AllieWhen I moved to River’s Edge, dating was the last thing on my mind. I definitely didn’t expect to fall for him. Jesse Shepherd. Popular. Star athlete. Cocky as hell. You know the type. But as time passed, I realized there was more lurking beneath that gorgeous exterior.Secretive. Angry. A little bit broken. The more I peeled back his layers, the deeper I fell. Until I slammed headfirst into … fell.
Until I slammed headfirst into his sea of lies.
Jess
I blew my shot.
Pissed everything away—college, lacrosse, my future—only to end up right back where I started in River’s Edge.
I was content to revel in my misery, spending my days drowning in a bottomless pit of booze and girls.
Until I saw her.
Allison Parrish.
Beautiful. Sarcastic. Perpetual bad attitude.
The pretty little distraction from the shit show that was my life.
But the sins of my past were closing in on me, and I learned the hard way that nothing gold can stay.

OMG!!! What did I just read!!!
Guys, Bad Influence by Charleigh Rose was AMAZING!!! I could NOT put this book down; Jesse and Allison are now one of my favorite book couples. The chemistry, she sexual tension, the sassiness, everything on this book was perfect. Jess owns my heart, he’s this bad boy who everyone thinks he only cares about himself… boy are they wrong. He has a big heart, he is thrown into a mix that he tried to help his family and leaving his feelings and needs aside. When he meets Allison, the last thing he expects is to fall for her. He thinks he isn’t capable of love nor for someone to love him. He doesn’t think he deserves to be happy. Allison has her own demons, she is in a place where she thinks no one is to be trusted, and nothing in life is worth the risk. So, when Jesse comes into her life, the last thing she expects is to realize that she had it all wrong.
Jesse and Allison needed each other, they needed to see that taking a chance on people will change your life. I loved how Allison was so strong and I felt for her. I just loved this book so much, I didn’t want it to end. This was without a doubt PERFECT!!!
Loved this story. Charleigh Rose did a wonderful on Bad Influence. The story was very well written, the plot was strong, it was filled with so many emotions. Jesse and Allie were strong characters that have been through a lot, both are carrying around weight on their shoulders. They meet each other at the right time, time where they needed one another most. They were good for each other. Their attraction was intense, the connection was strong and their chemistry was off the charts, sizzling. Sexy pair. Allie and Jesse were perfect together. I really enjoyed their story.
I loved Jesse and Allie, both will touch your heart.
This was a must read story, I’d highly recommend it.
Thank you, Charleigh Rose. Fantastic work as Always 🙂
5 Stars!
3.5 Stars
This is a book that had me conflicted, I enjoyed it but didn’t love it. Jesse and Allie were perfect for each other. There is a lot of conflict in the story. Both of them have tragic pasts and are drawn to each other. I just felt that at times the story was just getting started and then it stalled only to pick up again. I love a bad boy with a heart and Jesse fits the bill. Overall I enjoyed the book it just wasn’t my favourite by this author.

I am a huge lover of everything Charleigh writes, her River’s Edge world is my favourite because it’s such an easy world to visualise and it’s totally somewhere I want to live. I am going to start with a confession and one I am in the minority for. After reading Bad Intentions (Book 2) and meeting Lo’s little brother Jesse, I can’t say I was drawn to him, I found him a little bratty (don’t shoot me). However Bad Influence has made me eat all my words!!
This book is another epic new adult romance from Charleigh Rose. It has angst, chemistry leading to some of the hotest non sex, sex scenes I have ever read, throwing me into moments with all the feels and having me swooning left right and centre.
Jesse is a young man who many assume to be the stuck up, woman eating jock a part he plays well. Jesse is so much more under the pre-tense he chooses to hide behind. He is a guy trying to dampen his demons, lacks in self worth and aspirations, and his big sister Lo is his entire world. When he meets Allie she blind sides him and he just can’t seem to stay away from her.
