihero.
I started reading and was immediatedly sucked into the story. The writing is excellent and I love, love the storyline and the characters. I love the author’s contemporary romance novels, her heartfelt and gripping stories like the Sins of the Heart series and her Surrender series. Both are favorites of mine and now All The Pretty Things is one too. I can’t wait to read the next book, Fallen Saint. I recommend the book and give 5 stars.
“She is worming her way into my soul, and each time she cries, I want to console her. But then I remember I’m not the good guy in this story. I am her captor. And she is my slave.”
Whoa. Just whoa. What did I just read???? I was not expecting this…at all. Exciting and jaw dropping from the first page to the very end. Mixing with undeniable, taboo attraction, dark and terrifying moments abound for the characters, it was just a thrill ride that I didn’t know what was coming at any given point. The things these characters survive was astounding, pushed to the very limits of survival and self-preservation, and I became so invested in the outcome, I couldn’t put it down. Not for the faint of heart or the squeamish, don’t pick it up if you’re not ready to swim in the darkness, so to speak. Absolutely worth it!! Hot, steamy, forbidden, with touches of sweet and steamy, and a hysterical pet chicken to round out all the excitement. The way it ended had me trying to flip for more pages, and now I await so very (im) patiently for the continuation of the story!!! I thank the Author for providing a copy to review!!
“We lock eyes, and it’s evident that he knows we’ve just crossed a line. But that line was bound to be crossed because this spark between us has always been there.”

Saint is one of the guys who has kidnapped Willow. He’s an American with two Russian guys. He keeps calling Willow angel in Russian but she doesn’t know what he is calling her. Right there, I was like how can I not like him. My first impression of him was he may be acting mean but he’s got to have a soft spot somewhere. Saint wasn’t also a good guy but he’s swoon worthy. He’s a strong alpha guy.
Willow, wow Willow. She’s tough but a little naive. I hate that she was kidnapped and who had a part in it. My heart went out to her but she strong and know she come out of it all stronger. I was so hoping Saint was going to be her saving knight.
I wasn’t a big a fan a the ending because it left the characters in a place I wasn’t happy with but I had fair warning that this one was going to end with a HEA because it’s a part 1 of 3. I definitely will be one clicking the next one as soon as it comes out.
All I can say right out the gate is WTF just happened???? Monica James takes you down this insane rabbit hole of kidnapping, mafia, Stockholm syndrome type story that makes you question absolutely EVERYTHING! Willow is such a fighter, even when they are trying to break her. Saint, oh my stars…. He is sinful. How can you love such an anti-hero??? Well you do with this book. How he tries to break Willow but in such a way that he cares so deeply for her. When things implode for these two and they are shipwrecked, SO many things happen that leaves your head spinning! The angst and suspense keeps you on your toes with this one and tall the twisty things that happen. You cannot help but root for Saint and Willow to get together. My heart broke for her when she is told the reasons behind her kidnapping. When it comes to Saint, I get why he is the way he is. You honestly cannot help but fall in love with him.
Overall, I am still honestly at a loss for words. I feel like I am a blubbering mess writing this review. Monica James always has a unique spin on stories that blow you away, and Bad Saint does just that. Mind blown, raw and passionate and oh so much more, this story is one of a kind and I know it will be in my top reads for this year. I seriously cannot wait for more because I need to know how this will all play out!!
Monica James is a new to me Author but I love Dark Romance books so I was honoured to receive an ARC copy of Bad Saint. I went in completely blind, without having read Monica’s work before and knowing this was her first foray into the dark sub genre, I adore the cover of the book and the words inside live up to it too!
Willow is the heroine of the story and the book is from her POV, on the night of her wedding day she is kidnapped by several men in ski masks and taken onto a boat, bound, bloody and captive she soon learns she has been sold to become a Mafia leaders new pet. Willow is a feisty, strong heroine with a will to survive, determination to maintain her dignity and not allow her spirit to be broken. The events of the book throw a lot her way but she clings to one thing…. Saint. I liked the play on the captive and captor relationship, as Willow is a fierce heroine is her draw to Saint was fascinating is it her desire to flee and survive the storm she is in the middle of, or is she falling for her captor?
