A Loup Garou World NovelGina, a natural-born slayer with a little something special, has been looking for love in all the wrong places. She’s not holding out for Prince Charming and for some strange reason, she can’t stop having feelings she shouldn’t for a man she considers just a friend. Sure, he’s hot, but he’s an alpha male shifter. Shifters and slayers don’t mix. It’s just the way of it. … of it. Plus, he’s been friend zoned.
Detective Jay Gonzales is so in love with the spitfire redheaded slayer he can’t see straight. She keeps him at arm’s length and he can’t blame her. He’s got a history as a ladies’ man and he’s not what her slayer buddies would consider a catch. He doesn’t care. She means something to him, and this alpha wolf shifter isn’t about to take no for an answer, especially since he’s sure she’s his mate. Breaking the news to his pack, and keeping her safe from a rising dark threat in the city, are just two more obstacles he has to overcome to make Gina his forever.

I’ve read more then twice . .
A perfect hero
I think one of the things this author does best is creating these characters who joke around and cut up while being over all sweet guys. Well until their lady love is in danger, then that alpha switch gets flipped and the baddies better head for the hills. I really enjoyed this book. I love the overall story and the way Jay and Gina get their HEA, with an unexpected twist you will have to read for yourself. I am looking forward to the next book in the series, there are so many characters I hope to see find their HEA.
Alright! This is book 2 in the Tempting Fate series, but you don’t have to read the first one, as this one sums up the last fairly well (and that was written 12 years prior to this one with not nearly as honed writing). I enjoyed the book, first and foremost. The plot was good, if convoluted, and fairly well paced. Maybe a smidge wordy, but not too bad really.
The book was written in first person perspective and from only the female protagonist’s (Gina), which is always less attractive to me than third person and both leads (the book always feels more rounded and the story complete), but despite that, it was still a good read that was easy to follow. I enjoyed the chemistry between Jay and Gina as well as the fact that they’ve already been friends for years so their love simply grows and changes. One small issue I had was how long the confused and disbelieving bit went on for from a lead who is generally very smart. The end was a tad anti-climactic too. Still an enjoyable story.
If you enjoy werewolves, slayers, vampires, snark, a bit of heartbreak, some heavy steam, and a friends to lovers romance, this is an enjoyable read.
Following the troubles Gina faced was very interesting, and guessing what was going on and seeing the characters work around what was happening to them kept the story intriguing.

Don’t you just love how she put some twists and turns into everything. There’s a lot going here, this page turner will have you glued to your seat. Definitely a Must Read!
Gina, is Born Slayer that has magic where it came from she has no idea, she was an orphan, she never knew her parents. But she was an excellent slayer. Her boss
Zachariah wanted her to get info on a new nightclub that had opened in the city. Pretty sure the place was run by vampires.
But the hotness heading her way, didn’t know it yet but this stubborn redhead will have her way.
Detective Jay Gonzales is an Alpha Wolf Shifter whose in love with the stubborn redhead slayer, it’s driving him crazy. Seeing her at the club full of vampires, he was so pissed, then a vampire was hitting on her. Little did he know was that the vampire was going to be the worst nightmare he’d ever had to defeat.
Great read!
Gina is a kickass slayer. She always gets the jobs done. But her latest assignment may be more than she can handle alone. When a recon mission turns into a face to face with a Master vampire, who takes an unhealthy interest in Gina, she may need all the help she can get.
Jay is a detective, a wolf shifter and firmly in Gina’s friend zone. There is no way she would let such a player into her heart as anything ore than a friend. But they both have changed feelings and Jay has been put straight by the Elders, his mate is a slayer and his wolf just better get used to it!
There are some great secondary characters and I totally loved Shaw (not biased at all LOL). I did think they were a bit slow on the uptake, even I figured out the links between certain characters quicker than they did! But a fab read!
Another wonderful series from Mandy Roth. I’ve read book one several times and was so pleased to see the next story. “Friend” Jay, a detective, wolf shifter and more to be found out, is determined to change that status with Gina. When you are a Slayer you don’t pal around wolves even if they too are out to get the bad guys. But, he’s a friend, former lover, of her bestie so they do pal around. Lately, feelings are changing and she’s not giving in. She’s not.
Jay plans to change her mind and make her his. She’s his mate and that is another issue.
There are bad things going on. Bad guys and danger for them all. In the midst of it all can they find love?
The characters are everything you want in a strong alpha with a heart and a feisty snarky woman who takes no stuff from the guy. She is an unending supply of humor for his pack. I love it. His feelings about her smart remarks, not so much. They are a great match. The bad guys are really bad with a challenge to who will come out the winner.
This author never fails to provide a great read and this is no exception. A strong recommendation from me.