Allison (AKA Allie/Allie girl) is a girl who has moved to Rivers Edge following the death of her father almost a year prior. A Daddy’s girl at heart she feels incredibly alone but is trying her best to make her dad proud and make the best of what she has got. Allie is a girl who doesn’t care to conform she is happy to stay in her bubble, with her music and her Doc Martin boots rocking her edgy style to the max with understated beauty. She is an incredibly likeable character and the perfect match for Jesse, a girl who isn’t afraid to tell him like it is and doesn’t hang all over him like every other girl he shows an interest in….or doesn’t as is more likely the case. The way she handles Serena throughout is straight up case and point.
Jessse and Allie’s story is a delicious slow burn, which held me captive in Rivers Edge from start to finish. Watching Jesse chase his girl allowing her to open up about her family life, her grief and in return she draws out the real man in Jesse. The man who is ruined by his selfish mother and his never ending feeling of failure and worthlessness. Allie makes him see himself through her eyes and makes him see he has so much potential and a whole lot to live life to the fullest for. The scene on Allie’s 19th birthday where she opens the box and sends a message to Jesse saying “I Need You” that just broke me the tears came welling up then. That moment and what followed after was just a stand out chapter of the book, Charleigh’s writing here was brilliant.
So I am officially a Jesse convert and I am already craving my next River Edge fix!
“Whatever you say, Allie Girl.”
“So, we’re on the same page?”
“We’re not even reading the same book.”
I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the latest book in the Bad Love series, and read it nearly straight through! Bad Influence from one of my one-click authors, Charleigh Rose, is angsty, addicting, heartbreaking, and all consuming. ALL the feels & all the stars; simply a must read!
I loved the deep emotional connection author Charlie Rose develops between the main characters. Jesse Sheppard is all grown up from the teenage boy we met in Bad Intentions, and let me tell you, he’s completely yummy. He’s the type of hero you’re taken with right away. His cocky assuredness is all bravado, his bad boy vibe hiding who truly is.
“The only thing bigger than his ego is his heart.”
Allie’s character really brought out the real Jesse, he hid from the world. She soothed his broken soul, and brought out the good fight in him, while Jessie made Allie’s fractured pieces fit. With Charleigh’s words, their connection and chemistry was deep, moving, and palpable.
I absolutely loved this book and am certain you will too! Take yourself back to River’s Edge, and fall even more in love with this series and these characters! One-click Bad Influence today! Enjoy xo
4 ‘Allison and strawberry’ Stars!

Okay, I’ve been dying for Jesse Shepherd ever since meeting him in Charleigh’s last book in this series (Bad Intentions), focused on the story of Jesse’s sister, Lo. Now, finally we get to get inside Jesse’s mind and seeing the life that has let him to become this cocky and misterious man. And he meets his perfect match in Allie, a young woman who is still lost after losing her father and now she is back to River’s Edge to focus on her future. She is defintely not ready to fall in love but that happens to be impossible to stop.
Bad Influence is Charleigh Rose’s newest release and the third installment in her Bad Love series. As I said, we meet Jesse Shepherd in the last book because he is the younger brother of Logan (the heroine of Bad Intentions). I just fell in love with these two siblings and their difficult story and I knew that Jesse was more than the cocky playboy he seemed to be. He hides layers and layers of secrets and Allison Parrish, with her sarcasm and her quirky personality, is about to change his game forever. These two broken people embark on a journey that becomes a beautiful love story.
Every time I think I’ve successfully separated myself from my past, and I feel like I’m moving forward, something happens to pull me right back under.
Being with him like this is bittersweet. I feel like I’m on top of the world when we’re in our own little bubble, but what happens when that bubble bursts?
Of course, Charleigh continues surprising us with this phenomenal series. I keep falling in love with crew of characters that seems to grow with every new release. Now it was time for Jesse and Allie and let me tell you, it was so worth the wait! These two and their personalities clash but they also melt together. I loved the “I hate you but I want you” back and forth, the sexual tension, the emotional moments and the burning chemistry between this couple. I loved peeling the layers of both these characters and seeing them vulnerable with each other. It was beautiful to see Jesse and his Allie girl falling in love. Yes, it did take them a while but when they got together.. GAH! SO good!