Saint where do I start with this multifaceted man? Saint is all the bad things; but you can’t help but question if there is good underneath. He is one giant mass of contradictions, cruel yet kind, hard yet soft, dominant but still forgiving. He is a man tortured by so many demons and it is through Saint that the story’s complexity and darker edges are brought into play. I was drawn to Saint, I wanted to work him out, to unravel the mystery of the man and as situations change for both Willow and Saint, their characters do too and this transition drew me in more.
I don’t want to say too much about the story line, I am a strong believer in seeing where the story takes you. Monica James wrote this novel well, the pace was good, characters are intriguing and multi faceted, as the plot progressed it became more complex as you learnt about the world Saint has been living in and the plot twist at the end was a punch in the gut for one character.
I liked the internal musings of Willow as she was held captive on the boat. Experiencing her desperations, the moment where she considers giving up before she decides to fight for survival. How far she is willing to push herself to find an end to her captivity and the sacrifices she is willing to make. Through to her conflicting feelings for Saint as both her Captor and her Saviour, and finally her love for pot pie; that took me right back to Tom Hanks and Wilson on Castaway (so traumatic).
I highly recommend this book, Monica James has done a superb job at building things up for book 2 because I am craving it already.
My first Monica James’ read and I couldn’t be more pleased! I LOVED this story!
Angsty, dark, passionate and suspenseful, the perfect match for a very well written book, delivering a story so gripping that you can’t stop reading until the last page!
Minutes after Willow arriving to Greece to her honeymoon, she couldn’t know that her life would be changed forever. After being kidnapped, she spends some terrifying days with her kidnappers, where she learns what her future reserves. But Willow is not going to give up without a fight, showing that she’s a resilient and very strong woman!
I loved Willow’s character! Strong women are just my thing. And Saint… I knew since the beginning that there was so much more in him!
Now I can’t wait for book #2, because I need to know what will happen next!
10 stars.
Numb.
Speechless.
That’s the state I’m in right now.
Saint has obliterated any other thought of mine and has taken up residency in my mind, heart and soul.
And the thing is, I want him there.
I need him there.
He turned my world upside down and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Fair warning: You will not be same person after “Bad Saint” is done with you.
If I were to list the different emotions this book invoked in me we would be here for at least 3 days, and still I wouldn’t know if I’d gone through them all.
That being said, here are some of the recurring ones: empathy, sadness, fear, confusion, curiosity, anger, frustration, arousal, hope, exhaustion, discomfort, pride, happiness, excitement…
Is this helping you in any way? Based on what you see here, can you tell what this book is going to do to you?
Let me spell it out for you: “BAD SAINT” is going to grab you by shoulders, shake you up violently, leave you dizzy and disoriented, turn you around and tell you to go on your merry way. Like that was ever an option!
Normally, for me to be able to sit down and write a proper, focused, well-thought-out review, I need to be in a specific frame of mind and right about now, I’m feeling anything but coherent and grounded, so I already now this that you are reading right now is all over the place.
Please, forgive me. You’re now collateral damage.
Saint is a conundrum: don’t matter how cruel and despicable his actions are, you just want to know more; you need to.
He’s unreadable and we eat that up.
He believes he’s damaged and doomed to this life of pain and solitude.
He shut the door.
But she sneaked in.
Willow.
A warrior.
Oh my God, this woman.
She’s no strange to pain either, but she never stops fighting. NEVER.
Life dealt her a shitty hand but she keeps playing the game. And winning.
She sure is strong for the both of them.
Reading “BAD SAINT” felt like a slow and tortuous descent into madness, and I must be truly insane because I thoroughly enjoyed every single second of it.
The entire time it felt like I was steadily losing my mind, and I was in this permanent Saint-induced fog: I ugly-cried and sobbed the whole way through; I felt physically and mentally drained.
And it was so. F*cking. Worth it.
Book 2 arrives in July and I can just hope I’ll get myself together before that, because otherwise, these are going to be a couple of really long months. Uh, who am I kidding? These ARE going to be the longest months in the history of long months.
Monica James, deliverer of all things holy, please end our suffering and provide us with the next of your word, as we cannot delay our eagerness and questioning no longer.