The best things in life are always unexpected, and loving Jesse Shepherd is definitely the best thing in life.
Therefore, my rating for Bad Influence is 4 STARS because I found it a fantastic example of New Adult romance, with awesome characters, a couple full of feelings and chemistry and lots of beautiful, emotional, funny and sexy moments. I loved seeing playboy Jesse falling for Allie and viceversa. These two just worked so well together and I am so glad, in the end, that they found such a strong and unique connection between them. And of course, it was great to catch up with the whole River’s Edge crew and I cannot wait to see who is next in the series because I love these people so much!
Overall Rating:
Prior to receiving Bad Influence, I had seen Charleigh Rose’s name bantered about on Facebook. Given my ridiculous Kindle library, I simply hadn’t read a book of hers. Until Bad Influence. And now, I’ve got Bad Habit and Bad Intentions sitting in my Kindle library to read on an extended family vacation. Why you might ask? Because she made me love a “bad boy” and an “emo girl” in the space of a day. I could NOT put this book down.
The story follows Jesse (“Jesse F-in Shepherd” to readers of this book) and Allie (“Allie Girl”). Two people from very different lives. Jesse is your typical fornicator, living on the edge, lacrosse player, while Allie is an emo, music-loving loner. A tragedy occurs in Allie’s life, bringing about big changes. Moving to the city where she spent summers as a child, she decides to go to college and work to afford her expenses. Unfortunately, the tragedy hovers over her.
Jesse is living the life that his sister, Lo, earned for him, but he’s hiding a secret life from her. He doesn’t feel a part of the life gifted to him, so he does everything he can to sabotage it. One day, Allie walks into his sister’s bar and grill, and she begins to change his life. These two shouldn’t work together, but they do. With Jesse’s secret and Allie’s past, can they find happiness together?
Rose’s book has everything I love in a romance: a playboy bad boy who seemingly cares for nothing in life (well, except his sister), a loner heroine who, on the surface, doesn’t seem the most heroic, some of the sexiest moments in the bedroom, and lots of angst.
Sometimes, it’s hard to love a character who does everything to make people dislike him. On the surface, he cares only for women, weed, and making himself numb from the travails of life. What I love about Jesse’s character is that it is all a mask. He actually cares so deeply that your heart breaks for him over and over in this story. Thankfully, Allie sees beyond Jesse’s mask of indifference. She intuits his internal need throughout the story that the reader recognizes quickly she is his soulmate. Unfortunately, the angst of this story is created in Jesse’s fight against that knowledge.
Allie is my favorite type of heroine. She is broken. She endures a horrific tragedy at the outset of the book, and it creates a dark shadow over her life. Additionally, her relationship with her mother cannot provide her a place to heal, so she shoulders her pain, keeping a distance from others. With this type of set-up, you know there will be gut-wrenching moments when Allie will need someone to save her from herself. She is incredibly strong and stalwart, but she simply cannot go through life carrying her heavy burden alone.
Together, these two have a chemistry that is undeniable. Each needs the other to overcome his/her past. With that comes moments so heavy with angst that you’ll need your tissue box to get you through it. My heart was heavy with, specifically, Allie’s pain, especially in the latter part of the book. That is how I know I’m reading an incredible romance: when the tears are dripping down my face. And that was the case with Bad Influence. Extreme emotions mark the gravity of this story.
Even more, Charleigh Rose writes one of the sexiest moments in a bedroom scene that I’ve read in a while. Hint: it involves a strawberry Dum-Dum. That alone is a reason to read this book if you LOVE steam.
I fell in love with Charleigh Rose’s characters through this story. I began this book in the morning and finished it in the early afternoon because I simply could not put it down. As I stated at the beginning of this, I quickly one-clicked the other two books in this series because I know Rose will continue to pull me into her stories.
If you love her, you will LOVE Bad Influence. Jesse and Allie are everything right about angsty romance. If you have never read Charleigh Rose, then you will want to one-click this book today.
“Nothing gold can stay”
I love that Jess & Allie got their book! Bad Influence has us back in Rivers Edge, California! I loved these two characters so hard! They had a connection right from the start…well, their second meeting anyway. Jess couldn’t stay away and Allie isn’t about to let anyone else in. Jess is trying to break free from having to be dependent on his sister & Allie just lost the only person that gave a crap about her. Jess just made bad decisions regarding his future & Allie is basically all alone in a new town. Allie persists & Jess is persistent. I loved watching them heal each other, in a way that only having someone love you completely can do! They proved to each other that they are going stay, with strawberry & butterscotch dum dums of course! I devoured this book in one sitting! Work was rough the next day, but what can you do lol.
Charleigh Rose writes amazing, edgy New Adult romance. I was swept away, back to River’s Edge, pleasantly surprised at who the anti-hero of this story was and even more excited to see him paired with his perfect match. This story was a bad boy’s fall from achieved grace through circumstances in which he feels a certain obligation and a quirky girl who’s different than the rest trying to find a place to fit after her world gets turned upside down.
Rose worked in a pertinent theme of how we move on from devastation. “It’s what we do in the aftermath that matters.” takes a front row seat to the plot of this young love story and Charleigh Rose perfectly exudes the choices we can make to fulfill ourselves or our legacies. I loved this recurring theme especially at such a vulnerable age in our lives as showcased in this book. So many roads to travel that understanding and being who you are can go either way. While the girl struggles with circumstances she doesn’t struggle with who she is. Juxtaposed with a boy who thinks he’s one thing in life but shown he can be someone different. It makes for a seductively enthralling story.
Their relationship together is total combustion. The wit, banter, and burning chemistry held me captive from beginning to end. Plenty of emotions and vulnerability slip into the pages as both of these characters are more unassuming than you first think. I loved all the secondary characters and the roles they play in the book. There’s some other unfinished relationship stories that I hope Rose gives Bad Love stories about them too. Great New Adult romance with great writing and fun story telling. Definitely recommend to romance lovers.
Just freaking call me Jesse’s girl because oh. My. Gosh!
Charleigh Rose owes me some sleep and an ice pack for my nose because sometimes a booknerd drops her phone on her face while reading at 3AM. But girl…*snaps finger in a z-formation*…Jesse and Bad Influence were so worth it! It seems like we’ve been waiting for this book for forever and 3 weeks and now that’s it here it was worth 100% of the anticipation! Jesse was ALL THE MF THINGS. Allie was cool too, don’t get me wrong, but this cocky dude broke my damn swoon and stole the show. He gave me butterflies in my tummy and then proceeded to ruin my panties. I’m not even mad.
Bad Influence is most definitely my favorite out of the Bad Love series. Filled with delicious angst, insane steam, and a completely new way to look at lollipops, Bad Influence firmly belongs at the tippy-top of your TBR! 5 stars.
Jesse and Allie were an incredibly hot and stubborn duo in this contemporary romance by Charleigh Rose!
Allie had been dealt a crap hand in life and escaped to River’s Edge to start a new life. Jesse was trying to escape River’s Edge to run from his current one.
The chemistry between these two characters could be cut with a knife. I devoured the the slow burn and snail’s pace progression of their love story and how Jesse pretty much had to prove himself worthy enough for Allie before she jumped. They were both strong but broken, feeding off each other’s emotions.
I loved the angst, the back and forth banter, the chase, the fall out and the score! This book was full of hilarious moments, heart breaking revelations and sweet as pie love and feelings. Jesse made me absolutely swoon.
DEVOURED! stayed up past my bedtime and welllll worth it too! Ive been waiting for Jesse’s book since Bad Intentions. Loved him. Loved Allie and her sass. I always felt like Jesse had so much weight on his shoulders. But it seemed like we started to see the light in this one. Im excited to see what happens next for this series and who gets a book next!!!
Jesse and Allison are EVERYTHING I love about NA storytelling. Into my 2019 Favourites!!!
Charleigh Rose always gives me the angst I crave in these books without going too far. Her angst feels genuine and her characters are relatable. I’ve struggled lately with NA books becoming “too much” – as if they’re trying to be too bad ass for their own good. That never happens with one of Charleigh’s books.