Speaking in the Devil incarnate – let me know if I’m going to far with the religious analogies, will you? – it was my first time reading a book by Monica James and dear Lord, have I been missing out!
Her writing is magnificently beautiful and absolutely captivating from page 1.
The amount of highlights I made in this book is unbelievable.
The teasers are on the way.
In conclusion, you NEED this book in your life. Get your hands on it as soon as you can; you will not be disappointed.
It is intense, deep and dark but the small rays of sunshine breaking through the clouds will be enough to let you see all the beauty of it; they will feed your heart and warm your soul. You will want to keep going, to dig deeper, to know more, and that’s when you’ll know you’re in it for the long run. It’ll already be too late to turn back around. So forge on: I’ll see you on the other side.
This book is a lot more then I was expecting. There is always a sense of being sucked into a world that consumes you while reading one of Monica’s books. She adds so many layers to her stories that there is always something going on.
“I’m already ruined, so what’s one more scar?” he confesses, surprising me. I wouldn’t refer to the sight before me as ruined. Each scar tells a story, showing the world you were stronger than whatever tried to beat you.”
Saint and Willow had a very intense connection from the very beginning of the book. Their scenes were full of feeling and intensity, it was absolutely electric. I loved them together, and I can’t wait for more.
“I fucked up. I never should have touched her, but I couldn’t help it. She is poison, a toxic combination to my body. I haven’t touched a woman like that for over two years, but it was never like that with anyone else.”
I really enjoyed this book, I’m so glad I read it. There were a few parts that didn’t flow as well as the rest of the book, a few spots with way to much description (to much can be a overkill), but these are just pet peeves of mine. Then there was the fact that she was a “untouched virgin” or “very inexperienced virgin”, I’m just over that already. These things did not hurt the story any – they just bother me. This is a great start to the trilogy and I’m excited to see where it goes from here. If you like to read on the darker side of romance, then I highly recommend checking this one out.
Gah! This was so freaking awesome! I was hesitant after a few chapters because I wasn’t sure I was going to like the outcome. It will take you on a roller coaster worth riding!
Willow is a young woman that has had some tough times but she’s found love and she’s not letting it go. Although she’s very innocent and naive she’s a strong heroine!
Saint is so badass but there’s a reason he’s the way he is. He doesn’t trust easily and he lets no one get in his way. He’s also had his share of rough times.
When these two meet it’s a constant battle of the wills, yet very intriguing. I’m still barely hanging onto my seat after the wild ride and my jaw is still on the floor! This is my first read by Monica James and I don’t know how I’ve not picked up her books before! Bad Saint only makes me want to dive into all of her books!
I finished Bad Saint last night and I still have a book hangover! It’s official… Monica James has turned me into a dark romance fan.
Willow is a fierce, intelligent woman who gets caught up in a HEA. She got a taste of happiness and it was taken away in the blink of an eye. She was kidnapped and didn’t know why. She could have given up, but she refused to be a victim. Her determination through an unimaginable situation is thrilling and empowering.
Saint (yes that is his real name) is a hitman. He follows orders and his recent one is delivering Willow to his boss. He is mysterious and stoic which makes him that much more fascinating. He wants to break Willow down to prepare her for what is to come. But he begins to show empathy for the first time in a very long time.
There is so much happening in this book and the ending left me breathless. I am so excited for suspense/dark romance fans to get their hands on Bad Saint.
Rating:
I give Bad Saint 5 stars. Monica James wrote with eloquence and created an alluring dark romance that was tragic, mesmerizing, romantic all while ending in a cliffhanger that will leave you speechless and NEEDING more!Bad Saint Monica James
Bad Saint by Monica James is a dark romance stuffed with sins, lies, secrets, torture, death, anticipation, defiance and an unending passion lying in its wake. I didn’t expect myself to fall in love with the story as much as I do right now. It is everything that makes a perfect dark palette. Willow, a woman living in her fantasy world is soon introduced to the lies that is her life. Married to love of her life and on a honeymoon, things take a turn when she finds herself kidnapped by three bad boys. An American & Two Russians. However, it’s the Russian she fears the most, not for her life but for her sinful feelings. During the whole journey, she finds herself in the most unexpected situations aided by none other than, SAINT, the American who’s a hit man, a right hand to his boss Aleksi; the man behind the game. He has his own reasons, strong ones nonetheless.
When they find themselves shipwrecked on an uninhabited island, their feelings clash. Their passion strikes. The foreboding advances in full force. Boundaries are tested. Emotions are played out viciously. It is only a matter of time when either of them succumbs to this striking attraction between each other since their first touch.
I am highly impressed with everything, from character building to the writing technique; from hatred to lustful feelings; the story passes in a whirlwind of excitement. A thrill buzzed around me as I kept turning the pages; only to end the story with a major cliffhanger; hence making way for Part 2. Monica promised darkness, and does she deliver it viciously! The kinship is hard to handle but enough to suffice your ovaries. Willow is the most focused throughout as she turns into a strong woman from a girl growing in her own fantasy world. Forced with truths and unexpected situations, she performs her role of a survivor fantastically. Saint, on the other hand, has too much in his mind to deal with, his emotions the foremost problem. It was so simple – Kidnap & Deliver her. But fate plays its own cards that either ends drastically or in their favor. Just like poker, if you lose one hand, you might lose the game! I am fervently waiting for FALLEN SAINT VOLUME 2 to hit my kindle in July.

Holy mother of penguins!!!!
This book took me by surprise and what a freaking surprise. This is my first book by Monica James and I’m hooked. The story, the journey that we take with this characters is a roller coaster of emotions, it will have you on the edge of your seat wanting to scream, to know more information of what’s going on and it will break your heart.
Willow is kidnaped on her honeymoon and taken on a boat to a long journey that promises humiliation and pain. But she is a fighter and she is not willing to give up, she is willing to survive and get out alive. She surprises me thru the whole book, she get her strength and refuses to be a victim and try many times to escape, not making it easy for the Russians and Saint.
Saint, oh Saint!! He is such a complex character. This man had me wanting to know everything about him, why, just why he is doing what he is doing. He is dark, brooding, dangerous and sexy, but you see little glimpses of compassion that make you wanna know who he really is. He needs to break Willow, but doesn’t count on her strength and her need to not submit.
This characters and story are gonna take you on a wild ride. The twists and turns are gonna have you on the edge of your seat, is action packed and deep in so many ways.
Saints darkness is gonna take over your heart and Willows strength is gonna get you thru it all.
I cannot wait for the next book on this trilogy!!! That ending…. OMG!!!! I need more Saint. Get ready for the ride.
5 action pack Stars!!!!
*** I read an advance copy and this is my honest opinion.
HOLY CANNOLI this book really puts you through the ringer with emotions and the cliffhanger!! Willow had a rough past and worked hard to get out of that and make a life for herself. When she finally thought her luck was turning around and her happiness was going to start, she gets kidnapped as soon as she arrives on her honeymoon. Throughout her captivity, she continues to stay strong and not let her kidnapping and subsequent captivity break her. Unfortunately, one of her captors is determined to do so. Saint is tasked with delivering Willow to her forever captor in addition to breaking her before delivery. While he is not happy or willing to do so, he has to do what he’s doing for a reason. The character of Saint is one of the most complex yet determined and torn he really takes you through the range of emotions – being mad at him on one page and sympathizing with him the next. In addition, the budding relationship and development of feelings between the two really had me questioning myself because I was all over the place as they were hot and cold. The cliffhanger at the end really threw me and made me so eager to find out what happens after everything Saint and Willow went through in this book!! This was my first read by Monica but most definitely won’t be my last, especially with this cliffhanger!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This book! This book is amazing! I am utterly hooked on Saint and his angel.
This book is the first in a trilogy by Monica James. It’s the first book of hers that I’ve read and I’m blown away. It’s a mature, detailed read, full of suspense and drama and angst and jeopardy.
Saint is a complex character. You never know whether he’s a good man gone bad, or a bad man trying to be good. He’s so conflicted throughout the book.
Willow, his angel, initially comes over as naïve and innocent, but soon channels her feisty, independent self and becomes quite the kick ass heroine.
The trials and tribulations these characters go through will make your head spin, but remember, this is only part one. Whatever else does the author have in store for them?? I can’t even begin to guess, but I’m sticking around for the whole, unapologetic, wild ride that this series promises to be.