Jesse is all kinds of dirty and damaged and delicious and I might have a small girl crush on Allison. Together they are just what the other needs – even if they can’t always allow themselves to see it. I binged this book in one session and will definitely be rereading down the track when I need a reminder of why I love this genre so much.
So loved Jesse’s story and Allie is just the gal he needs, what a read! Looking forward to future books to the Bad Love series!
I literally just finished this baby this morning and I’m still processing this wonderful and addictive story. Jesse was so freaking hot! I love him and I really loved Allie. She was kind of fierce and I just really digged her, I want to be her bff and go to shows together.
These two had a sort of meet cute, even though it technically wasn’t the first time they met. Jess is trying to keep one of his sicko hook-ups away from him and so he uses Allie has his fake girlfriend and that’s how it all begins. Allie thought she would rarely see him again after that encounter since he’s going to college two hours away but a lot happens in Jess’s life and suddenly he is back in River’s Edge for good. Allie just moved to town too and she now works at Lo’s bar – Blackbear – so she’s bound to see Jesse a lot especially when he comes over to give Lo a hand and help around.
There is so much to these two I can’t even. They both have events in the past they are trying to get through. Allie lost her dad, her bestfriend not even a year ago and she’s still very heartbroken especially now that she is back in the town where she spent all her time with him.She fnds herself basically alone in the world because her mother is barely ever there for her but at leaxst she hass a couple of friends in River Edge.
Jesse just lost something important to him and he tests his relationship with his sister over it. He is very complex. He is living a double life and no one knows half of what’s going on. The person he shows to the world is a mask, a mask he uses to hide his feelings and his true self. His past messed him up real good and it’s still messing with his head even now. He feels unworthy of all good things and that kinda broke my heart. Behind his manwh*re life and all the partying, Jesse is such a good guy and has such a big heart, I love him so much. Allie shows him how good his life could be, she gives him a piece of heaven, a retrieve, a solace and she gives him love. She is one of the only ones who can see the real him and see how the person he puts out in the world isn’t really him.
Allie lets Jesse in, with the pretense that she can fool around with him and lose her V-card without any feelings involved, she gives in. I mean Jesse is the perfect candidate right, he’s a manwhore?! At first it’s just fooling around here and there, no sex but when her living situation is ruined, she finds herself sleeping at Blackbear until Lo finds her and offers her and Dare’s place for her to stay until her grandma’s house is available. After she moves in, Jesse decides to move back in too. He’s pretty smart let me tell you. Now, under the same roof, it’s much easier to hook up and spend time together… and for feelings to grow. These two I swear. I loved getting to know them and see them become much more than the friends with benefits they thought they’d be. And gah Jesse is absolute fire, that man!!
Bad Influence is an amazing story of love and finding the person who will make you see your worth. Jesse and Allie’s story was much more than what I had been expecting. There is angst and there’s so much emotion, I loved how these two broken souls found each other and helped each other through the bad stuff in their lives. This couple is GOLD and I will forever love them. And we cannot forget the insane chemistry they had and all the moments that will leave you scorching. Jesse sure knows how to please a woman! Allie lucked out real good (; You can be sure you’ll never look at a lollipop the same way, I know I won’t, not without remembering these two.
Charleigh is one of my favorite authors so I was very excited about this book.It was everything I expected it to be and so much more.. I loved every single thing about Allie, I can’t remember the last time I connected with character like this. They way Charleigh describes Allie’s dealing with grief was so realistic and heartbreaking. While reading her books I always have a feeling I’m there with the characters, living trough them. And that is something very rare for me. This book made me fall in love, laugh and cry. It was raw, original, heartbreaking and I cannot explain with words how much I loved it
“You’re a bad influence.” I smirk, taking another step, effectively closing the distance between us.”I’ve been called worse.
I was waiting for Jessie’s book since he appeared in Bad Intensions as Lo’s younger brother. Now he’s all mature and it’s official- I’m a 100% #JessiesGirl. Bad Influence completely sucked me in the whirlwind of emotions, angst and lust. And despite that I adore Allie as a heroine, it’s Jessie who totally stole my heart. Broken heroes are my weakness and although they can in fact be a bad influence, it turns out they can also be the sweetest addiction. So call me a junkie, because I’m hooked!
On the outside Jessie is a typical jock – cocky, flirty, with a bad-boy vibe. But as we peel the layers and we discover the depth of his character, there’s no way we don’t fall in love with him. Because he’s so much more than what meets the eye. All he needs is someone to show him that he’s worthy more than a life he knows from his childhood. Someone, who will save him from self-destruction. And Allie is that person for him. A girl, who has her own demons and insecurities. But just like Jessie, she’s trying to mask all of this and she doesn’t let herself break- she’s strong, independent and brave. What I loved the most about their relantionship is that they didn’t try to heal each other. They embraced all the pieces of one another, especially the broken ones. That’s why they were a match made in heaven- they fitted like a missing pieces of puzzles. And I need to point out that this story has the hottest scenes ever! Charleigh Rose created so much sexual tension between characters that there’s a serious risk that your Kindles will burst into flames. And let me tell you- I will never look at the lollipops the same again.
This book will break your heart and make you sad. But at the same time it’ll warm you up and give you hope. Because this story fits perfectly with Rihanna’s lirycs- you can find love in a hopeless place. Charleigh Rose once again created addictive, seductive and phenomenal story about love that helps young people to cope with the life struggles. And for the hopeless romantic like me that’s a reason why Charleigh is one of my favorite authors.
Allie is left heartbroken by an event, and Jessie is tortured by his past, yet together they are perfect and have explosive chemistry. Can they heal each other and move on together? No spoilers; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a beautifully written story which had me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more from this talented author. I recommend for all readers.
So I totally fell in love with Jesse Sheppard , Lo’s sarcastic, lacrosse playing, lady-lovin’ little brother in Bad Intentions. I mean…I think we all knew that someday soon, some really special girl would bring that boy to his knees! This southern girl loves the reformed bad boys with a heart of gold, about as much as she loves her biscuits and gravy. Let’s be completely honest, Allie is nothing short of spectacular. She gives off total BAdA** vibes, and she can verbally spar with Jesse like no other girl before. She’s hot AF, but there’s a sensitive girl with a fragile heart under that tough girl exterior. My heart was absolutely devastated for what she has been through. I was so invested in her and Jesse’s characters, literally my heart hurt and tears were falling. I.Felt.Every.Emotion! The River’s Edge crew are my people now, y’all! I love Charleigh Rose! She is one of my favorites and this book knocked it out of the park. There was so much going on in this book between what Allie was going through internally and what Jesse was hiding from everyone.I couldn’t wait to see how everything unfolded, but at the same time I was kinda terrified. I wanted so bad for Allie and Jesse to give into their explosive attraction and to straight up throw down, Y’all ( And by throw down, I’m totally talking panties and and boxer briefs BTW) I have endless love for these characters . They are beautifully broken, both in different ways. Do they have the ability to each get past there own crap to heal each other? This book is a MUST read. Charleigh Rose never fails to deliver amazing one-liners, angsts, drama, and off the charts explosively-steamy, unforgettable scenes. This is way more than a five star read for me!! Yum, Yum do I ever want some Dum Dums!
*I voluntarily reviewed an advanced complimentary copy of this book, but I also bought a copy as soon as I could because I absolutely Had to have it!
WOW. Just Wow.
Jesse the Bad Influence. With a mixture of problems and vices, Jesse does his best to navigate through his college style life. One encounter with Allie and the world as he knows it starts to change.
Allie.. Sweet, innocent Allie. Has to deal with so much heartache for someone so young. My literally ached for her, but at the same time, I’m thankful she stayed true to herself and did the best she could.
I loved this book so much, I literally read it in one sitting, while at a Birthday Party!!!
It’s an awesome read with amazing characters. Interesting story line and chemistry like crazy, make this one of my favorite reads this year. This story is flawlessly written.
